STRATEGIES FOR TAKING NOTES

• To take notes you can write down
  individual words, phrases or
  sentences.
• Get your ideas on paper without
  worring about grammar.
• Your notes don’t need to be complete
sentences, just enough to help you
  recall the information you heard.
                                    2
IDIOMS

A group of idioms are phrases or
 sentences whose meaning can’t be
 determined from knowing the
 meaning of the individual words.

Example: That test was a piece of
 cake.
SUGGESTIONS…
 Keep a book of idioms and phrases
 you are learning. Then categorize
 them by topic or alphabetically.

 Include the idioms, the meaning,
 and a complete sentence.
SYLLABLES
 As we speak we commonly check the
  listener understands what we are
saying. With your books closed try to
  list some phrases for checking
  undersntanding you know.
VOCABULARY EXPANSION
 Play the audios to practice using
  vocabulary in context.
 Begin with short sentences and
  progress to more complex ones.
 This practice must be done weekly to
  practice vocabulary, spelling,
  capitalization, and punctuation.
THANK YOU

 GOOD LUCK
