Dear Judges:
My name is Will Hulsey. I am eighteen years old and I plan on attending Georgia College and
State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. I have always been brought up in the church, so I
decided that I wanted to involve my church somehow in my Senior Project. I have always been
interested in how my church, Canton First United Methodist Church, did their music for the
Praise and Worship band in the 9:30 A.M. service. So helping out with the audio broadcasting
team seemed like an enjoyable Senior Project.
In my research paper, I found out that a lot of people were not interested in the audio
broadcasting field anymore. The reason behind this was because it is hard to find a job in audio
broadcasting, and also there is not a lot of money that comes with the job. So for my product, I
decided to actually run a church service and learn how to control all of the equipment that was
used in the service. Some obstacles that I overcame were meeting times with my facilitator, Scott
Hughes, equipment failures during the service, and having problems contacting my facilitator, as
he never could receive any of my e-mails. My Senior Project was a success in my eyes. In the
end, I ran the 9:30 A.M. service a total of three times.
My topic and my research relate to a career for me because I was interested in pursuing a major
in broadcasting when I go to college next fall. However, since I have done this project, I have
learned that I no longer want to pursue broadcasting as a career choice. Broadcasting just didn’t
seem to be the right fit for me. In my postsecondary education, I am now pursuing to do a major
in business marketing and a minor in broadcasting. I have learned a lot from doing the Senior
Project. The project has taught me a lot of responsibility; it also taught me to always be prepared
for anything.
I always thought that the Senior Project was a waste of time until I actually became a senior this
year. I believe that every senior in every high school should have to do the Senior Project. This
project has taught me a lot about myself that I did not know before. I thank you for your time in
judging my project.
Sincerely,
Will Hulsey
