Ankle Pain Research Paper
Human beings tend to take their bodies and mobility for granted. Until one day the aches and pains start, and we suddenly realize a simple act like
walking, pain–free, isn't something to be taken for granted.
Ankle pain is associated with different conditions such as arthritis, a sprain or other injury, and any number of more elusive causes.
While there are numerous medications your doctor may prescribe, often these come with their own nasty side effects like nausea, dizziness, or the
exacerbation of conditions such as hypertension and digestive upset. This is why many people are now opting for more natural ways to treat their ankle
pain.
Here are 8 natural ways to extinguish ankle pain.
Cold Therapy

There is no need to ice for more than 20 minutes and, should the cold feel too intense, place a towel or T–shirt between your skin and the ice bag.
Epsom Salt Bath
Heat therapy is also a time–honored method of eliminating pain, though is typically used once the initial injury has been iced for a few days. Taking a
warm Epsom Salt bath is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to treat ankle pain.
Epsom Salt – or magnesium sulfate – relaxes sore muscles due to a physical workout or strain from an injury. Often, when you've twisted your ankle,
your muscles try and make up for the fact that ligaments and tendons have been injured. This causes additional strain and muscle tightness, which leads
to pain on top of pain.
You can either soak your entire body in an Epsom Salt bath, or fill a bucket – like one of those tall Home Depot buckets – with warm water and a cup
of Epsom Salt.
Essential Oils
Coconut and garlic oil have been used for years to effectively treat numerous conditions. Coconut oil is great for treating everything from dry skin to
digestive upset, hormonal imbalances and also aids with weight loss. Garlic oil is used by many to treat Candida, colds, ear infections and

Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal

Physician Assisted Suicide Currently, in Vermont, California, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico, lethal medication is being given to terminally Ill
patients to end their lives. There are several reasons why assisted suicide is illegal in the majority of states, such as the demand for suicide due to a
patient 's excruciating pain, misinterpreted life expectancies and diagnoses, poor medical coverage by insurance companies, and the financial interests
of the patients families. On the other hand, some suggest various reasons why assisted suicide should be legal. The legal status of physician assisted
suicide, as a hotly debated topic, teeters on both sides of legality in varying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has a capability of administering a constant delivery of a drug into the body. Sudden pain can be ceased instantly by the patients PCA.
Barriers to effective pain management exist. These barriers include: religious belief, poor practice by doctors, patient fear, and incorrect doses of
medication. The issues of the barriers are being addressed with great efforts to remove them. Removing these barriers is the answer to full pain
management on the opposing side to physician assisted suicide (Balch, Waters 7). The majority of patients requesting assisted suicide due to pain
decided against suicide after their pain was treated properly. "...the availability of assisted suicide may lead to a decrease in or failure to increase the
availability of pain management..." (Harned 515).
Terminally ill patients sometimes have misinterpreted life expectancies or even experience unexpected healing. Sharyn MacKay, a forty–six year old
diagnosed with a kidney tumor, was told the cancer had spread and was incurable. Her doctors believed that chemotherapy would only add a few
weeks to her life. However, MacKay strongly believed that she could win her battle against cancer. Three months later, after prayer and determination,
her tumor had disappeared. Another example of this healing involves a man named John Pattison, aged twenty–one. In 1974, he was diagnosed with
lymphatic cancer and was not expected to live more than six months. He

After Great Pain
The poem After great pain, a formal feeling comes, written by Emily Dickenson in 1862 shows the reader how Emily Dickinson had been going
through a hard time in her life by expressing her pains in the poem. Using similes, alliteration, personification, and key words she is able to convey the
central theme of a numb almost empty feeling that comes after a great pain.
A representation of this is made evident in the poems first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes– "Straight from the beginning Emily
Dickenson uses one of the most salient words in the poem; formal. Formal can easily be spotted as a key word because of its rich and rather deep
meaning in the poem. For example, its being used to set a sad mood in the writing as well as express a situation in which there's a need to suppress a
feeling. Ultimately giving the poem a depressed like aroma in the readers mind. Continuing the line Emily Dickenson adds in some alliteration when
she writes "a formal feeling" to help emphasize the previously given feeling conveyed by the key word formal.
Moreover, in the second line Emily Dickinson decides to add in another key word; nerves. Emily Dickenson then decides to place it next to
ceremonious, and with the mixture of these words Emily is able to effectively expresses a stiffness in the nerves of the body. Relating back to the
central theme of the poem, a numbness being felt after a great pain. Furthermore, towards the end of the line she emphasizes the numbness talked

Pain: A Concept Analysis Everywhere you turn you see ad's for pain relief, or people talking about theirpain. Google the word pain and you have
almost 900 million searches. There are more than 2.9 millions scholarly articles written on pain. It is portrayed by artists such as Mexican painter
Frida Kahlo who was impaled during a trolley accident as a teenager. We all talk about it, think about it and worry about it. So what is pain? As
nurses we learn it is the fifth vital sign. Oxford Dictionary describes it as a) highly unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury, b) mental
suffering or loss, c) an annoying tedious person d) great care or trouble (Oxford Dictionary/English, 2017). In Mosby's Medical Dictionary pain is
stated as an unpleasant sensation caused by noxious stimulation of the sensory nerve endings. It is a subjective feeling and an individual response to
the cause ( Mosby, 2013) Throughout history Philosophers have expounded on pain. Plato (427–347, B.C.), proposed the idea of the soul, pain and
pleasure. He believed that pain arose not only from peripheral stimulation but also as an emotional experience in the soul. Pleasure derived from pain
relief. Both pain and pleasure affect the whole body (Bonica, 1990). In

Everyone will have to deal with the death of a family member or friend, as well as his or her own mortality. The certainty of the end of life can be
very stressful and overwhelming. Many aspects of caregiving, treatment, and pain management are all part of the journey towards the end of one's life.
Many people are unclear about pain and symptom management during the end of life. Some believe that if you choose to medicate for pain then they

In order for Mrs. S to obtain optimum pain management, she required multiple medications. As she became progressively worse, the hospice nurse
monitored her pain, pain relief, and adverse effects. Mrs. S often resisted taking medications that might sedate her, because she was the primary
caregiver for her 90–year–old mother who had late–stage dementia. Mrs. S's own primary caregiver was her husband of 45 years. He was very
distressed about her illness and did not know what to do as his wife had always taken care of everything.
Pain is understood to be a whole person experience that has not only a physical source but also psychosocial and spiritual dimensions. Therefore,
comprehensive pain relief must include interventions that target psychological, spiritual, and social distress. There are many complementary therapies
for pain. Heat, cold, and massage are helpful in treating physical pain. Psychological approaches such as relaxation, distraction, meditation, and
attention to spiritual distress are methods for addressing psychological pain. Complementary therapies offer family members opportunities to comfort
the patient at the end of life. In the case of Mrs. S, involving her husband in positioning her, use of massage, playing calming music, and reading from
her Bible provided an opportunity for him to replace his sense of helplessness with a sense of helpfulness.

Evolution Of Social Pain
After being rejected or losing someone, a feeling of pain follows. People will describe their upset feelings as "physical–pain." For instance, some will
say "I'm crushed" and "my heart is broken," knowing they are not physically crushed and their heart is not physically broken. This feeling of pain
seems to happen to everyone around the world, even with people that speak different languages. Although many falsely describe their social pains as
physical pains, researchers are starting to believe that rejection and other social conflicts indeed are associated with physical pains.
The evolution of social pain can be considered appropriate in describing how social pain can actually be hurtful. For instance, a child is dependent on ...

that factors that increase or decrease sensitivity to one pain will do the same to the other pain. For instance, if a factor increases physical pain

addition, it was found that social support, such as holding a loved one's hand or seeing a picture of a loved one, reduced pain related activity in the

What Do Bunions Feel Like?
Wondering what bunions feel like? If you're curious, you likely are experiencing foot pain of some sort. Foot pain can be the result of many different

Bunions present themselves as a bony lump at the base of the big toe on the side of the foot. This results in constant pressure when walking since they
occur at a joint in the toe. You'll notice a lump or deformity as things progress which often rubs against shoes causingpain. This is especially true for

After Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes
Emily Dickinson effectively captures human suffering in its rawest form. In comparison to her other works, Dickinson's "After Great Pain, a Formal
Feeling Comes" may be her most discomforting work. The piece is dismaying in that it forces the reader to unwrap our darkest emotions: sadness,
anguish, and anxiety. While other poets speak of the joys of love or the finality ofdeath, Dickinson unravels the emotional wounds inflicted upon
humanity by grief, heartache, and loss. In the piece, Dickinson painstakingly takes the reader through the process of dealing with our often ignored
emotions.
The beginning of "After a Great Pain" features jarring iambic pentameter, "After great pain, a formal feeling comes" (1) as well as strong alliterative "f"
sounds that transform the poem into a violently erratic hymn that is suddenly halted by the end–stopped line. In feeling "formal", humans will still feel
"great pain" yet attempt to hide their pain. In the process of hiding our pain from others, the "Nerves sit ceremonious like tombs ... Show more content

According to Dickinson, the "stiff Heart questions 'was it He that bore'" (3) "'And yesterday, or centuries before?' (4). The multiple "s" sounds and
rhyming scheme add a dismal singsong symphony to the last few lines of the stanza. The gloominess within the first stanza is intensified as the heart
wonders if such an immense pain existed "yesterday" or "centuries before." Similarly to a person who is grieving a loss, the heart has lost all sense
of time. A lack of awareness only prolongs the pain. Since Dickinson's family practiced Calvinism (Emily Dickinson and the Church), she probably
wondered if Jesus Christ went through the emotional agony that can decimate human tenacity, hence the capitalization of "He" in line three. After all,
Christ allows the numb soul to feel less lonely as Jesus suffered the most painful ordeal of all, his

Emily Dickinson After Great Pain
In her poem titled "After Great Pain," Emily Dickinson discusses a painful event the protagonist of her poem encounters; the aftermath of a
relationship. She begins by writing, "After great pain, a formal feeling comes." In the third line of her first stanza, Dickinson writes, "The stiff Heart
questions, was it He, that bore." Who is Dickinson referring to when she writes "He"? And, what is Dickinson trying to convey by capitalizing "He"?
To answer this question, we will go through each of the three stanzas and do a close reading line by line. Evidently, Dickinson paints the aftermath of
the relationship through the perspective of the woman in the poem. The literary methods Dickinson uses to convey the feelings of loss are devices that

Dickinson begins her third stanza by writing, "This is the Hour of Lead," making reference to the element Lead which has a long half–life. Perhaps,
Dickinson is telling her readers that the protagonist in the poem feels that although the breakup occurred rapidly, the after thoughts and difficulty will
last an extremely long time, and may never decay from her memory. Or perhaps Dickinson is conveying to her readers that just like Lead is dark and
heavy in nature, so too, it is too emotionally and mentally taxing for the protagonist to genuinely remember former significant other. When Dickinson
writes "As Freezing persons, recollect the Snow," she describes how the woman regresses to her past to recollect all the memories she amassed from
her long relationship. Moreover, the woman is "freezing" the fond memories she collected. Initially, the protagonist responds by choosing to hold onto
certain memories, but as time elapses the protagonist experiences a "Chill"–a cold, numbing moment, followed by a "Stupor"–unconsciousness. Finally,
she experiences "letting go." The protagonist concludes that her romantic relationship ended, and so she must let go of her significant other–much like
a mourner does after the loss of a loved one. Interestingly, Dickinson writes the final line of her poem using four line breaks, which signal to the reader
to read the poem

Ambiguity In Emily Dickinson's After Great Pain
With all great poems comes a sense of ambiguity that cannot be described. These statements can always then be interpreted by the reader by their
own senses, feelings and thoughts of morality. Emily Dickinson uses this technique to question ones meaning in life and even the morality of order
and entropy in after great pain, a formal feeling comes aside from the poetic devices that Emily uses (such as iambic pentameter, personification,
contradictions) her use of symbolisms makes the reader question and wonder about why it is that things are done, and the overall point in even doing
them. The first stanza begins in a quatrain form, and leads the reader in with the first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes–" This can be
interpreted many ways, and as I mentioned before can be dependant upon the readers past experiences. The first part of the sentence "after great
pain" prepares you for the result that's yet to come, which is the idea of the "formal feeling", it could be possibly referencing how we act upon the
loss of a departed one, attending funerals and saying goodbye in a formal setting, without being able to let loose fully. But there are other ways to
interpret this line, as pain is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel like i can understand it due to the fact the idea of pain has always intrigued me. I have studied the idea of emotional pain (in psychology) since

"the feet, mechanical, go round– A wooden way of ground or air, or ought–" . As mentioned before, after great pain, a formal feeling comes, but what
can be attributed to this formal feeling. This formal feeling is one that is felt by many, a sort of numbness and acceptance. Personally I have felt this

Research Paper On Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis Treatment: A Multifaceted Problem with New Treatment Possibilities
Heel pain is one of the most common physical complaints, affecting about 10 percent of Americans. The pain may be mild or severe, making it
difficult to perform the normal activities of daily life. While there can be several different sources of heel pain, the most common is a condition called
plantar fasciitis.
What is plantar fasciitis?
The plantar fascia is a tough, flat band of connective tissue that runs underneath the foot, attaching the heel to the bones of the foot. It helps coordinate
the motions of the foot and ankle, and may also work as a shock absorber for the body.
In plantar fasciitis, the fascia becomes swollen or irritated through injury or over–use, making it painful to walk. The band may shorten during ... Show

Instead of assuming that heel pain originates only in the heel, it makes sense to consider that there could be irritable spots anywhere along the
integrated system. These hypersensitive spots in the skeletal muscle, called myofascial trigger points, may create dysfunction anywhere along the leg,
but ultimately may be experienced as heel pain.
New approaches to therapy
Practitioners are beginning to pay attention to these trigger points and to manipulate them to treat plantar fasciitis. The results have been exciting. Case
studies using both acupuncture and ischemic compression therapy suggest that treating trigger points along the muscle lines may have profound effects
upon plantar fasciitis pain. In some cases, patients have reported immediate pain relief as well as a feeling of lightness.
Because plantar fasciitis is a complicated problem with many contributing factors, therapists cannot use a single–focus solution. Applying treatment
along the entire line of integrated muscles and connective fibers holds great

Psychological Relationship between the Sensory Affective Dimensions of Pain Pain can be described in a number of different ways, but is determined
by the perception of pain that they are experiencing. "Pain is something that comes from our experiences and develops due to stimulation and human
interaction. It involves concepts such as location, feelings of unpleasantness and having the sensation of pain. Pain becomes possible because of a
psychological development that begins at birth" (Challies). The sensory pain is the quality of the pain experienced in a particular location and is
often described as a sensational form of hurt. The affective pain is described as an emotional experience in which pain is perceived by the individual.

Neuropathic pain is a form of chronic pain that affects nerve fibers and the affected fibers send incorrect signals to the area causing pain on and
around the area. What is Pain? Pain is created by activation of nociceptors in the skin that respond to different types of stimulation. "Signals from the
nociceptors are transmitted to the spinal cord and then from the dorsal root of the spinal cord along pathways that lead to the brain" (Goldstein). Pain
travels from the nervous system to the spinal cord and then finally reaches the brain where it processes what has happened and associates that with
pain. However, it is difficult to define exactly what pain is because it varies with each person. "While it may seem simple, the process of detecting
pain is complicated by the fact that it is not a one–way system. It isn't even a two–way system. Pain is more than just cause and effect: it is affected by
everything else that is going on in the nervous system. Your mood, your past experiences and your expectations can all change the way pain is
interpreted at any given time" (Jacques).
Sensory and Affective dimensions of Pain Multiple factors contribute to pain unpleasantness, and several sensory attributes of pain can dispose the
individual to unpleasant emotional feelings. "The foremost among these is that sensations of pain are often more intense than other types

Physical Therapy And Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is a huge issue for many people. A lot of people with chronic pain become depressed because they can't move or do simple tasks without
being in a great amount of pain. Chronic pain can be caused by osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, and neuropathic
pain, which is caused by injury to tissues or nerves. Physical therapy helps chronic pain patients become stronger, so they're able to move better.
Physical therapy can also teach people how to move safely and function better than they used to with chronic pain. Exercise can involve walking on a
treadmill or swimming in a pool. Physical therapy helps to build strength in the muscles, builds endurance, stability in the joints, and flexibility in
the muscles and joints. Keeping a regular exercise routine will also help control chronic pain. Regular exercise from physical therapy will help
people maintain the ability to move and function properly, and prevent people from becoming disabled by their chronic pain. The less a person
moves, the more pain a person will experience. The more physical therapy a person receives, the more they learn to control their pain, the less pain
they feel, and they'll be more able to function in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance
Healing and Deliverance
I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal
views and description of healing and deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does
not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take
years for a cure. Healing requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set of
stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and
back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close
attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to
use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply
too much pressure to my ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was able
to walk again without bearing any pain.
I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with pain and go through the process of deliverance. I
believe our greatest pain comes when something is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we
will never forget.
Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have
you ever had a painful experience that left you numb, perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to heal. I
remember watching the movie Diary of a Woman. The story centered on a cruel male lawyer and loyal wife who had marital problems. The marriage
experienced great sufferings and left great physical, mental and emotional pain for both the wife and

Ralph Waldo Emerson's Argumentative Essay
Jacob Bronowski once said, "The wish to hurt, the momentary intoxication with pain, is the loophole through, which the pervert climbs into the minds
of ordinary men" (qtd. in "Bronowski."). He elaborates that wanting someone to feel agony is immoral. Society frowns upon obliterating another
person's reputation for self–benefit. Most people characterize hurt as physical soreness, but to completely understand how the word has evolved it helps
to look at the etymology and the diverse definitions that exist in economics, sports, and psychology.
Throughout the centuries, transformations have occurred making Diving deeper into the etymology of a word makes it easier to see the
transformations that occurred throughout the centuries. Hurt was derived from the Old French word hurte, meaning to knock or strike two things
together that causes damage (Harper). Ralph Waldo Emerson, a prominent author in the 19th century wrote in his essay, Circles, "You admire this tower

Personal Reflection Of The Pain Management On 2B
I have been taken care of 4 patients towards the end of my time on 2B. I think I handled it well. It can be challenging sometimes. For example, I
had to discharge one patient by 10am. And the staff meeting for my newly admitted patient was around the same time. Besides, one of my patients
approached me to have PRNs, the forth patient also requested a shave. On 2B, shaving has to be supervised by staff. All my patients needed me at
once. I learned to ask help from other RNs and delegate appropriate tasks to NA in order to get things done on time. Sometimes, we don't have
enough help. I had to prioritize my tasks and patients' needs. Of course, I offer my help to my fellow RNs when they're busy. I had completed blood
draws for others many times (11).
The pain management on 2B is quite different. (7) This is because many of the common non–pharmacological interventions are considered unsafe due
to the high suicide risk in our patient population. There is no heat or cold pad due to the toxic chemical contents. K pad is also not available due to
the long tubings for risk of strangulation. Aromatherapy is also out of picture. I often feel limited when my patients ask me for pain interventions as
there are not as many options available as in other units. Fortunately, there are organized group activities offered by OT daily on 2B. They mainly focus
on relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness practices. I encourage my patients to participate in those groups, and practice those

Pain And Perception Of Pain
Pain is not only defined as a sensation or a physical awareness, but also entails perception. Moreover, pain is an unpleasant and an uncomfortable
emotion that is transferred to the brain by sensory neurons. There are various kinds of pain and how one perceives them is varied as well. Certain
parts of the brain also play a key role in how one feels pain such as the parietal lobe, which is involved in interpreting pain while the hypothalamus is
responsible for the response to pain one has. Although some believe pain is just a physical awareness and is in the body, pain is all in one'smind
because the perception of pain and the emotion that controls its intensity differs in individuals and when pain itself is administered to the body, the
brain determines the emotions one attaches to each painful experience.
The perception of pain and the emotions that control intensity differ in individuals. Since feeling pain is somewhat adaptive, when one experiences it,
he or she becomes aware of an injury and tries to remove oneself from the source that caused the injury. For this reason, pain is considered neuropathic
or inflammatory in nature. Thus, when pain is the outcome from the damage caused to the neurons of the peripheral and central nervous system, then
that pain is neuropathic. However, if the pain signals any kind of tissue damage, then the pain is inflammatory in nature. Due to various types of pain,
the interpretation of pain by neurons and the source of that pain

Doctors are prescribing these medications in order to treat pain, but it is not the solution for all pain related cases. According to the Allen, Jewers, &
McDonald (2014), opioids are the second most prescribed medications in emergency medicine and opioid abuse has increased at an alarming rate.
There is little education and training given to emergency personnel on pain management and risk of addiction. Understanding factors such as the pain
scale, acute pain, chronic pain, addiction and pain at end of life, are vital and should be thoroughly evaluated before opioids are prescribed.
Ensuring appropriate use for pain medication can reduce the risk of harm associated with misuse and abuse. If emergency personnel are not
understanding how to treat pain, there will continue to be an increase in the amount of over prescribed medications in the United States. Acute and
chronic pain play major factors when it comes to prescribing medication. The importance of understanding when to use opioid medication such as for
acute pain, chronic pain, and end of life is an ongoing educational process that still needs to be addressed. Education to the patient also needs to be
addressed. Teaching patients about the high addictive properties opioids have on the brain is important. Some people take pain medication just
because the doctor prescribed it, and they really don't understand how to use it. If they aren't understanding how to use medication it can lead to
misuse, abuse, and/or even overdose. Also, the false reality mind frame people have been given that they will be pain free with just a pill. Medications
are meant to help with pain, not eliminate pain which is why education to patients is so

Analysis Of After Great Pain By Emily Dickinson
In the poem After great pain, a formal feeling comes, Emily Dickenson uses similes, alliteration, personification, and key words to convey the central
theme of a numb almost empty feeling that comes after death or a great pain.
A representation of this is made evident in the poems first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes– "Straight from the beginning Emily
Dickenson uses one of the most salient words in the poem; formal. Formal can easily be spotted as a key word because of its rich and rather deep
meaning in the poem. For example, its being used to set a sad mood in the writing as well as express a situation in which there's a need to suppress
that feeling. Ultimately giving the poem a depressed like aroma in the readers mind. Continuing the line Emily Dickenson adds in some alliteration
when she writes "a formal feeling" to help emphasize the previously given feeling conveyed by the key word formal.
Moreover, in the second line Emily Dickinson decides to add in another key word; nerves. Emily Dickenson then decides to place it next to
ceremonious which overall expresses a stiffness in the nerves of the body relating back to the central theme of a numbness being felt after a great pain.
Furthermore, in the last part of the line she emphasizes the numbness talked about by throwing in a simile which compares the stiff nerves to tombs
which also lay stiff.
In the third line Emily Dickinson repeats the trend of talking about a numbness by including the key word

Trigger Point Therapy Research Paper
Trigger Point Therapy
In order to explain what trigger point therapy is, it is necessary to understand what a trigger point is.
A trigger point is a spot in the body within the muscle tissue that can cause pain in other parts of the body. For example, by pressing a trigger point on
someone's back, they may begin to feel the pain in another spot such as their neck. It can cause a dull or sharp pain when done.
If a trigger point is used to cause pain, then how can it benefit people?
Trigger point therapy is used to cause pain to go through cycles that will eventually cause it to be relieved.

Trigger point therapy is designed specifically to the individual and their needs. There is no set routine as each person is treated differently and catered
to their individual needs.
Trigger Point Therapy is great for chronic pain
For those that experience chronic pain and hardly have a moment in which they are pain free, trigger point therapy can be very beneficial.
Many people that suffer from chronic pain have to deal with the difficulties that come along with taking pain medication. Many may find themselves
take multiple pills per day and never getting full relief from the pain.
That's when finding a natural way to relieve pain becomes life changing. Not only can trigger point therapy help decrease pain for a long amount of
time, there are absolutely no side effects to the technique.
Trigger point therapy will not only relive pain, but it will also relieve stress and tension that is built up in the muscles. This can improve the individual's
overall health.
Going through this technique can seem a little intimidating at first, but having faith and trusting in the professional performing the technique can make

Descriptive Essay On A Lake House
My skin soaking up the sun, the water splashing at my face, and the constant wind in my hair are my favorite little things while on the boat at my
lake house. As I sit on the boat I take in every stress free moment it offers to me. My lake house is on Shafer Lake, which is right in the middle of a
small town Monon, Indiana. Aside from living in Italy, this is where I picture my life after retirement. "Lake time is always a great time." Dad says.
"Lake time is always a great time." My little brother repeats after him.
July 5th 2016 was a very hot and very sunny day, it felt as if my skin was being cooked. My family and I went on the boat and hung out by the sand
bar all morning. It's mixed emotions being on the tube, considering the boat is going about 35 MPH, I'm on a tube in the wavy lake, connected by a
rope to the boat. It's hard to focus on one emotion. I'm excited and terrified all in one. Although we picture lake time always being a great time, that
July day was not a great time. I remember feeling as if our bodies were giving in to the sun so we decided to call it a day around 2 PM. We approached

from the sides, my brothers, my mom, and I will grab the sides of the pier as my dad steers it.
"Jess wake up!" My mother shouted in hopes I wake up to help dock the boat. My immediate response was to stick my leg out of

Euthanasia, why you should end your life in peace. Essay
Euthanasia, why you should end your life in peace.
Euthanasia.
Resting in peace.
Euthanasia is the process of peacefully ending the life of a terminally–ill person. This process should be legalised for people who have been suffering in
pain for extensive periods of time. If a person wants to end their life with family and friends, they should be allowed to, rather then perhaps dying
suddenly with no–one around. The issue of Euthanasia has been around for almost a century, when in 1906 the American state of Ohio drafted a bill
allowing the legal suicide of terminally–ill patients. Whilst this bill was ultimately unsuccessful, it paved the way for many societies and legislation to
be introduced, including a Worldwide Euthanasia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many reasons why Euthanasia should become a legal and accepted procedure.
Patients who choose to take this course of action suffer diseases ranging from AIDS to ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease). These diseases basically render
most sufferers immobile and leave these people in unbelievable pain. It would much easier for them to end this pain, in the presence of their family
and friends. Their final moments would be with loved ones, and the final procedure is painless and peaceful. Why make them suffer in great pain for
even more time? Pro–Euthanasia activists have developed several machines for this procedure, including the most recent which allows the patient to
inhale a lethal dose of Carbon Monoxide, this machine allows the user to die in a quick and painless death, much like falling asleep. This is a much
better choice than finally passing in a great deal of pain. The machines would also let the person die with dignity, as they are expecting the death and
they can say their final goodbyes, rather than suddenly passing and being alone for your final moments on Earth.
Choosing this method of dying is also being very kind to other people. This person is being selfless without even perhaps realizing it. Many are too
sick to move and are confined to a hospital bed or a constant visit to make sure they are ok. When a patient chooses to voluntarily die, they are freeing
beds which can in turn be used for emergency patients and people who are healthy and can

Literary Summary : Beauty Is Pain During Anglo-Saxon War
Beauty Is Pain
During Anglo–Saxon period, the warfare and division in the region expanded the exile and pain in these elegies in Exeter Book. The separation and
banishment arouse great sadness and grief among the people who have in the exile. In all these three elegies, the Seafarer, the Wanderer, and the Wife's
Lament create pain and sorrow through main character to express beauty from these painful experiences.
In the Seafarer, a hopeless man is suffering the pain during his duty as a sealer. Burton Raffel presents the extremely loneliness and sadness to be a
sealer "my feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains, and hardship groaned around my heart". (Raffel) By showing physical
pain in terrible cold winter, the author indicate that the man only can endure the weather because there is nothing for him to do to change his
situation better. Along with the decreasing temperature and the worsening weather, the frozen bands raise and spread to his whole body and even
expand to his heart. Now, he is emotional not only experienced the pain on his body but also inside the deepest of his heart. With great distances away
from homeland, he is even more depressive and isolated to think about the comfortable "city dwellers" by comparing his hardship of life. In the end of
the poem, his spirit reaches to the climax and thinks that the beauty comes truly from God in the heaven. To clarify how important the God is to the
man, Burton Raffel states "to rise to that eternal joy, that life born in the love of God and the hope of Heaven, praise the Holy Grace of him who
honored us, eternal, unchanging creator of Earth". (Raffel) The speaker discusses that the worldly things no longer affect the sealer's emotion because
the home with presents and praises for the man is in the heaven with God's glory. The harsh condition through his life can overcome by dreaming
beautiful and spiritual life different from the sinful soul covering the earth. The elegy like a imagery is pictured when sunshines shine to melt the ice
bulk to the soften liquid. The sealer's beauty comes from the pain which leads him to understand the belief toward God and heaven that means working
hard and living humbly in order to get eternal

Examples Of Pain In Antigone
Pain. A word, a feeling we all flinch from, avoid at all costs. We hope for a smooth life, not one riddled with trials and suffering. And rightfully so.
Pain hurts, whether physically or mentally. It makes us feel sad or helpless, feelings no one wants to experience. But, despite all our efforts, pain
always finds a way to borrow into our lives. It can't be stopped, merely delayed in some instances. It can show up as, say, a broken arm, or even the
death of someone close to us. We can try to prevent these with all the resources and knowledge at our disposal, but at some point, pain will reach you.
Now, this does not mean that we must automatically succumb to the suffering. In fact, it means quite the opposite. If pain is inevitable, ... Show more

By persevering through pain, one actually becomes a more improved person, with more resilience and knowledge. As one fights through each obstacle
thrown their way, they start to develop thicker skin, a more hardened facade. It is extremely difficult to pass through an instance of suffering
unchanged. And if one wades through the pain with determination and optimism, the inevitable change will be more resilience, not weakness, as
unfortunately happens to many people. Odysseus and Liesel both turned out stronger on account of the suffering they had to go through. When
Odysseus returned home to Ithaca, he was met with rudeness from the suitors and others, like the goatherd and his own maids. Before he left on his
journey, he would have surely blown up at them, losing his cool demeanor. But, after the suffering he had been through, his patience had increased,
thus improving his ability to keep calm at hurtful comments like the ones he received. Liesel experienced a scenario similar to Odysseus'. After all
she had faced, certain obstacles that would have disturbed others didn't faze her; they seemed trivial compared to what she had conquered beforehand.
This comparison factor made her scoff at the new trial, and beat it easily. Without her previous meetings with pain, she never would have developed
this carefree and beneficial viewpoint, just as

Essay On Dyspepsia
Gastrointestinal diseases are very common in different populations, and many physicians spend a great deal of time and energy to treat these
disorders carefully worldwide (Pasalar). Dyspepsia consists of a heterogeneous group of symp¬toms that are localized in the epigastric region, and
can be broadly defined as pain or discomfort that is centered in the upper abdomen (particularly the epigastrium) (nature). Functional dyspepsia, a
relapsing and remitting disorder, is the most common cause of these symptoms (nejm).

Symptoms must be chronic, occurring at least weekly and over a period of at least 6 months, in the absence of an organic explanation(nejm). The rome

with PDS typically report postprandial fullness and early satiation. Whereas those with EPS are more likely to experience epigastric pain and burning

functional disorders such as GERD or Irritable bowel syndrome but there are some symptoms which helps the physician to discriminate between these

Benefits Of Caregiver And Osteoarthritis
Caregiver and Osteoarthritis Support
According to Mayo Clinic, osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. It affects millions of people and seniors are most at risk since age
wears down the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones over time. Osteoarthritis is most common in the joints of your hands, knees, hips and
spine. No cure exists and it often gets worse over time.
Since osteoarthritis is a life–long condition, it can have a terrible impact on your loved one's quality of life. Often the pain of the disease leads to
frustration, anger, and depression. Thankfully, there are things that can be done to lessen the pain, discomfort, and limitations associated with this often
debilitating disease. Caregivers can play an important role in each of these activities.
One of the main methods of non–medicinal relief of osteoarthritis pain is exercise. While this may seem counterintuitive since moving often causes
pain, exercising strengthens the muscles around the joints which can alleviate pressure and pain. Further, exercise can lead to weight loss. Many
seniors who suffer from osteoarthritis are overweight. Each extra pound the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to enter a marijuana dispensary, learn about the benefits for pain, and use a product that best suites their

I.Introduction/Attention
A.Attention–getter: Living in Colorado the use of marijuana is legal and is used by many with success. Does anyone here know a person or is a person
who has used marijuana for pain relief?
B.Establishment of ethos: I was recently diagnosed with a type of an auto immune disease, which is when your immune system attacks your body
because it thinks that the healthy cells in your body are unknown. With the disease I wake up in the mornings with my hands so swollen that I can not
grasp my toothbrush. About a week ago I went into a dispensary and informed myself on what would help with the inflammation without having to
smoke the product and they gave me different options that could help. I started to use a lotion and I found it helpful with the amount of swelling and
pain in my joints. With the success of the product I continued with further research to identify the positive effects that marijuana provides. My sister
also uses marijuana to help her pain and it has been successful.

  • 2. Ankle Pain Research Paper Human beings tend to take their bodies and mobility for granted. Until one day the aches and pains start, and we suddenly realize a simple act like walking, pain–free, isn't something to be taken for granted. Ankle pain is associated with different conditions such as arthritis, a sprain or other injury, and any number of more elusive causes. While there are numerous medications your doctor may prescribe, often these come with their own nasty side effects like nausea, dizziness, or the exacerbation of conditions such as hypertension and digestive upset. This is why many people are now opting for more natural ways to treat their ankle pain. Here are 8 natural ways to extinguish ankle pain. Cold Therapy If you've suffered a recent sprain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no need to ice for more than 20 minutes and, should the cold feel too intense, place a towel or T–shirt between your skin and the ice bag. Epsom Salt Bath Heat therapy is also a time–honored method of eliminating pain, though is typically used once the initial injury has been iced for a few days. Taking a warm Epsom Salt bath is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to treat ankle pain. Epsom Salt – or magnesium sulfate – relaxes sore muscles due to a physical workout or strain from an injury. Often, when you've twisted your ankle, your muscles try and make up for the fact that ligaments and tendons have been injured. This causes additional strain and muscle tightness, which leads to pain on top of pain. You can either soak your entire body in an Epsom Salt bath, or fill a bucket – like one of those tall Home Depot buckets – with warm water and a cup of Epsom Salt. Essential Oils Coconut and garlic oil have been used for years to effectively treat numerous conditions. Coconut oil is great for treating everything from dry skin to digestive upset, hormonal imbalances and also aids with weight loss. Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal Brittany Hollar Ms. Jonte English III Period 5 10 April 2016 Physician Assisted Suicide Currently, in Vermont, California, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico, lethal medication is being given to terminally Ill patients to end their lives. There are several reasons why assisted suicide is illegal in the majority of states, such as the demand for suicide due to a patient 's excruciating pain, misinterpreted life expectancies and diagnoses, poor medical coverage by insurance companies, and the financial interests of the patients families. On the other hand, some suggest various reasons why assisted suicide should be legal. This has a capability of administering a constant delivery of a drug into the body. Sudden pain can be ceased instantly by the patients PCA. Barriers to effective pain management exist. These barriers include: religious belief, poor practice by doctors, patient fear, and incorrect doses of medication. The issues of the barriers are being addressed with great efforts to remove them. Removing these barriers is the answer to full pain management on the opposing side to physician assisted suicide (Balch, Waters 7). The majority of patients requesting assisted suicide due to pain decided against suicide after their pain was treated properly. "...the availability of assisted suicide may lead to a decrease in or failure to increase the availability of pain management..." (Harned 515). Terminally ill patients sometimes have misinterpreted life expectancies or even experience unexpected healing. Sharyn MacKay, a forty–six year old diagnosed with a kidney tumor, was told the cancer had spread and was incurable. Her doctors believed that chemotherapy would only add a few weeks to her life. However, MacKay strongly believed that she could win her battle against cancer. Three months later, after prayer and determination, her tumor had disappeared. Another example of this healing involves a man named John Pattison, aged twenty–one. In 1974, he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and was not expected to live more than six months. He ... • 4. After Great Pain The poem After great pain, a formal feeling comes, written by Emily Dickenson in 1862 shows the reader how Emily Dickinson had been going through a hard time in her life by expressing her pains in the poem. Using similes, alliteration, personification, and key words she is able to convey the central theme of a numb almost empty feeling that comes after a great pain. A representation of this is made evident in the poems first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes– "Straight from the beginning Emily Dickenson uses one of the most salient words in the poem; formal. Formal can easily be spotted as a key word because of its rich and rather deep meaning in the poem. For example, its being used to set a sad mood in the writing as well as express a situation in which there's a need to suppress a feeling. Ultimately giving the poem a depressed like aroma in the readers mind. Continuing the line Emily Dickenson adds in some alliteration when she writes "a formal feeling" to help emphasize the previously given feeling conveyed by the key word formal. Moreover, in the second line Emily Dickinson decides to add in another key word; nerves. Emily Dickenson then decides to place it next to ceremonious, and with the mixture of these words Emily is able to effectively expresses a stiffness in the nerves of the body. Relating back to the central theme of the poem, a numbness being felt after a great pain. Furthermore, towards the end of the line she emphasizes the numbness talked ... The certainty of the end of life can be very stressful and overwhelming. Many aspects of caregiving, treatment, and pain management are all part of the journey towards the end of one's life. Many people are unclear about pain and symptom management during the end of life. Some believe that if you choose to medicate for pain then they are hastening or responsible for the death of their loved one. Others believe that all measures should be taken to help prolong their loved one's life. No all deaths are the same. In order for Mrs. S to obtain optimum pain management, she required multiple medications. As she became progressively worse, the hospice nurse monitored her pain, pain relief, and adverse effects. Mrs. S often resisted taking medications that might sedate her, because she was the primary caregiver for her 90–year–old mother who had late–stage dementia. Mrs. S's own primary caregiver was her husband of 45 years. He was very distressed about her illness and did not know what to do as his wife had always taken care of everything. Pain is understood to be a whole person experience that has not only a physical source but also psychosocial and spiritual dimensions. Therefore, comprehensive pain relief must include interventions that target psychological, spiritual, and social distress. There are many complementary therapies for pain. Heat, cold, and massage are helpful in treating physical pain. Psychological approaches such as relaxation, distraction, meditation, and attention to spiritual distress are methods for addressing psychological pain. Complementary therapies offer family members opportunities to comfort the patient at the end of life. This feeling of pain seems to happen to everyone around the world, even with people that speak different languages. • 10. After Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes Emily Dickinson effectively captures human suffering in its rawest form. In comparison to her other works, Dickinson's "After Great Pain, a Formal Feeling Comes" may be her most discomforting work. The piece is dismaying in that it forces the reader to unwrap our darkest emotions: sadness, anguish, and anxiety. While other poets speak of the joys of love or the finality ofdeath, Dickinson unravels the emotional wounds inflicted upon humanity by grief, heartache, and loss. In the piece, Dickinson painstakingly takes the reader through the process of dealing with our often ignored emotions. The beginning of "After a Great Pain" features jarring iambic pentameter, "After great pain, a formal feeling comes" (1) as well as strong alliterative "f" sounds that transform the poem into a violently erratic hymn that is suddenly halted by the end–stopped line. In feeling "formal", humans will still feel "great pain" yet attempt to hide their pain. In the process of hiding our pain from others, the "Nerves sit ceremonious like tombs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Dickinson, the "stiff Heart questions 'was it He that bore'" (3) "'And yesterday, or centuries before?' (4). The multiple "s" sounds and rhyming scheme add a dismal singsong symphony to the last few lines of the stanza. The gloominess within the first stanza is intensified as the heart wonders if such an immense pain existed "yesterday" or "centuries before." Similarly to a person who is grieving a loss, the heart has lost all sense of time. A lack of awareness only prolongs the pain. Since Dickinson's family practiced Calvinism (Emily Dickinson and the Church), she probably wondered if Jesus Christ went through the emotional agony that can decimate human tenacity, hence the capitalization of "He" in line three. After all, Christ allows the numb soul to feel less lonely as Jesus suffered the most painful ordeal of all, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some turn to alcohol, some to prescription drugs, and others to cannabis in one form or another. Some of these means are regulated more than others and some of these cause problems in themselves. • 12. Emily Dickinson After Great Pain In her poem titled "After Great Pain," Emily Dickinson discusses a painful event the protagonist of her poem encounters; the aftermath of a relationship. She begins by writing, "After great pain, a formal feeling comes." In the third line of her first stanza, Dickinson writes, "The stiff Heart questions, was it He, that bore." Who is Dickinson referring to when she writes "He"? And, what is Dickinson trying to convey by capitalizing "He"? To answer this question, we will go through each of the three stanzas and do a close reading line by line. Evidently, Dickinson paints the aftermath of the relationship through the perspective of the woman in the poem. The literary methods Dickinson uses to convey the feelings of loss are devices that are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dickinson begins her third stanza by writing, "This is the Hour of Lead," making reference to the element Lead which has a long half–life. Perhaps, Dickinson is telling her readers that the protagonist in the poem feels that although the breakup occurred rapidly, the after thoughts and difficulty will last an extremely long time, and may never decay from her memory. Or perhaps Dickinson is conveying to her readers that just like Lead is dark and heavy in nature, so too, it is too emotionally and mentally taxing for the protagonist to genuinely remember former significant other. When Dickinson writes "As Freezing persons, recollect the Snow," she describes how the woman regresses to her past to recollect all the memories she amassed from her long relationship. Moreover, the woman is "freezing" the fond memories she collected. Initially, the protagonist responds by choosing to hold onto certain memories, but as time elapses the protagonist experiences a "Chill"–a cold, numbing moment, followed by a "Stupor"–unconsciousness. Finally, she experiences "letting go." The protagonist concludes that her romantic relationship ended, and so she must let go of her significant other–much like a mourner does after the loss of a loved one. • 13. Ambiguity In Emily Dickinson's After Great Pain With all great poems comes a sense of ambiguity that cannot be described. These statements can always then be interpreted by the reader by their own senses, feelings and thoughts of morality. Emily Dickinson uses this technique to question ones meaning in life and even the morality of order and entropy in after great pain, a formal feeling comes aside from the poetic devices that Emily uses (such as iambic pentameter, personification, contradictions) her use of symbolisms makes the reader question and wonder about why it is that things are done, and the overall point in even doing them. The first stanza begins in a quatrain form, and leads the reader in with the first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes–" This can be interpreted many ways, and as I mentioned before can be dependant upon the readers past experiences. The first part of the sentence "after great pain" prepares you for the result that's yet to come, which is the idea of the "formal feeling", it could be possibly referencing how we act upon the loss of a departed one, attending funerals and saying goodbye in a formal setting, without being able to let loose fully. • 15. Research Paper On Plantar Fasciitis Plantar Fasciitis Treatment: A Multifaceted Problem with New Treatment Possibilities Heel pain is one of the most common physical complaints, affecting about 10 percent of Americans. The pain may be mild or severe, making it difficult to perform the normal activities of daily life. While there can be several different sources of heel pain, the most common is a condition called plantar fasciitis. What is plantar fasciitis? The plantar fascia is a tough, flat band of connective tissue that runs underneath the foot, attaching the heel to the bones of the foot. It helps coordinate the motions of the foot and ankle, and may also work as a shock absorber for the body. Instead of assuming that heel pain originates only in the heel, it makes sense to consider that there could be irritable spots anywhere along the integrated system. These hypersensitive spots in the skeletal muscle, called myofascial trigger points, may create dysfunction anywhere along the leg, but ultimately may be experienced as heel pain. New approaches to therapy Practitioners are beginning to pay attention to these trigger points and to manipulate them to treat plantar fasciitis. The results have been exciting. Case studies using both acupuncture and ischemic compression therapy suggest that treating trigger points along the muscle lines may have profound effects upon plantar fasciitis pain. In some cases, patients have reported immediate pain relief as well as a feeling of lightness. Because plantar fasciitis is a complicated problem with many contributing factors, therapists cannot use a single–focus solution. Psychological Relationship between the Sensory Affective Dimensions of Pain Pain can be described in a number of different ways, but is determined by the perception of pain that they are experiencing. "Pain is something that comes from our experiences and develops due to stimulation and human interaction. It involves concepts such as location, feelings of unpleasantness and having the sensation of pain. Pain becomes possible because of a psychological development that begins at birth" (Challies). Neuropathic pain is a form of chronic pain that affects nerve fibers and the affected fibers send incorrect signals to the area causing pain on and around the area. What is Pain? Pain is created by activation of nociceptors in the skin that respond to different types of stimulation. "Signals from the nociceptors are transmitted to the spinal cord and then from the dorsal root of the spinal cord along pathways that lead to the brain" (Goldstein). Pain travels from the nervous system to the spinal cord and then finally reaches the brain where it processes what has happened and associates that with pain. However, it is difficult to define exactly what pain is because it varies with each person. "While it may seem simple, the process of detecting pain is complicated by the fact that it is not a one–way system. It isn't even a two–way system. Pain is more than just cause and effect: it is affected by everything else that is going on in the nervous system. Your mood, your past experiences and your expectations can all change the way pain is interpreted at any given time" (Jacques). • 18. Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance Healing and Deliverance I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was able to walk again without bearing any pain. I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with pain and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we will never forget. Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that left you numb, perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to heal. I remember watching the movie Diary of a Woman. The story centered on a cruel male lawyer and loyal wife who had marital problems. The marriage experienced great sufferings and left great physical, mental and emotional pain for both the wife and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Besides, one of my patients approached me to have PRNs, the forth patient also requested a shave. On 2B, shaving has to be supervised by staff. All my patients needed me at once. I learned to ask help from other RNs and delegate appropriate tasks to NA in order to get things done on time. Sometimes, we don't have enough help. I had to prioritize my tasks and patients' needs. • 21. Pain And Perception Of Pain Pain is not only defined as a sensation or a physical awareness, but also entails perception. Moreover, pain is an unpleasant and an uncomfortable emotion that is transferred to the brain by sensory neurons. There are various kinds of pain and how one perceives them is varied as well. Certain parts of the brain also play a key role in how one feels pain such as the parietal lobe, which is involved in interpreting pain while the hypothalamus is responsible for the response to pain one has. Although some believe pain is just a physical awareness and is in the body, pain is all in one'smind because the perception of pain and the emotion that controls its intensity differs in individuals and when pain itself is administered to the body, the brain determines the emotions one attaches to each painful experience. The perception of pain and the emotions that control intensity differ in individuals. Since feeling pain is somewhat adaptive, when one experiences it, he or she becomes aware of an injury and tries to remove oneself from the source that caused the injury. For this reason, pain is considered neuropathic or inflammatory in nature. Thus, when pain is the outcome from the damage caused to the neurons of the peripheral and central nervous system, then that pain is neuropathic. However, if the pain signals any kind of tissue damage, then the pain is inflammatory in nature. Due to various types of pain, the interpretation of pain by neurons and the source of that pain ... According to the Allen, Jewers, & McDonald (2014), opioids are the second most prescribed medications in emergency medicine and opioid abuse has increased at an alarming rate. There is little education and training given to emergency personnel on pain management and risk of addiction. Understanding factors such as the pain scale, acute pain, chronic pain, addiction and pain at end of life, are vital and should be thoroughly evaluated before opioids are prescribed. Ensuring appropriate use for pain medication can reduce the risk of harm associated with misuse and abuse. If emergency personnel are not understanding how to treat pain, there will continue to be an increase in the amount of over prescribed medications in the United States. Acute and chronic pain play major factors when it comes to prescribing medication. The importance of understanding when to use opioid medication such as for acute pain, chronic pain, and end of life is an ongoing educational process that still needs to be addressed. Education to the patient also needs to be addressed. Teaching patients about the high addictive properties opioids have on the brain is important. Some people take pain medication just because the doctor prescribed it, and they really don't understand how to use it. • 23. Analysis Of After Great Pain By Emily Dickinson In the poem After great pain, a formal feeling comes, Emily Dickenson uses similes, alliteration, personification, and key words to convey the central theme of a numb almost empty feeling that comes after death or a great pain. A representation of this is made evident in the poems first line "After great pain, a formal feeling comes– "Straight from the beginning Emily Dickenson uses one of the most salient words in the poem; formal. Formal can easily be spotted as a key word because of its rich and rather deep meaning in the poem. For example, its being used to set a sad mood in the writing as well as express a situation in which there's a need to suppress that feeling. Emily Dickenson then decides to place it next to ceremonious which overall expresses a stiffness in the nerves of the body relating back to the central theme of a numbness being felt after a great pain. Furthermore, in the last part of the line she emphasizes the numbness talked about by throwing in a simile which compares the stiff nerves to tombs which also lay stiff. In the third line Emily Dickinson repeats the trend of talking about a numbness by including the key word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literary Summary : Beauty Is Pain During Anglo-Saxon War Beauty Is Pain During Anglo–Saxon period, the warfare and division in the region expanded the exile and pain in these elegies in Exeter Book. The separation and banishment arouse great sadness and grief among the people who have in the exile. In all these three elegies, the Seafarer, the Wanderer, and the Wife's Lament create pain and sorrow through main character to express beauty from these painful experiences. In the Seafarer, a hopeless man is suffering the pain during his duty as a sealer. Burton Raffel presents the extremely loneliness and sadness to be a sealer "my feet were cast in icy bands, bound with frost, with frozen chains, and hardship groaned around my heart". (Raffel) By showing physical pain in terrible cold winter, the author indicate that the man only can endure the weather because there is nothing for him to do to change his situation better. Along with the decreasing temperature and the worsening weather, the frozen bands raise and spread to his whole body and even expand to his heart. Now, he is emotional not only experienced the pain on his body but also inside the deepest of his heart. With great distances away from homeland, he is even more depressive and isolated to think about the comfortable "city dwellers" by comparing his hardship of life. In the end of the poem, his spirit reaches to the climax and thinks that the beauty comes truly from God in the heaven. To clarify how important the God is to the man, Burton Raffel states "to rise to that eternal joy, that life born in the love of God and the hope of Heaven, praise the Holy Grace of him who honored us, eternal, unchanging creator of Earth". (Raffel) The speaker discusses that the worldly things no longer affect the sealer's emotion because the home with presents and praises for the man is in the heaven with God's glory. The harsh condition through his life can overcome by dreaming beautiful and spiritual life different from the sinful soul covering the earth. The elegy like a imagery is pictured when sunshines shine to melt the ice bulk to the soften liquid. I started to use a lotion and I found it helpful with the amount of swelling and pain in my joints. With the success of the product I continued with further research to identify the positive effects that marijuana provides. My sister also uses marijuana to help her pain and it has been successful.
