Matthew 12:9-14
12:9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had [his] hand withered. And
they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they
might accuse him.
You better hope it is, because the Sabbath is a picture of the
Millennium.
Heb 4:4-11 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on
this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And
in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeingtherefore
it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was
first preachedentered not in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth
a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is
said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if
Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterwardhave spoken
of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of
God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceasedfrom
his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to
enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of
unbelief.
Isa 30:26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the
sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven
days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,
and healeth the stroke of their wound.

12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that
shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not
lay hold on it, and lift [it] out?
12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful
to do well on the sabbath days.
Under exceptional need God allows the Jews to break the Sabbath;
which shows God is more concerned with heart than the feet.
1Cor 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle
the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care

they might destroy him.

which had a withered hand.

that they might accuse him.
They were not watching to see if He could heal, but if they could
accuse Him of breaking the Sabbath.
3. 3:3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
3:4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or
to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being
grieved for the hardness of their hearts,he saith unto the man, Stretch
forth thine hand. And he stretched [it] out: and his hand was restored whole
as the other.
They revealed their hard hearts by not attempting to answer His question.

6:8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered
hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
6:9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the
sabbath days to do good,or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy [it]?
6:10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch
forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the

8. The “publicans and sinners” is a class the Jews thought of as the lowestof the

The fallen woman: Luke 7:39
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake
within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have
known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him:
for she is a sinner.
The blind man: John 9:31, 34
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a

answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and
dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
