Building An Integrated Teamwork, Is Irreplaceable And...
Globalization has become a significant issue that people are more willing to consider and discuss,
due to the reason that people live in the diverse society nowadays. Being an organizational leader
that they would be required to accept the differences from others, who come from different
countries, to investigate how to build an integrated teamwork, which is irreplaceable and
indispensable. X–Team could be a helpful book providing the leaders some specific ideas to
implement the organizational program that they need more advice on how to play a global
leadership role. There are three principles raised by Ancona and Bresman to establish a collaborative
teamwork of the company that they elaborated building the trust with each other in the teamwork
could be the first step for leading harmoniously. In order to be a successful part of the global team,
the trust between team members could be the catalyzer to promote the team efficiency. Team
members may have comparative ideas on the same situation, but they would not refuse to discuss
with others when the trust has been built and would realize the others' opinions are reasonable and
discussible. The trust could be the basic and necessary factor for the leader leading a global
teamwork, which is composed of people coming from different countries with diverse culture.
The first principle is external activity, which means it is needed to observe the surroundings that
people should be aware of the changes not only in the internal

My Leadership And The Army 's Leadership
I spent a number of years at 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), based in Stuttgart,
Germany. I grew up in the unit, learning as I went and increasing my responsibilities as I gained
rank. Sometimes I had a Soldier or two for whom I was responsible. I mentored them, guided their
activities, and pushed them to become better leaders. Then there were other periods where I wasn't
necessarily responsible for troops. My leadership development took the form of mission
management and initiative, unit training, or independent project development. I also began to notice
the importance of organizational leadership and perspective. By the time I left the unit as a Staff
Sergeant, having also undergone significant personal growth and maturing, I came to see leadership
not so much as a set of tools to get things done, but an attitude or a mindset that must maintain.
In my current assignment, it is my responsibility to project and promote the Army's leadership
values every day. This role has significantly informed my more polished leadership philosophy in
the last year. What I have found is that when I approach my work with the right mindset and regard
myself as a leader in every moment, the actual tasks of any mission are simply accomplished at, or
usually above, the standard. It is the most important elements of that mindset that I seek to discuss
here: professionalism, trust, and service.
To be a professional is to first recognize your work as a profession. This means

Chad 's Theory Of The Decision Making Process Essay
Introduction
Chad started with Amazon in August 2012 as an IT Engineer I. His technical acuity and leadership
qualities had an immediate impact while he consistently worked above his level. Chad's technical
proficiencies had an immediate effect as he was instrumental in multiple projects. These projects
include establishing a new global standard for cable procurement across FCIT, MyTime Kronos
time clock, and the 1D to 2D barcode project. He was subsequently promoted to an Engineer II in
October 2013 and continued his track record of providing high–quality engineer services
Chad continued to develop technically as his scope of responsibilities and the scale of his projects
increased. He then focused on engagement, delegation, communication, and facilitated project
completion by becoming an integral part of the decision–making process. Chad's success in these
endeavors earned the trust of his leadership as he became a trusted resource while establishing
himself as a leader amongst his peers.
Leadership and Communication
Chad's leadership was on display when he showed composure and high judgment after a water main
broke at BNA3 flooding 1/3 of the East Pickmod. The leak cause significant damage as water
poured into an IDF through low voltage cable conduit. Chad immediately took ownership and
worked with local leadership and facilities to put forth an action plan to restore IT services in the
affected area. He then delegated responsibilities to onsite engineers

Leadership Philosophy : A Leader 's Employees, And Growth...
A clear leadership philosophy is important to the success of a leader, development of the leader's
employees, and growth of the organization. As a future leader, I will explore my own leadership
philosophy built on the principles of integrity, openness, and humility. I will discuss the importance
of creating an environment that fosters mutual respect, recognizes each individual's potential, and
inspires success. Using my own philosophy as a guide, I will discuss and analyze the approach a
commander takes in managing her most challenging leadership issue and will compare and contrast
her actions with my own leadership philosophy. My leadership philosophy is as follows: Leadership
is forming relationships with people and guiding them to reach their full potential. My leadership
philosophy developed over my professional career from research completed in leadership classes
and personal experiences with leaders. The foundation of my leadership philosophy is formed on the
principals of integrity, openness, and humility. Creating the right environment enables individuals to
tap into their own potential and move the organization to accomplishing the mission. Openness and
honesty eliminate communication barriers and allow for creative progress. Lack of humility can
create an unnecessary obstacle. Leaders who view themselves as superior to their employees often
inhibit productivity and ingenuity. The integrity of leaders is reflected in their decisions and in their

The Global Leader in E-Commerce

commerce. Amazon offers a wide variety of products, ranging from hardcover books to jewelry to
electronics, as conveniently as possible to its customers (About Amazon, 2009). Although Amazon
has begun to revolutionize retailing, the company's competitive advantage and evolution has been
put into question. The competitive advantage and evolution of Amazon can be analyzed by

Based on the recent news in 2009 regarding Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, web platforms
competition is a must. It appears it would be unwise not to compete in such a growing industry
where everyday some new form of technology is created. Every company is trying to top the other
by incorporating the newest technology, which others may have created, into their next new
application or product. As Amazon struggles to maintain market share and increase profitability for
the company in general, one has to wonder whether they are spreading themselves to thin. The key
question is can Amazon be everything to everybody. This certainly seems to be the direction
Amazon is pursuing. Amazon's IT infrastructure is not running at full capacity and as a result of this,
has led to innovative ideas to generate more revenue by allowing customers to pay for and utilize
Amazon's infrastructure on a pay as you go concept. CEO Jeff Bezos (2007) stated, "What we 're

The Transformational Journey Of Leadership
"Leadership is unlocking people's potential to become better." –Bill Bradley
The transformational journey of leadership is marked by personal growth and development. Once
you become a leader, success in the area of leadership is characterized by your ability to assist
others in their own personal growth and development.
As a child, nascent experiences shaped my values around selflessness and the intrinsic ability to
empower myself and others to reach optimal potential. My greatest desire has always been to
enhance the wellbeing of those that find it difficult to live their lives to their fullest potential.
Throughout my childhood, I was extremely inquisitive; I was curious about why people behaved in
certain ways. I have always desired to better understand the behaviors of individuals and groups. As
a result of the aforementioned interests and experiences, I pursued an undergraduate degree as a
psychology major at Xavier University of Louisiana.
I found myself specifically interested in classes that focused on the diagnosis and treatment of
disorders, such as abnormal psychology, human sexuality and psychotherapies.
Such classes encouraged my specific focus on issues related to mental health and emotional
instability. I became encouraged to pursue my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health and
School Counseling. More specifically, my educational trajectory coursework has sought to convey
the effects of therapy and other psychological concepts. This has shaped my desire to

Personal Review: Looking At The Dilbert
Thank you, I will have a tall claussan.
Looking at the Dilbert comic, I think most of us can relate to it from some sort of work experience.
For me, it reflects on the various bosses, coaches or instructors that have preached one thing, and
not followed by example. The second half of the cartoon represents to me why a leader or manger
might avoid the conversation of asking subordinates what could be improved on, knowing full well
that it will have a cascade affect that they are not prepared to deal with.
Aristotle's quote on leadership tells me that everyone has to learn how to properly follow, as well as
learn to know who to follow, in order to one day become a great leader. It could be easy to try and

The fact that Coca–Cola is available in every country, including Cuba and North Korea, and sells
1.9 billion servings of Coca–Cola Company every day, is a proof that the Coca–Cola is the best–
known brand in the world.
Situational analysis
Strengths: As we all know, some of the major strengths of the company are its unique brand identity,
largest market share and customer loyalty.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses include luck of health beverages in its multi–billion dollar food and
beverage brands, and water management. Coca–Cola has been criticized for using too much water in
countries where water is scarce and water shortages are widespread.
Opportunities: As mentioned above absence in health beverages is a major weakness for the
company, however creating diversification in the health and food business will improve the
offerings of Coca–Cola to their customers. That is why introduction of "Maple Cola" is great
opportunity to achieve this strategic goal such increase healthy beverages in company's. Another
opportunity includes packaged drinking water (Marketing91.com).
Threats: Coca–Cola's main competitor is PepsiCo Inc. Indirect competitors are Coffee chains like
Starbucks, Café coffee day, Costa coffee, which offer a healthy competition to Coca–Cola's
carbonated drinks.
The main favorable demographic trend for the company that currently is expanding is the middle–
class target market and teenagers worldwide (Wong, 2014).

Comparing The Tolkien 's ' The Hobbit '
The contrast between different types of leadership appears in the chapter Flies and Spiders in J.R.R
Tolkien's The Hobbit. The chapter starts off with the group no longer having Gandalf lead them
through the perils that lie in the Mirkwood. Thorin helps lead the group past a deadly river that
cannot be touched and helps them until he is captured by elves. Bilbo battle spiders and saves the
dwarves on multiple occasions in Thorin's absence. In this chapter you see a new contrast in Throrin
and Company. No longer having Gandalf Thorin picked up the mantle of leadership and lead by
command. Bilbo then assumed the role of leadership in Thorins absence and lead by putting others
first, putting himself on the line. As the story progresses you have these two types of leadership
contrasting throughout the story. Ultimately in the end Bilbo's was of leadership proved to be better.
When entering the Mirkwood Gandalf left the group leaving Thorin to lead the group through the
woods. Thorin leads the group by command through Mirkwood usually delegating who should do
what in the group. As the group is trying to find their way across the river on pages 132–133 Thorin
takes command of the situation. Once the group had a solid plan Thorin delegates the order of travel
"Who shall cross First said Bilbo" "I shall" said Thorin, "and you will come with me and Fili and
Balin. That's as many as the boat will hold at a time." (133) Thorin goes on naming the order of who

Coca–Cola Inc. is a global leader in the beverage industry. The history of the company began in
1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a

of its original ingredients: kola nuts, a source of caffeine, and coca leaves. Later on Dr. John S.
Pemberton took his created flavored syrup to his neighborhood pharmacy and mixed it with
carbonated water. Those who sampled it deemed the drink "excellent". Dr. Pemberton's partner and
bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage "Coca Cola" as well as
designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today (Worldofcoca–cola.com). Although
Coca–Cola Inc.'s headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia, the company's operational reach

Leadership Is A Personal Journey Essay
The study of leadership teaches leaders about what motivates people to work. Thus, it's understood
that all motivated employees, and team players will be more productive. Therefore, the study of
various theories and models of motivation, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs model, and
Herzberg's two factor theory are carefully studied to improve leader's ability to motivate their
employees. Also, studying leadership enables leaders to understand people and the work
environment better. However, most importantly, the study of leadership is a personal journey.
Helping a person to develop their leadership potentials, which enables one to develop their
leadership potentials. Therefore, understanding leadership is really learning about understanding
yourself. When I decided to take this leadership class. My expectations were to learn more about
myself, how to effectively communicate with difficult people, and become a better leader. My
expectations were met. However, I have also learned that I need to develop my interpersonal skills
to bring people together. As I reflect over the leadership course, my weaknesses are a need to
develop my interpersonal skills, and having an introvert personality. Interpersonal skills are life
skills that I use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both individually, and in

A Leader 's Courage, Knowledge, And Wisdom
Introduction
A Leader's Courage, Knowledge, and Wisdom
The book Resilient Leader discusses many avenues of direction to promptly lead and organize. The
three components learned will be discussed in this paper are courage, knowledge and wisdom, these
three components have a congruent purpose that will be explained in this paper. The next section
includes strategies that organizations can use to improve their processes, to build up their leaders'
leadership skills, and increase their performance. The last sections contain a biblical integration of
courage, knowledge, and wisdom, followed by concluding remarks.
Courage
Hoff, (2015) states that some of the traits of a courageous leader are able to face adversity, holding
everyone to the same standards, encourages feedback, ask peers and employees for their input, and
have the ability to foster change in an organization. John Maxwell stated that "a great leader's
courage to fulfill his vision comes from, passion, not position" (Hoff, 2015, p. 33). According to the
Blackboard video, there are many types of courage found in leaders, such as mental, moral,
emotional, physical, and spiritual (Dees, 2014). When a leader is in the midst of a crisis and acts
boldly, with courage, it can define courage as the ability to take the proper action, to do the right
thing, for the right reasons, in the most efficient and effective way for all concerned.

Ricardo Semler 's Leadership Style
1. Describe Ricardo Semler's leadership style. What do you think the advantages and drawbacks of
his style might be?
Ricardo Semler's leadership style can be described as radical. This approach encourages followers to
share their ideas and apply their creativity and ingenuity to reach the company's goals. The
employees have the opportunity to offer suggestions to improve the company. Also, every employee
establishes their norms and their way of completing their job. They are free to choose their schedule,
their level of salary, and who will be their boss. This model gives the employee a positive feedback
since they are recognized for their good work and ideas.
Some of the advantages the radical leadership style has are:
The employees feel that they have greater responsibility and trust put on them, this can generate
greater participation, commitment and a better job performance.
Each employee is responsible for their own performance, creating self–commitment.
There are no restrictions on resources or schedules that prevent them to carry out their work
properly.
Subordinates are free to choose their schedule and their level of salary.
The employees have to assume the consequences of their actions.
The type of communication is open, there are no defined controls or pressures.

Self–awareness strategies that I followed to understand myself more was that I took the time to ask

Leadership Development Strategy And Succession Plan
Leadership development is the key to success in the United States Army as it continues to operate in
a rapidly changing and increasingly complex environment. After more than a decade of continuous
combat deployments, leadership development lost its significance and became a low priority within
most units army–wide. Over time, it resulted in a cultural effect that operational mission
requirements take priority over leader development. The intent of this paper is to examine the
existing leader development strategy and succession plan for the Army of 2013. This paper will also
reflect on some impending challenges for the leader development strategy and present some
recommendations using the Kouzes and Posner five–point model to trounce the challenges. The
Army Leader Development Plan has seven guiding principles established to develop leaders with
certain qualities and enduring characteristics. These guiding principles begin upon initial entry
training into the army and remain constant through retirement or until separation. The following
guiding principles encompass the Army Leader Development Strategy (2013):

Leadership As Sprouted By Northouse: The Authentic...
Transformational Leadership Northouse (2012) suggests that authentic leadership's roots originate
with transformational leadership; "It was identified earlier in transformational leadership research
but never fully articulated" (p. 253). With authentic leadership being one of the theories which most
influenced me, I thought it important to talk about this theory and learn how authentic leadership
sprouted from this earlier system. As stated by Northouse (2012), the transformational leadership
theory originated in 1973 by Downton (p. 185). "As its name implies, transformational leadership is
a process that changes and transforms people" (Northouse, 2012, p. 185). This style of leadership is
similar to authentic leadership in that they both relate to creating connection with their followers. In
addition, as remarked by Northouse (2012), "Transformational leadership is concerned with
improving the performance of followers and developing followers to their fullest potential (Avolio,

Northouse 2012) concluded that transformational leaders empowered and supported followers
during change, while they also "raise the consciousness in individuals and to get them to transcend
their own self–interests for the sake of others" (p. 199). These leaders also have high moral values,
know how to express their vision, and "listen to their followers" (Northouse, 2012, p. 200). These
leaders build trust through their relationships with followers and motivate those under them towards
the mission of the company or organization. These leaders influenced me greatly throughout my
Navy career and have helped transform me into a better leader by empowering, building, and
creating an environment in which I could thrive as a Sailor. "In the end, transformational leadership
results in people feeling better about themselves and their contributions to the greater common
good" (Northouse, 2012, p.

Authentic Leadership approach is kind of a leadership approach where the leader is defined as
genuine, moral and character–based leaders. ( (Bill George, 2016). Authentic leaders are always true
to their core values. The leader may or may not demand or request particular behavior or actions,
but she will demonstrate them, and expect or imply that others will follow. According to Bill George
of Huffinpost, "authentic leaders demonstrate five qualities, Understanding their purpose, Practicing
solid values, Leading with heart, Establishing connected relationships, Demonstrating self–

According to Pamela Spahr from St. Thomas University Transformational Leaders "possess a

(Spahr, 2015) Servant leadership is the kind of leadership where the leader himself is willing to

individual development and the transformational leader's focus on structural growth. According to

shockingly– workplace rights abuses. Every action the company takes leaves an imprint on the
company's brand image and it affects its future. Walmart claims that respect for employees is at the
very essence of the organization; however it seems that they are neglecting this founding principle.
Although their new CEO has made some significant improvements within the last year, it is still
evident that while they go out of their way to satisfy the needs of their investors and consumers,
they refuse to meet the needs of some of their most important stakeholders, such as employees and
suppliers. In determining the public affairs strategy of Walmart, there are many market and non–
market stakeholders who are very much impacted by what Walmart does. Organizations derive their
reputation from the way their behavior, actions and performance are perceived by all of their
stakeholders. The stakeholders' perceptions are formed by the amount of effort the company puts
into communication, engagement practices and relationship building. For the purpose of this
assignment, I will focus on three main groups that I think are of the upmost significance, require

Good communication skills
Effective communication skill is one of the most important leadership characteristics, or I would
prefer to describe it as a must skill that all leaders should acquire and develop consistently. Good
communication skills includes: active listening, building relationships through dialogue, engage
subordinates, understanding of cultural difference, walk the talk and lead by example (Forster
2009).
Good leaders should be good listeners. Leaders should actively and deeply listen to followers and
encourage a collaborative and open environment to promote the free exchange of ideas. Most
successful leaders believed in utilizing as many minds as possible and engage the followers thought
the organizational cycle. In addition, most of the communication breakdowns occur because of not
listing effectively. Poor communication is repeatedly cited as major problem in many organizations,
whether it is a top–down communication or among different departments and individuals. A leader
should have the ability and skills to create an effective communication strategy. During the history
many major crises were caused by miss–communication and it cost companies big losses, examples
of communication breakdowns were the ones occurred in NASA associated with crash of Space
Shuttle Challenger and the loss of the Mars Climate Orbiter (Forster

is a way of sharing information through expressing ideas and thoughts about a subject. In addition, it
is important for leaders to communicate because it improves their leadership skills, keeps the group
focused at the task at hand, and lets the group stay organized at all times. Moreover, leaders being
able to communicate among group members helps the leader understand everyone opinion, take
their ideas into consideration, and find out whether the group has thoroughly understood their

Command Philosophy
It is my honor to share my Command Philosophy with you. My intent is to ensure we
are trained and ready to accomplish any mission. The priorities essential to our success
are Leadership, Communication, Training, and Commitment.
a. Leadership: I expect all leaders' to lead by example. You will do what's right when
no one is looking. We need to give our Soldier's something to emulate. We need to
show them what attributes a leader must possess. A leader needs to be punctual,
articulate, motivated, and above else all leaders need to inspire. We need to inspire our

and sharpen your leadership skills. We need to encourage and ensure our Soldier's are
attending Primary Military Education courses. Section training is just as important as
mandatory training, it will improve the strength of the Soldier in their MOS and the
strength of your section.
d. Commitment: We will make a commitment to what I call the whole Soldier
concept. As leaders we will commit ourselves to taking care of our Soldier's, their
families and their development. We require a commitment from our Soldier's to show up
motivated, willing to learn, and adaptive on a moment's notice. We need to have that
same commitment to our Soldier's, in regard to us being prepared, willing to teach and

Global Leadership : The Next Generation Of Global Leaders
As Millennials continue to grow and dominate the workplace, leaders must identify the factors that
will create the next generation of global leaders and how to effectively tap into the vast reservoirs of
technological knowledge Millennials bring to the table. This speech will outline the relationship of
cause and effect as it relates Millennials, the next generation of global leaders.
Keywords: Leader, Organizational Leadership, Millennials, Global Leadership
Introduction
Global leadership is contingent upon an organization's ability to compete in the global marketplace
using goods, services, technology and human capital. It is the ability to create tangible strategies and
to turn them into reality (Holloway, 2009). Therefore, as global ... Show more content on

According to recent research, Millennials (75.5 million) have edged out the Baby Boomers (74.9
million), who are retiring, as the fastest growing group in the United States, with Generation X
lagging behind (66 million) (Fry, 2016). By the year 2020, Millennials will account for half of the
workforce and their impact on the economic is contingent upon how the economy is doing at that
time (Shin, 2015). The Education Testing Service found although Millennials are receiving more
education than any other generational group, they may lose their competitive edge against
international peers (Twaronite, 2015).
The Issue When it comes to Millennials, there is nothing that screams "business as usual."
Consequently, savvy leaders who want to remain successful in the global business arena, must
concede their current method of attracting, engaging, developing and retaining Millennials as future
global leaders is ineffective. Therefore, today's leaders must develop a more compelling strategy to
entice Millennials into leadership. Failure to use strategic foresight to recognize trends regarding
future organizational trends and take timely actions to change their tried and true, old school
philosophy regarding developing and retaining talented employees will result in losing the
competitive edge, which is driven by technology–laden Millennial's who are poised to innovation.

"Communication is a key to keeping teams together and on track." (Smith & Mraz, 2001 p.70). As
management of a global virtual and multicultural organization, it is difficult to maintain
organizational edge regarding current global and multicultural environmental trends without good
communication across the organization. Employees must be kept informed about global
environmental trends that affect their professions and the organization as a whole. They must be
kept informed about trends in management, policies, regulations, chain of command, roles and
responsibilities and what have you. There will be confusion, misunderstanding, productivity
problems and quality if there is no effective communication across organizational chain. Another
way by which leadership characteristics and practices can assist organizations in maintaining their
edge regarding current global and multicultural environmental trends is by ensuring that leaders are
social responsible. Global leaders re–examine their production and manufacturing practices and

Transformational Leadership : The New Leadership Paradigm
"Transformational Leadership: The New Leadership Paradigm"
Boosting morale, increasing motivation, and elevating job performance of followers are all
dynamics of a transformational leader. Transformational leadership can be defined as a leader's
approach to nurture and empower followers. This type of a leader exhibits charismatic and visionary
tendencies. As its name suggests, a transformational leader transforms and changes people. The
emergence of transformational leadership as an approach to leadership in regards to political leaders
was presented by James MacGregor Burns, a political sociologist. One of his primary focuses was
to link the roles of leadership and followers. Later, Bernard M. Bass, another researcher expanded
the work of Bass' original ideas by explaining certain psychological mechanisms regarding
transactional and transformational leadership as well as how transformational leadership can be
measured (Northouse, 2013). He also developed the earlier version of the Multi–factor Leadership
Questionnaire (MLQ) to measure transformational leadership through questions that measured the
followers' perceptions of a leader's behavior for each of the full range of leadership factors. A few
questions that I would like to address in this essay are what type of contributions do the four
transformational leadership factors have on leaders and followers, why have researchers deemed
transformational leadership as the new leadership paradigm,

greatness of computerized systems and that vision even though far at that time transformed in our

However, the cost of the inventory relates to the cost of the purchased material later in the recording
period. As such, the results in the inventory are valued towards the current replacement cost, in that
when there is inflation, adoption of FIFO leads to the lowest estimate of the costs of the goods sold
by the firm; this differs with the use of Last–in, First–out method or the weighted averages. In this
regard, the inventory valuation method affects reported results in that when the cost of the
inventories is greater than the market value, then provisions are made in order to cater for the
variation amid the cost and the market value.
As an industry leader, Apple Inc. is required to adopt quality internal control methods, which
guarantee its normal operations, increase efficiency and enhance accountability and transparency.
Among the internal controls that Apple Inc. adopts are the Internal Audit function, this is mandated
monitoring of the operations of the firm and reporting areas that require improvements (Apple Press

it can be more cost effective; the enterprise risk management, this evaluates the risks that the firm is

and in obtaining a cohesive group. Without a doubt, the Army needs good leaderships and leaders.
The Army leader is interested in the evolution and transformation of the organization. In the world
of today, where the rhythm of change is often intense, the leader has to be there to show the way,

Leading Like A Great Conductor Essay
Watching the "Itay Talgam: Lead like the Great Conductors" video orchestra my favorite
"Conductor" style was that of the final conductor because he lead the orchestra with his arms
completely crossed and occasionally instructed with is his face when a section should begin to play
or not.
A great leader is just like a great conductor being in a leadership role one has to find the best way of
seeing things from a different perspective. In viewing the video I saw that there were many parallels
that could be seen between corporations and an orchestra.
"Like an orchestra conductor, being a leader within an organization bears the same challenges trying
to create perfect harmony among the different variables in your business to ensure your organization
creates "beautiful" products and profits," (Leaders, March 2013).
In leading like a great conductor, one will not just lead but must bring out the best in their team
members. Therefore, a good leader may use gestures, facial expression, and eye contact to create a
strong sense of connection and involvement within their team to accomplish their mission.

Resistance Of Change And The Application For Nursing And...
Resistance to Change Change is inevitable and affects so many facets of life. Healthcare is
synonymous with change and is a revolving door for changes for very valid reasons. Leadership in
health care is pivotal. The strength of leadership has an unambiguous link to the quality of care and
the reputation of the profession. The paper will review the significance and literature surrounding
the topic of resistance to change and the application to nursing and leadership.
Significance to Leadership
Webster's Dictionary (2016) defines change as to become different; to make (someone or
something) different; to become something else. Many individuals embrace change and others resist
change, but working in the medical world it is inevitable that we will come in contact with change.
Many times we have all worked with someone who does things "the old way." Why do they resist
something new? In an article by Dr. Alyn (2011), the reasons why people resist change were
reviewed. People resist change for the following reasons: they do not see how the change is
beneficial, they don't recognize the benefits are worth the investment to adopt change, and they
weren 't involved in the decisions (Alyn, 2011). Knowledge related to this rationale should provide
insight for leaders as they prepare to influence change.
This understanding is significant because leaders can focus their energy on these elements to help
motivate staff to move forward in a positive direction. Staff members

Cisco : A Global Leader
I. Cisco Background
A global leader in powering networks used by a wide range of entities, Cisco was founded in 1984
and quickly grew to be the most profitable technology company with sales amounting to $39.5
billion in 2008. The 1995 Internet boom, which contrived a digitized platform for different
organizations, presented Cisco with new challenges that required innovative and creative solutions
to market its products. One of these challenges was evidenced by a 2007 survey that showed how
70% of corporations expected to increase their online bandwidth in order to accommodate the rising
rates of data transfer; a majority of the 70% expected the bandwidth to increase by over 20% within
the next two years. Besides the expected increase in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ergo, in order to accommodate the changing market, Cisco decided to solely rely on online digital
marketing, a bold and unprecedented move at the time. Despite the risky attempt by the company,
Cisco had considerable success with their online campaign.
II. Analysis
The "Virtual, Viral, and Visual" campaign helped Cisco on multiple fronts. Aside from its primary
goal of reaching a wide range of audience through the network, the digital campaign also
significantly helped Cisco reduce its carbon footprint and subsequent carbon emission by about
42,000 gallons of gas. The impact on the bottom line was nonetheless as substantial as the carbon
footprint reduction. At only a sixth of the traditional cost, the digital campaign saved the company a
total of about $120 million in marketing expenses in comparison to previous years. The
virtualization of the software of the ASR 1000 series also had an impact on Cisco's financial
situation by lowering the company's total operational and capital expenses. The digital campaign
and the virtualization of the router's software provided Cisco with a competitive financial advantage,
which ultimately gave Cisco a boost in terms of operational excellence. The application of the three
V 's campaign helped reach a wider and more diverse group of consumers. One of the key tactics

Building An Integrated Teamwork, Is Irreplaceable And...

  • 1. Building An Integrated Teamwork, Is Irreplaceable And... Globalization has become a significant issue that people are more willing to consider and discuss, due to the reason that people live in the diverse society nowadays. Being an organizational leader that they would be required to accept the differences from others, who come from different countries, to investigate how to build an integrated teamwork, which is irreplaceable and indispensable. X–Team could be a helpful book providing the leaders some specific ideas to implement the organizational program that they need more advice on how to play a global leadership role. There are three principles raised by Ancona and Bresman to establish a collaborative teamwork of the company that they elaborated building the trust with each other in the teamwork could be the first step for leading harmoniously. In order to be a successful part of the global team, the trust between team members could be the catalyzer to promote the team efficiency. Team members may have comparative ideas on the same situation, but they would not refuse to discuss with others when the trust has been built and would realize the others' opinions are reasonable and discussible. The trust could be the basic and necessary factor for the leader leading a global teamwork, which is composed of people coming from different countries with diverse culture. The first principle is external activity, which means it is needed to observe the surroundings that people should be aware of the changes not only in the internal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. My Leadership And The Army 's Leadership I spent a number of years at 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), based in Stuttgart, Germany. I grew up in the unit, learning as I went and increasing my responsibilities as I gained rank. Sometimes I had a Soldier or two for whom I was responsible. I mentored them, guided their activities, and pushed them to become better leaders. Then there were other periods where I wasn't necessarily responsible for troops. My leadership development took the form of mission management and initiative, unit training, or independent project development. I also began to notice the importance of organizational leadership and perspective. By the time I left the unit as a Staff Sergeant, having also undergone significant personal growth and maturing, I came to see leadership not so much as a set of tools to get things done, but an attitude or a mindset that must maintain. In my current assignment, it is my responsibility to project and promote the Army's leadership values every day. This role has significantly informed my more polished leadership philosophy in the last year. What I have found is that when I approach my work with the right mindset and regard myself as a leader in every moment, the actual tasks of any mission are simply accomplished at, or usually above, the standard. It is the most important elements of that mindset that I seek to discuss here: professionalism, trust, and service. To be a professional is to first recognize your work as a profession. This means ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chad 's Theory Of The Decision Making Process Essay Introduction Chad started with Amazon in August 2012 as an IT Engineer I. His technical acuity and leadership qualities had an immediate impact while he consistently worked above his level. Chad's technical proficiencies had an immediate effect as he was instrumental in multiple projects. These projects include establishing a new global standard for cable procurement across FCIT, MyTime Kronos time clock, and the 1D to 2D barcode project. He was subsequently promoted to an Engineer II in October 2013 and continued his track record of providing high–quality engineer services Chad continued to develop technically as his scope of responsibilities and the scale of his projects increased. He then focused on engagement, delegation, communication, and facilitated project completion by becoming an integral part of the decision–making process. Chad's success in these endeavors earned the trust of his leadership as he became a trusted resource while establishing himself as a leader amongst his peers. Leadership and Communication Chad's leadership was on display when he showed composure and high judgment after a water main broke at BNA3 flooding 1/3 of the East Pickmod. The leak cause significant damage as water poured into an IDF through low voltage cable conduit. Chad immediately took ownership and worked with local leadership and facilities to put forth an action plan to restore IT services in the affected area. He then delegated responsibilities to onsite engineers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Leadership Philosophy : A Leader 's Employees, And Growth... A clear leadership philosophy is important to the success of a leader, development of the leader's employees, and growth of the organization. As a future leader, I will explore my own leadership philosophy built on the principles of integrity, openness, and humility. I will discuss the importance of creating an environment that fosters mutual respect, recognizes each individual's potential, and inspires success. Using my own philosophy as a guide, I will discuss and analyze the approach a commander takes in managing her most challenging leadership issue and will compare and contrast her actions with my own leadership philosophy. My leadership philosophy is as follows: Leadership is forming relationships with people and guiding them to reach their full potential. My leadership philosophy developed over my professional career from research completed in leadership classes and personal experiences with leaders. The foundation of my leadership philosophy is formed on the principals of integrity, openness, and humility. Creating the right environment enables individuals to tap into their own potential and move the organization to accomplishing the mission. Openness and honesty eliminate communication barriers and allow for creative progress. Lack of humility can create an unnecessary obstacle. Leaders who view themselves as superior to their employees often inhibit productivity and ingenuity. The integrity of leaders is reflected in their decisions and in their ... Amazon offers a wide variety of products, ranging from hardcover books to jewelry to electronics, as conveniently as possible to its customers (About Amazon, 2009). Although Amazon has begun to revolutionize retailing, the company's competitive advantage and evolution has been put into question. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the recent news in 2009 regarding Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, web platforms competition is a must. It appears it would be unwise not to compete in such a growing industry where everyday some new form of technology is created. Every company is trying to top the other by incorporating the newest technology, which others may have created, into their next new application or product. As Amazon struggles to maintain market share and increase profitability for the company in general, one has to wonder whether they are spreading themselves to thin. The key question is can Amazon be everything to everybody. This certainly seems to be the direction Amazon is pursuing. Amazon's IT infrastructure is not running at full capacity and as a result of this, has led to innovative ideas to generate more revenue by allowing customers to pay for and utilize Amazon's infrastructure on a pay as you go concept. CEO Jeff Bezos (2007) stated, "What we 're doing is levelling the playing field so that small companies can have access to the same low–cost structure as big companies for very reliable backend infrastructure, and to do that in a pay–by–the– drink way –– so that you don 't have these big fixed–cost steps that you have to subject yourself to" (Information Week, ... • 8. The Transformational Journey Of Leadership "Leadership is unlocking people's potential to become better." –Bill Bradley The transformational journey of leadership is marked by personal growth and development. Once you become a leader, success in the area of leadership is characterized by your ability to assist others in their own personal growth and development. As a child, nascent experiences shaped my values around selflessness and the intrinsic ability to empower myself and others to reach optimal potential. My greatest desire has always been to enhance the wellbeing of those that find it difficult to live their lives to their fullest potential. Throughout my childhood, I was extremely inquisitive; I was curious about why people behaved in certain ways. I have always desired to better understand the behaviors of individuals and groups. As a result of the aforementioned interests and experiences, I pursued an undergraduate degree as a psychology major at Xavier University of Louisiana. I found myself specifically interested in classes that focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders, such as abnormal psychology, human sexuality and psychotherapies. Such classes encouraged my specific focus on issues related to mental health and emotional instability. I became encouraged to pursue my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. More specifically, my educational trajectory coursework has sought to convey the effects of therapy and other psychological concepts. This has shaped my desire to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Personal Review: Looking At The Dilbert Thank you, I will have a tall claussan. Looking at the Dilbert comic, I think most of us can relate to it from some sort of work experience. For me, it reflects on the various bosses, coaches or instructors that have preached one thing, and not followed by example. The second half of the cartoon represents to me why a leader or manger might avoid the conversation of asking subordinates what could be improved on, knowing full well that it will have a cascade affect that they are not prepared to deal with. Aristotle's quote on leadership tells me that everyone has to learn how to properly follow, as well as learn to know who to follow, in order to one day become a great leader. • 11. Comparing The Tolkien 's ' The Hobbit ' The contrast between different types of leadership appears in the chapter Flies and Spiders in J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit. The chapter starts off with the group no longer having Gandalf lead them through the perils that lie in the Mirkwood. Thorin helps lead the group past a deadly river that cannot be touched and helps them until he is captured by elves. Bilbo battle spiders and saves the dwarves on multiple occasions in Thorin's absence. In this chapter you see a new contrast in Throrin and Company. No longer having Gandalf Thorin picked up the mantle of leadership and lead by command. Bilbo then assumed the role of leadership in Thorins absence and lead by putting others first, putting himself on the line. As the story progresses you have these two types of leadership contrasting throughout the story. Ultimately in the end Bilbo's was of leadership proved to be better. When entering the Mirkwood Gandalf left the group leaving Thorin to lead the group through the woods. Thorin leads the group by command through Mirkwood usually delegating who should do what in the group. As the group is trying to find their way across the river on pages 132–133 Thorin takes command of the situation. Once the group had a solid plan Thorin delegates the order of travel "Who shall cross First said Bilbo" "I shall" said Thorin, "and you will come with me and Fili and Balin. The name Coca–Cola refers to two of its original ingredients: kola nuts, a source of caffeine, and coca leaves. Later on Dr. John S. Pemberton took his created flavored syrup to his neighborhood pharmacy and mixed it with carbonated water. Those who sampled it deemed the drink "excellent". Dr. Pemberton's partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Transformational Leadership Northouse (2012) suggests that authentic leadership's roots originate with transformational leadership; "It was identified earlier in transformational leadership research but never fully articulated" (p. 253). With authentic leadership being one of the theories which most influenced me, I thought it important to talk about this theory and learn how authentic leadership sprouted from this earlier system. As stated by Northouse (2012), the transformational leadership theory originated in 1973 by Downton (p. 185). "As its name implies, transformational leadership is a process that changes and transforms people" (Northouse, 2012, p. 185). This style of leadership is similar to authentic leadership in that they both relate to creating connection with their followers. In addition, as remarked by Northouse (2012), "Transformational leadership is concerned with improving the performance of followers and developing followers to their fullest potential (Avolio, 1999; ... These leaders build trust through their relationships with followers and motivate those under them towards the mission of the company or organization. These leaders influenced me greatly throughout my Navy career and have helped transform me into a better leader by empowering, building, and creating an environment in which I could thrive as a Sailor. Although their new CEO has made some significant improvements within the last year, it is still evident that while they go out of their way to satisfy the needs of their investors and consumers, they refuse to meet the needs of some of their most important stakeholders, such as employees and suppliers. In determining the public affairs strategy of Walmart, there are many market and non– market stakeholders who are very much impacted by what Walmart does. In leading like a great conductor, one will not just lead but must bring out the best in their team members. Therefore, a good leader may use gestures, facial expression, and eye contact to create a strong sense of connection and involvement within their team to accomplish their mission. The paper will review the significance and literature surrounding the topic of resistance to change and the application to nursing and leadership. Significance to Leadership Webster's Dictionary (2016) defines change as to become different; to make (someone or something) different; to become something else. Many individuals embrace change and others resist change, but working in the medical world it is inevitable that we will come in contact with change. Many times we have all worked with someone who does things "the old way." Why do they resist something new? In an article by Dr. Alyn (2011), the reasons why people resist change were reviewed.
