Abstract
The Ethiopian Ministry of Education is hugely investing on ICT/e-tools with an aim to improve
quality of teaching and learning in universities. Despite all these investments on ICT
infrastructure, equipments and professional development, perception of instructors in ICT
integration towards teaching and learning process have been undermined. Therefore, the aim of
this research is to investigate the perceptions of university instructors towards ICT integrated
education in higher education institutions. A survey method was the research design employed
and relevant data were obtained from four universities namely: Mekelle, Adigrate, Aksum, and
Semera universities. Questionnaire was dispatched for 309 instructors and interview was held
with 18 deans of colleges. The research has used a Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)
v.20.0, descriptive methods, mean, standard deviation, percentage, independent samples t-Test
and MANOA. Teachers were compared their perception of integrating technology based on
gender, age, number of teaching years, field of specialization, academic rank, and administrative
responsibility held in line to the university management. Results of the assessment showed that
there was positive teacher’s attitude towards integrating ICT into their instructional process.
Major conclusions were that significant differences existed for integration of ICT into instruction
based on age, sex, and field of study, while there were no differences based on teaching work
experience, academic rank and administrative position.
