Coloring&Dementia
Individualized art therapy was developed in an
inpatient setting using felt material cut into
shapes and coloring with stencils and pre-
drawn line drawings utilizing preserved skills
of coloring, while supporting frontal-executive
and language deficits. The activity was
replicable and carried over to the residential
care setting and supported by family and

Diversity
While this shows examples of
coloring books focusing on
different cultures, there
are also a number of
coloring options developed
for the underserved and
communities of color. You
could ask student to compare
and contrast culture as
communicated in coloring
books, or could also invite
students to create coloring
pages to tell the story of a
specific community.

Feminism
As an example of coloring
books used to explore a
specific cultural concern. This
is only one example, and
there are other topics worth
exploring. It’s interesting to
see how people are using this
space to create awareness &
advocacy.

pages scrape or steal the images from
others. This includes Pinterest,
Photobucket, Flickr, etc. Preferred
sources are sites that are owned and
managed by the artist or publisher.
Viruses
It’s not just porn, torrents, & quiz
sites anymore! Some of the free coloring
page sites have started to spawn viruses
and phishing.
