3. LUNAR ECLIPSE
It occurs when the moon moves into earth’s
shadow.
The sun, the moon and the earth are exactly
aligned with the earth between the other
two.
A totally eclipsed moon is called the
“BLOOD MOON” due to its reddish color or
appearance
It takes an average of 2.5 years for an actual
blood moon to occur.
5. SOLAR ECLIPSE
A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the
earth is engulfed[To cover or surround
something completely ].
This occurs when the sun, the moon , and
the earth are aligned, in such alignment the
three of them make a solar eclipse.
It takes 375 years to a complete solar
eclipse to occur at the same place.
6. When does a solar
eclipse occur
IT OCCURS ON A DRACONIC
MONTH { REMEMBER IT
OCCURS TWICE }
[27.212220 DAYS]
7. When does a full
moon occur
NEW MOON OCCURS EVERY
SYNDRONIC MONTH
{ REMEMBER IT OCCURS ONLY
ONCE }
[29.530587981 DAYS]
9. UMBRA
Umbra means it is a complete shadow . It is
no wonder it is named as such since this type
of shadow is responsible for greatest eclipses
namely the total lunar eclipse and the solar
eclipse.
This type of shadow also creates partial
eclipses, [it covers the full moon][or sun ]
10. PENUMBRA
Although it does not mean a complete
shadow, it is the lighter outer part of a
shadow and it is a factor that causes
penumbral lunar eclipses and partial lunar
eclipses when viewed from penumbra even
the fully hidden moon or no moon [seen
from umbra]seems to be like a penumbral
lunar eclipse.
[ it covers small portions of the moon].
11. ANTUMBRA
There is small portion of sun that we can
see it is so small.
[it covers large parts of the moon but it
leaves small parts of it]
13. When the source of
light is point source
and extended
obstacle
Here the shadow has no penumbra only
umbra due to distance between the light
source [here it is closer to the light source]
14. When obstacle is
bigger than the
extended source
Here the penumbra is formed due to the
distance between the light source and the
opaque body[it is far away from the light
source]
15. When source of
light is bigger than
the obstacle
In this case the light source is bigger than the
opaque body so smaller shadow will be
formed[smaller umbra and penumbra
