2. Introduction
Fibronectin
Definition: Fn is a glucoprotein that is produced by the hepatocites
and then is poured into the plasma, where it is found as a soluble
form. Functions:
Blood coagulation
Cicatrization
Phagocytosis
Fibrillogenesis
Cell adhesion to the matrix
3. Introduction
Cancer
Definition: CA is a diseasse in which the cicle cell
division is not controled, neither the cells proliferation.
This diseasse may affect the ”guest” body leading to its
death.
RCC (Renal cell carcinoma): is the most common renal
malignancy. It acccounts 3% of all human CA. It is more
common between 50-70 y/old men. In India, the
incidence is twice in men than women (2/100.000 vs
1/100.000).
5. Methods
PATIENTS
Study period: 18 months (From April 2016 to September 2017)
Numer of patients: 21
Where were they from?: they were from the Department of
Urology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, India.
Which samples were taken?: tummor tissue samples from a partial
or radical nephrectomy for de RCC diagnosis.
7. Methods
SDS PAGE: SDS PAGE was used to identify the
presence of proteins (fibronectin) in a specific
sample (tummor tissues s.)
8. RESULTS • Tumor tissues -> red
• Normal tissues -> black
• The exception is t3.The reason is that in the study they found that from
the advanced stage tissues (3-4 stage) 2 had a fibronectine increase and 3
had a drecrease
• “In early renal tumours fibronectin is increased in 13 cases but decreased
in 3 cases while in advanced renal tu- mours it is increased in only 2 cases
but decreased in 3 cases (p = 0.115, Fisher’s exact test). “
9. RESULTS
As a general result, there is an increase in the fibronectine expression in RCC, compared to th
normal cells.
11. DISCUSION
INGLES 1.
Wakes et al. “At the same time they concluded that the increase in
FN is higher as the stage of disease advances. “ X
Steffens et al. [13] collected 270 clear cell RCC tis- sue specimens
of patients who had surgery for the disease and did
immunohistochemistry on the tissue. They found to have no
significant association between cytoplasmic FN staining and
patient characteristics such as age, gender, tumor differentiation
and visceral metastasis. X
He et al.YES.Also used immunohistochemestry and had a similar
result.
12. CONCLUSION
An early stage patient should have a higher expression of the
fibronectine compared to an advanced one.
Between the shown discussions, the results were more different
that what was stated in the conclusion of the article.
