Prior to studying business and finance at New York University, I wanted to be a professional ballet dancer. I fell in love with the art form as a
freshman in high school when I saw a performance of the Nutcracker. At that moment, I decided to take up ballet. Seven years later than the traditional
path I began to study dance, but through tenacity and dedication I was able to gain acceptance to Boston Ballet School's Pre–Professional Program after
a year and a half at a local studio. Nevertheless, I was put in a class with middle school students, most of whom were more talented than me. Though
I rarely ever think of ballet as a team activity, as I reflect upon my experience years later, I realize that my classmates and I were truly a team and that I

Due to a poor night's sleep, I found myself growing tired after the intermission. I feel as if the concert had more upbeat songs it would have helped

Ever since I was six years old, ballet has defined me. I was extremely passionate about making a career for myself through dance, and I spent all of my
time in dance classes instead of other extracurriculars or social activities
Ballet for me began in a small basement studio, doing twirls and jumps and receiving stickers from the teacher when I worked well. At age six it was

The York Dance Ensemble Presented: Space/Time/Line, and a piece in the show that was captivating was Avium Redux choreographed by Susan Lee.
The dance was a fourteen–minute number consisting of eighteen dancers. The simplicity of the dancer's white costumes made the movements clearly
visible and captivating. This dance evidently presents all aspects of body, effort, space, shape and time through the dancer's movement. From an

Swan Dance Analysis
1.The most interesting thing that I saw from the video about the pointe shoes. I had not realized how personalized and specific each dancer's' shoes
were. It was interesting that a dancer can feel in her shoe when the maker made a minor change or mistake. The dancer who is talking throughout the
clip mentions how she sews her own shoes. I would think that would be difficult, but she said it only takes about 5 minutes. I was also surprised to
learn that the dancers go through one pair of shoes per day and would also use a new pair for performances. The amount of money that the New York
City Ballet spends on shoes per year was quite a lot, at half a million dollars.
Another interesting thing I found was how many types of dance there are. Through the reading I learned that there multiple types of ballet. It was
easy to see the differences in the ballets in the video clips. For example, the Joffrey Ballet dancers had a much more contemporary style than the
dancers from Swan Lake. The Swan Lake dancers were classic ballet and they told a story with their movements. Joffrey Ballet did not tell a story but
made Prince's music even more interesting. Their dance did not tell a story, but instead aided the music and made it more interesting.

The 20th century was a revolutionary era of creativity and expression that broke the boundaries of all art, music and dance that came before it. This
innovative period of modern art would not exist in the same capacity if not for the artists that paved the way. Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, and

Jessica Lang Dance's concert showed at the Irvine Barclay Theater on February 19, 2016 was successfully launched with stunning exhibitions in one

Even if it has specific sub–genres with set guidelines and expected characteristics like other forms of visual and performing arts, dancers have the

I close my eyes and everything seems so calm that it is as if time itself has stopped altogether. A wave of peacefulness rushes over me. New York
City, I still cannot believe it. I begin to hear a soft hum in my ears that quickly increases in volume. I open my eyes and I am suddenly brought back
to reality as the train rushes by, its horn blowing loud and strong. The train slows to a stop and the doors open. All at once a massive crowd of people
rush off of the subway. Those of us standing on the platform push through the crowd, praying that our massive group of dancers will all make it onto

I hate turning. I always get so dizzy.

Why is she always so strict when it comes to ballet practices? I have always struggled in ballet. I don't know why, but I'm so much better at everything
else, even though I put in so much effort towards ballet. This year I'm in a different ballet program. Even though it is a lot stricter, I have improved a

production. I have gained so much experience through my project and I am so glad to have been a part of such a wonderful play.

I think Nijinsky decided to use the circle dancing as his spatial configuration because the circles allowed for more use of the stage and it
symbolizes the rituals of natives are all connected during their celebrations and sacrifices. By having the males and females separated Nijinsky made
