2. Thriller Conventions
Plot: Disorientated main character, identity crisis.
High tension situation; life or death
Characters: Male protagonist with skills and courage
Damsel in distress character, a final aim
Antagonist in the shadows, hidden
Setting: High speed train, the speed creates drama
High level technology lab, interesting equipment.
Camerawork: Lots of close ups on characters to show their facial
expressions
Sound: Music changing in tone represents protagonists changing
emotions
3. Representation Of Ethnicity
34:00-36:12
Mise-En-Scene: Both men wearing a suit, business men.
Briefcase, suspicious because it could have a bomb in it
Tissue, makes man seem more vulnerable as he is ill, not someone to
antagonise
Train station, an area of travel and speed, people going places.
Sound: Sounds of them fighting, and the main character questioning the man,
shows how he is suspicious of him.
Editing: Shot reverse shot shows how they are being hostile towards each
other during conversation.
Camerawork: Long shot shows how empty the area is, the drama is created
just by them.
The whole scene creates a sense that the protagonist is antagonising this man
for no reason, possibly stereotyping because the man looks middle eastern.
