• It has no Subject and no Predicate.

4. ADVERB PHRASE
• A Prepositional Phrase that modifies a verb, an
adjective, or an adverb is called an Adverb Phrase.
• An Adverb Phrase tells how, when, where, why or to
what extent (how long or how far).
• Eg:- 1) I am staying at the hotel.
2) I wrote the letter in the morning.

5. ADJECTIVE PHRASE
• An adjective phrase is a group of words headed by
an adjective that describes a Noun or a Pronoun.
• Eg:- 1) Ravi is a batsman with skill.
2) The boy with blue eyes gave me a packet.

6. NOUN CLAUSES
• A Noun Phrase is a group of words that acts as a noun in
a sentence.
• Eg:- 1) Walking in the rain is enjoyable.
2) The Teacher found her lost book.

7. CLAUSES
• A Clause is a group of words that forms part of a larger
sentence and has a Subject and a Predicate of its own.
• Eg:- 1) We cannot start while it is raining.
2) I think that you have made a great mistake.
3) He knows how he could do it.

9. DEPENDENT CLAUSES
• They depend on other sentences. They are joined with
sub-ordinate conjunctions. (also known as a subordinate
clause).

10. INDEPENDENT CLAUSES
• The sentences that stand alone with meaning and are not
dependent are called Independent Clauses.
• Eg:- 1) The boy runs
2) She got a new puppy last week

11. NOUN CLAUSES
• A Noun Clauses is a group of words that contains a
subject and predicate of its own and does the work of a
Noun.
• Eg:- 1) Pay attention to what I say.
2) What he said is true.

12. ADVERB CLAUSES
• An Adverb Clause is a group of words that contains a
Subject & a Predicate.
• It does the work of an Adverb.
• Eg:- 1) Put it where you can find it easily.
2) You can sit where you like.

13. ADJECTIVE CLAUSES
• An Adjective Clause is a group of words that contains a
Subject & a Predicate of its own and does the work of
an Adjective.
• Eg:- 1) The dog that bites does not bark.
2) He died in the village where he was born.
