6.  Student Health provides health care for acute
illness, stable chronic illnesses, contraceptive
counseling, and contraception, well women
examinations, physical examinations, and STI
counseling and testing.
 Student Health and Wellness is also able to
provide immunizations and laboratory testing.

7.  Student Health is staffed by Nurse
Practitioners, Registered Nurses, a Health
Educator, and support staff.
 Physician consultation is available to the Nurse
Practitioners as needed and a Physician is
onsite weekly.
 Nurse Practitioners can assess, diagnose, and
treat acute illnesses and stable chronic illnesses.
They can also prescribe medications as needed
for illnesses.

success by providing timely and accurate

12.  There is no visit charge for currently enrolled
UMKC students.
 Some services do incur a fee.
 Charges can be paid by cash, check, or
student’s UMKC account.

14.  Students may be seen regardless of their insurance
status.
 Student Health does not bill insurance directly.
 An itemized and coded form can be requested and
submitted to insurance for reimbursement by the
student.
 UMKC does not offer a student accident and
sickness insurance plan through Aetna Student
Health.
