A recruiter’s job involves more than just hiring
people. Recruiters need to interact with different
personalities, identify whether candidates have
relevant skills for a position, get to know their
employer from within the company, have
experience in the latest recruitment technology and
much more.
This means there are many more recruitment skills
to look at when evaluating a candidate for an open
recruiter role. It also puts emphasis on the
importance of effective listening in recruitment.
Importance of Effective Listening in Hiring
The recruiters need to have strong listening skills to understand the candidate and to know if the candidate can be
fit for the job role.
 Candidates like the recruiters who give attention to them
 Communication is not the only way. Good listeners show interest, ask open-ended questions, and accept
what is said.
 Recruiters with sophisticated listening skills try to understand the candidate’s message entirely.
 Giving attention to candidates will show them that you are interested in them, and their response is
valuable to you.

communication. Communication is not only about effective speaking, but also it’s about effective listening.
High impact listening can make you a better recruiter because you listen to the candidate carefully. Then
the candidate will also know that you are giving value to their answers and observing them. It will show
the candidates that you’re interested in their response.
