2. Genre
The genre of my opening scene is romantic
comedies. I am a huge fan of the genre and
thought it would be something different that I
could film. The genre also is directed at a person
like me as a target audience, therefore I can help
to understand the things a target audience
would want from the genre.
3. My Idea
I will be filming in Bristol as romantic comedies are normally set in
a urban area, and I think that city has a lot of different places to
film. Additionally, Bristol is a British city and I would like my
opening scene to really represent the British culture.
My idea for the opening scene is to have a young woman who has
woken up late for work and is running late.
The reasoning behind this idea is to have a young women who
identifies with the target audience. A generic convention is to
have the movie revolving around the main women of the story.
Also many British romantic comedies has a scene where one of
the characters is getting ready.
The reason why I’ve decided to have the woman running late is
because it is out of her normal routine which foreshadows that
something is going to happen that different to her normal life.
4. My Inspiration
My inspiration for my opening
scene is the beginning scene of Four Weddings
and a Funeral. The scene where two characters
are late for something very important. The
scene is very comical and iconic within the
movie world.
