Who is an employee?
Who is an employee? Contd.
An employee is anyone who has agreed to be employed,
under a contract of service, to work for some form of
payment. This can include wages, salary, commission and
rates.
An individual who works part-time or full-time under a
contract of employment, whether oral or written, express or
implied, and has recognized rights and duties.
Types of employee
 Engaged
 Not-Engaged
 Actively Disengaged

Engaged employees work with passion and feel
a profound connection to their company. They
drive innovation and move the organization
forward
Not-Engaged Employees are essentially
“Checked out.” They are sleepwalking through
their work day, putting time but not enough
energy or passion into their work
Actively Disengaged employees are not just
unhappy at work; they are busy acting out their
unhappiness. Every day, these workers
undermine what their engaged coworkers
accomplish
Your role as an employee
 Work towards achieving your individual goals, which help the organization
reach its objectives.
 Take responsibility for your own professional and career development.
 Complete any task assigned to you.
 Be open to feedback and accept correction.
 Seek support from your manager, colleagues.
 Keep a record of your performance achievements, successes and
challenges.

1. AMBITIOUS: always want to improve and they have big goals
2. AUTONOMOUS: ability to carry out task with little or no supervision
3. HUMBLE: they stay grounded and not arrogant
4. PASSIONATE: they have incredible amount of passion for what they are doing
5. CONFIDENT: they take risk because they believe in themselves
6. HONEST: always speak the truth, nobody likes a liar
7. CREATIVE: they ask unexpected questions
8. RELIABLE: you can always count on them no matter what
9. EAGER: eager and hungry, always want to learn new skills
10.POSTIVE: positive attitude, especially when times are tough
