Student's Journey from Lynchburg College to MCBS Program
1.
2. BEFORE I STARTED THE MCBS PROGRAM, I WAS A STUDENT
AT LYNCHBURG COLLEGE, A PRIVATE INSTITUTION HERE IN
VIRGINIA.
3. IN MY FIRST YEAR, I WAS ELECTED FRESHMAN CLASS PRESIDENT; I HELD A JOB AT
THE CAMPUS LIBRARY (A VERY COMPETITIVE JOB WHICH MOST STUDENTS DON'T
GET UNTIL THEIR JUNIOR YEAR); AND I WAS VERY ACTIVE IN JUST ABOUT EVERY
ORGANIZATION AT LC.
In my first year, I was elected Freshman Class President; I held a job at the campus
library (a very competitive job which most students don't get until their junior
year); and I was very active in just about every organization at LC.
4. Although I loved the campus and my social life therein, I did
not feel as if I was receiving the training that I would need to
successfully start my career, and I constantly felt out of place.
5. As a communications major, my one goal in life is to be a
successful media mogul, but I didn't notice any courses
pertaining to media or film.
6. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THIS WAS A PRIVATE INSTITUTION WHICH WAS VERY
EXPENSIVE FOR ME.
To make matters worse, this was a private institution which was very expensive for
me.
7. I ALWAYS THOUGHT I WANTED TO TAKE THE TRADITIONAL ROUTE AND GO TO A
FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTION, BUT THEN I GOT THERE AND REALIZED THAT IT JUST
WASN'T THE ENVIRONMENT FOR ME; I AM MUCH MORE OF A NON-TRADITIONAL
PERSON.
I always thought I wanted to take the traditional route and go to a four-year institution,
but then I got there and realized that it just wasn't the environment for me; I am
much more of a non-traditional person.
8. I have never done anything inside the lines and I felt as if I needed to explore different
options; because of that I began my research on the MCBS program at Full Sail
University.
9. I initially noticed that this school was very advanced in terms
of technology; I also loved that I would be able to take classes
around my schedule.
10. Another aspect that caught my eye was the fact that Full Sail
has helped to produce so many students that have gone on to
achieve their dreams and become well-known in the media
industry.
11. It was this that made me become so enthused by all that this
program had to offer, so I decided to enroll, and began my
coursework.
12. Initially, it was a slow start and I had trouble understanding how a lot of the
curriculum was relevant to the industry; but eventually it all began to make sense.
13. I continued to communicate with the instructors and
students, as well as complete the assignments as due, until
finally here we are a few months into the program and I
absolutely love everything about it; the professors, the
students, and the overall engagement is everything I
imagined and more!
14. I especially love how the Career Development department is
ready and available, and always willing to assist.
15. I have always been a forward-thinker, and my entire life
revolves around the goals that I have for myself, so I am so
appreciative of the fact that this University has such strong
connections to the titans of the industry, and they are always
looking for ways to help us enter into it as well.
16. Needless to say, so far this has been such a superb
experience, and ever since I decided to pursue my passion for
media with Full Sail University, numerous other doors have
been opened, and I envision myself with a bright future in this
field which I have wanted to be a part of since I was just a
child.
