I. Background
1. R kelly
2. Has reached numerous out of court settlement out of court
settlements for his sexual assault against these women.
3. The one case that had went to court of him urinating on a
fourteen year old girl took six years to go to trial where r.kelly
was acquitted because the said girl and or her parent never
testified.
4. Many artist like r.kelly have gone with their careers like
nothing ever happened.
II. Why are music artists not having their careers ruined like so
many others?
1. It has fruent issue in the industry that many music listeners
have seperated art from artist.
2. A lot of artist that have done such terrible things have made
some amazing music that has touched the hearts of music
listeners so having such artists ruined would hurt many.
III. Why is this important?
1. For the #metoo movement to succeed it must affect all
powerful people who such misdeeds.
III. Synthesis 2- Hannah Tizzano
A. Denouncing the #MeToo Movement
1. Catherine Denevue
2. Social media has been a way to describe sexual misconduct
3. Rape is a crime but some believe that incidences of
accusation are going too far
B. As a result of the Weinstein affair, many cases of sexual
violence towards women have been coming out
1. This is particularly in the workplace with men as the source
of the abuse of power
C. #MeToo movement has led to a campaign of public
accusations
1. This has put many undeserving people in the category of sex
offender
2. No chance to defend themselves?
D. A letter was written in French with accusations towards
different men
1. This refers to some of the names on the list of men who have
had sexual assault allegations towards them
2. An argument mentioned refers to how a woman can lead a
professional work team and in the same day enjoy being the
sexual object of a man?
3. It is believed that the outcome of the two movements
represses sexual expression and freedom
4. The writers of the letter talk about the concept of “self-
victimization and a call for women to accept the pitfalls that
come with freedom”
E. How does this all relate?
1. People from all around the world are coming out with
different sexual assault allegations
2. This is a source of power for women to come out with their
stories without being afraid and scared of what people are going
to think
IV. Synthesis 3: Is this the next step for #Me too Movement?-
Janelle
A.Background:
1. 300 women in Hollywood are attempting to fight sexual
harassment in their own industry.
2. The movement started with mostly privileged white women in
Hollywood to expose sexual harrasment and sexcism more
widly.
3. The article ask the question of how can we change the #me
Too movement from “me” to “we”?
4. It explains how we as a people have to move from identifying
the problem to actually solving the problem were raising
awareness too.
5. The plan is to include efforts that will create legislation that
will penalize companies who do nothing to stop harassment in
there organizations, this helps discourage silenced victims of
abuse and harassment.
6. These women who started this movement in hollywood are a
combination of actors, agents, writers, directors, producers, and
executives, women in privileged positions of power.
7. The #Me too movement was intially created to attack
workplace sexsim , harrasment and abuse.
How do the sources come together?
1. This article connects to the other articles on the #Me Too
movement because it criticizes #Me too. Similar to the Valerya
Safranovas “Catherine Deneuve and others denounce the #Me
Too Movement” which criticized the #Me Too movement by
arguing that some believe that a lot of the people accused of
being assaulters and offenders are being punished too harshly
for their crimes.
What does the #Me Too movement do?
2. The #Me Too movement exposes and raises awareness
to sexism, harassment, and abuse within the workplace.
Why is it important?
3. It's important because the #Me Too movement exposes
the injustices going in the workplace it allows victims
who were once silenced to have a voice.
V. Background/Synthesis 4 - Anthony Melendez
A. What events led to the #metoo movement ?
B. Harvey Weinstein
1. He co-founded the production-and-distribution companies
Miramax and the Weinstein Company
2. Weinstein has been trailed by rumors of sexual harassment
and assault for more than twenty years.
3. Because of Weinstein’s position of power, him and his
associates used nondisclosure agreements, payoffs, and threats
of legal action to prevent women from speaking out
4. thirteen women spoke out saying that between the nineteen-
nineties and 2015, Weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted
them.
5. On October 5th, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey released a
report in the New York Times, revealing many allegations of
sexual harassment against Weinstein this article led to four
members of the Weinstein Company’s resigning, and to
Weinstein being fired.
6. When someone would resist Weinstein’s advances or
complained about them to company representatives, Weinstein
would have them removed from anything they were doing with
company and discourage other companies from hiring them.
7. His power over these women made them feel trapped and that
they could not do anything
C. What events show the need for this movement
1. Sixteen former and current executives and assistants at
Weinstein’s companies said that they have witnessed or had
knowledge of the inappropriate behavior at Weinstein’s films
and in the workplace.
2. All sixteen said that the behavior was widely known within
both Miramax and the Weinstein Company
3. Many people were fully aware of his behavior but just chose
to ignore it
4. In October, 2016, a month before the election, a video of
Donald Trump was released where he told a news reporter, “And
when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. . . .
Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
5. After the Weinstein case other celebrities have had similar
cases released to the public such as Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes,
and Bill Cosby.

The article ask the question of how can we change the #me Too movement from “me” to “we”? 4. It explains how we as a people have to move from identifying the problem to actually solving the problem were raising awareness too. 5. The plan is to include efforts that will create legislation that will penalize companies who do nothing to stop harassment in there organizations, this helps discourage silenced victims of abuse and harassment. 6. These women who started this movement in hollywood are a combination of actors, agents, writers, directors, producers, and executives, women in privileged positions of power. 7. The #Me too movement was intially created to attack workplace sexsim , harrasment and abuse. How do the sources come together? 1. This article connects to the other articles on the #Me Too movement because it criticizes #Me too. Similar to the Valerya Safranovas “Catherine Deneuve and others denounce the #Me Too Movement” which criticized the #Me Too movement by arguing that some believe that a lot of the people accused of being assaulters and offenders are being punished too harshly for their crimes. What does the #Me Too movement do? 2. The #Me Too movement exposes and raises awareness to sexism, harassment, and abuse within the workplace. Why is it important? 3. Weinstein has been trailed by rumors of sexual harassment and assault for more than twenty years. 3. Because of Weinstein’s position of power, him and his associates used nondisclosure agreements, payoffs, and threats of legal action to prevent women from speaking out 4. thirteen women spoke out saying that between the nineteen- nineties and 2015, Weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted them. 5. On October 5th, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey released a report in the New York Times, revealing many allegations of sexual harassment against Weinstein this article led to four members of the Weinstein Company’s resigning, and to Weinstein being fired. 6. When someone would resist Weinstein’s advances or complained about them to company representatives, Weinstein would have them removed from anything they were doing with company and discourage other companies from hiring them. 7. His power over these women made them feel trapped and that they could not do anything C. What events show the need for this movement 1. Sixteen former and current executives and assistants at Weinstein’s companies said that they have witnessed or had knowledge of the inappropriate behavior at Weinstein’s films and in the workplace. 2. All sixteen said that the behavior was widely known within both Miramax and the Weinstein Company 3. Many people were fully aware of his behavior but just chose to ignore it 4. In October, 2016, a month before the election, a video of Donald Trump was released where he told a news reporter, “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. . . . Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.” 5. After the Weinstein case other celebrities have had similar cases released to the public such as Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes,
