RatanTata completed his schooling from Campion School in
Mumbai
He completed his Bachelor in architecture with structural
engineering from Cornell University in 1962
And the Advanced Management Program from Harvard
Business School in 1975
6. • Business Career :
When he returned to India in 1962 after turning down a job with IBM on the
advice of JRD, he was sent to Jamshedpur to work on the shop floor atTata
Steel
In 1971, he was appointed the Director of National Radio and
Electronics(Nelco)
In 1981, JRDTata stepped down asTata Industries chairman, naming Ratan
as his successor. He was heavily criticized for lacking experience in running
a company of the scale ofTata Industries
7. In 1991, he was appointed group chairman of
theTata group
Under his stewardship,TataTea acquired
Tetley,Tata motors acquired Jaguar Land Rover
andTata Steel acquired Corus, which have
