To whom it may concern,
My name is Ray Terry and I have been in broadcasting for a little over 20 years as a result of
my knowledge in the construction and home improvement industry. I started The Home
Improvement Show on WBT AM radio in June of 1991. That was the beginning of my career as
a radio host and broadcaster.
Since then I have been on several stations in the Charlotte Metro market. In January of 2007 I
started the “About Your House” radio program on 610 AM WFNZ. I have had many board
operators and producers through the many years of doing radio. I personally have had no
formal training in radio or broadcasting. I just like to talk. I just took it for granted when it
came to the operations of the show every week. In 2009 a part time employee of WFNZ
working the Saturday morning slot, was at the board just like every other Saturday.
Immediately, the show felt better, I was much more comfortable with the production of the
show. The breaks, music, and all things just seemed to flow better.
Then, just like all of the other times in corporate radio, something had to change. They had
some layoffs and personnel changes and my producer had to leave. It was at that point, that I
realized the passion and commitment that he brought to the studio every Saturday morning. I
asked him if he would be my producer, and I would pay him to do so. He accepted, and that
was 8 years ago. For 8 years, a young man in his early 30’s has been getting up every Saturday
morning and producing “About Your House” with me. That takes a very special someone that
is willing to give his Saturday mornings for his passion, and that’s not me, it is his passion for
radio. He is a major reason for the show’s success. You could say that I brought the
knowledge and information and he brought the broadcasting and radio.
John Tsiantos is a special guy. I will be forever grateful for the lessons he taught me in the 8
years we were together. I have taken so much for granted. I will miss him and his passion.
However, he has taught me what to look for in his replacement. I will always keep up with
him and his endeavors, as he is now and will always be a part of who I am as a broadcaster
and a person. I wish him the best in everything he does.
John Tsiantos is the complete package. If he commits, you will have a treasure.
Thank you and Follow your Passion,
Ray Terry
