MUSIC and MATHS
1-INSTRUMENTAL RHYTHM - MARACAS:
Required tools;Card board,pasta, beads, glue, rulers, compasses
Rectangle: 25cm*35cm
Circle diameter:6cm
The measures of the rectangle and circle are given to the students and they make
cylinders.The students put small pieces of pasta or beads and the cover on top is
closed.Children songs of each partners’ is performed through beats in turn and the other
groups accompany them.
Through this activity,the students learn mathematical shapes.They cut the pieces in
mathematical shape.Then,maracas is made.
Description of the pedagogical aims:
Combining music with maths teaching.Main aims;
Visual Arts, Music and Movement ,Dramatic Play, Creative Thinking
Through the activities,the students
● Make a variety of sounds with their voices
● Create and sing chants.
● Approximate pitch and increase singing range.
● Recognize and select a variety of simple songs, finger plays, musical games, and musical activities alone
and with others
● Select and recognize a variety of songs from diverse cultures.
