Street Crime And Violence In The United States
Street crime and young violence have become a popular topic in the media. Since the shooting of
unarmed African American male by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri many cities with high
crime rates increased drastically. Many young adults fear the police and alter their lives to fight the
police or are forced into lives of crimes due to the fact they are unable to find a decent job after
incarceration. Although, over the years street crimes have decreased youth violence remains on the
rise. In this essay, I will cover various topics that explain why youth violence and street crime are
linked together and the reasons why youth crime and street violence will never fade completely
away.
Youth violence is a major part in today's society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weapon of choice is a handgun, machine guns or an assault rifle. According to Dan Diamond of
Forbes, there are more young Americans dying from gun than they are dying from cars. That's a
pretty large number due to the fact at least one young person dies every six hours from a car
accident. In America there are almost 32,000 young adults are related to the killing by a gun per
year. It is just not youth on youth violence that is affected by these street crimes but innocent victims
are often victims of this outrageous youth violence. Gun violence has always been an issue in
America in the early 1990's gun violence was at an all time high but with the crack down of the drug
trade many guns were seized. Now all of a sudden many illegal guns are roams the streets due to
people purchasing legal weapons and selling them on the street for double the

Crime Problem In The United States
Crime is a major problem in the United States. It is happening to often than it should. Everyday
there is always a crime story–taking place in the news or in the daily newspaper. It is difficult for
individuals to not be drawn to negativity happening in their community. There are many different
ideas on how to solve the crime problems that are happening in our country. First we need to have
stricter punishment and stick to it for all criminals. Many of the criminals are getting off with little
to no punishment, which sometimes they become repeat offenders. With some criminals having
good behavior while serving time, the justice system are allowing them be released early from
confinement and out on parole. This is unacceptable. If they committed

Crime in the United States
The United States is one of the most developed countries in the world, if not the most developed, yet
the U.S. has the largest prison population in the entire world by far. For most of my life I have
always believed that the American justice system worked. When people do wrong they need to be
punished and pay for their crimes. That is what our justice system is here for so how could is
possibly go wrong? Unfortunetly it is not as simple as it sounds and all it takes is a little research to
discover why. Before researching the U.S. criminal justice system, I would never have considered
the fact that the U.S. has the worst prison population in the world. The more I reasearched, the more
I realized that my own belief's of the justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reality of our prisons is nearly the opposite thought, with prisoners being tortured and beat
daily. A documentary on the horrors of American prison's titled, Torture: America's Brutal Prisons,
details how badly prisoners are treated in graphic detail. The documentary shows how prison
beatings happen more often than we think and how some are even fatal. This is generally not
because of bad inmates, but because these prisoners are no longer treated like human beings. When
they are finally released, most of them will be in worse condition mentally and physically than when
they were first sent to prison. As a result, they are more likely to commit other crimes and be sent
right back to prison. American prisons themselves are considered violent and horribly run. The
problem is easy to spot, but solutions are seemingly impossible to implement. Andrew Cohen, of
www.theweek.com, stated, "It's fairly easy to get judges to find unconstitutional conditions inside
our prisons. The hard part is getting government to do anything about it." Cohen, goes on to state
that, even after a lawsuit and a deal to improve the abusive and neglectful conditions at a juvenile
center, virtually no progress has been made for over two years. Reform advocates were forced to go
back to court over the county official's lack of action on the matter. This just goes to show

Crime And Crime Of The United States
Recent surveys have indicated that crime rate in the United States is on the rise. Crime in the U.S. is
classified into property crime and violent crime. These criminal activities have a considerable
impact on a state's social and economic growth and development. Different states in the U.S. have
developed different strategies to combat crime, which continues to transform in form and frequency.
A number of policies, options, and approaches to crime control exist. This report explores some of
the policies, options, and approaches that could be used by Florida to enhance crime control. While
Florida is already utilizing some of the strategies explored in this report, some of these strategies do

Violent crime covers four categories of offenses: robbery, forcible rape, aggravated assault, murder
and non–negligent manslaughter. Property crime on the other hand comprises four classes of
offences namely: arson, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and larceny (Bioshop and Frazier, 2006).
Florida is one of the states in the U.S. that consistently encounters social, environmental, economic,
and security challenges. This is attributed to the influx of immigrants into the State. The current
trends of developments being witnessed in Florida have come with several problems, with insecurity
being a major concern. For example, the crime rate in the State of Florida continues to be major
concern for both the Floridians and those visiting the State. In 2010 for instance, the Bureau of
Justice reported that Florida was the second State in the U.S. with the highest Crime Index (FJJAB,
2011). Similarly, Florida is currently the state with the highest incidence of violent crime in the U.S.
Furthermore, it is ranked the third in vehicle theft, second highest for property crimes, and first in
number of aggravated assaults (Bioshop and Frazier, 2006). Drug trafficking is another form of
crime that continues to affect Florida. In terms of prison population, Florida has the largest prison
population in the U.S, with most prisons and detention facilities suffering from extreme strain on
their resources (FJJAB, 2011). The high crime rate in Florida continues to negatively

The three sources for crime data in the United States are known as the Uniform crime report, the
National incident based reporting system, and the National Crime Victimization Survey. The
Uniform Crime report is a nationwide data system with data from over eighteen–thousand–two

How To Reduce Crime In The United States
Terrorism is very serious criminal offense affecting numerous countries in the world today. The
United States of America is not left out in this grave problem. In fact, it is one of the countries most
affected by terrorism. This could be attributed to the fact that the country has acquired several
enemies around the world. Several militia groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's
Branch in Libya (ISIL), Boko Haram, Hezbollah, and HAMAS, want revenge for perceived crimes
committed against them. Fortunately, the US has enough resources to apprehend some of those
suspected to be involved in terrorist organizations. The civilian court process is for a defendant is
very clear because the US constitution grants them rights and they must be given a fair hearing to
determine whether they are guilty of terroristic activities or not. Part A When an individual is caught

Hate Crimes
Recently, in a response to an increase in violence, the state of Wisconsin passes a law that enhances
the penalty for any offense committed against a victim where the crime is committed because of
hatred for the victim's race, sex, or religion. Prior to discussing whether or not this penalty
enhancement violates the civil jurisdiction given to the state from God; one must first provide the
foundation of the jurisdiction of the state from the biblical principles. First, Christ recognizes that
God has all authority "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of
God" Roman 13:1 (King James Online). In addition, Christ recognizes jurisdiction "and Jesus

Crime In The United States
One of the problems we face in the United States today is crime. Crime is an action or omission that
constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law. In the United
States, crime rates vary widely through out the years. Crime falls under two categories which
include violent crimes and property crimes. Violent crimes consist of four criminal offenses which
are murder and non–negligent man slaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Property crimes consist of burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson.
Crime rates vary wildly throughout the years in the United States. According to the FBI web site
"Crime in the United States 2015, reveals a 3.9 percent increase in the estimated number of violent
crimes and a 2.6 percent decrease in the estimated number of property crimes last year when
compared to 2014 data." An increase of 3.9 percent in violent crimes from 2014 to 2015 is very high
compared to a total estimate of 1,165,383 violent crimes that occurred nationwide in 2014 according
to the FBI website. It is scary to think that our nation rose 3.9 percent in the category of violent
crimes in a period of a year. Violent crimes consist of murder, non–negligent man slaughter, forcible

Crime Displacement And Diffusion Of The United States
Abstract
Crime displacement and diffusion is a major concern in the United States. Crime neither seem to be
increasing nor decrease throughout the years. Displacement brings more consequences and can
occur when a harm is produced by displacement crime before the intervention. There are three
theories that help explain why crime are committed, who are targeted and how to prevent from being
a potential target. Being aware of your surroundings is extremely important. Analyzing offenders,
victims and location can give ideas as to why crimes occurs. Giving displacement and diffusion
central attention should be the center to problem solving in criminal activities.

Rather than try to relocate crime in different areas, researchers have found that the reduction in
crime. A reduction in crime is observed that is not the target of the SCP initiative; this can be a
reduction in other types of crime, or a reduction in crime outside the area targeted. Clarke and
Weisburd (1994, p. 169) states:
"the spread of the beneficial influence of an intervention beyond the places which are directly
targeted, the individuals who are the subject of control, the crimes which are the focus of
intervention or the time periods in which an intervention is brought" (Clarke).
Malign displacement reveals efforts to reduce burglary, but negatively increase chances of robberies
and assault. Benign displacement helps benefit society by have a form of new crime tactics by
offenders that offers less serious crimes and less danger to potential victims. Deterrence plays a
major role; if there are know offenders who are being punished for the crimes committed, it will
likely keep others from copying the same offense and thus lowering crime rates.
RELATION TO CRIME PREVENTION
Displacement and diffusion of benefits help explain why crimes are being committed. There are
many example as to how to deter crime in geographical area. They help to show that there are

Protection Of Hate Crimes In The United States
Most people in the United States today are familiar with the idea of hate crimes, and there are. Of
course, those who have been subjected to them. Simply put, a hate crime is determined to be, "... a
traditional offense like murder, arson, or vandalism with an added element of bias." (Federal Bureau
of Investigation, 2017) These prejudicially–based crimes target victims who belong to, or
increasingly, are perceived to belong to, a particular group of people, such a race; a religious
affiliation; gender identity; and sexual orientation. While legislation in this area does its best to
balance the protection of victimized groups and persons, the law must also consider the rights and
protections of the victimizer, as determined by the Fourteenth Amendment.

Religion is big here because any U.S. citizen has the freedom of religion however Hate crimes occur
against people who have choose a specific religion over another, not only this they also occur inside
many religion who have had a way of life that they always follow. One issue that is being addressed
nationwide is homosexuality in churches and how church leaders and the congregation feel about it.
Incidents preventing homosexuals to get married in Christian churches have been occurring for a
while now and this causes preacher to address it in their sermons until an act was passed that
prevented preacher from talking negatively about homosexuals. The Local Law Enforcement Hate
Crimes Prevention Act didn't allow pastor to talk negatively about homosexuals one claimed raised

prosecuted for preaching against sexual relations outside of marriage if someone in the congregation

sexual orientation were reported. Even with the act supporters will not let it pass because they are

Preventing Violent Crimes In The United States
Violent crimes are unfortunately a routine occurrence among our present society. Violent crimes are
those in which an offender uses and/or threatens to use a weapon in order to accomplish their
crimes. A violent crime occurs in the United States every 27 seconds (Karmen 78). Violent crimes
can end fatally if the offender feels threatened. Many behaviors can be practiced in order to
successfully reduce the likelihood of these violent crimes from occurring.
1. The most fatal violent crime is the crime of murder. Murder can occur in many forms: first degree
murder, second degree murder, serial murder, spree murder, and mass murder to name a few. The
major difference between first and second degree murder includes an offender who commits first
degree murder has ultimately planned the murder, while second degree murder is ultimately
spontaneous. Additionally, serial murder includes killings of 3 or more people within separate
emotional events. On the other hand, spree murder and mass murder are singular emotional events
however spree murder is the killing of multiple people in a number of locations while mass murder
is the killing of multiple people in one singular location. Factors that may increase the chance of a
person becoming a victim includes the victim being male (Davis, Lurigio, and Herman, 135). Living
in the United States in general can greatly increase a person's chance of becoming a murder victim

Violent criminal acts are the major issue for many of Americans making them fearful of their

the rise in violent crimes that is so drastically increasing. The United States ranks in the top five in
the world for violent thefts/robberies as well as a significant rise in juvenile crime. These crime
statistics are a way to help us measure crime in different societies by comparison in an effort to
reform criminal justice policies. What is considered a crime in one country is not always considered
a crime in another. This seems as though it would be an issue when looking at statistics of different
countries or even state to state so crimes need to be classified into groups. Crime trends are a danger

Human trafficking has become one of the biggest criminal enterprises concerning a large quantity of
human beings, large amounts of money paid to illegal smugglers, and a mass amount of innocent
lives lost. Secretary of State John Kerry states that "we find perhaps no greater threat to human
dignity, no greater assault on basic freedom, than the evil of human trafficking" (As cited in

of leaving their less desirable homeland for a more hopeful place to live. Because immigration is
increasing many countries fear that the growth will lead to a higher probability of terrorist activity.
Another major reason why countries are scared of illegal immigration growth is because they fear
that terrorist organizations will penetrate their terrorist members into the population. There have
been numerous accounts of illegal immigrants that have been associated with terrorists groups
(Adler, 2013). Every year the United State releases a Trafficking in Persons report. The report shows
that human trafficking is a major problem in many areas of the world and there isn't a government in

is human trafficking a major issue because of its fear of terrorism but it's also a political issue as

The Influence Of Crime In The United States
According to Siegel and Worrall (2014), there are various factors that criminologists believe affect
the crime trend in the United States. Most of these factors are socioeconomic and demographic.
One's age, mental health and the ability to seek and receive treatment for mental health issues, the
ability and ease of getting a gun, or even drug use are all possible factors that influence the crime
rate in the United States. One must also though consider that when the economy is on the brink of
collapse, crime can go up; however, when the economy is succeeding, crime rate will go down.
What is crime like in the United States? According to the FBI, the United States has been seeing a
pretty sharp decrease in the violent crime rate since 2009.

He argued that delinquency occurs when lower–class youth become frustrated because they lack the
means for achieving their personal goals (Larry J. Siegel, 2005) this is most likely to occur in large
cities. For example, data from the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports[5] showed that nearly 1
in 4 homicides by juveniles occurred in eight counties. The major cities in these counties (beginning
with the city in the county with the greatest number of identified juvenile homicide offenders) are
Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Baltimore, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Dallas. As these
counties contain just 12% of the U.S. population, it is clear that homicide by juveniles is
concentrated in a small portion of the U.S. geographic area. Theorists from this perspective look at
the environment and sub–culture that a juvenile resides in. This perspective sees delinquency as a
function of the surroundings or environment that a juvenile lives in. The Strain theory has been
mainly applied to juvenile delinquency among lower–class boys. The central idea is that these young
people share the value of success with the larger culture, but because of inadequate socialization,
they are unable to effectively compete. This produces strain, which they seek to resolve. The Strain
theory has its limitations however. It does not explain suburban delinquency for example. The
Cultural Deviance theory would state that juvenile

Only when this social bond is weakened is crime likely to occur. He contended that this social bond
has four elements; Attachment, commitment, involvement and beliefs (Fuller 2006)." In the
attachment, when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they are less
likely to be involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper guidance, lack
of concern for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who show concern for
them. Often it becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they seek approval from.
This becomes their attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher authority, a person to
which they look up too, to whom they want to become. The level of commitment involves how far
one will go to prove themselves. One is committed to a gang, to which they consider all members
family. "People who have money, property, and good reputations are committed to the social system
that allowed them the opportunities for that success (Fuller 2006)." In a gang, being a member of a
respected gang, means that they too will have respect by those outside of the gang, and will often be
in fear of your presence. As in the MS–13, individuals who are quite familiar with this particular

In the modern world, crime rates are becoming increasingly out of proportions. Even though crime
rates are currently on the decline, one crime represents one too many. Proponents against crime are
gradually becoming strict towards a culprit of crime including the reenactment of the death penalty,
a deterrent against crime, in hopes to reduce crime rates. Although people who commit serious
crimes, such as homicide, deserves a harsh punishment, death penalties are taking the concept of

categories of crime: minor and serious. Lesser charges, such as disorderly conduct, may only result
in misdemeanor charges or a citation. Offenders of a lesser charge could end up paying a small
monetary fine or serve a short jail sentence. More serious crimes, like drug crimes, can result in
felony charges. When faced with a felony charge, offenders could pay a higher monetary fine or
serve a longer prison sentence. Repeat offenders could face even harsher penalties and simple
misdemeanor charges could increase to a felony. (Legal

Organized Crime In The United States
The organized crime groups that I am most familiar with include terrorist groups, gangs, and mafias.
As a result of living in a city in Florida, I have heard more about gangs compared to when I used to
live in a rural town in Vermont. I've always heard about gang violence and the crime they commit,
such as theft and murder ("Tampa Bay gangs," n.d.). I also know that gangs can be represented by
different colors, markings, and often members will have tattoos of the gang logo ("Tampa Bay
gangs," n.d.). Al Qaeda and ISIS are the two terrorist groups I have heard the most about because of
how often the groups are committed crimes that are making national headlines. From the 9/11
terrorist attacks to the recent attach on Paris, terrorist groups are constantly committing crime and
violence against society (Mallory, 2012). Lastly, I am not too familiar with the names of various
mafias, I have only heard about the different types of crime they commit. ... Show more content on

This type of crime can affect many people, whether the target is a business or random individuals on
the street falling victim to organized crime (Mallory, 2012). For example, the bombings at the
Boston Marathon took a toll on thousands of innocent people who believed they were safe, but were
not. Now, society has become more cautious because of how much organized crime occurs in the
United States (Mallory, 2012). Organized crime can impact my daily life because I could easily
become a victim, just as anyone else could (Mallory, 2012). I could have my car stolen or broken
into by a gang member or be at a large event where a terrorist attack could happen, you just never
know (Mallory, 2012). It's important to be aware of the possibilities of becoming a victim of
organized crime and how to protect yourself from various crimes (Mallory,

The Crimes And Crimes Of The United States
In class essay #1
Nowadays, murders, rapists and other heinous crimes can be committed by anyone. A fourteen–
year–old teenager murders someone or does a massacre in school can be often seen from the
headline news of newspaper. However, these youth criminals may have much less severe
punishment than adults may have who have done the same crime. A criminal is a criminal that must
be punished as no difference between adult and youths; especially, the crimes are categorized under
murder and rape. A bullet wound just hurt as much when a child as fires the gun as when an adult
fires the gun. Therefore, regardless to age, the youths who commit heinous crimes like murder and
rape should be charged as adults in a way of the punishment they deserve the same. The issue has
been a controversial one for a long time. The two justice systems, juvenile court and adult court
have been long established for decades. Both involve people accused of crimes with the basic
individual rights in the court. According to Pacific Juvenile Defender Center, it stated, "Youth may
be held under juvenile court jurisdiction from age 12 until age 21, or until age 25 if he or she is
committed to the California division of juvenile justice." The purpose of juvenile court system was
set up for those youths who are not as mature and cannot be held as adults. However, juvenile
crimes are becoming more often and heinous, it is necessary to focus more on punishment rather
than rehabilitation from the juvenile

The Causes Of Organized Crime In The United States
Organized crime, which gained infamous attention in America back in the 1920s during the
prohibition era, can be defined as systematical criminal activities that are controlled by a powerful
group for profit on a city–wide, interstate, and sometimes international scale. These types of
organizations engage in illegal activities as a way of generating income, or "black money." They
structure like a business, freely taking on violence and bribery to preserve their operations and
maintain internal and external control. Internal controls provide assurance regarding the
achievement of operational objectives (making sure they are effective, efficient, and accurate), while
external controls include different resources and contacts (suppliers). Everything they do, from
gambling to prostitution to dealing with drugs, goes against all government regulations. But what
forces them to commit crimes that are against government regulations and what do they gain
personally? How can we stop, or at least lessen the activities of these crimes?
Organized Crime is considered a major threat to the development and security of their country. They
gain profit through the evaluation of countries risks, benefits, and markets, and have taken to
multiple forms of corruption to invade political, economic, and social levels not only in their own
country, but in the world. Today, organized crime still poses as a major threat in American society
with their illegal operations, especially with the growth of

They are easier to incarcerate because they are not financially equipped to battle charges.
Meanwhile, all these steps have been taken by the government, but the country has not seen
improvement in drug crime or drug addiction. Reforms in prevention programs and increase in law
enforcement have all come at the cost of tax payers. The Drug Policy Alliance estimates that since
the War on Drugs started three decades ago Americans have paid about one trillion dollars toward
the campaign (Sledge 1). The only change the country has seen is a five–hundred percent increase in
the incarcerated population (Carroll 1). In reality, it has seemed that the US government has profited
off of the money of taxpayers by dealing with private prisons. Today nearly

Crime Data Sources in the United States
Crime Data Sources in the United States: The collection of crime data in the United States is carried
out through different approaches including Uniform Crime Reports and the National Incident–Based
Reporting System, which also act as the two primary sources of crime data for crime reporting. The
data obtained from these sources are used for research and documentation of crime status at the
county, state, and national levels. Notably, the National Incident–Based Reporting System emerged
as an advancement of the conventional summary of Uniform Crime Reports that were used to track
crime in the country. In addition, the Congress uses data from these sources together with those from
the National Crime Victimization Survey to guide policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Federal Bureau of Investigations then contracted for a phased review of UCR program through
the Bureau of Justice Statistics. These efforts culminated in the development of National Incident–
Based Reporting System that was based on recommendations on how to improve UCR. Based on
these recommendations, NIBRS was developed as a system that enables law enforcement agencies
to use an incident–based method for reporting crime and arrests (James & Council, 2008). Secondly,
this system was established to include or implement a quality assurance program since it is a
national UCR program. Finally, the system enables some law enforcement agencies to provide
incident–based data for all notable crimes and offenses while others provide a more restricted series
of incident–based data for some crimes. Similarities between UCR and NIBRS: As previously
mentioned, Uniform Crime Reports and the National Incident–Based Reporting System have certain
similarities, which contribute to their use as the primary sources of crime data in the United States.
Some of the major similarities between the two crime data sources include ... Differentiation of
Crime: Similar to Uniform Crime Reports, the National Incident–Based Reporting System
differentiates crime against persons and crimes against property. UCR reporting and NIBRS
reporting classify or distinguish crimes against persons and crimes against property in the same way
i.e. through a score. The process of distinguishing

Los Zetas: Crime In The United States
Transnational criminal organizations have been an ongoing problem for some time and the War on
Drugs has not really curtailed the amount of criminal drug activity flowing over to the United States.
Likewise, Mexican traffickers have gained more control of the U.S. drug supply than any other
ethnic criminal group (Chalk, 2011, 24). Specifically, Los Zetas, a paramilitary group, has become a
significant force in bringing drugs and associated crime across the Mexican/United States border
and extending their violent behavior into Texas and Arizona as well as a few other southwestern
states. There has also been reporting of a push into the Midwest more recently. Therefore, it is not a

The Zetas are ever present in the highest unemployment areas where they can effectively recruit
destitute individuals to do their bidding for several hundred dollars a moth (Grayson, 2014, 36).
Likewise, the youth identifies with the group culturally as the Zeta leadership encourages its
members to play new genre music which highlights cartels and the organizations weapons, money,
women and power (Grayson, 2014, 36). Additionally, there is also an air of importance associated
with being affiliated with the toughest outfit in town. Zetas use master manipulation, money, music,
prestige, and other tactics to blindly recruit the young. Sadly, Zetas also recruit American children

Cause Of Crime And Poverty In The United States
Poverty is defined as the condition of having little or no money, items, or means of support. In 2015,
there were 43.1 million people living in poverty in the United States alone. "Crime offers a way in
which impoverished people can obtain material goods that they cannot attain through legitimate
means." (Taylor, 2006). Many impoverished people turn to crimes like breaking and entering, armed
robbery. and shoplifting, in order to accumulate enough money to supplement an inadequate or
nonexistent income. Other crimes, like vandalism and narcotic distribution, provide a needed escape
for young teens and older people living in destitute. (Payne, 2011). People stricken with poverty are
in urgent need for the necessities of life. They are frantic for an escape from their bleak position.
This severe desperation is the underlying cause of many crimes. Many people have the mentality
that the impoverished need to "pull themselves up by the bootstraps" and rise out of poverty, but in
reality, that is near impossible for the poverty–stricken. "Those born into poverty are less likely to
accumulate the necessary wealth to rise out of poverty; they have no inheritance to pass on to their
descendants, who have thus been born into poverty, completing the vicious cycle." (Payne, 2011).

(Payne, 2011). Many people that live in destitute by economic necessity live in specific areas. These
certain areas have a higher percentage of crime. A production of better elementary and secondary
schools, with funding of post–secondary education would resolve these issues. By raising the quality
of education, youths are able to find adequate employment, and make better decisions in their later
lives. This eradication of poverty would diminish crime everywhere (Payne, 2011). The one thing

Crime Rate And Its Effects On The United States
According to Crime in America.Net the crime rate in 2015 increased ("Incarceration in the US").
This increase is attributed to the growing number of cities, metropolitan areas and the concomitant
people living in poverty. A topic for debate has been how this country can stop the increasing crime
rate. The best methods are to have stricter gun control laws, easier and more affordable access to a
top–rate education for the lower economic classes, and the creation of good paying jobs with
benefits that provide incentives to get off welfare.
With gun–related fatalities and mass shooting at an all time high, gun control has become a
significant and controversial topic. In 2015, 372 mass shootings took place in the US, resulting in
475 deaths ("Guns in the US"). These statistics show that there is an epidemic in the US, and
lawmakers have been looking for a solution. President Obama took executive action in 2015 to
make background checks more effective and to better educate those who have purchased guns
("President Obama's 2015"). This will reduce some gun related fatalities and gun related crimes, but
these executive actions will not stop the sale of guns on the black market. In the United States, it is
possible for almost anyone who wants one to get a gun. The Second Amendment of The
Constitution reads; "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right
of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed ("Second Amendment"). The U.S.

Organized Crime In The United States
Introduction
Organized crime is often committed by highly controlled criminal groups that participate in illegal
activities for financial benefits. Indeed, organized crimes terrorize multiple facets of the American
nation, which include the US' economy as well as national security. The FBI assigns the costs of
organized crime globally at one trillion dollars per year.
Organized Crime Groups Operating in the United States
A good way of studying the types of organized crimes in the US is by examining organized crime
groups that are very prominent in the US. Threats of organized crimes originate from various
criminal organizations which include but not limited to Italian, Asian, Middle Eastern, Balkan and

Many researchers have indicated that there is no single unified Asian structured crime syndicate.
Rather, there are many crime organizations with some traditionally structured than others. With
regard to FBI reports, traditional syndicates include Triads and Japanese Yakuza while less
traditional groups include Fuck Ching, Bing circle among other small groups. These Asian crime
groups are always ready to work together across ethnic as well as racial lines provided that the
outcome is lucrative for the organizations. Asian crime syndicates get most of their incomes and
profits from trafficking drugs, counterfeiting, theft of autos, clothing, and software including cyber
crimes. It has been revealed that Washington DC, Los Angles, New Orléans and Portland are the
major operational bases of Asian organized crime.
Conclusion
Thus far, the nature of organized crime has evolved within the past few years, still is currently in a
phase of evolution. While the Italian–American groups that were once the ruler and the head of the

The Crime Rate Of The United States Essay
When we get into how society and people look at crime, it happens in every city, every
neighborhood, people are victims every day, businesses, and even property. Crime dates back since
colonization and the rates have varied over time, believe it or not, crime has decreased over the
years. As a matter of fact, the United States has been on a decline. The crime rate for the year 2000
was a total of 11,608,072 a declining year in 2015 with a total of 9,225,197. (U.S. Department of
Justice) When it comes to social responsibility, people tend to have a hard time dealing with the
laws that pertain to them, it is the responsibility of the people to not violate the human rights of
others and be liable for their actions. Unfortunately, the crime, people commit, we often find, they
don 't want to own up to and will blame every outlet they can find for their actions. "It 's not my
fault", "I 'm broke", "my friend made me do it", "if I made more money," or "my neighborhood is
low income." Situations like these could be a tempting and a reason why crimes may happen, due to
their life experiences. It is the individual 's decision from the start to make the right choice unless
forced against their will. It is up to us as a government, city, judge, community, neighborhood,
parents etc. to stick together and find the causes, solutions, and new skill sets for individuals in
social problem situations. If we quickly take a look at social problem perspective, we see some

International Crime And Jurisdiction In The United States
Jurisdiction is the most prominent issue for enforcement officers to deal with international crimes
stemming from the deep web. There are illegal markets for gambling, weapons, explosives,
assassinations, exotic animals, terrorism and hacktivism all of which can be accessed by anyone in
the world if they knew the right ways to get in. The darknet has an international customer base, and
cases can get even more complicated when criminals from different countries start to work together.
Questions of which country's law should be followed and what punishment should be given arise,
and not all parties involved end up satisfied. While it is impossible to please everyone with a trial
and punishment, having an international court disfuses any issue concerning jurisdiction in order to
deal with the criminal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could argue that the International Criminal Court already exists, and there is no need for
another one. However, the International Criminal Court follows The Rome Statute for jurisdiction
which only allows action to be taken for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes,
and crimes of aggression. Though there are some crimes committed through the darknet that can fall
under this, such as terrorism, the majority of them do not. This does not mean these crimes are any

Firstly, the Republican Party proposes that to lower crime, the current laws must be enforced and
some require harsher penalties to discourage potential felons. "The next president must restore the
public's trust in law enforcement and civil order by first adhering to the rule of law himself" (GOP).
In other words, the states should strictly follow the legislation to help deter crime. The Republican
Party has a strong stance for support of the death penalty for the more destructive crimes.
Secondly, the Democratic Party believes that more emphasis should be placed on policies that help
prevent crimes. The punishment for certain crimes is not enough to deter crime on their own. The
Democrats realize that the United States has a mass incarceration

The Effects Of Crime On The United States
I am from different areas in the United States such as Missouri, Utah and Pennsylvania, which is
where I was born. I have never been in trouble with the law nor really interacted with it so I can't
really say much. I will say that in Pennsylvania I use to live by Erie which had a pretty high crime
rate and have been in the less admired parts of town or what people call the ghetto. I always saw the
news of shootings and robbing mostly within that area. I was always upset by it, but I realized there
was nothing I could do as a 10 year old. Missouri and Utah where I lived hardly had any crime I
have experienced. The main issue there was speeding.
My interest in Criminal Justice is mainly looking into reasons people do crime or using it in a social
context since I plan on being a counselor and I know the psychological effects of crime on people,
but not the reason or the idea why people continue on with certain crimes even though they know
that the outcome won't come in their favor. I also would like to see the different kinds of
relationships between the police and the community. I also seek the different types of stigma that
people have of the police such as seeing them as oppressors or power hunger people. I also would
like to see the various of way that the law is interpreted and used on a case by case bases.
The death penalty in my mind is still effective if it was done more public perhaps by choosing
people at random to see the execution much like how jury duty works. I

Why do people do such harmful crimes? Great question it really takes a heartless person to take

Classification Of Political Crime In The United States
Political crime is crime drive by a specific philosophical view. In the United States, there isn't a
sanctioned classification of criminal behavior called political crime due to the First Amendment.
Our Constitution restricts the government from taking measures against people for voicing their
views in a peaceful assembly. Political crime is an act carried out with the intention to harm our
federal, state, or local government under certain circumstances. Politics and crime have been linked
together since the beginning of time dating back to tribal leadership. "It is virtually impossible to
find a history of any society which does not record political criminals. They have always existed,
they exist now, and they will exist in the future, in spite of the historical experience that the ideal
behind the political crime is often destroyed the moment it becomes reality" (Schafer 1971).) Any
crime committed to purposely harm the state government and political system can be viewed as a
political crime, but a crime committed by a politician is not automatically deemed a political crime.
If a state senator decides to abuse her children, she would be committing the crime of child abuse. In
spite of this, if she began taking bribes to back a law to benefit large corporations, then it is
considered a political crime. Violence can also be included in political crimes, there can be be non–
violent in nature. The U.S does not have a crime class that applies primarily to political crimes,

Street Crime And Violence In The United States

  • 1. Street Crime And Violence In The United States Street crime and young violence have become a popular topic in the media. Since the shooting of unarmed African American male by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri many cities with high crime rates increased drastically. Many young adults fear the police and alter their lives to fight the police or are forced into lives of crimes due to the fact they are unable to find a decent job after incarceration. Although, over the years street crimes have decreased youth violence remains on the rise. In this essay, I will cover various topics that explain why youth violence and street crime are linked together and the reasons why youth crime and street violence will never fade completely away. Youth violence is a major part in today's society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weapon of choice is a handgun, machine guns or an assault rifle. According to Dan Diamond of Forbes, there are more young Americans dying from gun than they are dying from cars. That's a pretty large number due to the fact at least one young person dies every six hours from a car accident. In America there are almost 32,000 young adults are related to the killing by a gun per year. It is just not youth on youth violence that is affected by these street crimes but innocent victims are often victims of this outrageous youth violence. Gun violence has always been an issue in America in the early 1990's gun violence was at an all time high but with the crack down of the drug trade many guns were seized. Now all of a sudden many illegal guns are roams the streets due to people purchasing legal weapons and selling them on the street for double the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Crime Problem In The United States Crime is a major problem in the United States. It is happening to often than it should. Everyday there is always a crime story–taking place in the news or in the daily newspaper. It is difficult for individuals to not be drawn to negativity happening in their community. There are many different ideas on how to solve the crime problems that are happening in our country. First we need to have stricter punishment and stick to it for all criminals. Many of the criminals are getting off with little to no punishment, which sometimes they become repeat offenders. With some criminals having good behavior while serving time, the justice system are allowing them be released early from confinement and out on parole. This is unacceptable. If they committed ... • 9. Crime in the United States The United States is one of the most developed countries in the world, if not the most developed, yet the U.S. has the largest prison population in the entire world by far. For most of my life I have always believed that the American justice system worked. When people do wrong they need to be punished and pay for their crimes. That is what our justice system is here for so how could is possibly go wrong? Unfortunetly it is not as simple as it sounds and all it takes is a little research to discover why. Before researching the U.S. criminal justice system, I would never have considered the fact that the U.S. has the worst prison population in the world. The more I reasearched, the more I realized that my own belief's of the justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality of our prisons is nearly the opposite thought, with prisoners being tortured and beat daily. A documentary on the horrors of American prison's titled, Torture: America's Brutal Prisons, details how badly prisoners are treated in graphic detail. The documentary shows how prison beatings happen more often than we think and how some are even fatal. This is generally not because of bad inmates, but because these prisoners are no longer treated like human beings. When they are finally released, most of them will be in worse condition mentally and physically than when they were first sent to prison. As a result, they are more likely to commit other crimes and be sent right back to prison. American prisons themselves are considered violent and horribly run. The problem is easy to spot, but solutions are seemingly impossible to implement. Andrew Cohen, of www.theweek.com, stated, "It's fairly easy to get judges to find unconstitutional conditions inside our prisons. The hard part is getting government to do anything about it." Cohen, goes on to state that, even after a lawsuit and a deal to improve the abusive and neglectful conditions at a juvenile center, virtually no progress has been made for over two years. Reform advocates were forced to go back to court over the county official's lack of action on the matter. This just goes to show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These criminal activities have a considerable impact on a state's social and economic growth and development. Different states in the U.S. have developed different strategies to combat crime, which continues to transform in form and frequency. A number of policies, options, and approaches to crime control exist. This report explores some of the policies, options, and approaches that could be used by Florida to enhance crime control. Violent crime covers four categories of offenses: robbery, forcible rape, aggravated assault, murder and non–negligent manslaughter. Property crime on the other hand comprises four classes of offences namely: arson, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and larceny (Bioshop and Frazier, 2006). Florida is one of the states in the U.S. that consistently encounters social, environmental, economic, and security challenges. This is attributed to the influx of immigrants into the State. The current trends of developments being witnessed in Florida have come with several problems, with insecurity being a major concern. For example, the crime rate in the State of Florida continues to be major concern for both the Floridians and those visiting the State. In 2010 for instance, the Bureau of Justice reported that Florida was the second State in the U.S. with the highest Crime Index (FJJAB, 2011). Similarly, Florida is currently the state with the highest incidence of violent crime in the U.S. Furthermore, it is ranked the third in vehicle theft, second highest for property crimes, and first in number of aggravated assaults (Bioshop and Frazier, 2006). Drug trafficking is another form of crime that continues to affect Florida. The United States of America is not left out in this grave problem. In fact, it is one of the countries most affected by terrorism. This could be attributed to the fact that the country has acquired several enemies around the world. Several militia groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's Branch in Libya (ISIL), Boko Haram, Hezbollah, and HAMAS, want revenge for perceived crimes committed against them. Hate Crime In The United States Hate Crimes Recently, in a response to an increase in violence, the state of Wisconsin passes a law that enhances the penalty for any offense committed against a victim where the crime is committed because of hatred for the victim's race, sex, or religion. Prior to discussing whether or not this penalty enhancement violates the civil jurisdiction given to the state from God; one must first provide the foundation of the jurisdiction of the state from the biblical principles. First, Christ recognizes that God has all authority "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God" Roman 13:1 (King James Online). • 49. Preventing Violent Crimes In The United States Violent crimes are unfortunately a routine occurrence among our present society. Violent crimes are those in which an offender uses and/or threatens to use a weapon in order to accomplish their crimes. A violent crime occurs in the United States every 27 seconds (Karmen 78). Violent crimes can end fatally if the offender feels threatened. Many behaviors can be practiced in order to successfully reduce the likelihood of these violent crimes from occurring. 1. The most fatal violent crime is the crime of murder. Murder can occur in many forms: first degree murder, second degree murder, serial murder, spree murder, and mass murder to name a few. The major difference between first and second degree murder includes an offender who commits first degree murder has ultimately planned the murder, while second degree murder is ultimately spontaneous. Additionally, serial murder includes killings of 3 or more people within separate emotional events. On the other hand, spree murder and mass murder are singular emotional events however spree murder is the killing of multiple people in a number of locations while mass murder is the killing of multiple people in one singular location. Factors that may increase the chance of a person becoming a victim includes the victim being male (Davis, Lurigio, and Herman, 135). What is considered a crime in one country is not always considered a crime in another. This seems as though it would be an issue when looking at statistics of different countries or even state to state so crimes need to be classified into groups. Terrorism became a focus in the criminal justice system and several new crimes were added to a list that was categorized as terrorism. Human trafficking has become one of the biggest criminal enterprises concerning a large quantity of human beings, large amounts of money paid to illegal smugglers, and a mass amount of innocent lives lost. While international people who want to come to the states have the right mind set of leaving their less desirable homeland for a more hopeful place to live. Because immigration is increasing many countries fear that the growth will lead to a higher probability of terrorist activity. Another major reason why countries are scared of illegal immigration growth is because they fear that terrorist organizations will penetrate their terrorist members into the population. There have been numerous accounts of illegal immigrants that have been associated with terrorists groups (Adler, 2013). Every year the United State releases a Trafficking in Persons report. The report shows that human trafficking is a major problem in many areas of the world and there isn't a government in the world that is doing everything in its power to try to solve this problem (Gaspard, 2014). Most of these factors are socioeconomic and demographic. One's age, mental health and the ability to seek and receive treatment for mental health issues, the ability and ease of getting a gun, or even drug use are all possible factors that influence the crime rate in the United States. One must also though consider that when the economy is on the brink of collapse, crime can go up; however, when the economy is succeeding, crime rate will go down. He argued that delinquency occurs when lower–class youth become frustrated because they lack the means for achieving their personal goals (Larry J. Siegel, 2005) this is most likely to occur in large cities. For example, data from the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports[5] showed that nearly 1 in 4 homicides by juveniles occurred in eight counties. The major cities in these counties (beginning with the city in the county with the greatest number of identified juvenile homicide offenders) are Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Baltimore, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Dallas. As these counties contain just 12% of the U.S. population, it is clear that homicide by juveniles is concentrated in a small portion of the U.S. geographic area. Theorists from this perspective look at the environment and sub–culture that a juvenile resides in. This perspective sees delinquency as a function of the surroundings or environment that a juvenile lives in. The Strain theory has been mainly applied to juvenile delinquency among lower–class boys. The central idea is that these young people share the value of success with the larger culture, but because of inadequate socialization, they are unable to effectively compete. This produces strain, which they seek to resolve. The Strain theory has its limitations however. It does not explain suburban delinquency for example. In the attachment, when children respect their parents, appreciate all that they do for them, they are less likely to be involved in criminal activity. However, when they do not have the proper guidance, lack of concern for their outside activities, they tend to stray, and seek out those who show concern for them. Often it becomes a role model, a close friend, someone to which they seek approval from. This becomes their attachment bond. In gangs, this often leads to the higher authority, a person to which they look up too, to whom they want to become. The level of commitment involves how far one will go to prove themselves. One is committed to a gang, to which they consider all members family. "People who have money, property, and good reputations are committed to the social system that allowed them the opportunities for that success (Fuller 2006)." Even though crime rates are currently on the decline, one crime represents one too many. Proponents against crime are gradually becoming strict towards a culprit of crime including the reenactment of the death penalty, a deterrent against crime, in hopes to reduce crime rates. Although people who commit serious crimes, such as homicide, deserves a harsh punishment, death penalties are taking the concept of punishment slightly too far. A fourteen– year–old teenager murders someone or does a massacre in school can be often seen from the headline news of newspaper. However, these youth criminals may have much less severe punishment than adults may have who have done the same crime. A criminal is a criminal that must be punished as no difference between adult and youths; especially, the crimes are categorized under murder and rape. A bullet wound just hurt as much when a child as fires the gun as when an adult fires the gun. Therefore, regardless to age, the youths who commit heinous crimes like murder and rape should be charged as adults in a way of the punishment they deserve the same. The issue has been a controversial one for a long time. The two justice systems, juvenile court and adult court have been long established for decades. Both involve people accused of crimes with the basic individual rights in the court. According to Pacific Juvenile Defender Center, it stated, "Youth may be held under juvenile court jurisdiction from age 12 until age 21, or until age 25 if he or she is committed to the California division of juvenile justice." The purpose of juvenile court system was set up for those youths who are not as mature and cannot be held as adults. The Causes Of Organized Crime In The United States Organized crime, which gained infamous attention in America back in the 1920s during the prohibition era, can be defined as systematical criminal activities that are controlled by a powerful group for profit on a city–wide, interstate, and sometimes international scale. These types of organizations engage in illegal activities as a way of generating income, or "black money." They structure like a business, freely taking on violence and bribery to preserve their operations and maintain internal and external control. Internal controls provide assurance regarding the achievement of operational objectives (making sure they are effective, efficient, and accurate), while external controls include different resources and contacts (suppliers). Everything they do, from gambling to prostitution to dealing with drugs, goes against all government regulations. But what forces them to commit crimes that are against government regulations and what do they gain personally? How can we stop, or at least lessen the activities of these crimes? Organized Crime is considered a major threat to the development and security of their country. They gain profit through the evaluation of countries risks, benefits, and markets, and have taken to multiple forms of corruption to invade political, economic, and social levels not only in their own country, but in the world. This increase is attributed to the growing number of cities, metropolitan areas and the concomitant people living in poverty. A topic for debate has been how this country can stop the increasing crime rate. The best methods are to have stricter gun control laws, easier and more affordable access to a top–rate education for the lower economic classes, and the creation of good paying jobs with benefits that provide incentives to get off welfare. With gun–related fatalities and mass shooting at an all time high, gun control has become a significant and controversial topic. In 2015, 372 mass shootings took place in the US, resulting in 475 deaths ("Guns in the US"). These statistics show that there is an epidemic in the US, and lawmakers have been looking for a solution.
