In order to share power some have to
be willing to relinquish power and
others to embrace it.

• Positional – formal, hierarchical, position
related
• Resources and rewards – control of resources
• Knowledge and expertise
• Personal influence – track record, personal
qualities, social skills
• Networks and gossip – internal and external
networks give access to valuable information
• Energy and stamina – staying power, courage
