Batman Monologue
"See I'm not a monster...I'm just ahead of the curve". After giving Batman a monologue about how
Gotham City will eventually betray him, the psychotic Joker tells him how he knows this will
happen. This one quote, from my favorite movie (The Dark Knight), has changed my outlook on life
and its shape as a whole. Normally, it wouldn't be the best idea to gain inspiration from perhaps the
most notorious fictional villain in history, but this quote, in particular, has a much deeper meaning
than shallow self–validation.
To fully understand the quote, the context must first be understood. The Joker's elaborate plan to
cause chaos in Gotham City involves getting caught by police, interrogated by Batman, and then
subsequently blowing up the station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took 7 weighted classes, something that had never been done before in our school's history,
believing that I could easily handle it. The first week of the semester proved that I could not handle
it. I was getting no sleep, failing my first tests, and my AP Literature teacher even asked me if she
should talk to my counselor about reducing my courseload. Of course, I declined. The same stress
(albeit a lot less) was there for everyone. Junior year of high school is a killer, from much harder
classes to SAT prep and an increased number of AP tests academically to prom and sports socially.
The vast majority of students at my high school dealt with this stress one way: drugs. My friends
were no exception. I did not succumb, my parents instilled better values in me. So instead, I put my
head down and worked, using other stress relievers to ensure that I didn't kill myself. I partied
(sober), hung out with my girlfriend, watched sports, and chilled with my friends whenever they
weren't on drugs. I tried convincing them out of drugs, but they didn't listen. That's when I realized
the second truth – that everyone believed what they were doing was right, just like the Joker did.
The Joker believed he was ridding Gotham City of its filth (politicians and police), and my friends
believed they were doing what they needed to do to stay alive, after all, they needed to cope with
pressure from their parents and peers academically, pressure socially, and pressure athletically. I did
not agree, but I understood that they needed drugs, otherwise they would get withdrawals and fail
school (this happened one week and it was really

How Is Batman Changing
Have you ever had a TV show that you loved so much but it was ruined thanks to new versions of
it? Well Batman Begins by Christopher Nolan is the complete opposite of this. Christopher Nolan
toke the character of Batman and changed it to transform it into a new character by changing the
story, changing his character a bit and changing the characters that are in the story. Changing all of
this made the story fresh and alot more interesting.
In the original batman the story started in November 1939's "Detective" #33 a mugger accosted
Thomas Wayne, his wife and son while they were walking home from a movie. He demands Mrs.
Wayne's necklace, Thomas intervenes and is shot; and when Mrs. Wayne calls for help, the mugger
shoots her too.
The mugger then leaves the grieving boy alone with his parents bodies under the now–iconic
streetlight. A caption describes his eyes "wide with terror and shock as the horrible ... Show more

The way he is different is Batman seems to be more fearless in the comics because he openly went
up to the city officials and said none of you are safe. The only way the story is same is because the
way the past is shown is the same, how Batman calls the Bats and at the end it talks about the joker.
There are so many ways that they are different in because in the movie Batman fights Scarecrow,
Ra's Al Ghul, there is Rachel in the movies Lucius Fox is in the Movies shaping him, with the Scene
of Bruce's dad telling him why do we fall. it shows and it shows him training in Asia learning
everything. In the Comic it shows him fighting the swat team saving Gordons baby and Catwoman
is only in the book and later appears in the movies. The worlds are actually similar because there is
a lot of crime and bad things happening in Gotham and the only way I see how its different is that it

Batman As A Hero
GOTHAM– A man with a suit looking similar to a bat stands on the top of a building overlooking
the city that he has protect for the last few years. This man to all of those who live in Gotham is
known as the Batman. He has kept the streets of Gotham safe from the evil that our fair city
possesses. From the elite people of Gotham to those in the Narrows, we give thanks to our beloved
caped crusader for all his work for Gotham.
There are those who believe that Batman is a another vigilante wearing a mask. Even Commissioner
James Gordon many years ago stated these words about the caped crusader " He's the hero that
Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it.
Because he's not our hero. he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Dark Knight." Our
commissioner's words never stopped the Batman in his fight against the forces of evil, nor the hope
of the people of Gotham for a better city.
"You either die a hero... or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." These words
were once state by Gotham's former district attorney Harvey Dent is commonly known now as
Two–Face. Many who take these words to heart have the same question that plague the people of
Gotham. What has the Batman done for our city? What is the legacy that he is leaving us with?
Many don't know the reason behind the caped crusader fights against the forces of evil, he has more

Batman High Angles
In the film The Dark Knight Rises, Batman states that he 'is whatever Gotham needs him to be.' He
can either be a hero or an outlaw to the people of his city. Batman is a tortured soul and is very
aware that it is not right to uphold the law by breaking it. He is not convinced that his violence is
justified by locking up the villains.
Real world people are more like Batman in the sense that the right thing to do is obvious but
sometimes not. One often judges situations for the best result and sometimes the answer collides
with their morals. Nobody is completely good or bad. The most unassuming people can go through
with appalling acts if placed in the wrong situation, or react with selflessness and kindness. Batman
can be seen as morally ambiguous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The darkness sets the mood of the film. Batman's iconic suit was created by Lucius Fox, which
contains armor for protection. His cowl acts as a protective helmet and he has retractive blades on
his gauntlets. The bat emblem on his chest is considerably smaller than those used in previous films
and there is a concealed cape which sits near his shoulder blades, helping him glide through the city
effortlessly. His cowl allows him to spy on his surroundings with infrared vision, ultraviolet vision
and night vision, and one ear of his cowl contains a device which allows him to use echolocation to
triangulate objects or people via cell phones. He carries gadgets such as the Batarang and grapple
gun in his utility belt. Special effects such as the explosions, the Batmobile colliding with the
rubbish truck and Batman jumping off a building and gliding through the city give the film a more

The Batman And Nihilism
In the Dark Knight, the Joker did not prevail in showing that the city of Gotham was Nihilistic. The
practice of Nihilism is that of showing how the world has no morals and or beliefs that matter or are
true. The Joker, an active Nihilist, or one that takes action upon his feelings, is looking to prove that
nothing matter in the city of Gotham. He puts the people of Gotham through many dilemmas and
situations in which the Joker was looking forwards to prove and show accuracy of his beliefs. The
city of Gotham, the Gotham City Police Department or (GCPD), and Batman succeed and prevail,
not falling back on their morals which include Batman's one rule, which he does not break, which is
"(Batman) never kill(s)." Overall, three situations that show the Joker's defeat are the ferryboat
situation, Batman not killing the Joker, and Harvey Dent becoming Two–Face in which Harvey
Dent "dies a hero, or lives long enough to see himself become the villain." One of the Joker's great
scenes in which he tries to put Batman to the test is in the many and countless situations in which
the Joker tries to get Batman to kill him. The Joker almost gets Batman to kill him many times such
as in the interrogation room, on the street when Batman is on the motorcycle, when the Joker is
hanging upside down from Batman's hand off of a ledge of a building, etc. Batman's one rule is that
he will not kill anyone, as seen in the rest of the movie. The only thing that makes the Joker

Vigilantism In Batman
Journal 03 – Vigilantism When I hear the word vigilante, there's one thing that comes to mind:
Batman. From the time I was a little girl watching the Batman movies, I have always supported the
idea of a vigilante. To me, seeing Batman deliver justice on criminals had always been very
exciting. As I grow older and wiser I've developed more of an understanding of the corruption that
does destroy our justice system which makes me support vigilantism even more. Though real life
isn't quite as dramatic as the Batman movies, I like the idea of a masked vigilante protecting those
who cannot protect themselves. Vigilantes are the heroes that every community needs to swiftly deal
out justice. Traditionally, there will always be two sides to the

fear of the dark. Over the course of 4 months he mourned and turned his attention to becoming a

wife was killed is because Batman did not rid of them for good. Using his knowledge of light ray

Batman As An Anti Hero
"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me." Said by Bruce Wayne, explains how
he feels about what he does as Batman. His actions as Batman prove him as an anti–hero.
Christopher Nolan portrays Batman as an antihero through isolation of the character, and a dim
setting of the movie. Throughout the movie, Bruce Wayne continues to distance himself from
society as Batman. While attending the hotel party Rachel confronts Bruce about doing more for the
city. He tells her he is now a better person but doesn't allow her to know he is Batman. Even the
closest to him he chooses not to let know what he is doing for the city. Next when in the warehouse

Homosexuality In Batman
DC Comics once accidentally gave us one of the most diverse characters in the history of comics, a
strong woman of color who happens to be a lesbian. I'm sure everyone remembers Batman The
Animated Series. It stands as arguably one of the best cartoons ever aired with solid plot lines that
weren't so dumbed down for five year olds that adults found them annoying (I'm looking at you
Teen Titans Go). One of the new characters created just for the animated series was Officer Renee
Montoya, the young idealistic partner of the cranky veteran Harvey Bullock. The character was an
instant hit and soon made her debut as one of Gotham's finest in Batman. Promoted to Homicide

there she struggled with her identity with the help of Richard Dragon, one of the men who helped
mold Bruce Wayne into the Batman. Before his death the Question told Renee that his wish was for
her to take over his mantle and continue his work. During and after 52 Renee, as the Question

Batman Begins
How do you follow up the best superhero movie ever? Christopher Nolan presented that challenge
to himself when he decided to make a sequel to Batman Begins. Usually, sequels do not surpass the
original, and whatever followed Batman Begins seemed poised to fail compared to its predecessor.
To answer the opening question, you make The Dark Knight, a movie that validated the superhero
genre as a real, serious category and showed that sequels can outshine the original.
The Dark Knight takes place after the events of Batman Begins. Batman (Christian Bale) has

Batman debatably has the most intriguing group of villains of any superhero franchise. The most
well–known and popular villain of any superhero franchise is the Joker, the most commonly
believed origin story of the Joker is that he was driven insane after falling into a tank of chemical
waste which bleached his skin, made his hair green and turned his lips bright red. The Joker is
considered the ultimate adversary for Batman because he is the opposite of Batman in both
appearance and personality. His sadistic humor coupled with his psychopathic tendencies have made
him a very entertaining supervillain in movies, comic books and even in video games. Catwoman is
also one of the more recognizable characters in the Batman franchise. She is an interesting
character, shown as a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who was unable to avoid a life of crime
because she grew up on the streets. Also it often isn't clear if she is a villain or a hero due to her
shifting allegiances, perhaps her character was designed like this to discourage the pre–existing
notion that heroes only did good things and villains always did evil things. Characters like
Catwoman are very rare in superhero stories, not only does she have a personal relationship with
Batman and had a split personality she is also one of the only female characters to have a major role

Through an analysis of both the comic and animated version of Batman: Year One, the variations in
narrative structure of each type showcases the creative choices that moving image media and the
comic form afford. When compared with one another, the variation in dialogue and shot structure
create two different story worlds that vary in focus, with the comic book emphasizing Batman and
his role in the scene and the moving image media focusing on Commissioner Gillian and the
Gotham elite. Both mediums construct this focus with the use of dialogue and shot scale. The comic

Batman's face is only included at the very end as he says, "None of you are safe," Gillian's reactions

Both Batwoman and Batman are vigilantes in the fictional city of Gotham. The characters mostly
exist in the comics to help each other. With Batwoman being initially created to set her partner's
sexuality record straight, they take off to work together. Their existence in Gotham as Batman and
Batwoman, albeit being illegal, is much need by the residents who suffer in the hands of the highly
skilled criminals – such as the Joker – who have mastered their techniques. The police department is
simply lacking in comparison to the skills of the criminals and they cannot help but watch as the

Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC
Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face
during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted
her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any
superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters
wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent
superhero with her own ways and rulebooks.
Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal
acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery
shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do – he simply watched as his parents'
bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy's mind. He could not, no
matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After school and
running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by fighting
criminals.
Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman's painful
sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. At the age twelve, on her birthday, Kate,
her twin sister and her mother were kidnapped, but her mother and supposedly her sister

Batman Films Vs. Batman
Batman is one of the most well–known superheroes in the world. Since his first appearance in
Detective Comics #27 in 1939, he seems to have just gotten more famous even after over 75 years.
However, the Batman that audiences see now is not the same Batman that first appeared in 1939.
Batman had a solid moral compass and could very clearly see the line between right and wrong. In
most of the early films and serials, he is cheesy to a point where it becomes hard to watch.
Throughout the years, Batman films have become increasingly more sinister and menacing, when
they used to be comical and cheesy in the early films. Although there are numerous versions of

Later in the film, Batman's origin story is shown and young Bruce Wayne does witness the deaths of
his parents. This film is dark visually because Gotham is dark and dimly lit. That makes the film
seem more menacing. There is far more crime in 1989 Gotham than there was in 1966 Gotham, and
the criminals actually appear threatening. They look rough and brandish weapons, instead of just
fist–fighting. As in most Batman films, Joker adds some danger. Jack Nicholson's portrayal of Joker
definitely makes Joker seem crazier and more of a loose cannon. Jack Nicholson played crazy Jack
Torrance in The Shining (1980) only nine years before playing Joker in Batman. It could be argued
that audiences were so scared of his insane mannerisms as Torrance that their fear carried over when
watching him as Joker in Batman. Nicholson does portray Joker as being actually crazy and
unpredictable, which keeps the audience on their toes. Nicholson has crazy eyes and does not seem
to be someone who is warm and cozy, in fact, he seems the opposite. As an actor, he plays
characters that are intense and a little frightening, but that makes him a good actor to play a villain
because he has that villainous reputation. The Dark Knight is arguably the darkest Batman film to

Iron Man and Batman are examples of heroes who do not possess super powers. Even though they
do not have super powers, both heroic characters use their wealth in order to build high–tech

from harm and prevent injustice. Iron Man and Batman have similarities and they differ in terms of
their background, ability to fight crimes, and how their image is portrayed.
Batman's alter ego is Bruce Wayne, a wealthy business man who inherited his family's company,
Wayne enterprise, from his deceased parents. Bruce Wayne was motivated by guilt and hatred after
witnessing his parents death at a young age; he was helpless when he was a child, and as he grew up
he mastered martial arts and trained himself to be someone who is strong and capable to protect the

Tony Stark is a billionaire playboy who became Iron Man after being captured and held a prisoner

Batman As A Hero
In the world of superheroes, there are numerous that believe they are heroes, while in actuality, they
are merely vigilantes. This is demonstrated throughout the world of superheroes, but it is not as
prominently demonstrated as in The Batman. Batman presents himself as a hero, while he is only an
over imaginative vigilante. He is more a vigilante than a hero since he has the ability to stop crime,
but doesn't, he only does deeds for his own benefit, and he helps the law but isn't part of it. These
are only a few ways Batman is a vigilante instead of a hero. These are mainly based on the idea of
him trying to right his own past. Batman is more of a vigilante than a hero considering he has the
ability to stop crime but doesn't. He prances about "protecting" the city of Gotham but doesn't stop
the crimes that are happening every day, which include robberies, home invasions, along with car
thefts. People might vocalize that a single person could not stop every crime, while this is the case,
Batman does not show even the slightest mindset to stop even one petty crime. The only people he
tries to stop are super villains, which were once petty robbers turned to mass murders. If Batman
stopped superficial crimes, then there would not be supervillains that went about destroying the
world. In the real world, people are turning into greater heroes than Batman by stopping crime
before it happens. "While he was trying to rob from the clerk, a bystander fought and stabbed the

PTSD In Batman
The film begins with Bruce Wayne, Batman, recalling his parent's murder. We are introduced to an
older dark Batman who brands and kills criminals. Throughout the film, we are reminded of the
destruction that superman has caused in Metropolis when he indirectly destroyed the city. Lex
Luthor takes advantage of the situation by manipulating Batman to hate Superman (Clark Kent), and
capturing Superman's mother forcing the heroes to fight each other. Furthermore, the character
Bruce Wayne, in Batman v Superman (BVS), illustrates a clear example of post–traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) because of evidence of flashbacks, impulsive behavior and his inability to sleep.

little too much focus on Batman as the driving Idea it is not really about Batman the actual

They contained elements to the story that broke cliche because they went for the opposite of what
feels right. The first one, Fear and Loathing, was about a mans drug addiction and how his brain
worked while on them. The other was about Batman's death, from the point of view of his ghost.
Both comics were engaging because they weren't like other stories you expect to read. Their
openings both had a special effect that made you want to keep reading. In order to have a successful
story you must achieve the proper hook. This way when your reader starts the story they want to
finish it and find out what happens. When I first started reading the comic about drugs, I was
confused as to where this story was going to lead. Drugs are something that is highly looked down
upon and because this author chose to write about it and poetry it as this mans passion, was
confusing yet engaging. His strength however was the curiosity as to how and why this person was
driving while on drugs and what role the partner was playing. His weakness in the story however
was the concept of using drugs and where the story was going. It showed that he was about to
become dangerous if necessary while on drugs stating he would cut the head off of a man. While
entertaining to see whether or not he would, it made me feel that this man was stupid and I didn't

Gotham City is one of the most well–known cities to DC comic book readers and to any super hero

tyrants to justice. As he says in the Dark Knight film, "I'm going to show the people of Gotham that

Batman Issues
The hype surrounding this movie in the three years before its release is something I personally have

expanding the characters and storylines to new heights. It falls completely flat trying to do so. This
movie is a cluttered mess that is being slammed by critics and many loyal fans that saw the same
issues that have plagued other comic book movies. The laundry list of problems with this movie
start at an editing level, the movie is cut wrong. There seem to be key parts of the movie missing,
mostly character development and motivations for the characters actions. The basic assumption the
audience can make in the film is Batman and Superman are good, because that is what they are in
every other form of media they are in, and that Lex Luthor is bad because of the same reasons.
These editing issues also never establish a good pace, every scene doesn't matter because in a matter
of minutes it will go to the next. Many scenes in this movie are not important twenty minutes down
the line in the movie. This movie does not suffer from a major plot hole, it suffers from a lack of

logical response to Batman. Alfred made a similar point arguing that in desperation of the justice–

Is Batman A Hero
Batman was created by Bob Kane and is regarded as one of the best comic book characters. Over
the years he has been known for taking on impossible odds for any human to face, often winning

As much as I love Batman comics, movies, and TV series, too many fans have this absurd notion
that he can beat anyone if given prep time. Granted, Batman is one of those type of heroes who has
the ability to outsmart a multitude of villains or other heroes using strategy, detective skills, martial
arts, and technology, but even with all this in his favor there are many characters he will never be

In reality, Batman only beat the man of steel because he had access to some thing he knew would
diminish his natural power, making him weak in the process. (also a result of the pain) So,
technically his win doesn't count. Not much strategy was needed for what he did in this fight.
Depending on how you play it, anyone could beat Superman when he's like that. If Superman did
not have Kryptonite as a weakness, the dark knight would have been killed or would be left with no
choice but to escape. In a similar scenario, if we were to replace the man of steel with another such
as Galactus, or Thanos, Batman would easily lose this fight because they simply have no exploitable
weakness he could use to beat them. No amount of preparation, technology, or human physicality
can compete with a being who is light years beyond average or Olympic levels of power,
specifically godlike entities. Another point worth noting is Bats' track record against foes smarter
and more skilled then him. He has been beaten many times by Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke,
Lady Shiva, and a few others throughout his career which he has never outsmarted or beaten in a

Batman As Superheros
For many, a superhero must have certain qualities. People want a superhero that is loyal, selfless,
smart and strong. These characteristics are what many superheroes in comic books have; and in the
early twentieth century, many teen boys were turning to for guidance. Batman was created for the
kids who did not have it very easy. Batman saw both of his parents murdered and became a vigilante
to fight off crime. Bruce Wayne changes into Batman for the better and portrays the better qualities
of a hero as opposed to Dr. Jekyll in the book, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by
Robert Louis Stevenson. Dr. Jekyll changes himself from a good man to an evil man. Much like
many other superheroes, Batman is the alter–ego of Bruce Wayne. Some heroes may not have an
alter ego like mythological heroes. Heroes are able to have all different sorts of characteristics; it
just depends on their story. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde, Dorian Gray has used his
portrait to be eternally young and learns to see evil as beautiful (150). Unlike Dorian, Batman is
everything but selfish and risks everything for the better of man–kind. Batman will always be the
superhero that kids can look up to and know is going to give everything he has to better this world.
When it comes to super human powers, that is where Batman lacks. He has no powers to his human
self that make him who he is. Batman is the alter–ego of Bruce Wayne who is a very intelligent

Although the Batman: Year one was released almost thirty years ago, it was one of the most popular,
best known origins in popular culture because of its true character and raw chain of events: a young
boy becomes scarred for life after he sees his family murdered in a dark alley by a quarrelsome
mugger simply by chance. After years of training to be the greatest crime–fighter in the world
evolves the Batman, one of the greatest superheroes of all time and protector of Gotham City.

The mistake was not accounting for the impact first person narration had over placing the characters
and narrative action within their proper context in the original comic. This mistake is vividly
apparent in a scene where Batman is on one of his first adventures to fight crime in his costume
where he attacks three teenagers that are in the middle of robbing an apartment. The scene does not
have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost throwing one of teens off a fire escape then
saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats them and saves the
other boy he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being a "lucky amateur".
The scene in the original comic is much more different as Wayne's emotions, feelings, observations,
the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are portrayed through Wayne's
first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene,
all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated version. Instead of slowly
uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration,
all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original
scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when compared to the brief scene from
the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the

Batman And Greek Mythology
Myths are everlasting stories that have been passed on for decades. Usually, these stories contain
special significance depending on culture and religion. Although there are several types of
mythology, Greek mythology is one of the most popular. It was created by the ancient Greeks to
serve as a basis for their religious beliefs and cultural practices. Greek myths consist of gods and
goddesses, which obtain unique superpowers that permit them to control nature in all of its forms.
Furthermore, ancient mythology has inspired contemporary culture by linking similar characteristics
to new characters and improved stories. Modern day society has reimagined mythology through
superheroes that save the world from villains and crime. Some superheroes have special powers
either from birth or from scientific experiments, while others become heroes by training and with
the help of modern technology; however, these modifications do not disregard the fact that modern
folklore developed from ancient tales. For instance, Batman is the modern interpretation of Achilles
because they are an archetype, share several characteristics, and demonstrate the evolution of
mythology.
To start off, Batman is a modernized version of Achilles. In other words, the Batman character
serves as an archetype of Greek mythological hero, Achilles. According to Literary Devices, "An

Characteristics Of Batman
Batman a true American hero There are numerous things that can construct an American hero in
today's society, maybe they are really strong, intelligent or they are just a tremendous role model
plenty of people believe that heroes require superpowers in order to be a true superhero, but not
necessarily heroes could occasionally just be an ordinary everyday person like a firefighter,
policeman, EMT or someone like a veteran or maybe even for some people their hero just might be
their mother, father, aunt, uncle or grandparents. Batman symbolizes American heroism because he
is courageous, intelligente and he has both physical and mental strength. The first reason Batman
shows that he is an American hero is because he shows that he is courageous. For example Batman
shows he is courageous when he allows the Joker to handcuff him and put him into a shark tank and
then at that point he is forced to wrestle a shark. According to a video published about three years

The Joker : The Batman Vs. Batman
"We look up at the same stars, and see such different things," George R.R Martin. This quote in
addition to courage creates a whole new world to me. It made me think about how many different
ways courage can be portrayed. Along with the way the person's personality might change that
perspective even more. As we had the class discussion on the summer reading books and made
connections to courage, some thoughts went through my head. I wondered if the people around me
thought the same things about courage. One kid brought up Hitler and that people think that Hitler
was courageous for what he did. I started to consider heroes and villains, like Batman and The
Joker. Their perspective might be that The Joker is more courageous than Batman. I realized that all
this had to do with people's perspectives. Let's look at the example above. I find Batman to have
more courage than The Joker. Due to the danger that he puts himself in to protect people and to stop
The Joker. On the other hand some people might support the fact that The Joker is more courageous,
because he keeps trying even though he doesn't succeed. I find trying to dominate the world
uncourageous, in fact it looks like he is just trying to get recognition and is looking for attention.
When Batman goes in to stop his plan, he isn't looking for attention or recognition. Batman has no
powers to make fighting evil easier, he is just a normal person that goes out and fights evil. Courage
is the one power that he has that

Batman Monologue

  • 1. Batman Monologue "See I'm not a monster...I'm just ahead of the curve". After giving Batman a monologue about how Gotham City will eventually betray him, the psychotic Joker tells him how he knows this will happen. This one quote, from my favorite movie (The Dark Knight), has changed my outlook on life and its shape as a whole. Normally, it wouldn't be the best idea to gain inspiration from perhaps the most notorious fictional villain in history, but this quote, in particular, has a much deeper meaning than shallow self–validation. To fully understand the quote, the context must first be understood. The Joker's elaborate plan to cause chaos in Gotham City involves getting caught by police, interrogated by Batman, and then subsequently blowing up the station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I took 7 weighted classes, something that had never been done before in our school's history, believing that I could easily handle it. The first week of the semester proved that I could not handle it. I was getting no sleep, failing my first tests, and my AP Literature teacher even asked me if she should talk to my counselor about reducing my courseload. Of course, I declined. The same stress (albeit a lot less) was there for everyone. Junior year of high school is a killer, from much harder classes to SAT prep and an increased number of AP tests academically to prom and sports socially. The vast majority of students at my high school dealt with this stress one way: drugs. My friends were no exception. I did not succumb, my parents instilled better values in me. So instead, I put my head down and worked, using other stress relievers to ensure that I didn't kill myself. I partied (sober), hung out with my girlfriend, watched sports, and chilled with my friends whenever they weren't on drugs. I tried convincing them out of drugs, but they didn't listen. That's when I realized the second truth – that everyone believed what they were doing was right, just like the Joker did. The Joker believed he was ridding Gotham City of its filth (politicians and police), and my friends believed they were doing what they needed to do to stay alive, after all, they needed to cope with pressure from their parents and peers academically, pressure socially, and pressure athletically. I did not agree, but I understood that they needed drugs, otherwise they would get withdrawals and fail school (this happened one week and it was really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. How Is Batman Changing Have you ever had a TV show that you loved so much but it was ruined thanks to new versions of it? Well Batman Begins by Christopher Nolan is the complete opposite of this. Christopher Nolan toke the character of Batman and changed it to transform it into a new character by changing the story, changing his character a bit and changing the characters that are in the story. Changing all of this made the story fresh and alot more interesting. In the original batman the story started in November 1939's "Detective" #33 a mugger accosted Thomas Wayne, his wife and son while they were walking home from a movie. He demands Mrs. Wayne's necklace, Thomas intervenes and is shot; and when Mrs. Wayne calls for help, the mugger shoots her too. The mugger then leaves the grieving boy alone with his parents bodies under the now–iconic streetlight. A caption describes his eyes "wide with terror and shock as the horrible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way he is different is Batman seems to be more fearless in the comics because he openly went up to the city officials and said none of you are safe. The only way the story is same is because the way the past is shown is the same, how Batman calls the Bats and at the end it talks about the joker. There are so many ways that they are different in because in the movie Batman fights Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, there is Rachel in the movies Lucius Fox is in the Movies shaping him, with the Scene of Bruce's dad telling him why do we fall. it shows and it shows him training in Asia learning everything. In the Comic it shows him fighting the swat team saving Gordons baby and Catwoman is only in the book and later appears in the movies. The worlds are actually similar because there is a lot of crime and bad things happening in Gotham and the only way I see how its different is that it doesnt have the rails bruces dad built to unite the ... • 3. Batman As A Hero GOTHAM– A man with a suit looking similar to a bat stands on the top of a building overlooking the city that he has protect for the last few years. This man to all of those who live in Gotham is known as the Batman. He has kept the streets of Gotham safe from the evil that our fair city possesses. From the elite people of Gotham to those in the Narrows, we give thanks to our beloved caped crusader for all his work for Gotham. There are those who believe that Batman is a another vigilante wearing a mask. Even Commissioner James Gordon many years ago stated these words about the caped crusader " He's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Dark Knight." Our commissioner's words never stopped the Batman in his fight against the forces of evil, nor the hope of the people of Gotham for a better city. "You either die a hero... or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." These words were once state by Gotham's former district attorney Harvey Dent is commonly known now as Two–Face. Many who take these words to heart have the same question that plague the people of Gotham. What has the Batman done for our city? What is the legacy that he is leaving us with? Many don't know the reason behind the caped crusader fights against the forces of evil, he has more than he had to trying to make the streets of Gotham safe for the ... • 4. Batman High Angles In the film The Dark Knight Rises, Batman states that he 'is whatever Gotham needs him to be.' He can either be a hero or an outlaw to the people of his city. Batman is a tortured soul and is very aware that it is not right to uphold the law by breaking it. He is not convinced that his violence is justified by locking up the villains. Real world people are more like Batman in the sense that the right thing to do is obvious but sometimes not. One often judges situations for the best result and sometimes the answer collides with their morals. Nobody is completely good or bad. The most unassuming people can go through with appalling acts if placed in the wrong situation, or react with selflessness and kindness. Batman can be seen as morally ambiguous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The darkness sets the mood of the film. Batman's iconic suit was created by Lucius Fox, which contains armor for protection. His cowl acts as a protective helmet and he has retractive blades on his gauntlets. The bat emblem on his chest is considerably smaller than those used in previous films and there is a concealed cape which sits near his shoulder blades, helping him glide through the city effortlessly. His cowl allows him to spy on his surroundings with infrared vision, ultraviolet vision and night vision, and one ear of his cowl contains a device which allows him to use echolocation to triangulate objects or people via cell phones. He carries gadgets such as the Batarang and grapple gun in his utility belt. Special effects such as the explosions, the Batmobile colliding with the rubbish truck and Batman jumping off a building and gliding through the city give the film a more realistic ... • 5. The Batman And Nihilism In the Dark Knight, the Joker did not prevail in showing that the city of Gotham was Nihilistic. The practice of Nihilism is that of showing how the world has no morals and or beliefs that matter or are true. The Joker, an active Nihilist, or one that takes action upon his feelings, is looking to prove that nothing matter in the city of Gotham. He puts the people of Gotham through many dilemmas and situations in which the Joker was looking forwards to prove and show accuracy of his beliefs. The city of Gotham, the Gotham City Police Department or (GCPD), and Batman succeed and prevail, not falling back on their morals which include Batman's one rule, which he does not break, which is "(Batman) never kill(s)." Overall, three situations that show the Joker's defeat are the ferryboat situation, Batman not killing the Joker, and Harvey Dent becoming Two–Face in which Harvey Dent "dies a hero, or lives long enough to see himself become the villain." One of the Joker's great scenes in which he tries to put Batman to the test is in the many and countless situations in which the Joker tries to get Batman to kill him. The Joker almost gets Batman to kill him many times such as in the interrogation room, on the street when Batman is on the motorcycle, when the Joker is hanging upside down from Batman's hand off of a ledge of a building, etc. Batman's one rule is that he will not kill anyone, as seen in the rest of the movie. • 6. Vigilantism In Batman Journal 03 – Vigilantism When I hear the word vigilante, there's one thing that comes to mind: Batman. From the time I was a little girl watching the Batman movies, I have always supported the idea of a vigilante. To me, seeing Batman deliver justice on criminals had always been very exciting. As I grow older and wiser I've developed more of an understanding of the corruption that does destroy our justice system which makes me support vigilantism even more. Though real life isn't quite as dramatic as the Batman movies, I like the idea of a masked vigilante protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Vigilantes are the heroes that every community needs to swiftly deal out justice. Traditionally, there will always be two sides to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He had the chance to save her but he couldn't. It was too dark and he could not see but only hear the screams of his wife being beaten to her last breath. This fueled his fear of the dark. Over the course of 4 months he mourned and turned his attention to becoming a vigilante. He knew he had to be more than the Batman and live by his own code. The reason his wife was killed is because Batman did not rid of them for good. I'm sure everyone remembers Batman The Animated Series. It stands as arguably one of the best cartoons ever aired with solid plot lines that weren't so dumbed down for five year olds that adults found them annoying (I'm looking at you Teen Titans Go). One of the new characters created just for the animated series was Officer Renee Montoya, the young idealistic partner of the cranky veteran Harvey Bullock. • 11. Batman Begins How do you follow up the best superhero movie ever? Christopher Nolan presented that challenge to himself when he decided to make a sequel to Batman Begins. Usually, sequels do not surpass the original, and whatever followed Batman Begins seemed poised to fail compared to its predecessor. To answer the opening question, you make The Dark Knight, a movie that validated the superhero genre as a real, serious category and showed that sequels can outshine the original. This popularity has led to movies, tv shows, video games and countless forms of memorabilia being produced so fans could get their fair share of the caped crusader. Batman is one of the world's most popular anti–hero franchises because many of the stories are relatable, the villains are memorable and Bruce Wayne has an intriguing back story. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Batman debatably has the most intriguing group of villains of any superhero franchise. The most well–known and popular villain of any superhero franchise is the Joker, the most commonly believed origin story of the Joker is that he was driven insane after falling into a tank of chemical waste which bleached his skin, made his hair green and turned his lips bright red. The Joker is considered the ultimate adversary for Batman because he is the opposite of Batman in both appearance and personality. His sadistic humor coupled with his psychopathic tendencies have made him a very entertaining supervillain in movies, comic books and even in video games. Catwoman is also one of the more recognizable characters in the Batman franchise. She is an interesting character, shown as a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who was unable to avoid a life of crime because she grew up on the streets. Also it often isn't clear if she is a villain or a hero due to her shifting allegiances, perhaps her character was designed like this to discourage the pre–existing notion that heroes only did good things and villains always did evil things. Batman Comic Form Through an analysis of both the comic and animated version of Batman: Year One, the variations in narrative structure of each type showcases the creative choices that moving image media and the comic form afford. When compared with one another, the variation in dialogue and shot structure create two different story worlds that vary in focus, with the comic book emphasizing Batman and his role in the scene and the moving image media focusing on Commissioner Gillian and the Gotham elite. Both mediums construct this focus with the use of dialogue and shot scale. With Batwoman being initially created to set her partner's sexuality record straight, they take off to work together. Their existence in Gotham as Batman and Batwoman, albeit being illegal, is much need by the residents who suffer in the hands of the highly skilled criminals – such as the Joker – who have mastered their techniques. Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent superhero with her own ways and rulebooks. Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do – he simply watched as his parents' bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy's mind. He could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by fighting criminals. Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman's painful sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. • 18. Batman Films Vs. Batman Batman is one of the most well–known superheroes in the world. Since his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, he seems to have just gotten more famous even after over 75 years. However, the Batman that audiences see now is not the same Batman that first appeared in 1939. Batman had a solid moral compass and could very clearly see the line between right and wrong. In most of the early films and serials, he is cheesy to a point where it becomes hard to watch. Later in the film, Batman's origin story is shown and young Bruce Wayne does witness the deaths of his parents. This film is dark visually because Gotham is dark and dimly lit. That makes the film seem more menacing. There is far more crime in 1989 Gotham than there was in 1966 Gotham, and the criminals actually appear threatening. They look rough and brandish weapons, instead of just fist–fighting. As in most Batman films, Joker adds some danger. Jack Nicholson's portrayal of Joker definitely makes Joker seem crazier and more of a loose cannon. Jack Nicholson played crazy Jack Torrance in The Shining (1980) only nine years before playing Joker in Batman. It could be argued that audiences were so scared of his insane mannerisms as Torrance that their fear carried over when watching him as Joker in Batman. Nicholson does portray Joker as being actually crazy and unpredictable, which keeps the audience on their toes. Nicholson has crazy eyes and does not seem to be someone who is warm and cozy, in fact, he seems the opposite. This is demonstrated throughout the world of superheroes, but it is not as prominently demonstrated as in The Batman. Batman presents himself as a hero, while he is only an over imaginative vigilante. He is more a vigilante than a hero since he has the ability to stop crime, but doesn't, he only does deeds for his own benefit, and he helps the law but isn't part of it. These are only a few ways Batman is a vigilante instead of a hero. These are mainly based on the idea of him trying to right his own past. He prances about "protecting" the city of Gotham but doesn't stop the crimes that are happening every day, which include robberies, home invasions, along with car thefts. People might vocalize that a single person could not stop every crime, while this is the case, Batman does not show even the slightest mindset to stop even one petty crime. The only people he tries to stop are super villains, which were once petty robbers turned to mass murders. Batman Origin Although the Batman: Year one was released almost thirty years ago, it was one of the most popular, best known origins in popular culture because of its true character and raw chain of events: a young boy becomes scarred for life after he sees his family murdered in a dark alley by a quarrelsome mugger simply by chance. After years of training to be the greatest crime–fighter in the world evolves the Batman, one of the greatest superheroes of all time and protector of Gotham City. Although there was one clear provenance when the original graphic novel was released, after two huge blockbuster movies, almost half a dozen animated series, a greatly popular video game, and multiple other comic book interpretations, that origin has been morphed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mistake was not accounting for the impact first person narration had over placing the characters and narrative action within their proper context in the original comic. This mistake is vividly apparent in a scene where Batman is on one of his first adventures to fight crime in his costume where he attacks three teenagers that are in the middle of robbing an apartment. The scene does not have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost throwing one of teens off a fire escape then saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats them and saves the other boy he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being a "lucky amateur". The scene in the original comic is much more different as Wayne's emotions, feelings, observations, the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are portrayed through Wayne's first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration, all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the ... • 37. Batman And Greek Mythology Myths are everlasting stories that have been passed on for decades. Usually, these stories contain special significance depending on culture and religion. Although there are several types of mythology, Greek mythology is one of the most popular. It was created by the ancient Greeks to serve as a basis for their religious beliefs and cultural practices. Greek myths consist of gods and goddesses, which obtain unique superpowers that permit them to control nature in all of its forms. Furthermore, ancient mythology has inspired contemporary culture by linking similar characteristics to new characters and improved stories. Modern day society has reimagined mythology through superheroes that save the world from villains and crime. Some superheroes have special powers either from birth or from scientific experiments, while others become heroes by training and with the help of modern technology; however, these modifications do not disregard the fact that modern folklore developed from ancient tales. For instance, Batman is the modern interpretation of Achilles because they are an archetype, share several characteristics, and demonstrate the evolution of mythology. To start off, Batman is a modernized version of Achilles. In other words, the Batman character serves as an archetype of Greek mythological hero, Achilles. According to Literary Devices, "An archetype, also known as a universal symbol, maybe a character, a theme, a symbol, or even a setting. Many literary critics are of ... • 38. Characteristics Of Batman Batman a true American hero There are numerous things that can construct an American hero in today's society, maybe they are really strong, intelligent or they are just a tremendous role model plenty of people believe that heroes require superpowers in order to be a true superhero, but not necessarily heroes could occasionally just be an ordinary everyday person like a firefighter, policeman, EMT or someone like a veteran or maybe even for some people their hero just might be their mother, father, aunt, uncle or grandparents. Batman symbolizes American heroism because he is courageous, intelligente and he has both physical and mental strength. The first reason Batman shows that he is an American hero is because he shows that he is courageous. For example Batman shows he is courageous when he allows the Joker to handcuff him and put him into a shark tank and then at that point he is forced to wrestle a shark. According to a video published about three years ago by DC comics on youtube.com narrated by Tiffany and Blair says "In Batman #251 that was published in 1973 Batman shows he is courageous because he shows no fear to the joker and the shark" this shows he is courageous since he is ... • 39. The Joker : The Batman Vs. Batman "We look up at the same stars, and see such different things," George R.R Martin. This quote in addition to courage creates a whole new world to me. It made me think about how many different ways courage can be portrayed. Along with the way the person's personality might change that perspective even more. As we had the class discussion on the summer reading books and made connections to courage, some thoughts went through my head. I wondered if the people around me thought the same things about courage. One kid brought up Hitler and that people think that Hitler was courageous for what he did. I started to consider heroes and villains, like Batman and The Joker. Their perspective might be that The Joker is more courageous than Batman. I realized that all this had to do with people's perspectives. Let's look at the example above. I find Batman to have more courage than The Joker. Due to the danger that he puts himself in to protect people and to stop The Joker. On the other hand some people might support the fact that The Joker is more courageous, because he keeps trying even though he doesn't succeed. I find trying to dominate the world uncourageous, in fact it looks like he is just trying to get recognition and is looking for attention. When Batman goes in to stop his plan, he isn't looking for attention or recognition. Batman has no powers to make fighting evil easier, he is just a normal person that goes out and fights evil. Courage is the one power that he has that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
