2. Advanced Portfolio Evaluation
Now that you have completed the research, planning and
production stages, you need to focus on your evaluation.
Your evaluation must be a distinct part of your blog and make use
of appropriate technology in its presentation.
It must also clearly reference examples, material and information
from your research, planning and production.
Finally, it must be thoughtful, reflective and evaluative.
There are 4 questions to answer:

3. Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
This is really straight-forward:
Your research has shown you what’s typical of (or
conventions of) music videos, digipaks and magazine
advertisements . With specific examples explain the ways
you reflected these conventions, played about with them or
went against them.
Remember: it’s quite possible to use, develop
and challenge conventions within one text.

4. Question 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary
texts?
You produced a promotional package for a new album that includes
a music video (main product), a digipak for a CD and DVD and a
magazine advertisement (ancillary texts).
How effectively do they:
Relate to each other?
Sell the album?
Reinforce the band’s/performer’s image?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
You carried out audience research at the start of the project, should
have got feedback throughout the production process and be
getting feedback on the completed work through social networking
sites.
How did that feedback help you make your three artefacts
better?
How useful was the feedback in general (methods,
comments, how you used it)?

How did you use media technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation stages?
Think about all the media technologies you have used in your
project since September:
Blogging sites
Social networking sites
Production software
Hardware
What did you use them for, but more importantly, how did you use
them effectively?
