1. The original colonies didn't like be ruled by King George III and were angry about
Parliament passing laws affecting their well-being without having representation.
Many events led up to the of the American Revolution.
One cause of the American Revolution was the Quartering Act which allowed
British soldiers to stay in the Colonist's homes without permission.
Families were forced to feed and provided shelter without any compensation.
Another cause of the American Revolution was the Sugar Act of 1764 which taxed
products such as sugar and molasses.
This incident prompted James Otis to publicly announce to England that “Taxation
without representation was a tyranny.”
Along with the Sugar Act, colonists were outraged with the Stamp Act of 1765
which taxed legal documents such as diplomas, contracts, newspapers, and even
playing cards.
Soon the Stamp Act Congress was formed led by Sam Adams and the Sons of
Liberty. They took drastic measures such as burning stamps and paper.
After the Intolerable Acts, Colonists formed the First Continental Congress which
banned together to fight against the British Army. The first battle was in Lexington
in 1775 which officially started the American Revolution
