Be sure to cite examples from the text. If you characterize an author as making a certain
argument, back it up with a quotation and page number. Remember, you are trying to
demonstrate that you understand core concepts and arguments advanced by authors that
we’ve read in class. Pay attention to the readings! You may use parenthetical citations
(AUTHOR NAME, PAGE NUMBER) and, since you are only expected to use texts assigned in
class, you don’t need to provide a “Works Cited” page. 2) If you get confused, don’t panic.
