OPERATION ANALYSIS AND STUDY OF TRAVEL DIAGRAMS by by tharun kumar malapati.pptx
1.
2. ๏ฝ What is process chart:
๏ฝ Process charts are used to record the detailed
information's about the existing methods & also for
recording the developed methods.
๏ฝ Which can be done Quickly and easily.
The symbols used in the process charts produce a better
pictures and quick understating of the facts.
3. ๏ฝ Process charts use the following five basic symbols to record different types of
events.
1> Operation.
2>Inspection
3> Transport
4>Storage
5>Delay
6>Operation cum Transportaion
7>Inspection cum operation
4. ๏ฝ Operations:
1. Operation represents an action:
2. An operation involves a change in the location or condition of a product
Example : Cutting a bar on a power hack-saw Driving a nail in wood.
5. ๏ฝ INSPECTION
Inspection is an act of checking For correctness of the quantity
Or the quality of the items .inspection is not normally
Excepted to change the shape or other characteristics
Of an item
TRANSPORT
Transport indicates the movement of an item from one location to another
The item may be material equipment an operator or his hands only.
6. STORAGE
storage represents a stage when a finished good or raw materials awaits
an action
EXAMPLE
Milling cutters lying in tool store
Finished goods kept in godowns
Delay
Delay occurs when something stops the process and a product waits for the next event
7. OPERATION CUM TRANSPORATION
Both operation and transpiration occur at The same time
Example :
Articles are being painted as they are transported by chain conveyors
8. INSPECTION CUM OPERATION
inspection the job during operation both occurs at the same time
Example :
A Powder milk tin is being weighed as it filled
9. CHARTS AND DIAGRAMS USED IN METHOD
STUDY
Following charts are used in method study:
1 opc โoutline process chart
2 Fpc โFlow process chart
Man type
Material type
Equipment type
3 Two handed process chart
4 Multiple activity chart like man and machine chart
5 Simochart
10. The following diagram are also used in method
study
๏ฝ Flow diagram
๏ฝ String diagram
๏ฝ Cycle graph
๏ฝ Cronocycle diagram
๏ฝ Travel diagram
11. FLOW DIAGRAM
A flow diagram is a drawing or a diagram which is drawn to
scale .it shows the relative position of production machinery jigs,
fixtures , etc and marks the paths followed by men and
materials
STRING DIAGRAM
When the paths are many and repetitive, a flow diagram becomes
congested and it is neither easy to trace it nor to understand .
12. CYCLEGRAPH
The cyclecgraph is a record of a path of movement usually
traced by a continuos source of light on a photograph.
Preferably stereoscopic camera
CHRONOCYLEGRAPH
A chronocyclegraph consists of the trace of a path of movement
recorded on a photographic plate.
The trace is made is made by means of light attached to an operator
fingers which are exposed to a photographic plate .
13. TRAVEL DIAGRAM
A travel chart is a simple table chat is useful Where there is
multiple movements between places
14. FLOW PROCESS CHART :
๏ This is a graphic representation of operation ,transporation ,inspection, delay
and storage occuring during production .
๏ This is also gives the information regarding distances moved and time
required for different
๏ Items such as transportation ,delays and inspection etc.
15. ๏ฝ There are three types of flow process charts ,namely
1> Man type flow process chart
2 >Equipment type flow process chart
3 >material type flow process chart
1 >it records what an operator does
2> it records the manner
3 >it records how the equipment is used
16. ๏ฝ Activity - cutting of risers on a casting
๏ฝ Activity begins - casting lying in stores
๏ฝ Activity Ends - risers are inspected
๏ฝ Name of the recorder โ
๏ฝ Date and Time -
18. ๏ฝ 1) Type of the flow process chart .
๏ฝ 2) information of the person producing the part
๏ฝ 3)Different stages and their involved in the process
๏ฝ 4) information ,place ,time &name of operator
For whom the product or process is prepared .
5) Transport activity ,it various stages and distance travelled in it
6)Different stages of delay ,storage and inspection
7) Summary information of activities
