Personality Characteristics Of Personality Traits
In chapter one of the textbook, it describes how to define personality. There is no single definition of
the word personality. That is because it is used in so many different ways, and because one word
describing someone's personality can be interpreted many different ways. For example, if you
describe yourself as a "happy person", that could mean something different to another person who
also describes themselves as "happy". Your personality is an arrangement of personality traits that
describe a consistent style of emotion or behavior. Personality traits can be recognizable in various
situations of a person's life. A personality trait can be, "shy" or "outgoing" those words are
describing a daily behavior that, on average, is consistent with that individual. Personality is made
up from all different parts genetics, social class, family and peers. The textbook says, some
psychologists view the influence of peers on personality greater than the influence of family.
(Cervone & Pervin, 2013) This is why siblings from the same family have different personalities.
Peer groups socialize individuals; they create a whole new set of rules for behavior. This can be seen
especially in adolescence. Starting high school is hard, because everyone is trying to figure out
where they fit in. When you are that age, you need a sense of belonging to feel complete. The people
you find that you fit in with will likely influence the person you will become. I was one of the

Personality And Theory Of Personality Essay
Personality Examined
Personality is deeply complexing subject that cannot be easily summed up. There is no concrete
right answer, or only one way to evaluate any given subject, as every aspect of personality has more
than one view point or angle. Famous psychologists such as Freud, Adler, Jung, Erickson, Eysenck,
and Skinner all shaped and conducted the research that would come together and be taught to
generations as the foundations of personality and the theory of personality. To better understand the
idea of personality, we are going to examine the six different cornerstones of personality. They
consist of Nature versus Nurture, The Unconscious, You of the Self, Development, Motivation and
Maturation. In this, no one theory is more valid than the other, and no one research has more validity
than the other. In this paper each cornerstone will be examined using scholarly research.
Foundations of Personality
Nature Versus Nurture Before the concept of nature versus nurture can be broken down and
examined, first there must be a proper understanding of both terms. In context of nature versus
nurture, "nature" refers to a person's biological factors, such as the hereditary factors passed down
from the genes of their birth parents. Whereas "nurture" refers to an individual's personal experience
and environment that shapes them into who they are, and gave them a form of identity. Montag et al
(2016), work suggests that while in some cases nurture can be an influence on

The Personality Of Personality Variables
Personality variables have long been hypothesized to be related to expressions of feelings and
behaviors (Eysenck, 1992) and others have shown direct relationships with affect (Costa & McCrae,
1984; Diener & Emmons, 1984). There have been significant relationships reported especially for
the traits of extraversion and neuroticism. Generally, extraversion is positively correlated with
positive affect and neuroticism is positively correlated with negative affect. Results such as these
make sense in that extraverted individuals tend to enjoy human interaction, and be talkative,
assertive, and gregarious, especially in social situations. Introverts on the other hand, tend to be
more withdrawn, and take more pleasure in solitary activities such as reading and writing. It has
been hypothesized that extroverts experience higher levels of subjective well–being, and this may be
due to the fact that they engage in more social interactions providing the opportunity for more life
circumstances, which in turn create the opportunity to experience more positive affectivity (Larsen
& Ketelaar, 1991). The personality trait neuroticism is characterized by anxiety, moodiness, fear,
and frustration. Neurotic individuals also tend to respond more negatively to stressors and to report
ordinary situations as threatening and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult (Ormel, Jeronimus,
Kotov, Riese, Bos, & Hankin, 2013). Because of these tendencies, neurotic individuals tend to put

Trait Oriented Personality And Personality Traits
Trait–Oriented Personality Trait–oriented personality theorists suggest that personality is an internal
trait is born and breed within the individual. Gordon Allport a psychologist categorized the excess of
40,000 words in the dictionary that describe personality traits in 1936. Allport separated these
personality traits into cardinal traits, central traits and secondary traits. These traits each affect the
individual in different ways throughout their life. Cardinal traits dominate throughout a lifetime such
as an individual is boisterous. Central traits Allport theorizes these traits develop overtime as each
individual develops their own moral compass, intelligent, honest and shy all would be considered
central traits according to Allport's theory. Allport's final category is called secondary traits these
traits pertain to limited situations and are predictable to similar situations however can be out of
character for an individual's day to day life, for instance, getting stuck in unpredicted traffic that
causes one to be very late and take an unexplained amount of time to dissipate. This traffic situation
may cause a usually calm individual to act irrational, this behavior is likely to occur in other
unpredictable situation such as long lines and large crowds. Sixteen Personality Factors Building
upon or perhaps I should say paring down Allport's theory Raymond Cattell reduced the more than
four thousand personality traits identified by Allport.

Personality Test : My Personality Type
According to the Jung Personality Test, my personality type would be referred to as INFJ. This
stands for Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Judging. There are many different types of personality
types; however, INFJ is noted to be the rarest of them all. While all of us can have certain traits of
all letters, for example, an individual who is an introvert can also have some extrovert tendencies,
this personality tests gives us an accurate assessment of our most pronounced traits. Each letter
stands for a different aspect of my personality such as how we deal with others, how we gather
information and make decisions, and our attitude towards others. A better understanding of a
person's personality type will help that person analyze his/her own behavior, but also recognize
possible weaknesses associated with that personality. Recognizing personality weaknesses is the key
to becoming a better person, friend, co–worker, and manager. Very good Step 1 – My Personality

Personality Theory : Personality Theories
Personality Theories Personality Theories: Of the many varieties of personality theory on offer, do
you think any offer distinct advantages over the others, and if so, why? The personality of the man
has been under study since the existence of man himself. It has been hard to understand the human
personality due to the fact that one man is different from another. There are different aspects of life
that have made the study of the human personality to be a challenge. Such factors include culture,
economic status, and the environment amongst numerous other factors. These challenges have been
the main reason that scholars over the years have studied human personality and came up with
different theories that tried to define the man and his personality. Some of these theories were
criticized, and others were rendered ineffective or lacked enough rationale for personality. (Bender,
2007) The purpose of this paper is to provide an in depth analysis of the personality theories. In
addition, the paper will look at the different advantages that one personality theory has over others
by looking at their strengths and weaknesses. However, before discussing the personality theories, it
is vital to define the different terms. (Ellis, Abrams and Abrams, 2009) Personality has been a term
that has been hard to define differently depending on the culture or the background of the scholar.
Generally, personality has always been referred to as the public image of an individual. The term

(Robbins, De Cenzo, & Coulter, 2015) According to Furnham, Eracleous, and Chamorro–Premuzic,
introverted individuals are motivated to avoid being punished (2009). I am able to relate to this
because I am always afraid that I will not be able to meet my financial needs including being able to
pay for housing transportation and clothing. One thing that helps me is that on several occasions I
have had jobs that might have been a better fit for an extraverted personality. "Introverted intuitives
learn how to model extroverted behavior in order to succeed." (Nadel, 2008) This has allowed me to
have jobs that might have been better performed by an extravert and to be successful. I think I was
able to do this because I was motivated to do the job so that I would be able to meet my
Physiological and Safety needs. Once I have a solid job, I am comfortable to seek belonging. Borg
and Stranahan state that the intuitive and feeling type is, "on a never–ending search of self. The
worst punishment for an NF is to be invisible–just one in a sea of faces in a large lecture class, for
example." (2002). Being introverted it is hard for me to make myself known and to get myself out
there. I recently moved into a different department that has two managers, and the department I
came from had more than ten. With so many managers it was hard to get any kind of recognition.

What Is Personality?
All the quotes cited above gives a glimpse of importance of personality. PERSONALITY is a term
that we hear most often, when talking about an individual. Almost everyday we describe and assess
the personalities of the people around us. The thought process of a person, the values imbibed in a
person and the environment in which that person has been brought up, all these factors collectively
affects the conduct of a person or in other words, his or her personality. In short, it arises from
within the individual and it is the visible aspect of the individual's character, as it impresses others.
PERSONALITY: CONCEPT AND DEFINITIONS Personality is made up of the characteristic
patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique. The word personality itself
stems from the Latin word 'persona', which refers to a theatrical mask work by performers in order
to either project different roles or disguise their identities. Various analysts have provided various

that you needed ready for the day. A couple of your students have been misbehaving in the
classroom, and talking to the parents or guardian didn't help at all. The way it has been going you
came up with your own plan to help them learn about character traits. Character traits are all the
aspects of a person's behavior and attitudes that make up that person's personality. They are words
used to describe how characters' act during certain situations or what kind of people they are.
Character traits are sometimes described as good or bad, and everyone has them. Good character

Personality Disorders : A Personality Disorder
Personality disorders (PD) are inflexible and maladaptive traits in a person, which makes them
unable to perform adequately in some of the varied roles expected of them by their society (Butcher,
2013). These chronic and persistent behavioral and emotional disturbances are often difficult to
treat. Nonetheless, some of their treatments reflex those of a mentally ill person. A mental illness
refers to mental or behavioral patterns or abnormalities that cause either suffering or impaired ability
to function in ordinary life. Personality disorders are controversial among people, such as mental
health staff, researchers and policy makers (Emergence, 2012). The center of the controversy stems
from the question "is a personality disorder a mental disorder or is it a personality style that makes
an individual atypical?" This paper will give reasons for personality disorders to have a diagnostic
category in the DSM in respects to diagnosis, causation and treatment. Diagnosis of personality
disorders are the hot topic of the controversy. This aspect of a personality disorder is very sensitive
because the base of a diagnosis is due to the perception of a mental health care professional and the
diagnostic criteria from the DSM (Emergence, 2012). Most of the diagnostic criteria suggests that a
person with a personality disorder has excessive, unusual, hypersensitive or an impairment,

Personality, Personality And Personality Assessment Essay
Throughout organizational development, personality traits are a prominent discussion. Learning
what personality is dominant will help me to learn how improve or change myself personally,
spiritually and professionally. When an individual learns about their personality they are able to
increase their positive interaction with the world, and recognize their weakness which in turns helps
to recognize their sinful nature. We all have sinful tendencies, but it is a choice to act on them or not
(Fischer, 2006). Before taking the assessments I already had an idea of my areas of weakness, this
test just, clarified which specific areas to improve. A test I completed previously helped to identify
that I have an INTP personality (Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge, 2002, pg. 15). This new

Personality Theory And Personality Theories
Introduction Personality can be defined in many ways due to the individual and unique aspects of
personality, and there is yet to be a definitive answer for what personality is and how it comes into
being. Generally personality can be defined as the relatively constant, individual and unique
characteristics and traits which present themselves to others in different circumstances. Due to the
many unknown factors of personality psychologists have suggested many ways in which personality
is created, these psychologists pose reasons as to what personality is and how it manifests, these are
known as personality theories (Carter & Grivas, 2014). The main two ideas being that of genetically
influenced personality and personality which is influenced by the environment one lives and grows
up in (Carter & Grivas, 2014). These two theories are known as Nature (Genetics) and Nurture
(Environment). Many modern psychologists pose that both nature and nurture work in conjunction
with each other (Coon, 1995). Twin/Adoption Through the use of twins, researchers can determine
the affect of environment and genetics on personality. This can be done as some twins, known as
monozygotic twins (identical twins) have identical genetics and as such any similarity can be
presumed to be based on genetics while any difference can be based on environment. Through
adoption studies researches can determine if identical twins that were separated at birth are similar
and if they are more similar to their

was exposed to many different patients. Eysenck's work led him to develop a very important and
well known model of personality in the psychology world. His model on personality theory was the
result of culmination of answers to questionnaires on personality styles and statistics that he
identified specific parameters to measure them and use in the theory. He used three categories of
personality traits and these were; extraversion, psychoticism, and neuroticism. In 1940 Eysenck was
doing work at the Audley psychiatric hospital in London while developing his theory. His job at the
hospital was to make an initial assessment of each person admitted to the facility prior to being
diagnosed by a psychiatrist. This position at the hospital led him to track and write many questions
pertaining to behavior and personality. The questions were later applied to more than 700 soldiers
who were being treated for neurotic disorders at Maudsley hospital (Eysenck, 1966). From this
questionnaire and research Eysenck drew conclusions that the soldiers' answers correlated with one
another, suggesting that

Personality Psychology : Myer Bringgs Personality
I have recently became interested in personality psychology which states that we all have
permanente and defined traits. Our personality "type" is also classified and determined and
associated with certain personality traits. Upon exploring Myer Bringgs personality information, I
find it interesting to realize that everyone can be classified into sixteen categories. As you explore
this information, you find that you can 'fit' into a few different 'types', but you fit best into one
specifically. A personality type also tells you a lot about what type of person you are, what careers
you might be interested in, and what you will more than likely in certain future situations (such as
relationships with your spouse and child). Knowing about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even adults and the elderly are continuing to change. I find it intriguing to learn that we are all
different, but there are somethings that are the same in everyone as they age. We become interested
in similar things and we lose interests in many of the same things. I think that looking at the
similarities and differences of peoples and their interests help prove the fact that everyone is
different, but it also helps to establish unity between certain people, groups, and all of humanity.
2. The four main ideas discussed in the textbook and this course is critical thinking, the two–track
mind, exploring human strength (exploring the positives of human nature) and biopsychosocial
(sometimes referred to the biopsychosocial spiritual approach). When someone thinks critically, they
ask "why" and "how" questions. This approach is useful in the attempt to avoid bias and base
conclusions off of false or unproven statements. If I were to tell you that it is the man's sperm that
determines the gender of the child, you should think critically and ask "Why is this the case?",

Personality & Concepts
Abstract
An individual's personality is what makes them unique. How people's personalities are developed is
based on years of research and theories. This paper will discuss some of those theories and dig into
the research of personalities.
Personality & Concepts * * How I define personality * Personality is what makes a person
unique. Personality is also what makes a person similar and different from others. Our personality is
what makes us who we are, the reason we make the decisions we make, and why we act the way we
do. According to the book, the psychology of personality is measured by eight key aspects:

This concept describes my personality good, due to the fact I'm a firm believer that my upbringing
and experiences throughout my life have shaped my personality and given me the ability to adapt.
Growing up less fortunate gave me the ability to appreciate the small things that are often
overlooked by others. While deployed with the Marines, my experiences gave me an outlook on life
that can't be acquired anywhere else. Seeing different people's situations and struggles gave me a
deeper appreciation for what I have and can acquire. * Are your personality features consistent? *
My personality features definitely change with different situations. In most situations my main goal
is to achieve comfort for myself and the people I'm interacting with, and doing so without
compromising who I am. I thrive off change and variety. * * Personality test and their expectations *
I've taken a personality test before and was amazed by the accuracy of the results. I believe the
results were about 80percent correct. A personality test relies on so many factors, like how you were
raised, what you've been exposed to throughout your life, what your familiar with, what you're
scared of, what makes you happy and nervous, the type of day your having, the mood you're in at
that moment, and honesty. Most people don't want to score bad and end up with un–attractive
results, so they will answer dishonestly with hopes of looking like someone they're not.

My Personality Assessment Of Personality Assessments
ENFJ – My Personality Assessment Jacqueline Perez–Hicks Oklahoma Wesleyan University ENFJ
– My Personality Assessment Personality assessments can serve as valuable tools to determine
personality types, and subsequently allow us to understand certain behavior patterns. My own
personality assessment revealed that I have an ENFJ personality type; I am an extrovert; have a
preference of intuition over sensing; have a preference of feeling versus thinking; and have a
preference of judging over perceiving (Jung, n.d.). The results of my assessment were quite
revealing, mostly accurate, with room for interpretation. Real–time circumstances and the
environment have a direct impact on my behavior. According to Revelle and Condon (2015) "People
differ from themselves on a moment to moment basis in that they do not think, feel or act the same
all the time. They change in their feelings, in their thoughts, in their desires and in their actions." In
this summary I will present the parallels I discovered between the results of my assessment and the
personality traits I feel I possess. I will also present my strengths and weaknesses as they relate to
each personality type code, E, N, F, and J, and how my preferences in how I think and behave, can
both positively and negatively impact my environment. Extraversion I would classify myself as
extremely extraverted and feel quite comfortable in all settings, and in either large or small groups. I

Handwriting's Personality Traits
The idea that are handwriting reveals personality traits is largely recognized throughout the world
whether people believe it to be a fact or myth. Writing is usually described as a physical way to
express thoughts. When a person thinks, each thought is inevitably influenced by some emotion or
previous bias that the person has. Since writing at the time it is believed that the emotions and bias
would translate into the handwriting in turn the handwriting could, hypothetically, be used to reveal
personality traits. Yet, handwriting changes all the time a person can change their handwriting many
times during the day. Does this signify the feelings that the person goes through each time the pen is
put to paper, or does it show that this belief is a myth due to the fact that the handwriting changes so
often? The ability to figure a person's personality traits just by analyzing their handwriting, if valid,

Personality As An Understanding Of Personality
As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are defined
by individual's characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual's
personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed
within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and
behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). This essay will be focusing on the
basic dimensions of a personality and also the factors influencing personality change. This then will
be contrasted against a study that develops that personality does not change over time.
Personality not only changes over time and experience but also manipulates as the individual goes
through varying facades within their life. Several personality psychologists believe that personality
is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The 'Big Five' dimensions of
personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to
choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the
test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The 'Big Five' dimensions of personality?, V.Egan,
1988). Extroversion is looking into the individual's excitability, sociability and the high amounts of
emotional expression (Very Well, 2016).

Personality Analysis : Personality Isp
Haerin Kim Mr. Chalk AP TAG English III 30 April 2015 Personality ISP Every interaction,
thought, and action unique to an individual is affected by one essential factor: personality. There are
a myriad of dispositions and no two are completely alike, resulting in distinct characteristics that
shape each person into who they are. In the dictionary, personality is defined as "the sum total of the
physical, mental, emotional, and social characteristics of an individual". Although this is the official
definition of personality, throughout my research process I have found that the broad spectrum of
this subject cannot possibly be contained in such a short phrase. A person's character is who they
are, and ultimately, the foundation upon which their life is made. Unsurprisingly, this topic has
piqued the interest of many people. The science behind how personalities are created, developed,
and changed is an intriguing matter that I could not help but desire to know more about. The most
prevalent notion regarding personality is the ability of personality tests to accurately describe an
individual. Whether it was for fun online, or a curious introspection, people have generally taken the
initiative to get results about their personality. However, there are only a few truly reliable and valid
personality tests that provide insight into a person's disposition. These tests are usually cost money
or are given by a trained psychologist to the participant. The Minnesota Multiphasic

Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality
Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of
personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in–depth
explanation of the subject's personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as a check
and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models. One could
compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers–Briggs since essentially
those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could give rise to a
more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not factual in the first
place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models was the strength of A's
introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one of the results that was very
striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a
17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and slightly appalled. Although she knew that was
never the life of the party, she would have hardly categorized herself as introverted. However, after
reading the characteristics of introversion, she came more to terms with the result and embraced her
newly discovered trait. This helped her to answer more accurately on the Myers–Briggs which
showed that she scored a 92 in introversion. These two comparable scores allowed for an almost
definitive agreement

The Personality Characteristics Of Personality
The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a
person's everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes
causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person's characteristics are unique and come
together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is
subjective to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics
such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual
personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to
discern where these characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the
product of free will has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a
person has a free choice over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out
(Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person can determine their personality through a series of life
choices directly contravenes the idea of a pre–determined personality that is shaped by biology and
life events, called determinism (Skinner, 1957). Determinism is championed by Sigmund Freud in
his psychodynamic theory (Freud, 1912), although it will not be the focus of this essay, despite
Freud's theories constituting as part of the main crux of the latter part. In order to address the

from the past week assignment, my preferred four letters chosen base on the instructions received
from Myers–Briggs type indicator were INFJ, which stands for Introverting, iNtuiting, Feeling and
Judging. For this week assignment I was very surprise after taking the Jungian test to discover that
my personality type fours letter were confirmed to be the same INFJ. Having my conformed INFJ
profile means that in business milieu, my creativity and sense of responsibility come in first.
Although as an INFJ I'm strongly introverted, I nevertheless highly care about my relationship with
other individuals. At work I'm open to communication and always available when it comes to help
colleagues to carry out on tasks or explaining work procedures. However, my personality type also
implies that I can have sudden need for personal time away from others, which is my way to
recharge and regain my energy. In an academic milieu, I'm more focus on setting and reaching my
goals; I get motivated by planning in advance my studying weeks and do a lot of efforts to meet my

Personality Is A Definition Of Personality
Personality is a word that is known to come from the Latin word persona which is defined as the
'mask'. The definition of personality is quite eclectic as there are many opinions on what a
personality is and what it consists of. "...the most adequate conceptualisation of a person's behaviour
in all its detail" (McClelland, 1951, p.69) is a historical definition of personality. More narrowly,
personality is described as the amalgamation of qualities or characteristics and the behavioural
attitudes that form an individual's distinctive character. There has been much debate as to whether
one's personality can change throughout their lifetime or if it's 'set in plaster' after a specific age.
Longitudinal studies were undertaken on the aspects of the five–factor model in an attempt to come
to a conclusion about whether or not one's personality can change. Changes in personality may
occur due to certain life experiences which can leave indents in one's personality, forcing it to
change negatively or positively for a temporary or permanent amount of time in order to adapt to the
environment. John Bowlby suggests the attachment theory is necessary in early life in order to shape
an individual's personality. Early life experiences as well as an individual's personality are primarily
influenced by one's parents until they're mature enough to form their own identity. There are also
opposing views on personality as numerous amounts of people believe it doesn't change after a
certain age.

Personality Theory Of Personality Development
Many personality theorists offered different explanations for human behaviors as well as established
specific stages of personality development. However, person centered theory does not have a theory
of personality structure, rather believes that it is essential to follow certain principles in order to
develop the self–concept. Rogers's theory of personality is based on the notion that all individuals
have the innate ability to reach actualizing tendency and establish a self–concept, which is
congruent with his whole experience (Warner, 2009). Rogers defined the actualizing tendency as the
inborn motivating force of the self, which move towards fulfilling and enhancing ones true potential.
The actualizing tendency applies to all living organism, however, in human this tendency is referred
as self–actualization. According to Rogers (1980) actualizing tendency can be suppressed, though, it
can never be destroyed, without destroying the organism itself. This phenomenon is the motivating
force in the theory, which includes all motivations such as need, drive, or anxiety reduction. It also
encompasses, growth motivations for instance, the desire to be more creative and seeking of
pleasurable tensions. It is Rogers' belief that all organisms including, humans strive to become
his/her full potential even under difficult circumstances. However, when individuals are lacking
empathy and unconditional positive regard in their society and in interpersonal relationship, then

charisma, naturally attracting and inspiring people. Surprisingly, ENFJ forms only around two
percent of the population. Some scholars describe this two percent simply as Protagonists. Scholars

ENFJs have an immense heart for others, almost to a fault. ENFJ's easily reflect on and over–
analyze their own feelings, so if they get too caught up in another person's conflict, they
immediately blame the distress on themselves and try to fix everything. True to my personality type,
I genuinely care about motivating people to live their best lives full of happiness. So, my biggest
strength is my selflessness. This is true to an ENFJ personality type that constantly wants to bring
people together and make a better world. The most relatable fact I found about ENFJ's is the
weakness of ENFJ's being too sensitive. I take everything said to me to heart and am always worried
if I have met people's expectations of me. Similarly, ENFJs take too much to heart and constantly
worry if they are doing enough. Because of this anxiety, ENFJs also have a fluctuating self–esteem
and an indecisive nature. My self–esteem is almost entirely based on how other people are treating
me. And every decision is a massive ordeal because I can't stop thinking about everyone involved
and what the want to happen. I want everyone to get his or her way; I hate the feeling of
dissatisfying someone. Also true to me, I avoid conflict like the plague. I always want to serve the
role of peacekeeper in a conflict. I also love to volunteer and give back, also true to ENFJ. Most

also assist with self–understanding and self– awareness. Taking a Jungian 16– Type Personality test
online, a 64 question test, I was able to determine my personality type to be ENTJ, and my

and how my personality trait interacts in social, relationship and career situations. The website also
discusses the strengths and weaknesses of my ENTJ personality, as well as how my personality

times personality interactions are only viewed in social settings, with work personality interactions

today. It started by introducing a middle aged lady who was struggling with the loss of her unborn

Subsequently, this essay provided commentary on four separate articles, which discussed the uses of
personality testing within an organizational setting and the United States military. In addition, this
essay discussed legislation concerning psychological tests throughout different states in the United

Personality Traits Of An Individual Personality Essay
Individual Personalities Personality is defined as, "the sum total of ways in which an individual
reacts and interacts with others" and personality traits are defined as, "enduring characteristics that
describe an individual's behavior."(Robbins and Judge, 2009) Describing an individual's behavior
can be tricky and trying to change an individual's personality is near impossible. Business managers
have the task of implementing a leadership style that thrives in their perspective business. However,
in order for their particular style of leadership to be a success they need to understand the role
personalities play in business organizations. Team members personalities may dictate what style a
leader ultimately decides to implement, just as, employers will look to hire individuals with
personalities similar to that of the company. Hiring managers need to be in tune with personalities
and how they may help benefit their bottom line. This process is accomplished by the use of
personality tests, which have been around since the early 1900's.

One of the most common personality tests is the Jung Typology Test. Jung is known as one of the
pioneers in the field of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. His research gave light to the idea of

Overachievers Personality
In today's society the world's population is widely diverse in the types of personalities that can be
found out in public. Walking down the streets faces pass by, and it's easy for one to guess what kind
of person they are just by looking at their looks. However, someone can have a completely different
personality than you think. It may be important to know what types of personalities one person may
have so you can get to know what type of people you will be dealing with. You may have to deal
with people who tend to be overachievers, arrogant, bubbly, and laid–back, but it is better to know
how to identify each personality type. Some people have a personality trait of being an overachiever.
There are many different types of overachievers, some are easy to handle and others may be a
challenge. Someone may feel the need to do better than everyone else and someone else may be
trying to achieve the most they possibly can just to please themselves. The types of overachievers
that are just trying to be better than everyone else may not have as many friends, because most
people don't like to feel like they always have to compete. They might try to strike up a conversation
and ask you questions about yourself, so they have a chance to talk about themselves. According to
Arkin, people who feel the need to overachieve tend to secretly feel like they aren't good enough,
because they are more focused on not failing rather than achieving a good outcome (Arkin). The

Personality Traits Of Personality Tests
My whole life I have been intrigued by personality tests. I love seeing the results I get, even if the
test is about what type of pizza I am. However, the more tests I took, the easier it was to find the
patterns within the tests. I realized that most of the answers that are supposedly "tailored to me" are
just general personality traits that could apply to the majority of the population. The Strengths Quest
quiz was not one of these tests. Although I found a few similar questions, the quiz is so detailed that
it is easy to tell how unique each person's results will be. This quiz showed me parts of my
personality that I had never realized existed. When I first saw my results, I was quite shocked. My
top five traits were Maximizer, Individualization, Empathy, Analytical, and Belief. Maximizer and
Empathy did not seem like traits I had, but after reading the descriptions I see that they are fitting.
Maximizer is the strength of pursuing excellence, which is very true for me. I like to do things I am
good at, and avoid doing the activities where I do not excel. I cling to others that enjoy what I do,
whether that be school work, painting, baking, or simply listening. However, I tend to dwell on the
fact that I cannot do everything well. I see others that can do certain things I cannot, and it makes
me feel inadequate. But this quiz has shown me my fault, and now I can take those doubtful
thoughts and make them about how each person has their own unique strengths. Empathy,

Personality Traits & Characteristics

  • 1. Personality Characteristics Of Personality Traits In chapter one of the textbook, it describes how to define personality. There is no single definition of the word personality. That is because it is used in so many different ways, and because one word describing someone's personality can be interpreted many different ways. For example, if you describe yourself as a "happy person", that could mean something different to another person who also describes themselves as "happy". Your personality is an arrangement of personality traits that describe a consistent style of emotion or behavior. Personality traits can be recognizable in various situations of a person's life. A personality trait can be, "shy" or "outgoing" those words are describing a daily behavior that, on average, is consistent with that individual. Personality is made up from all different parts genetics, social class, family and peers. The textbook says, some psychologists view the influence of peers on personality greater than the influence of family. (Cervone & Pervin, 2013) This is why siblings from the same family have different personalities. Peer groups socialize individuals; they create a whole new set of rules for behavior. This can be seen especially in adolescence. Starting high school is hard, because everyone is trying to figure out where they fit in. When you are that age, you need a sense of belonging to feel complete. The people you find that you fit in with will likely influence the person you will become. I was one of the youngest in my ... • 3. Personality And Theory Of Personality Essay Personality Examined Personality is deeply complexing subject that cannot be easily summed up. There is no concrete right answer, or only one way to evaluate any given subject, as every aspect of personality has more than one view point or angle. Famous psychologists such as Freud, Adler, Jung, Erickson, Eysenck, and Skinner all shaped and conducted the research that would come together and be taught to generations as the foundations of personality and the theory of personality. To better understand the idea of personality, we are going to examine the six different cornerstones of personality. They consist of Nature versus Nurture, The Unconscious, You of the Self, Development, Motivation and Maturation. In this, no one theory is more valid than the other, and no one research has more validity than the other. In this paper each cornerstone will be examined using scholarly research. Foundations of Personality Nature Versus Nurture Before the concept of nature versus nurture can be broken down and examined, first there must be a proper understanding of both terms. In context of nature versus nurture, "nature" refers to a person's biological factors, such as the hereditary factors passed down from the genes of their birth parents. Whereas "nurture" refers to an individual's personal experience and environment that shapes them into who they are, and gave them a form of identity. Montag et al (2016), work suggests that while in some cases nurture can be an influence on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Personality Of Personality Variables Personality variables have long been hypothesized to be related to expressions of feelings and behaviors (Eysenck, 1992) and others have shown direct relationships with affect (Costa & McCrae, 1984; Diener & Emmons, 1984). There have been significant relationships reported especially for the traits of extraversion and neuroticism. Generally, extraversion is positively correlated with positive affect and neuroticism is positively correlated with negative affect. Results such as these make sense in that extraverted individuals tend to enjoy human interaction, and be talkative, assertive, and gregarious, especially in social situations. Introverts on the other hand, tend to be more withdrawn, and take more pleasure in solitary activities such as reading and writing. It has been hypothesized that extroverts experience higher levels of subjective well–being, and this may be due to the fact that they engage in more social interactions providing the opportunity for more life circumstances, which in turn create the opportunity to experience more positive affectivity (Larsen & Ketelaar, 1991). The personality trait neuroticism is characterized by anxiety, moodiness, fear, and frustration. Neurotic individuals also tend to respond more negatively to stressors and to report ordinary situations as threatening and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult (Ormel, Jeronimus, Kotov, Riese, Bos, & Hankin, 2013). Because of these tendencies, neurotic individuals tend to put themselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Trait Oriented Personality And Personality Traits Trait–Oriented Personality Trait–oriented personality theorists suggest that personality is an internal trait is born and breed within the individual. Gordon Allport a psychologist categorized the excess of 40,000 words in the dictionary that describe personality traits in 1936. Allport separated these personality traits into cardinal traits, central traits and secondary traits. These traits each affect the individual in different ways throughout their life. Cardinal traits dominate throughout a lifetime such as an individual is boisterous. Central traits Allport theorizes these traits develop overtime as each individual develops their own moral compass, intelligent, honest and shy all would be considered central traits according to Allport's theory. Allport's final category is called secondary traits these traits pertain to limited situations and are predictable to similar situations however can be out of character for an individual's day to day life, for instance, getting stuck in unpredicted traffic that causes one to be very late and take an unexplained amount of time to dissipate. This traffic situation may cause a usually calm individual to act irrational, this behavior is likely to occur in other unpredictable situation such as long lines and large crowds. Sixteen Personality Factors Building upon or perhaps I should say paring down Allport's theory Raymond Cattell reduced the more than four thousand personality traits identified by Allport. ... There are many different types of personality types; however, INFJ is noted to be the rarest of them all. While all of us can have certain traits of all letters, for example, an individual who is an introvert can also have some extrovert tendencies, this personality tests gives us an accurate assessment of our most pronounced traits. Each letter stands for a different aspect of my personality such as how we deal with others, how we gather information and make decisions, and our attitude towards others. A better understanding of a person's personality type will help that person analyze his/her own behavior, but also recognize possible weaknesses associated with that personality. Recognizing personality weaknesses is the key to becoming a better person, friend, co–worker, and manager. • 13. Personality Theory : Personality Theories Personality Theories Personality Theories: Of the many varieties of personality theory on offer, do you think any offer distinct advantages over the others, and if so, why? The personality of the man has been under study since the existence of man himself. It has been hard to understand the human personality due to the fact that one man is different from another. There are different aspects of life that have made the study of the human personality to be a challenge. Such factors include culture, economic status, and the environment amongst numerous other factors. These challenges have been the main reason that scholars over the years have studied human personality and came up with different theories that tried to define the man and his personality. Some of these theories were criticized, and others were rendered ineffective or lacked enough rationale for personality. (Bender, 2007) The purpose of this paper is to provide an in depth analysis of the personality theories. In addition, the paper will look at the different advantages that one personality theory has over others by looking at their strengths and weaknesses. However, before discussing the personality theories, it is vital to define the different terms. (Ellis, Abrams and Abrams, 2009) Personality has been a term that has been hard to define differently depending on the culture or the background of the scholar. Generally, personality has always been referred to as the public image of an individual. The term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This stands for introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging. Keirsey identifies INFJ's as counselors. We care deeply about others and their feelings. (Robbins, De Cenzo, & Coulter, 2015) According to Furnham, Eracleous, and Chamorro–Premuzic, introverted individuals are motivated to avoid being punished (2009). I am able to relate to this because I am always afraid that I will not be able to meet my financial needs including being able to pay for housing transportation and clothing. One thing that helps me is that on several occasions I have had jobs that might have been a better fit for an extraverted personality. "Introverted intuitives learn how to model extroverted behavior in order to succeed." (Nadel, 2008) This has allowed me to have jobs that might have been better performed by an extravert and to be successful. I think I was able to do this because I was motivated to do the job so that I would be able to meet my Physiological and Safety needs. Once I have a solid job, I am comfortable to seek belonging. Borg and Stranahan state that the intuitive and feeling type is, "on a never–ending search of self. The worst punishment for an NF is to be invisible–just one in a sea of faces in a large lecture class, for example." (2002). Being introverted it is hard for me to make myself known and to get myself out there. I recently moved into a different department that has two managers, and the department I came from had more than ten. With so many managers it was hard to get any kind of recognition. • 21. What Is Personality? All the quotes cited above gives a glimpse of importance of personality. PERSONALITY is a term that we hear most often, when talking about an individual. Almost everyday we describe and assess the personalities of the people around us. The thought process of a person, the values imbibed in a person and the environment in which that person has been brought up, all these factors collectively affects the conduct of a person or in other words, his or her personality. In short, it arises from within the individual and it is the visible aspect of the individual's character, as it impresses others. PERSONALITY: CONCEPT AND DEFINITIONS Personality is made up of the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that make a person unique. On Tuesday morning, you get to work early so you could enjoy a little time to yourself before the bell rings and your students start to rush in the classroom. You have your coffee and everything else that you needed ready for the day. A couple of your students have been misbehaving in the classroom, and talking to the parents or guardian didn't help at all. The way it has been going you came up with your own plan to help them learn about character traits. Character traits are all the aspects of a person's behavior and attitudes that make up that person's personality. They are words used to describe how characters' act during certain situations or what kind of people they are. Character traits are sometimes described as good or bad, and everyone has them. Good character traits are what every parent wants for their kids. We all know and believe that this can set them up for good, healthy, successful and happy lives. To begin with, the first character trait is honesty. Honesty and truthfulness to self and to others makes you a reliable individual. It is an important character trait to instill in children. All students will benefit from learning about honesty, earning trust and trusting in others. It really requires a lot of courage, respect, responsibility, and good judgment from others. Personality Disorders : A Personality Disorder Personality disorders (PD) are inflexible and maladaptive traits in a person, which makes them unable to perform adequately in some of the varied roles expected of them by their society (Butcher, 2013). These chronic and persistent behavioral and emotional disturbances are often difficult to treat. Nonetheless, some of their treatments reflex those of a mentally ill person. A mental illness refers to mental or behavioral patterns or abnormalities that cause either suffering or impaired ability to function in ordinary life. Personality disorders are controversial among people, such as mental health staff, researchers and policy makers (Emergence, 2012). The center of the controversy stems from the question "is a personality disorder a mental disorder or is it a personality style that makes an individual atypical?" This paper will give reasons for personality disorders to have a diagnostic category in the DSM in respects to diagnosis, causation and treatment. Diagnosis of personality disorders are the hot topic of the controversy. This aspect of a personality disorder is very sensitive because the base of a diagnosis is due to the perception of a mental health care professional and the diagnostic criteria from the DSM (Emergence, 2012). • 27. Personality, Personality And Personality Assessment Essay Throughout organizational development, personality traits are a prominent discussion. Learning what personality is dominant will help me to learn how improve or change myself personally, spiritually and professionally. When an individual learns about their personality they are able to increase their positive interaction with the world, and recognize their weakness which in turns helps to recognize their sinful nature. We all have sinful tendencies, but it is a choice to act on them or not (Fischer, 2006). Before taking the assessments I already had an idea of my areas of weakness, this test just, clarified which specific areas to improve. A test I completed previously helped to identify that I have an INTP personality (Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge, 2002, pg. 15). This new assessment test helps to specify areas of change both personally and professionally. Goodstein and Lanyon state: "Personality assessment serves an important role with reference to the workplace, they provide a way of giving managers a deeper understanding of the complexities of human behavior and for better describing themselves and others." • 29. Personality Theory And Personality Theories Introduction Personality can be defined in many ways due to the individual and unique aspects of personality, and there is yet to be a definitive answer for what personality is and how it comes into being. Generally personality can be defined as the relatively constant, individual and unique characteristics and traits which present themselves to others in different circumstances. Due to the many unknown factors of personality psychologists have suggested many ways in which personality is created, these psychologists pose reasons as to what personality is and how it manifests, these are known as personality theories (Carter & Grivas, 2014). The main two ideas being that of genetically influenced personality and personality which is influenced by the environment one lives and grows up in (Carter & Grivas, 2014). These two theories are known as Nature (Genetics) and Nurture (Environment). Many modern psychologists pose that both nature and nurture work in conjunction with each other (Coon, 1995). Twin/Adoption Through the use of twins, researchers can determine the affect of environment and genetics on personality. This can be done as some twins, known as monozygotic twins (identical twins) have identical genetics and as such any similarity can be presumed to be based on genetics while any difference can be based on environment. Through adoption studies researches can determine if identical twins that were separated at birth are similar and if they are more similar to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personality Analysis : Personality And Personality Personality Analysis Michelle Jose Argosy University June 15, 2015 Personality Analysis Personality is the dynamic organization of characteristics that blend or make a person unique and though in his or her appearance or reasoning. (Weinberg & Gould, 1999). According to Eysenck 1966, when he was working in a hospital based in London he was exposed to many different patients. Eysenck's work led him to develop a very important and well known model of personality in the psychology world. His model on personality theory was the result of culmination of answers to questionnaires on personality styles and statistics that he identified specific parameters to measure them and use in the theory. He used three categories of personality traits and these were; extraversion, psychoticism, and neuroticism. In 1940 Eysenck was doing work at the Audley psychiatric hospital in London while developing his theory. His job at the hospital was to make an initial assessment of each person admitted to the facility prior to being diagnosed by a psychiatrist. This position at the hospital led him to track and write many questions pertaining to behavior and personality. The questions were later applied to more than 700 soldiers who were being treated for neurotic disorders at Maudsley hospital (Eysenck, 1966). From this questionnaire and research Eysenck drew conclusions that the soldiers' answers correlated with one another, suggesting that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The four main ideas discussed in the textbook and this course is critical thinking, the two–track mind, exploring human strength (exploring the positives of human nature) and biopsychosocial (sometimes referred to the biopsychosocial spiritual approach). When someone thinks critically, they ask "why" and "how" questions. This approach is useful in the attempt to avoid bias and base conclusions off of false or unproven statements. If I were to tell you that it is the man's sperm that determines the gender of the child, you should think critically and ask "Why is this the case?", "What evidence do you have to support this claim?" and "Has this statement been proven?" Thinking critically enhances your knowledge and verifies that the information you have been given is correct. Personality As An Understanding Of Personality As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are defined by individual's characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual's personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). Several personality psychologists believe that personality is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The 'Big Five' dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The 'Big Five' dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). Personality Analysis : Personality Isp Haerin Kim Mr. Chalk AP TAG English III 30 April 2015 Personality ISP Every interaction, thought, and action unique to an individual is affected by one essential factor: personality. There are a myriad of dispositions and no two are completely alike, resulting in distinct characteristics that shape each person into who they are. In the dictionary, personality is defined as "the sum total of the physical, mental, emotional, and social characteristics of an individual". Although this is the official definition of personality, throughout my research process I have found that the broad spectrum of this subject cannot possibly be contained in such a short phrase. A person's character is who they are, and ultimately, the foundation upon which their life is made. Unsurprisingly, this topic has piqued the interest of many people. The science behind how personalities are created, developed, and changed is an intriguing matter that I could not help but desire to know more about. The most prevalent notion regarding personality is the ability of personality tests to accurately describe an individual. Whether it was for fun online, or a curious introspection, people have generally taken the initiative to get results about their personality. However, there are only a few truly reliable and valid personality tests that provide insight into a person's disposition. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models was the strength of A's introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a 17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and slightly appalled. Although she knew that was never the life of the party, she would have hardly categorized herself as introverted. However, after reading the characteristics of introversion, she came more to terms with the result and embraced her newly discovered trait. • 59. The Personality Characteristics Of Personality The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a person's everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person's characteristics are unique and come together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea of a pre–determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner, 1957). • 63. Personality Is A Definition Of Personality Personality is a word that is known to come from the Latin word persona which is defined as the 'mask'. The definition of personality is quite eclectic as there are many opinions on what a personality is and what it consists of. "...the most adequate conceptualisation of a person's behaviour in all its detail" (McClelland, 1951, p.69) is a historical definition of personality. More narrowly, personality is described as the amalgamation of qualities or characteristics and the behavioural attitudes that form an individual's distinctive character. There has been much debate as to whether one's personality can change throughout their lifetime or if it's 'set in plaster' after a specific age. Longitudinal studies were undertaken on the aspects of the five–factor model in an attempt to come to a conclusion about whether or not one's personality can change. Changes in personality may occur due to certain life experiences which can leave indents in one's personality, forcing it to change negatively or positively for a temporary or permanent amount of time in order to adapt to the environment. John Bowlby suggests the attachment theory is necessary in early life in order to shape an individual's personality. Early life experiences as well as an individual's personality are primarily influenced by one's parents until they're mature enough to form their own identity. There are also opposing views on personality as numerous amounts of people believe it doesn't change after a certain age. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rogers defined the actualizing tendency as the inborn motivating force of the self, which move towards fulfilling and enhancing ones true potential. The actualizing tendency applies to all living organism, however, in human this tendency is referred as self–actualization. It also encompasses, growth motivations for instance, the desire to be more creative and seeking of pleasurable tensions. • 75. Overachievers Personality In today's society the world's population is widely diverse in the types of personalities that can be found out in public. Walking down the streets faces pass by, and it's easy for one to guess what kind of person they are just by looking at their looks. However, someone can have a completely different personality than you think. It may be important to know what types of personalities one person may have so you can get to know what type of people you will be dealing with. • 77. Personality Traits Of Personality Tests My whole life I have been intrigued by personality tests. I love seeing the results I get, even if the test is about what type of pizza I am. However, the more tests I took, the easier it was to find the patterns within the tests. I realized that most of the answers that are supposedly "tailored to me" are just general personality traits that could apply to the majority of the population. The Strengths Quest quiz was not one of these tests. Although I found a few similar questions, the quiz is so detailed that it is easy to tell how unique each person's results will be. This quiz showed me parts of my personality that I had never realized existed. When I first saw my results, I was quite shocked. My top five traits were Maximizer, Individualization, Empathy, Analytical, and Belief. Maximizer and Empathy did not seem like traits I had, but after reading the descriptions I see that they are fitting. Maximizer is the strength of pursuing excellence, which is very true for me. I like to do things I am good at, and avoid doing the activities where I do not excel. I cling to others that enjoy what I do, whether that be school work, painting, baking, or simply listening. However, I tend to dwell on the fact that I cannot do everything well. I see others that can do certain things I cannot, and it makes me feel inadequate. But this quiz has shown me my fault, and now I can take those doubtful thoughts and make them about how each person has their own unique strengths. Empathy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
