I recently ran across this coolvideo fromthe 80s of fashion and celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz sharing great behind the
scenes stories of some of her most famous photographs including the infamous shot of John Lennon and Yoko One that
appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. This has alw aysbeen one of my favorite photographs.
(Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rob Besserer)
In the video interview with Annie, she explains how she lights her portraits using a combination of constant (or ambient light)
mixed w ith strobe. By leaving her shutter open for a long exposure, she can bring in the light from the room or background and
w ith a short burst of light froma strobe she can light her subject separately.

(Karlie Kloss Photographed for Vogue
by Annie Leibovitz)
There’sSomething AboutKarlie
“She’s the face of major fashion
campaigns (Dior, YSL, and Donna Karan);
her face was ubiquitous on the New
York, Milan, and Paris runways; and
after yesterday’s E! segment, it’s safe to
say that Karlie Kloss is well on her way to
becoming the next great supermodel.
We like to think we knew there was
something special about Karlie before
anyone else did. And so we looked back
through our archives to her early
appearances in Vogue (at 16!) to bring
you Karlie’s best moments in the
magazine.”
