Ride Horses Research Paper
Nervous and excitement are just a few words that describe how I am feeling about riding in my very
first recognized show. I have worked hard to get to this point riding my pony who I have had since
birth, but am just now able to build a relationship with. You could say that I was bound to ride
horses as the love of horses grows in our family. My mom dad met in college wile on the equestrian
team. I have a five–year old brother named Garrett, sometimes he be annoying but other times he is
as cute as when he was a baby. I have been on a horse since i was 3 months old. I own a Welsh Pony
named Gallod Fair Lady and she is 13.2 hands tall. When I was little I was scared to ride her
because with her you can not kick her to go you have to lightly

Internal Medicine Personal Statement
I found myself on the ground tasting dirt within minutes of getting on a horse for the first time.
Having apprenticed as a stable hand for the first few weeks of equestrian training, I knew I had
grown to love the sport. Fortunately, dignity bruises much easily than the body and though shaken, I
wouldn't be deterred. The sheer joy I felt during those short minutes was unparalleled, and I wanted
more. Mastering this discipline I realized, demanded a commitment to extensive study and practice.
Four months, three falls and a broken wrist later, I qualified for my first equestrian championship. It
was during my internship year that I found my niche in Internal Medicine. Fresh out of final year, it
was intriguing how illnesses seldom presented as described in textbooks, the classic paroxysm in
Malaria being a good case in point. Preexisting co–morbidities and medications served to add
another layer of complexity, effectively individualizing every person that presented to the service.
Every bedside came with a different set of challenges even if the illness was the same. By the time
the shift was over I would have interpreted Pulmonary Function Tests to adjust medications for a 60
year old with emphysema, ruled out dengue in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Providing acceptable healthcare in a resource–starved setting required ingenuity and cost–conscious
innovations. For Ramji, a lower limb amputee of many years, this came in the form of the 'Jaipur
Foot' prosthesis. It helped him not only regain mobility, but dignity as well. We worked to bring all
stakeholders together and projects like these brought my leadership skills to the fore. His story is
one of many others that helped motivate us look beyond conventional patient care to bring about
needed change. Its success encouraged me to constructively analyze, evaluate and contribute to
formulating policies and processes in my workplace, as long as patients

Arabian Horse Breed Research Paper
The Arabian horse breed is very unique and talented. They can do many different sports, which
many of the sports they do are similar to the Quarter horse and Thoroughbred. These sports include:
horse racing, English and western pleasure, cutting and reining, jumping, and dressage. The Arabian
has an interesting body style which makes them better at certain things (Arabian Horse Association,
2018).
The most distinguishing traits that the Arabian breed has are its head, neck, back, and tail. They have
a small head compared to most other breeds. They have a small muzzle and large nostrils. Their eyes
are large and round with a dark color. Their ears tend to be small and thin with the tips curving
inward. The Arabians tend to have long arched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are able to do the dance like moves very gracefully and they look very beautiful when they do
this. They truly look like they are dancing when it comes to this. They may be short and have a
different look to them than some of the other breeds, but this does not give them any sort of a
disadvantage. They are very good at learning the moves in dressage and are very easy to train to do
this sport. The neck style of the horse along with their short backs gives them the advantage of the
way they look when they move in this sport. The Arabians tails also give them a signature look
(White, 2018).
The Arabian also is known to be ridden in English and western pleasure riding. This is not
necessarily considered to be a sport to some people, but it still takes a lot of work and talent from
both the horse and the rider. The Arabian is used in western events such as sometimes rodeo, cutting,
and reining. The events that they can compete in at a rodeo is the same as the Thoroughbred and the
Quarter horse. The Arabian may have a disadvantage in competing in these events because they are
a naturally slower breed and are shorter than most other breeds that compete in rodeo (White,

Genetic Abnormalities Common in Arabian Horses
Arabian horses have been around for thousands of years, originating in the Arabian Peninsula. They
were first bred by the Bedouins to be strong endurance animals, capable of surviving in an
unforgiving desert environment (Discover). The Bedouins formed strong bonds with their horses,
sharing resources and shelter with their four legged companions. As a result of both their incredible
stamina and lifelong loyalty, the Arabian has been remarkably well preserved since their inception
(Discover). Today, they are found not only in the Middle East but all over the world. With their
trademark dished face, arched neck, and incredible stamina, Arabians are still one of the most
popular horse breeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can result in a range of symptoms, including anything from a lack of coordination all the way
to full limb paralysis (Watson). While some foals are unable to stand at birth due to OAAM, some
may not show symptoms until weeks after birth. A radiograph is used to determine whether or not a
foal is affected, and there is currently no test available for OAAM, as there is still not a lot known
about this disease (Watson). Research is still being conducted, so hopefully questions will soon be
answered about this disorder that almost exclusively impacts

Compare And Contrast Percheron And Quarter Horses
Percherons and Quarter horses have copious similarities and differences. The physical features of
the Quarter horse and the Percheron contrast dramatically. Both breeds of horses have several
similar jobs and a few different jobs. The weight, height and life expectancy of the Percheron versus
the Quarter horse vary. While Quarter horses come in bounteous colors, Percherons come in a
several eye–catching colors, and each breed also has a different blood type, or in other words,
temperament. Both Percherons and Quarter horses can have several different health problems. The
history and breed development of the Percheron contrasts dramatically from that of the Quarter
horse, with only a few similarities. Percherons and Quarter horses each have different physical
features. Both the Percheron and the Quarter horse have straight profiled heads. While the Quarter
horse has a short and small refined head, the Percheron has an exceptionally broad forehead, small
ears, and large eyes. Both Percherons and Quarter horses have very deep and broad chests. Although
the Quarter horse has strong legs and flat knees, the Percheron has clean and heavily muscled feet
and legs. Percherons and quarter horses share several of the same jobs and a few different ones.

Horse Deworming Essay
The consequences of not properly taking care of a horse can be deadly for the animal and possibly
harmful towards the environment. Without the appropriate care of a horse, the owner may be faced
with fines and possibly jail time. Coat maintenance is a very important part of the care of your
horse. The coat of a healthy horse is smooth, fine and glossy. The coat of a sick horse is dry, coarse
and doesn't shine due to decreased skin oil. To ensure a healthy coat on your horse the proper
nutrition is essential. Horses need to be feed roughage which consist of hay and concentrates which
are known as oats, barley and corn. It is also important to feed them on a regular schedule to prevent
them from eating to fast or not eating enough. Water is also essential and should be always
available. Horses need about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bots is a common parasite in horse in the united states. The flies lay their eggs on horses near the
front legs. When the horse swallows the eggs it produces worms in the stomach of the horse.
Deworming needs to be done on all horses on the property at the same time. If not untreated horses
will contaminated the pasture and barn. Fleas and ticks are common external parasite in horses.
These can cause problems for horse due to being blood sucking and carrying diseases. Replant
sprays are used for external parasites. It is also important to keep grass cut and treated in areas of
pastures and trail rides. Horse hooves need daily care to prevent disease or damage. The hoof wall
grows to replace what is lost from wear and tear. Hoof wall grows faster in warmer weather. When
horses stand in wet areas or live in humid climates the hoof wall becomes diseased. Also if there is a
problem with the blood supply to their foot the hoof wall becomes dry and brittle and cracks. It
takes about eight months to grow the hoof wall back. During that time hoof care needs to be done

How Can Horseback Riding Be Considered A Sport
A lot of people say horseback riding should not be considered a sport. Most people tend to think that
all equestrians do is sit there and allow the horse to do all the work. Equestrian is not only a sport,
but a team, a community and a lifestyle. Riding in essence fits the definition of sport, even though
many non–equestrian people do not understand why. The definition of sport is, "sports are
institutionalized competitive activities that involve rigorous physical exertion or the use of relatively
complex physical skills by participants motivated by internal and external motives" (definition from
the sports in society textbook). People that say horseback riding does not fit that description are
unaware that in truth it really does. An equestrian

Little Chino: Linear Horse
A miniature horse is a small horse that is less than 34 inches tall from their withers (last hairs of the
mane) to the ground. Miniature horses are different from ponies because of their bone structure and
temperament. Mini horses are not aggressive versus ponies (Shetlands) seem to always be mean and
bite. These horses make great pets especially for small children learning how to ride. I have two
miniature horses, which are part of our family. Little Foot was born here and Chino was bought,
when my oldest was born. Chino was five years old when we bought him and is now almost 21.
Little Chino's real name is Cappuccino, but we call him Chino for short. He has made the biggest
impact on our family. Chino is a family member. He is about 34 inches tall and round and fat as he
is tall; has a white bushy mane and tail; his thick hair is a dappled grey. Poor baby is a grumpy old
man in his golden years, which he has deserved it throughout the years though. Both my girls have

Madeline, Olly represents many more things than just a crush: he symbolizes an outside world, a
normal life and everything she imagines being a teenager to entail. The combination of being
confined inside and the aspirations of true love, leads Madeline and Olly to take an adventure into
the real world in Hawaii. Seeing the ocean has always been a dream of Maddy's. Maddy tells the
reader, "I can't believe I've missed all this. I've missed the whole wide world"(Yoon 195). She
finally experienced everything she had dreamed of. The vacation comes to an abrupt halt when
Maddy becomes ill. This drastically changed the course of their love. After coming home from
Hawaii, Maddy distances herself from Olly. The two drift apart after the frightening experience.
However, when Maddy is aware of the fact that she does not have SICD she attempts to reconnect
with Olly. Although, the readers do not find out if the reconnection ever succeeds. The story
concludes with Maddy meeting Olly for the first time after their venture. It is never revealed if their
love ever heals. This is not the only relationship that is left obscure from the book. Since Maddy is

Creating Perfection: The Latest Horse And Rider
"Pull your head out of your ass and ride that damn horse!" The words echoed across the arena,
reverberated at an extraordinary volume from the mouth of my gruff trainer, Mindy. I had to assume
she meant the words figuratively, since I am not a gymnast.
I was sitting on a paint mare called Harley, a volatile horse, preparing to jump a course of fences.
Jumping horses is a similar to stacking a house of cards; to succeed you must have every card in
perfect alignment, and then you can hope no one breathes. Creating perfection is almost inevitable,
the rider's equation may be the textbook ideal, but their effectiveness over the horse is insignificant.

My First Horse Research Paper
My First Horse
Since I was six years old, I have had a love for horses. All I wanted was a horse, I could have as my
own. Every summer I would go to a horse camp, called Bunker Hills and I would spend almost
everyday there. I loved being around all the horses and being able to interact with them. We would
ride every day and when we were done, we would go learn facts about the horses. I fell in love with
the environment, the freedom, and the horses. I wanted more of it. I could not simply get enough.
In March 2010, my parents decided to find another horse for me to ride. I was no longer going to
Bunker Hills and I started to ride my dad's friends horse. My dad friend ran out of time to do lessons
with me. I was not able to ride. When March came my parents went horse searching to find a horse I
could ride. They finally came across this sweet horse named Lucie and that month I started doing
lessons on her. This horse was so special to me, I treated like she was mine and only mine. She was
in away my parents leased her.
I never felt so happy in my life. Lucie changed me. She taught me to be confident in myself, and to
have compassion for others. I learned how important it is to take care of others and how to treat
others. She was not only a horse but she became my best friend, she became ... Show more content

Research Paper On Horse
The horse (Equus ferus caballus)[2][3] is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. It is an odd–
toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the
past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi–toed creature, Eohippus, into the large, single–toed
animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their domestication is
believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC. Horses in the subspecies caballus are domesticated,
although some domesticated populations live in the wild as feral horses. These feral populations are
not true wild horses, as this term is used to describe horses that have never been domesticated, such
as the endangered Przewalski's horse, a separate subspecies, and the only remaining true wild horse.
There is an extensive, specialized vocabulary used to describe equine–related concepts, covering
everything from anatomy to life stages, size, colors, markings, breeds, locomotion, and behavior.
Horses' anatomy enables them to make use of speed to escape predators and they have a well–
developed sense of balance and a strong fight–or–flight response. Related to this need to flee from
predators in the wild is an unusual trait: horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down.

The Language Of Horses
Overview/Introduction Pounding hooves, flying mane and tail, soulful eyes... Probably talking about
a horse. Horses are one of the most valuable animals in the world. They are extremely well rounded.
They can be energetic, but calm, strong, but gentle with children, dangerous, but one of the best
companions you will ever have. Horses also can do a variety of things, such as show jumping, draft
work, and cross country.
Horses are measured in hands (hh). A hand is equal to four inches. Horses are almost always
measured at the withers, or the top of the horse's shoulder. Horses range in height from 9–19 hands
(36 inches–76 inches). A horse has around 205 bones in its body. It has 34 in its skull, 80 in its limbs
(20 each limb), 36–38 in its ribs, and 51–57 bones in its vertebrae.

have short, fine heads, powerful legs, and deep chests. A second type of warm–blooded horse is the
Hanoverian. Originally bred in the in Germany, this horse is beautiful and very athletic. Most of the
horses seen competing in the Olympics are Hanoverians, as they excel in horse jumping and

Evaluation of Play War Horse Essay
An evaluation of the play 'War Horse', showing your understanding of the medium and elements
used and your response.
On Monday the 21st of September I went to see the play 'War Horse' at the New London Theatre.
The play was directed by Marianne Elliot and Tom Morris and is written about the novel 'War Horse'
by Michael Morpurgo. The play is about a horse, Joey. He is sold to the English cavalry and is
shipped off to France were we serves in WW1. His owner, Albert desperate not to lose Joey, enlists
in the army despite the fact that he is under aged. Albert embarks on a treacherous journey on a
quest to find Joey. The play is based upon the horse's perspectives and views. War Horse is trying to

A stylised moment was when Joey met the tank during the war scene; this moment was very intense
as Joey was faced with a huge big tank that he cannot compete against. It shows the old technology
in this case the horse meeting the new technology the tank. As Joey meets the tank he screams and
gallops fast past the tank, while doing so Joey breaths rapidly. This is shown when the actors
controlling the horse move the stomach inwards and out. There is a use of strobe lighting effects into
the audience to make them feel Joey's fear and panic that he is going through. In addition there is
loud classical music playing in the background to intensify the emotions that the horse is going
through. When Joey is first faced with the tank he runs, this is shown by the clever use of the
revolve. The use of juxtapositioning occurs here, as it shows the old warfare facing the new warfare.
The death of Major Nicholls is also a much stylised moment as it involves physicalisation.
With great timing other actors moves Major Nicholls's body to perform a summersault as he falls to
his death. Another reason why this moment is a symbolic moment in the play is because as he falls
to his death he breaks his promise with Albert. As Albert got to say his last goodbyes to Joey, Major
Nicholls promised Albert that Joey will be in good hands, and that he will take care of him.
Another stylised moment is when the ship with the wounded soldiers leaves France to head back to
England, and the

artificial hare on the track which leads them to the finish line, the first to arrive is the winner of the
race. In many countries, greyhound racing is purely conducted for enjoyment, thus the dogs are
almost invariably pets and are therefore generally well treated. However, in other countries

Still, a lot more are being euthanized. The industry has endured bashing from the animal rights
groups that claim commercial dog racing is cruel and that many retired and slow dogs are wantonly
destroyed (Mitch Stacy, 2007). Ideally, all dogs should be adopted instead of being euthanized.
However, if all dogs were to be adopted as suggested by the animal rights group, the numbers would
just be too many and it's unrealistic. Apart from those that are being adopted or euthanized, a
number of dogs have been gone 'missing' from the industry every year. Animal rights group believe
that these dogs were being mistreated and killed inhumanely. To prevent this from happening, the
new technology provides more accurate ways to identify dogs. Dogs are now implanted with
microchip for identification. Through scanning the unique code by a reader, data including the dog's
health history, weight, breed, owner etc could all be seen clearly. This is much more reliable than the
old system of using ear brands, which is far more difficult to read, and could stop any attempts to
modify the dog's weight, ability and identity, thus ensuring that they are not being mistreated (Dr
John F Newell, 2006).
"A well–regulated greyhound racing can be entirely consistent with good greyhound welfare, a
report from the Associate Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare (APGAW) has concluded."

Persuasive Essay About Horse Racing
"Covering a one–year period... one of every 500 Thoroughbred horse starts at North American
racetracks results in a fatal injury... and about 800 deaths..." (The Horse Fund) Horse racing is a
popular sporting event throughout the United States as well as the entire world. Since "the first
millennium BC. the first formal race took place in Greece." (Funk and Wagnalls 6). Horse racing is
a "contest of speed between two or more horses, usually Thoroughbreds, which are ridden over a
special course... horse racing is one of the most highly organized and commercialized sports." (Funk
and Wagnalls 1) There are many types of horse racing, but flat racing is the most popular type of
race that everyone watches. The most known racing event in the United States is the Kentucky
Derby, which is broadcasted and watched by thousands of people on the first Saturday of May. The
Kentucky Derby is known for the betting that happens to see what horse is going to win that years

Adams does not work in the big race horse industries she is experienced enough to know how the

"the dangers of this reckless breeding became obvious... A four–year–old colt named Helwan broke

10 Amazing Facts About Super–Horse Secretariat
Often referred to as the greatest racehorse that ever lived, in 1973, Secretariat broke track records in
all three legs of the Triple Crown that remain unbroken 45 years later. Since 1919, in the past 99
years, there have only been twelve horses to win the Triple Crown, including three after Secretariat,
but his records still stand. In June 1973, Secretariat, a huge chestnut colored thoroughbred, graced
the cover of Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated all at the same time, something that had not
happened before and has not happened again since. (1)

Crown, has been called the greatest horse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gentle Giant: Secretariat was a stunning red thoroughbred standing 5'6" at the shoulder, weighing
1,199 lbs with a miraculous stride of 24 feet 11" that created an angle of 110 degrees between his
fully extended legs and his body. Those who knew him described as intelligent and kind. (1)
4. Backseat Passenger: Ron Turcotte was Secretariat's jockey in all 3 Triple Crown races and agreed
with others had said that Secretariat knew his purpose was and had his own ideas about running a
race. Turcotte was criticized by people in the stands at one early point in the Belmont, who said he
seemed to be guiding Secretariat to an unsafe move, but after winning the Belmont, Turcotte said
that "he was just a backseat passenger", and that Secretariat made his own choices. (5)
3. Tragedy Strikes: Ron Turcotte was a very successful Canadian jockey who won a total of 3,032
races before tragedy in 1978 when a fall from a horse resulted in his becoming paraplegic. (6)
2. Final Race: Secretariat won the last race of his career in October 1973 defeating Canada's Horse
of the Year, by over 6 lengths. He was then retired as a three–year–old stud that sired 600 foals, none
of which ever achieved their father's potential.

Riding Horses
Do you know what it feels like yo ride a horse for the first time? Well, I know. It might be scary,
exciting or even both when I rode Splash.
I was at a horseback riding place with my friends Helen and Annie about one year ago. They both
knew how to ride a horse but I didn't know. It's my first time to ride one. When we got there I was a
bit nervous. "It will be fine," Helen said to me softly. But what might happen? Maybe I might fall

Morgan Horse Research Papers
Every young girl grows up wishing her parents would buy her a pony. Riding horses is a passion
that many people share. Riding a horse can provide a freedom unlike anything else. The bonds
between horse and rider can become so strong it is amazing they cannot talk. There are two types of
breeds that stand out among the rest: The Morgan horse and the Arabian. These two breeds are
unlike any other because of their size, yet they are also some of the most hard–working, free–
spirited horses bred.
The Morgan breed is intelligent, willing and eager. Morgans are known for their upright necks,
distinctive dished faces, and their wildly expressive eyes. They are small, compact horses with a lot
of muscle ("Morgan Breed Description"). The Arabian breed ... Show more content on

It is not a proven fact, yet it is thought that the colt's mother was an Arabian and father was a
Thoroughbred. Justin Morgan named him Figure, and although Figure was not as big as most the
other horses Justin worked with, he proved to be the strongest. Justin entered Figure into races also;
he was much smaller but almost always finished first. Word spread of this little horse's glory and
many started to breed their mares with this outstanding Stallion. And the breed was named after the
owner who started it all, Justin Morgan ("The History of the Morgan Horse"). Now the Arabian
horse has a very different background. The Arabian is the oldest known breed of horse. They are
said to have come from the deserts of the Middle East. They are now one of the most wanted breeds
in America. They lived along the Arabian Peninsula, bred by the Bedouins as war horses that could
make long journeys or quick escapes. Because of the harsh conditions in the desert, they grew large
lungs and indescribable endurance for any animal (Welcome to Arabian Horses.org – Education).

Morgan Horse). Both are small, yet have never–ending production of

How I Could Have Died
I could have died. I only remember bits and pieces of that cold, brisk New Year 's Day. I recall
waking up and going to Mass just like every other Sunday. I remember begging my dad to come on
a trail ride with me and my younger brother. When he finally relented, I gave him a huge hug and
kiss, not ever thinking that they could have been the last hug or kiss my dad might get from me.
Once we got home, I ran upstairs to get changed into my riding clothes. I had gotten new riding
pants and boots for Christmas and was eager to break them in. After all three of us changed our
clothes, we bundled up and headed out to the barn. It is a cute little red barn with a tin roof, built in
the 1800 's with three stalls, one my dad added in, and a huge hayloft. I was so excited that I was
bouncing on the balls of my feet while waiting for my dad and brother to grab their halters. I was
gripping my horses purple halter and lead rope tightly in my hands. I looked out into the field at our
four horses. Two of them were mine, the other two were my dad and brother 's. (Technically I didn 't
pay for my two horses, but my dad lets me call them mine.) One was a tiny brown and white spotted
pony named Stormy, my first pony, the other a mostly brown appaloosa horse with a white butt
named Ziggy. Both have minds of their own, but how was I to know that Ziggy was going to totally
lose his mind today. The only vivid memory I have of the rest of the day was walking out into the

Personal Narrative: The Day I Got My Horse
I got my horse when I was twelve for my golden birthday. Before I took my horse home, I went to
where he currently was to learn how to ride and spend some time with him so we were both
comfortable with each other. My first day there the woman I bought my horse from took me out to
the pasture and told me to call his name, Kash. When Kash was the first of many horses to come up
to the gate, I knew that he was going to be a great horse. Kash is a chestnut brown and his mane and
tail are black, he has a white spot on his forehead and one of his ankles is completely white. The
first of three days I did not ride Kash; however, I did groom him and repeatedly put on and took off
his halter, bridle, and saddle. The purpose of this was for both Kash and I to get comfortable with

He does not want to be controlled so he tests his boundaries, but even if he is not in control the ride

able to have more fun. On rides that I have gone on in the past Kash has been calm and gentle; his
ears are always moving to stay alert, but he drops his head in contentment and in turn I loosen my
hold on the reins. When we go on a trail ride, I always have to look out for Kash and steer him away
from holes or rocks he could get spooked on. Riding is a companionship and you both look out for
one another; Kash listens and keeps me on his back and I steer him in the right direction. I want to

Personal Narrative: How To Ride My Horse
There are many things that I have learned, and many are worth mentioning. One in particular is
when I was learning how to ride my horse. In order to do this you need to have dedication, balance,
and you have to respect the animals. If you don't have these things you won't have a good
connection to your horse, because they can feel your body language and smell your fear, pain, or if
your happy. You're moods are transmitted to them if your nervous then they are also nervous and
you dont want that. I am going to tell you of the time that i've been riding for a few years now, this
was when I was around 8 years old (narration, flashback).
I am in Arizona still, there is nothing around but my house, a few cactuses, and short grass that the
rest of the animals are nibbling on (imagry). My dad walks up to me and says "what's the plan today
jen" he said (dialouge). I say "I was thinking that its a nice day to go for a ride, want to come with?".
"Sure, but lets stay in the pasture today. Why don't you go get the horses and tied to the trailer while
I get ready." he said. (dictation). "Ok" I say and walk out the door, I see a shimmer like something
was running across the feild but I'm not sure I just shrug and continue out to the feild.

Evolution Of Horse Racing

Lineage and Evolution of the Thoroughbred Race Horse
It has been said by an unknown source, "A racehorse is an animal that can take several thousand
people for ride at the same time." So there is no surprise that Thoroughbreds have an interesting
impact on history as their breed has evolved. The thoroughbred lineage has always inspired some
form of curiosity and controversy and that still seems to be the case. The evolution of horse racing in
general has its own forms of heated disputes. However, the answers being sought are more about the
Thoroughbred itself and its story that began so many years ago.
Genuine Thoroughbreds are supposed to be able to trace his or her lineage back to one of the three
main sires: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The high influxes of thoroughbreds were not all quality horses. Some were handicapped or unskilled
racehorses. Breeders would make poor choices and match two unfit horses together; buyers were
fools and simply wanted a way into the racing business. Eventually, it was controlled by the
importation of high quality stallions to breed and race with–Willett (1975).
Before the thoroughbred lineage was even established, the racing fad had already begun. Unlike
today, horse racing wasn't a quick lap around the track. It was a four mile endeavor, run multiple
times, that only the fittest horses could run in; the event was called heat racing. The heat races
would be between two horses and repeated until one horse had won the event twice or 'distanced' the
opponent (Bower et al, 2012).
Not just any horse was allowed to compete in these races. There were serious training programs
each horse had to enter into if they wanted to compete. The first race was in 1666 in England. From
there, the races only became shorter.
In the mid 1700s, the English Thoroughbred began to make its appearance in America. As they were
being imported, the heat racing fad was coming to an end. The classic length races, one to two miles
in length and only run once, replaced the high intensity and high stamina

War Horse Evaluation Essay
War Horse Evaluation
On the 11th of March 2013 I went to see War Horse at the New London Theatre. War Horse is a
novel adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo. The performance I saw was
directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also involved the incredible Handspring Puppet
Company who created all the animals. War Horse is set in Devon in 1914 and is about how a farmer,
Ted Narracott who is played by Jamie Kenna buys a thoroughbred horse rather than a plough
animal, but when his teenage son Albert played by Siôn Daniel Young trains the horse and calls him
Joey, the two becoming inseparable. When his harvest fails, Ted has to sell Joey to the British

For example when the actors were fence posts they held long canes to represent a fence. The horses
responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences, again effectively allowing smooth
transitions.
Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The costumes were authentic
of the early twentieth century and they were effective as they helped set the scene. In Devon people
mostly wore farming clothes and the soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast
that I saw was that The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer's clothes even
when he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard Booth,
Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested to me that despite Joey
being forced to be a 'War Horse' he belonged in Devon.
There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One particular scene in
Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the
trench. The themes that were conveyed here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about
their loved ones which for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend,
Floss. That scene was interesting as it used comedy in contrast to the horror of the war. It started
with a joke of how Floss looked like a horse but then the tension increased again when suddenly
David soldier said to Albert " I put my foot in

Natural Horsemanship
Horsemanship is more than teaching a horse how to behave. As Sylvia Scott stated in her article on
Natural Horsemanship, "Natural Horsemanship, sometimes referred to as 'Horse Whispering,' really
has nothing to do with literal whispering...." Communicating with the horse through the use of your
body language, such as your eyes, the placement of your body, the tone in your voice, pressure you
apply, the amount of release you give, the tools you use, and how you listen to a horse are all factors
in horsemanship. At first I wanted to learn how to properly ride a horse, but having had previous
experience riding them as a kid, I wanted to take it beyond that. With the help of Sunrise Horse

Timing, concentration, dedication, devotion, patience, and respect are some of the many things I
learned while working with horses. This project has taught me how to be respectful because if you
don't respect the horse they won't respect you, and that applies so much in the real world. Patience
has never been one of my strongest suits, I always want things done with quickness and exactitude,
but as I am working with horses all of that seems to change. Learning horsemanship is something
that takes plenty of patience because sometimes the horse won't do what you want it to do and you
can't simply tell it stop and rewind, you have to continue with what you had initially set out to do.
The reason for that being, is that if you stop and rewind then you will confuse the horse and then it
won't know what to do. If someone were to ask me to describe this experience, I would say life
changing. I really recommend people try working with horses because they can help you learn
things about yourself that you never thought you could

The last horse (right) is the Equus Caballus. You can see the difference between them. Differences
Between Horses and Ponies When we think (or hear) the word pony we mostly think of a small
horse. But the truth is that they are two different animals, not they same animal in two different
stages. Here are some differences between horses and ponies.
One difference is the height. A hand is about 4 inches. If you measured a regular sized horse with
hands it would be at least 14.2 hands (or about four feet ten inches). A pony on the other hand, a
regular sized pony equine less than 14.2 hands.
Another difference is there coats. A pony has a thicker coat then a horse. While the hairs of a horse
usually are fine and thin while a pony's hair will provide a thick layer that will make the pony
appear big. That helps the pony stay warm in colder weather.

trying to "win at all costs", they would likely be putting their horse or themselves in danger in order

achieve a faster run, which usually only results in a barrel down and five seconds added to their

our horses health or our own health. I do have to say that i am rarely content watching a barrel race

I have gone on a vast amount of trail rides with several different horse. This ride was the first time I

Edward Island Culture
The ice of the Hillsborough River lies beneath the hooves of fifty teams of draft horses, all moving
simultaneously to pull the sixty foot long building known as St. Andrew's Chapel. The pace is slow,
but steady until the building drops into the water at the channel. Two days, twenty miles, and an
enormous amount of horse power later the oldest Roman Catholic church was set on Charlottetown
soil to be used as a convent school (Bruce 40). As is illustrated in this scene, horses should be
recognized as having an influential role in molding Prince Edward Island's culture. As one of the

There are countless ways to describe the rare "way of life" present on the island, but farming is
essential to an accurate explanation. Although farming remains one of the major industries on Prince
Edward Island today, tourism and other service industries have recently outnumbered it. The future
of farming on the island is very uncertain. Recent trends suggest that the farming industry, like the
horses that started it, will eventually be a minority on Prince Edward Island. However, this does not
mean that Islanders will easily forget their history. Marian Bruce states, "[i]n a sense, Prince Edward
Island's horse society reflected rural life in the rest of Canada, but Islanders kept more horses per
capita, protested more vociferously when the gasoline engine invaded, and clung longer to their
horse–powered way of life," (Bruce 9). The physical aspects of the island may be changing to
remain relevant in the ever evolving world around it, but the culture will remain the same, because
of its strong history. At the center of the island's history is the horse. From miniscule acts, such as
riding through a field, to being the main form of transport for many years, horses have impacted
Prince Edward Island's history and culture everyday for over the past two hundred years. As years
pass and elements of the island change one thing will remain true; Prince Edward Island is its
culture.

This wasn’t just revival Gothic, this was Butterfield revival Gothic and he gave the chapel the
same treatment. Colourful mosaics, tiles and stained glass fill the interior, delighting the senses.
William Holman Hunt’s original famous painting; ‘The light of the World’ hangs in the
adjoining side chapel. Even at the time the designs drew criticism for being over elaborate. A French
visitor thought it was magnificent but better suited as a railway station. St John’s of course hated
it and even set up a secret society that demanded a red brick be stolen from Keble to qualify for
membership. Greater status was given to members who provided a rarer cream brick. The intention
was to cause the college to crumble – time no object. The rivalry between the two colleges
remains. Four Quadrangles and attractive gardens The college consists of four traditional quads:
Pusey, Liddon, Haywood and Newman, along with gardens that have recently had a major
‚Äòmake–over‚Äô. Butterfield had not included any plantings on his original drawings, believing
they would be a distraction from his carefully constructed work. However time and his fading
influence finally gave way to the, not surprising desire, to add a little greenery to the boarders. A
number of significant modern additions have come from cutting edge architects including Rick
Mather. The absolutely fabulous futuristic bar opened in 1977 and is the work of Ahrends, Burton
and Koralek. Keble

Ride Horses Research Paper

  • 1. Ride Horses Research Paper Nervous and excitement are just a few words that describe how I am feeling about riding in my very first recognized show. I have worked hard to get to this point riding my pony who I have had since birth, but am just now able to build a relationship with. You could say that I was bound to ride horses as the love of horses grows in our family. My mom dad met in college wile on the equestrian team. I have a five–year old brother named Garrett, sometimes he be annoying but other times he is as cute as when he was a baby. I have been on a horse since i was 3 months old. I own a Welsh Pony named Gallod Fair Lady and she is 13.2 hands tall. When I was little I was scared to ride her because with her you can not kick her to go you have to lightly ... • 3. Internal Medicine Personal Statement I found myself on the ground tasting dirt within minutes of getting on a horse for the first time. Having apprenticed as a stable hand for the first few weeks of equestrian training, I knew I had grown to love the sport. Fortunately, dignity bruises much easily than the body and though shaken, I wouldn't be deterred. The sheer joy I felt during those short minutes was unparalleled, and I wanted more. Mastering this discipline I realized, demanded a commitment to extensive study and practice. Four months, three falls and a broken wrist later, I qualified for my first equestrian championship. It was during my internship year that I found my niche in Internal Medicine. Fresh out of final year, it was intriguing how illnesses seldom presented as described in textbooks, the classic paroxysm in Malaria being a good case in point. Preexisting co–morbidities and medications served to add another layer of complexity, effectively individualizing every person that presented to the service. Every bedside came with a different set of challenges even if the illness was the same. By the time the shift was over I would have interpreted Pulmonary Function Tests to adjust medications for a 60 year old with emphysema, ruled out dengue in a ... For Ramji, a lower limb amputee of many years, this came in the form of the 'Jaipur Foot' prosthesis. It helped him not only regain mobility, but dignity as well. We worked to bring all stakeholders together and projects like these brought my leadership skills to the fore. His story is one of many others that helped motivate us look beyond conventional patient care to bring about needed change. Its success encouraged me to constructively analyze, evaluate and contribute to formulating policies and processes in my workplace, as long as patients ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Arabian Horse Breed Research Paper The Arabian horse breed is very unique and talented. They can do many different sports, which many of the sports they do are similar to the Quarter horse and Thoroughbred. These sports include: horse racing, English and western pleasure, cutting and reining, jumping, and dressage. The Arabian has an interesting body style which makes them better at certain things (Arabian Horse Association, 2018). The most distinguishing traits that the Arabian breed has are its head, neck, back, and tail. They have a small head compared to most other breeds. They have a small muzzle and large nostrils. Their eyes are large and round with a dark color. Their ears tend to be small and thin with the tips curving inward. The Arabians tend to have long arched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are able to do the dance like moves very gracefully and they look very beautiful when they do this. They truly look like they are dancing when it comes to this. They may be short and have a different look to them than some of the other breeds, but this does not give them any sort of a disadvantage. They are very good at learning the moves in dressage and are very easy to train to do this sport. The neck style of the horse along with their short backs gives them the advantage of the way they look when they move in this sport. The Arabians tails also give them a signature look (White, 2018). The Arabian also is known to be ridden in English and western pleasure riding. This is not necessarily considered to be a sport to some people, but it still takes a lot of work and talent from both the horse and the rider. The Arabian is used in western events such as sometimes rodeo, cutting, and reining. The events that they can compete in at a rodeo is the same as the Thoroughbred and the Quarter horse. The Arabian may have a disadvantage in competing in these events because they are a naturally slower breed and are shorter than most other breeds that compete in rodeo (White, ... • 7. Arabian Horses Research Paper Genetic Abnormalities Common in Arabian Horses Arabian horses have been around for thousands of years, originating in the Arabian Peninsula. They were first bred by the Bedouins to be strong endurance animals, capable of surviving in an unforgiving desert environment (Discover). The Bedouins formed strong bonds with their horses, sharing resources and shelter with their four legged companions. As a result of both their incredible stamina and lifelong loyalty, the Arabian has been remarkably well preserved since their inception (Discover). Today, they are found not only in the Middle East but all over the world. With their trademark dished face, arched neck, and incredible stamina, Arabians are still one of the most popular horse breeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. How Can Horseback Riding Be Considered A Sport A lot of people say horseback riding should not be considered a sport. Most people tend to think that all equestrians do is sit there and allow the horse to do all the work. Equestrian is not only a sport, but a team, a community and a lifestyle. Riding in essence fits the definition of sport, even though many non–equestrian people do not understand why. The definition of sport is, "sports are institutionalized competitive activities that involve rigorous physical exertion or the use of relatively complex physical skills by participants motivated by internal and external motives" (definition from the sports in society textbook). • 15. Little Chino: Linear Horse A miniature horse is a small horse that is less than 34 inches tall from their withers (last hairs of the mane) to the ground. Miniature horses are different from ponies because of their bone structure and temperament. Mini horses are not aggressive versus ponies (Shetlands) seem to always be mean and bite. These horses make great pets especially for small children learning how to ride. I have two miniature horses, which are part of our family. Little Foot was born here and Chino was bought, when my oldest was born. Chino was five years old when we bought him and is now almost 21. Little Chino's real name is Cappuccino, but we call him Chino for short. He has made the biggest impact on our family. Chino is a family member. He is about 34 inches tall and round and fat as he is tall; has a white bushy mane and tail; his thick hair is a dappled grey. The words echoed across the arena, reverberated at an extraordinary volume from the mouth of my gruff trainer, Mindy. I had to assume she meant the words figuratively, since I am not a gymnast. I was sitting on a paint mare called Harley, a volatile horse, preparing to jump a course of fences. Jumping horses is a similar to stacking a house of cards; to succeed you must have every card in perfect alignment, and then you can hope no one breathes. Creating perfection is almost inevitable, the rider's equation may be the textbook ideal, but their effectiveness over the horse is insignificant. Every summer I would go to a horse camp, called Bunker Hills and I would spend almost everyday there. I loved being around all the horses and being able to interact with them. We would ride every day and when we were done, we would go learn facts about the horses. I fell in love with the environment, the freedom, and the horses. I wanted more of it. I could not simply get enough. In March 2010, my parents decided to find another horse for me to ride. I was no longer going to Bunker Hills and I started to ride my dad's friends horse. My dad friend ran out of time to do lessons with me. I was not able to ride. When March came my parents went horse searching to find a horse I could ride. They finally came across this sweet horse named Lucie and that month I started doing lessons on her. This horse was so special to me, I treated like she was mine and only mine. She was in away my parents leased her. I never felt so happy in my life. Lucie changed me. She taught me to be confident in myself, and to have compassion for others. • 29. Research Paper On Horse The horse (Equus ferus caballus)[2][3] is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. It is an odd– toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi–toed creature, Eohippus, into the large, single–toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC. Horses in the subspecies caballus are domesticated, although some domesticated populations live in the wild as feral horses. These feral populations are not true wild horses, as this term is used to describe horses that have never been domesticated, such as the endangered Przewalski's horse, a separate subspecies, and the only remaining true wild horse. There is an extensive, specialized vocabulary used to describe equine–related concepts, covering everything from anatomy to life stages, size, colors, markings, breeds, locomotion, and behavior. Horses' anatomy enables them to make use of speed to escape predators and they have a well– developed sense of balance and a strong fight–or–flight response. Related to this need to flee from predators in the wild is an unusual trait: horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down. Female horses, called mares, carry their young for ... On Monday the 21st of September I went to see the play 'War Horse' at the New London Theatre. The play was directed by Marianne Elliot and Tom Morris and is written about the novel 'War Horse' by Michael Morpurgo. The play is about a horse, Joey. He is sold to the English cavalry and is shipped off to France were we serves in WW1. His owner, Albert desperate not to lose Joey, enlists in the army despite the fact that he is under aged. Albert embarks on a treacherous journey on a quest to find Joey. The play is based upon the horse's perspectives and views. War Horse is trying to emphasis the strong brutality of war, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A stylised moment was when Joey met the tank during the war scene; this moment was very intense as Joey was faced with a huge big tank that he cannot compete against. It shows the old technology in this case the horse meeting the new technology the tank. As Joey meets the tank he screams and gallops fast past the tank, while doing so Joey breaths rapidly. This is shown when the actors controlling the horse move the stomach inwards and out. There is a use of strobe lighting effects into the audience to make them feel Joey's fear and panic that he is going through. In addition there is loud classical music playing in the background to intensify the emotions that the horse is going through. When Joey is first faced with the tank he runs, this is shown by the clever use of the revolve. The use of juxtapositioning occurs here, as it shows the old warfare facing the new warfare. The death of Major Nicholls is also a much stylised moment as it involves physicalisation. With great timing other actors moves Major Nicholls's body to perform a summersault as he falls to his death. Another reason why this moment is a symbolic moment in the play is because as he falls to his death he breaks his promise with Albert. As Albert got to say his last goodbyes to Joey, Major Nicholls promised Albert that Joey will be in good hands, and that he will take care of him. The industry has endured bashing from the animal rights groups that claim commercial dog racing is cruel and that many retired and slow dogs are wantonly destroyed (Mitch Stacy, 2007). Ideally, all dogs should be adopted instead of being euthanized. However, if all dogs were to be adopted as suggested by the animal rights group, the numbers would just be too many and it's unrealistic. Apart from those that are being adopted or euthanized, a number of dogs have been gone 'missing' from the industry every year. Animal rights group believe that these dogs were being mistreated and killed inhumanely. To prevent this from happening, the new technology provides more accurate ways to identify dogs. Dogs are now implanted with microchip for identification. Through scanning the unique code by a reader, data including the dog's health history, weight, breed, owner etc could all be seen clearly. This is much more reliable than the old system of using ear brands, which is far more difficult to read, and could stop any attempts to modify the dog's weight, ability and identity, thus ensuring that they are not being mistreated (Dr John F Newell, 2006). The high influxes of thoroughbreds were not all quality horses. Some were handicapped or unskilled racehorses. Breeders would make poor choices and match two unfit horses together; buyers were fools and simply wanted a way into the racing business. Eventually, it was controlled by the importation of high quality stallions to breed and race with–Willett (1975). Before the thoroughbred lineage was even established, the racing fad had already begun. Unlike today, horse racing wasn't a quick lap around the track. It was a four mile endeavor, run multiple times, that only the fittest horses could run in; the event was called heat racing. The heat races would be between two horses and repeated until one horse had won the event twice or 'distanced' the opponent (Bower et al, 2012). Not just any horse was allowed to compete in these races. There were serious training programs each horse had to enter into if they wanted to compete. The first race was in 1666 in England. From there, the races only became shorter. In the mid 1700s, the English Thoroughbred began to make its appearance in America. As they were being imported, the heat racing fad was coming to an end. The classic length races, one to two miles in length and only run once, replaced the high intensity and high stamina ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. War Horse Evaluation Essay War Horse Evaluation On the 11th of March 2013 I went to see War Horse at the New London Theatre. War Horse is a novel adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo. The performance I saw was directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also involved the incredible Handspring Puppet Company who created all the animals. War Horse is set in Devon in 1914 and is about how a farmer, Ted Narracott who is played by Jamie Kenna buys a thoroughbred horse rather than a plough animal, but when his teenage son Albert played by Siôn Daniel Young trains the horse and calls him Joey, the two becoming inseparable. When his harvest fails, Ted has to sell Joey to the British cavalry and he is shipped to France where, after a disastrous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example when the actors were fence posts they held long canes to represent a fence. The horses responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences, again effectively allowing smooth transitions. Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The costumes were authentic of the early twentieth century and they were effective as they helped set the scene. In Devon people mostly wore farming clothes and the soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast that I saw was that The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer's clothes even when he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard Booth, Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested to me that despite Joey being forced to be a 'War Horse' he belonged in Devon. There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One particular scene in Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the trench. The themes that were conveyed here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about their loved ones which for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend, Floss. That scene was interesting as it used comedy in contrast to the horror of the war. It started with a joke of how Floss looked like a horse but then the tension increased again when suddenly David soldier said to Albert " I put my foot in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Sylvia Scott stated in her article on Natural Horsemanship, "Natural Horsemanship, sometimes referred to as 'Horse Whispering,' really has nothing to do with literal whispering...." Communicating with the horse through the use of your body language, such as your eyes, the placement of your body, the tone in your voice, pressure you apply, the amount of release you give, the tools you use, and how you listen to a horse are all factors in horsemanship. At first I wanted to learn how to properly ride a horse, but having had previous experience riding them as a kid, I wanted to take it beyond that. With the help of Sunrise Horse Rescue's Mary Taylor, my senior project would not only provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Timing, concentration, dedication, devotion, patience, and respect are some of the many things I learned while working with horses. This project has taught me how to be respectful because if you don't respect the horse they won't respect you, and that applies so much in the real world. Patience has never been one of my strongest suits, I always want things done with quickness and exactitude, but as I am working with horses all of that seems to change. Learning horsemanship is something that takes plenty of patience because sometimes the horse won't do what you want it to do and you can't simply tell it stop and rewind, you have to continue with what you had initially set out to do. The reason for that being, is that if you stop and rewind then you will confuse the horse and then it won't know what to do. If someone were to ask me to describe this experience, I would say life changing. I really recommend people try working with horses because they can help you learn things about yourself that you never thought you could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. But the truth is that they are two different animals, not they same animal in two different stages. Here are some differences between horses and ponies. One difference is the height. A hand is about 4 inches. If you measured a regular sized horse with hands it would be at least 14.2 hands (or about four feet ten inches). A pony on the other hand, a regular sized pony equine less than 14.2 hands. Another difference is there coats. A pony has a thicker coat then a horse. While the hairs of a horse usually are fine and thin while a pony's hair will provide a thick layer that will make the pony appear big. That helps the pony stay warm in colder weather. • 71. Barrel Racing Essay I would say I am neither a jock, nor a puke. I Barrel race, which I consider a sport, and I can be very competitive at times, but it is definitely not a "Win at all costs" attitude. To me, if a barrel racer is trying to "win at all costs", they would likely be putting their horse or themselves in danger in order to attempt a faster run. A lot of barrel racers also get unreasonably close to the barrels to try and achieve a faster run, which usually only results in a barrel down and five seconds added to their time. Barrel racers kick and push our reins forward to pick up speed but it is nothing that endangers our horses health or our own health. This trail ride will not ever be able to forget. I have been riding horses for just about 7 years. My horses D. D. and I have been working together for 2 of those years and I have never had a problem with her ever. She is the most calm horse I have ever owned and worked with. Sometimes, with out a saddle or even a bridal and reins, I will run up to her and hop on her back and she doesn't spook at all. I can even put a complete stranger up to her and she will rub her head on them. She also is a junk food junky and will eat any thing from chips to crab rangoon shells to honey & apples, but she won't eat celery because that's just to healthy. One day my horse leader called and ask if I would like to go on a over night trail ride with her and a few other people and I was excited to go. So when the day can we loaded up D. Edward Island Culture The ice of the Hillsborough River lies beneath the hooves of fifty teams of draft horses, all moving simultaneously to pull the sixty foot long building known as St. Andrew's Chapel. The pace is slow, but steady until the building drops into the water at the channel. Two days, twenty miles, and an enormous amount of horse power later the oldest Roman Catholic church was set on Charlottetown soil to be used as a convent school (Bruce 40). As is illustrated in this scene, horses should be recognized as having an influential role in molding Prince Edward Island's culture. As one of the first animals brought to the island, horses were necessary to live and were therefore needed for a large portion of daily activities. Without the usage of equine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are countless ways to describe the rare "way of life" present on the island, but farming is essential to an accurate explanation. Although farming remains one of the major industries on Prince Edward Island today, tourism and other service industries have recently outnumbered it. The future of farming on the island is very uncertain. Recent trends suggest that the farming industry, like the horses that started it, will eventually be a minority on Prince Edward Island. However, this does not mean that Islanders will easily forget their history. Marian Bruce states, "[i]n a sense, Prince Edward Island's horse society reflected rural life in the rest of Canada, but Islanders kept more horses per capita, protested more vociferously when the gasoline engine invaded, and clung longer to their horse–powered way of life," (Bruce 9). The physical aspects of the island may be changing to remain relevant in the ever evolving world around it, but the culture will remain the same, because of its strong history. At the center of the island's history is the horse. From miniscule acts, such as riding through a field, to being the main form of transport for many years, horses have impacted Prince Edward Island's history and culture everyday for over the past two hundred years. As years pass and elements of the island change one thing will remain true; Prince Edward Island is its culture. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Keble was founded in 1870 in memory of John Keble, who was passionate about promoting and reclaiming the Catholic heritage of the Church of England. Fellow enthusiasts were known as Tractarians (or The Oxford Movement) and it was they that funded the college with the twin aims of ecclesiastical reform and an express desire of making a first rate Oxford education more widely available.
