3. App Analysis
When developing my app logo,
I looked back at the analysis I’d
done previously. From this
research, I knew that the app
needed to be simple, not
overwhelmed with loads of
colours (just refined to no more
than 4 or 5) and perhaps
slightly abstract in its design.
Some of the following examples
are what I took inspiration and
guidance from. The Fish game
- due to it’s basic contrasting
colours, a 2D Pool Game -
because of the simple nature of
the logo, and The Pinball Game
- because design stands out as
slightly unusual.
4. 5 Key Tips for Great Icons
5. Designs should be
drawn simply, with a style
suitable for
a young audience
4. A few well selected
colours will look better than
lots of colours.
3. Avoid using any
words. It looks messy.
1. Keep it simple.
Don’t over complicate
the design.
2. Use complementary
colours.
5. App Development
The logo came
together from several
separate pieces. The
cityscape was
created first, and
then added to the
cup.
The logo was
adjusted and edited
in size and type style
until it looked clean
and bold on the front
of the cup.
8. Development of Shirt designs.
For my first t-shirt design, I took some of the key artwork from the Coffee Run logo, and selected the
cityscape part of the design. In the game, the character experiences a daytime and nighttime version
of the level - as the surroundings change in colour by the time you hit halfway. I wanted to use this
feature on the t-shirts. The front of the shirt shows the daytime art for the game, but the back shows
the cityscape wrapping around to the nighttime colouring. This design is a subtle reference to Coffee
Run, while still displaying a desirable trendy shirt for casual gamers of Coffee Run.
9. Development of Shirt designs.
For my second t-shirt design, I
wanted to create a shirt that was
cultural and relevant to the
gamers of coffee run. Obey’s
Andre the Giant poster became
a massively iconic image and
this popularity spawned spoofs
of his design. Breaking Bad,
Angry Birds, and Star Wars
have all had versions of the
Obey design.
Creating a Coffee Run shirt
influenced by the Obey design is
hopefully a way to get our game
to the wider audience and on the
chests of our casual gamers.
11. Breakdown of Web Banners
After seeing a full set of Titanfall (the game which comes
as standard with a new Xbox One) web banners, it was
clear to me that the key to good web banners is that they
need to be consistent. Although each design is unique,
they all use the same font, artwork, logos, and
promotional information. The one thing that changes, is
the composition of the collection of assets. In my web
banners, I made sure that I was using the same artwork,
the same background, the same font, and the text. I
simply changed the positioning of all the pieces. This
involved some resizing and adjustments, so that the
designs fit the required banner dimensions.
13. Feedback on designs
All feedback was given
from the development team
of Coffee Run.
The end products are a
result of any feedback
given along the
development stage.
