Fight Club Conformity Analysis
Conformity Conformity is a major theme in Fight Club, and there are a number of specific scenes that display the
rejection of it and characters falling victim to it, sometimes unbeknownst to them. The Narrator, our main
character, is a complex individual. He fits into almost every textbook example of social psychology. He is a
complete nutcase. In fact, he is so incredibly insane, that he creates an imaginary friend with whom he transforms
himself into a different person, free from the bonds of society, free from conformity, free to change the way he
lives. Or does he? The film starts off with the Narrator losing sleep, for what reason we aren't sure. He then
proceeds to tell us how he lived his life. He works a 9 to 5 job in a cubicle ... Show more content on

Are they rejecting social norms as well? Or has this fight club in turn become the norm, and therefore members are
joining it to fit in? Perhaps it is a case of minority influence, when a few influence the many. Tyler and the
Narrator have held the same viewpoint for a while now, months even, that they do not care about clever art or
Swedish furniture, and they are comfortable admitting that they have scars from fighting. With this unwavering
view, others start to take notice, and even begin to respect their ideology. They join fight club to become loyal
members. After a while, Tyler decides that they have to expand or "move out of the basement," and hence creates
Project Mayhem. People do not always cave into peer pressure. If that is true, then when do we break? When do
we give in and conform? According to Bibb Penis Latané's social impact theory, it all depends on three specific
factors: strength, how important the group is to you; immediacy, how close the group is to you in space and time;
and the number of people in the group. The last factor operates differently than you might think however–the
larger a group is, the less each additional person has an influence on others. Ever since starting the first fight club,
Norton's character has garnered such a reputation that he has gained a following. People start showing up on his
doorstep,

Fight Club Analysis
Fight Club "There is enough on earth for everybody's need, but not for everyone's greed." Mahatma Gandhi This
quote fits perfectly on me. Even though I have enough clothes to last an entire lifetime, yet I keep finding myself
at the mall, buying things I simple do not need at all. And I am not the only one, millions of people is doing the
same thing. It is because we need certain things: we desire different certain things. Now what is that problem
called? Consumerism. Modern society is based on different things. But one of those things, consumerism, has been
growing majorly over the past couple of decades, mainly in America. Americans consume exponentially more than
any other country in the world and are the leaders in waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fight club is a "cult" how was invented by the narrator and Tyler; "I want you to do me a favour; I want you to hit
me as hard as you can "(book p.52). At first the narrator is withdrawn but Tyler explains about self–destruction.
After the first few punch, they are aching for more, and want to see how long they can go. This is the start of fight
club. They get a basement where they can fight, and the narrator and Tyler make the seven rules of fight club. The
most important rule is that "...you don't talk about fight club". For the narrator the fight meant he could go back to
his life, do the things that matter. Fight club is way for men to get of their daily lives, out of the consuming
lifestyle. In fight club they can beat at each other without norms and normal society rules. These men were raised
to hide their aggression. They are the so call generation X – they were raised by women, abandon of father figures.
With fight club in the narrators' life now, everything seems to for filed. The fight club is the most important thing
in his life; it's all he can think about. Fight club takes over his concerns about his appearance, his job, and the need
to make himself more masculine. With Marla back in the picture, after her attempt suicide, Tyler pays less
attention to the narrator and the narrator is also faced with some of his own problems again. Tylers main

Distinguishing Fantasy from Reality: Comparison Essay...
Don DeLillo's book, White Noise, tells the story of Jack Gladney and his family. Throughout the book, Jack takes
on a professional, fictional persona resembling that of Hitler, being the Chairman of Hitler Studies at the College–
on–the–Hill (DeLillo 4). Jack turns his professional persona into this fictional character, something he could
transform himself into, as if he was filling a Hitler mold. Jack relies on this Hitler–esque persona to sustain his
own personal identity and self–worth, although in his mind, this fake persona is only subsidiary to his own
personality. Jack struggles with ascertaining the importance of himself as compared to the importance of his own
made–up persona and this notion of fabricated reality becoming more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack's two identities and his using his fake persona to bolster his own identity can be compared with the movie
Fight Club. In the film, Edward Norton plays the narrator of the movie, an unnamed, insomniac office worker. He
unknowingly creates a second persona, Tyler Durden, and he sees Tyler as a completely separate person.
Throughout the movie, Norton slowly begins to transform his dull, meek life to mirror that of Tyler's, although he
does not yet see that he is in fact Tyler. The idea presented by The Most Photographed Barn in America is
presented in Fight Club when Norton states, "Everything's a copy of a copy of a copy" (Fincher). Norton's
character lives a very dull, monotone life. Everything from his speech, his work, and his living conditions are very
bland and boring. When he begins attending support groups to validate his own personal pains by using the pain of
others as a crutch, he forms a hatred for Marla Singer because her lie reflected his own lie of not actually having
something wrong with him as everyone else in the various support groups. After he develops an addiction to
support groups, he states that "If I didn't say anything, people always assumed the worst" (Fincher). He is letting
people come to their own conclusions while not having to outwardly lie to them, simply letting everyone else
assume the lie for him.
Much like how J.A.K. Gladney's personality vastly differs from Jack's,

Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy Draper...
Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy Draper were three extraordinary women who pioneered
the field we know today as interior decorating. All three of these women grew up in high societies, which gave
them an excellent understanding of the rich, the famous and their expensive tastes. De Wolfe, McMillen, and
Draper all had prominent careers from the mid 1800's until the early to mid 1900's. Most of their work was for the
rich and famous in American high societies. Elsie de Wolfe was born in New York City in 1865. Although said to
be an ugly little girl, from a young age she wowed people with her amazing sense style in clothing. She was a
professional actress and was given the unique privilege to choose her own wardrobe for most of her roles. By
1877, de Wolfe had settled into a Boston Marriage –two women living together independent of men– and
redecorated the house she shared with Elisabeth Marbury, another high society woman. It was after this
redecoration that Elsie de Wolfe decided to go into business as a professional decorator. Eleanor McMillen Brown
was born in 1890 in St. Louis, Missouri. After studying three years at Parsons in both New York and Paris, she
attended business and secretarial school stating, "I thought if I was going to do it all, I better do it professionally"
(Vogel, New York Times). Rather than working from her living room like most of her piers at the time, she paid
$13,000 and opened up an office for herself off of East 55th Street

Computer Cardio Equipment : Building Health Club
Conveniently located opposite the Parkmore Shopping Centre and next to Chemist Warehouse, Keysborough has
created the Re–creation Health Club that offers a friendly welcoming environment and has an easy access to the
car park. Launched back in 2009, the Keysborough gym expands over two levels and now offers the experience to
improve the customers' health and motivation. The Re–Creation Health Clubs renovations are now complete
bringing a new Keysborough gym with a fresh new design, a new attitude to fitness and sets a new standard for
health and fitness in the community. Complete with an incipient plenarily equipped gym, pristinely incipient state

The project management that I would consider using for the Re–creation Health Club at Keysborough that
improves the customer service is the agile project management. Not only has the staff treated their customers with
communication but also the layout structure that represented to the customers. So with the way the structure shown
in Re–creation Health Club, there has been inventory equipment lying around which can cause customers to trip
over and may result in injury. This can create a bad habit that can bring the business down if there is a continuation
of angry customers. The equipment at the gym will be fragile for some of them. The staff should tend to replace
with new equipment every year to prevent it to rust. So to add value towards the local gym at Keysborough, the
manager should assign the tasks towards the employees for delivering high–quality work. Agile Project
Management is about embracing change, even tardy in the development stage. It's about providing the
requirements firstly with the business value, and then having the real–time information to control time, scope and
cost.
Agile Project Management reduces intricacy by breaking down the many–months–long cycle of building requisites
for the entire project, building the product and then testing to find hundreds of product imperfections. Instead

Promotional Strategy: The main and most important factor in having a successful affiliate is creating a strong
crossfit community for all who work out in the gym. That is how the promotional strategies should be used.Tools
for such work are various and should be focused on making people want to join a community of like minded
people who are committed to living a healthy lifestyle and enjoying a quality of life. The great thing about
promoting crossfit is that none of the regular promotion strategies are ones that would really apply to using the
model as a way of getting people interested. Community builidng cannot be put onto a fancy flyer or catchy ad.
The community must be built inside the gym as well as have a profile within the community. These two things will
lead to people who are members of the gym spreading the word about our affiliate and getting their friends to join
the gym. Since this would be a startup, it would be important to create awareness of what crossfit is and why it is
done. The effort would have to be made to arrange to demonstrate to people how the program can change their
approach to fitness. This could be done by finding people and friends that are in good shape to go out and work out
with them. Get them to try the crossfit methodology and see how they feel. The second approach would be to get

Essay On Fitness Club
You would like to join a fitness club but there are so many choices! And then you will just end up having a
headache! Fitness clubs are effective motivators. They should motivate us and not frustrate us. Before you choose
on a fitness club, make sure that it suits your needs and goals. And before you do that, you should first learn and
decide on what is your priority. By then, you will know what you really need in a fitness club. Here are some
guidelines you can consider in choosing a fitness club that is best for you:
1. Where is it located?
The location is the first thing that you should consider when finding a fitness club. If the club is far from your
home, you will just another excuse not to work out. It is best to find a facility that ... Show more content on

If you see a lot of "out of order" signs, it could be something to think about. Modern equipments are safer and
more comfortable to use, so you may also want to consider that. Are the floors cleaned regularly to avoid
accidents? Is there enough room for everyone? Also check if the facility is located in a place away from danger,
consider also if the location is well lit.
6. Are the members of the club friendly and can they be your friends?
The fitness club is also a venue for social interaction. Take time to drop by and meet the members of the club
before you enroll. Other members can be your buddies in the near future and should be considered.
7. What is the schedule of classes and will they be convenient for you?
Find out what classes are offered at a specific time and consider if you will be available at the schedules given.
8. How much would it cost you?
It is important to know the monthly membership fee and what it covers. Some fitness clubs have hidden charges
and you should be keen in checking that. Check if they have promotions or discounts and do they offer services at
an extra fee. It is also important to know how long the club has been and how often they increase rates.
9. How is it different from other fitness

Robespierre and the Reign of Terror
Twenty thousand to forty thousand died; it is still unknown exactly how many people were lost through the blood
drenching event of the Reign of Terror.[Footnote] Throughout the French revolution, specifically the eleven
month, 1793–1794 Reign of Terror, revolutionary leaders, such as Maximilien Robespierre believed in enforcing
fear to resolve the instability of France. "Terror is nothing else than swift, severe, indomitable justice; it flows,
then, from virtue"–Maximilien Robespierre.[Footnote] This period in history signified great atrocities of
massacres, and a time where fear was evoked within every French civilian. The National Convention of France

It was also believed that Danton had turned against the revolution. Danton was tried and executed, leaving
Robespierre with more power than ever before. He was now the sole leader of the Reign of Terror; it was blatantly
obvious he was the most feared man in all of France.
Robespierre was the main person to implement the laws he put forth.[Footnote] He believed in solving all his
problems through violence. Those who were born to a particular family, having certain opinions, or simply being
at the wrong place at the wrong time, would fall victim to him. Although Robespierre was obsessed with violence,
he never actually performed acts himself, unless assured he would succeed, he'd have other people to do his work
for him. The most common device used to punish people was the guillotine. Robespierre used other methods at
times; he'd burn, hack, stab, shoot, and even cannonade a person. Those he objected, or had been his enemy would
soon be imprisoned, and eventually executed. He was relentless and ordered people dead with no trial, killing
people without proving or even knowing if they were truly "guilty". He believed the mass murders he was
responsible for were justified.
If the spring of popular government in time of peace is virtue, the springs of popular government in revolution are
at once virtue and terror: virtue, without which terror is fatal;

The generation of today has a lot of focus on leisure and off–time. They are looking for ways to escape their
everyday lives and let loose. Whether that is dancing to new age music, having a few cocktails, or dining out with
reasonably priced food. A nightclub can provide all these accommodations, and is the perfect venue to open up is
done with some thoughtful planning. There are some important elements to consider. Location is always a key
element. A new venue such as a nightclub needs to be accessible to the masses. This could be off a highly traveled
road, close to a major recreation center, or in a newly developed city center. Reasonably priced food and drinks are

There are no professional sports teams or other high energy activities around. A nightclub can provide this activity.
By offering more than alcoholic drinks, the club will bring in a wider variety of people. They will be providing
games such as video games, pool and shuffleboard for additional entertainment and appeal to people not there just
to drink. The food in the club will be affordable and appeal to many. There is your typical bar food such as hot
wings, nachos and burgers, as well as moderately priced entrees. In addition to the amenities, the service will be
key. There will be friendly high energy staff available to create a comfortable environment. Having a high staff to
customer ratio will improve the service in the club.
The target audience the nightclub is aiming at is well designed. They are appealing to childless young
professionals, college students, tourists and business travelers. This is typically the type of people who enjoy
clubbing, eating out and like to drink alcohol. It is also a demographic that is growing. According to the market

atmosphere is created, business should grow.

Should I Be An Avid Concert Goer And All Around Explorer
Growing up as a wanderess, one would think that I would have mastered the art of clubbing. However, that
couldn't be any further than the truth. While I might be an avid concert goer and all around explorer, why would I
ever engage in clubbing? I don't drink and the thought of standing in a dark room with strangers with no purpose
seemed odd to me. Truthfully, the closest I have ever had to a "club" like experience would be the horrific house
party of '12. Needless to say, that was enough to cement my belief that it would be unenjoyable. Sitting around
Friday afternoon with no plans yet set in stone, suggesting that we go out for "girls' night" later that evening via
group chat seemed perfectly normal. Bouncing ideas off each other, I brought up the idea of wanting to check out a
club. Apparently that caught everyone off guard; instantly the conversation died and I was greeted with several
phone calls asking whether or not I was okay and 'how long I had left'.
Anyone who knows me knows that while I may love concerts I simply view clubbing as Prom minus chaperones.
If you could not tell, I was not fond of the idea of prom either and so opted out. It is not that I am prude of any sort
but what is the point of spending hours in line just to enter a dark room only to be grinded on and groped by
strangers?
Once I thoroughly reassured everyone that I was in my right state of mind, preparations for that evening began.
Frankly speaking I never realized how much time and

Walmart as well as looking at Walmart's strategic management perspectives and what type of impact and
influences they have on the external forces in the industry. While also focusing on Walmart's concept of value
creation applied to SBD (sustainable business development) and their strategies.
Defining
Sustainable business philosophies are a system of fundamental or motivating principles that a business handles in
different areas of operation based on the actions or beliefs of that business. "For businesses to have a sound
business philosophy is the cornerstone of a successful business" (Burney, n.d). The businesses philosophy is
usually the company's mission and vision statement, which explains the company's overall goals and their purpose
of being in business (Burney, n.d.). Mission statements are a guide for a company to develop and implement a
corporate sustainability strategy and are usually incorporated in a company's sustainability report (Epstein &
Buhovac, 2014). Sustainable business practices are when a business initiates environmentally–friendly operations
internally and externally to become a sustainable organization and to reduce their environmental footprint by
cutting down on waste (Belcher, n.d.).

Wal–Mart Stores Inc, is the largest retailer in the world with a bullseye on its back from competitors taking aim in
all different directions from supermarkets cutting prices to match Wal–Mart's price, to Costco leading the
warehouse market and online retailer beating out Wal–Mart.com. In addition, 2008 brings an economic slowdown
and a reduction of feet through the doors of Wal–Mart Stores. Added to this, Wal–Mart has received negative
publicity relating to employee compensation and benefits, forcing suppliers to cut prices which result in jobs
moving from the US overseas to meet the demands of Wal–Mart and moving into areas putting locally owned
retail outlets out of business. Wal–Mart has over 6,8001 stores worldwide with a strong internet presence with a

departments including pharmacy, grocery, hard and soft goods, electronics, pet, health and beauty and more.
Wal–Mart uses a limited advertising budget at a cost of "about .3% of sales revenue compared to 1.5% for Kmart
and 2.3% for Target." In addition, "Wal–Mart's spending for radio and TV advertising was said to be so low that it
didn't register on national rating scales."2 Interesting, Wal–Mart keeps advertising low by "clustering new stores in

operation costs by moving to cloud computing. As the data and information stored is small and also most of the
hardware or applications are leased or bought from outside it is expensive. If it moved to cloud computing it can
save lot of money and reduce operations on the organizations.

President Roosevelt's National Parks And Preservation...
As President Mckinley condition stabilized, post being shot, Vice–President Theodore Roosevelt embarked to view
the vastness of nature in the less developed west. His trip was cut short, as he got word that Mckinley's condition
had turned for the worse. Mckinley was pronounced dead September 14, 1901; subsequently, Roosevelt was sworn
into the presidency, along with his progressive views. Although this was not the start of the conservation and
preservation movements, extended from the late 19th through the early 20th century, it was a major step for the
movement as Roosevelt had empathy for activists and nature. The combination of a movement and a president
who was willing to move resulted in five national parks and 18 national monuments being established by the end
of Roosevelt's presidency. After the establishment of these parks, the lands were to be preserved by federal
government, but the political and economical agendas of those opposed to the conservation and preservation
movements still endangered the pristine land. The fact that it took a president to get assassinated, before any
serious legislative help came to aid the conservation and preservation movements. If the movement came in a more
populated group, which could agree on how save the environment around us, then it wouldn't have taken this
mishap to get the ball rolling. The battle for Hetch Hetchy highlighted the different views within the movement, all
in favor of environmental protection. Years later

Read Ch. 7's Leadership Case Problem A – "Ray, The Empowered Athletic Club Director" pp. 242–243. Analyze
Questions 1–3. 1. How effective is Larry's approach to empowering Ray to boost enrollment?
I would say that Larry's approach to empowering Ray to boost enrollment wasn't effect at all. Larry told Ray, "Ray
you are empowered as the manager to boost enrollment working within your advertising budget. Boosting
enrollment is your responsibility, not mine...." With that being said I would say that isn't much of an empowerment
speech or boost. He should have given him some ideas of how to get more people in because it was clear that Ray

3. What might Larry do to help Ray boost enrollment, within the limits of empowerment?
The only thing I think Larry could do to help Ray boost enrollment, within the limits of empowerment, would be
to give Ray some guidance. The best thing to do is to point Ray in the correct direction, if not telling him exactly
what to do but give him ideas of what he should possibly to do boost enrollment.
Read Ch. 8's Leadership Case Problem B – "Maya the Manipulator" pp. 273–274. Analyze Questions 1–4. 1. In
what specific ways is Maya being a manipulator?
There are two specific ways that Maya is being a manipulator in this case problem. The first way is with the sales
rep from New Jersey, Ivan. She manipulated him into spending a bunch of time on getting one contract signed by
telling him that he could get a double bonus. When Ivan invested all his time into this contract. He noticed that he
got based the regular amount of a bonus. When he confronted Maya about it she brushed it off and said "she told
him that he could be eligible but did not imply a guarantee." The second situation has to do with the sales rep from
Chicago, Courtney. Courtney was in a meeting when she stated that she had the best last year and then was asked
if she would credit Maya with her biggest individual sale. When Courtney didn't want to Maya try to manipulate
her by reminding her that

The Effects of Modernity on Identity in Fight Club
The Effects of Modernity on Identity in Fight Club Identity is a definition of the self, an explanation of character.
However, in the movie Fight Club, the components that comprise outward identity often prove to be transitory.
Edward Norton's "Jack" character asks, "If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up
as a different person?" The effects of modernity lead to the impermanence of self image, and the decay of identity.
Rather than having a true identity, "Jack" is called a "byproduct of a lifestyle obsession." He bases personal worth
upon what he owns. It is this materialistic consumerism that steals individuality. How can a concrete identity be
established when its value assessment is based upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fight club offered the release of pure, unadulterated pain, without emotional repercussion. Most of the men
had almost been rendered non–existent in the busy world, but they embraced their anonymity and used names less
and less, until their anonymity afforded them the ability to go out and commit random vandalistic or violent acts
without feeling individually responsible. They took on a mob mentality, and used their new sense of identity as a
part of the whole to cope with this anonymity and feel more like men. The effects of modernity, such as these class
conflicts, and consumer cultures, all contributed to the lack of masculinity that fueled this group to prove their
worth as men. It is true that modernity has serious debilitating effects, and it nearly sucked the life and identity
from each of the men of fight club. They became inspired to feel real pain, since many of them had not felt
anything for a long time. Monotony overcame their lives and took over their feeling of individuality. They became
part of a modern machine that they were all too comfortable with. The advent of fight club proved to be the spark
that the men needed to rebel against modernity and ultimately overcome its debilitating effects. By the end of the
film, when it is confirmed to the audience that Tyler Durden is indeed Edward Norton's character (or at least his
ideal side of it) it shows what kind of identity

Responsibilities And Responsibilities Of Sports Club
i. The responsibilities and risks of sport clubs
Any organization in any field has some rules and responsibilities to follow, sport organization is one of them and
they have many policies to save people's rights. We will mention the most important duties and talk about them in
details. 1. Safe society for the members
Dangers that are characteristic in a sport activity that happen in the ordinary course of a game seldom give rise to a
claim of an inattention. Be that as it may, dangers that are not characteristic in the sport, that represent an
unreasonable danger of threat, that emerge out of a ponder disregard for the guidelines of the sport and that can
generally be anticipated might be the premise of carelessness, and are correctly the dangers that should be
overseen. Carelessness and obligation are legitimate terms with exact legal meaning.

To avoid the risk we have to know the causes of the risk, which is not easy to identify the exact risks, which
harmed the organization. There are some reasons we think they could cause the risk, the most important cause
could be the governance, since the system of the government changes yearly, which may affect the progress of the
clubs. Secondly, which is one of the most popular problem is the financial statement. Many clubs bankrupted due
to a financial crisis, and there are many other reasons that caused them to be in a financial crisis. Furthermore, the
member services which the management of the club should do them, as we know today how the salaries and grans
is risen all over the world, which can not be afforded. In addition, the facilities and the equipment play a big role
about this issue. Lastly, the social events side, which the club do it for the fans of the club to attract them,

students can talk with businesses and companies to discuss potential job opportunities and internships. The week
leading up to this event, I didn't think there would be much to offer since I'm just an Agriculture Education major.
Later that week, some speakers from Land O' Lakes spoke in one of my classes to inform us on what their business

marketing case study about chestnut ridge country...
Chestnut ridge country club has a distinguished reputation as an outstanding country club in the Elma Tennessee
area in too many different aspects. The club is facing a decline in the number of membership applicants relative to
the competing clubs in the same area. A survey that done by the researchers on the members of the clubs of the
same area shows some weakness in the chestnut ridge country club which may cause the declination such as the
management, food prices, the quality of tennis courts, as I will explain later. Trying to keep or increase the number
of applicants some marketing and managerial steps need to be taken, like commercial steps, change in the
membership policies, run some promotions, etc.

tennis courts. None of the competitors has a known marketing plan and the number of subscribers is the major

expect most of the members are golf players and males and in the high twenties and up and attends the golf

Chestnut ridge country clubs has a good reputation due to the board of directors that are watching the club and

Due to the market; bargains were more important to consumers. Fifty–six of Costco warehouses exceeded $200
million in sales in fiscal 2010, and two of these units each did more than $300 million. This rate of revenue is
highly attributable to the strong entrepreneurial culture that encourages its employees and management's teams to
be creative and contribute new ideas to allow the company to constantly evolve and improve. It has been well
publicized that Costco rewards and compensates its employees well. It is a well oiled machine that reciprocates its
success with its customers and employees.
Industry Overview
The US warehouse club and superstore industry includes about 20 companies; however the major competitors that
Costco faces are Sam 's Club (owned by Wal–Mart), BJ's Wholesale Club, and Meijer. The club superstore
industry is so competitive that these four companies alone hold over 90 percent of sales. These superstores are able
to offer competitive pricing because as large companies they can offer a wide selection of products and have
purchasing, distribution, marketing, and financing advantages. Due to low margins, the profitability of these
individual superstore companies depends on high volume sales and efficient operations. This is where Costco has
been able to succeed and set itself aside from the competitors.

Problem Statement:
Long ago, fitness clubs used to be a place where people make visit solely for the purpose of health improvement
and nothing more. However, such purpose is no longer valid anymore in today's dynamic world. In fact, many of
the people today, primarily the young adults, are patronizing fitness clubs in a group of friends instead of being

findings from the respondents and drawing conclusion out of the research.
In completing the research within the specified time frame, introduction of the fitness service and the formation of
the theories will be completed in the first month, July 2009. On the second month, August 2009, questionnaire will
be developed and distributed to the 300 target respondents and research methodology will be compiled. On the
third month (September, 2009), summation of the research findings will take place and conclusion of the research
can be drawn out from the findings. Despite the fact that the research will be of four–month process as prescribed
by the requirements of MGT400, this research is forecasted to be completed in three month's time, a month in
advance before the due date as outlined above.
Significance of Study:
Throughout this research project, various new insights toward fitness offerings today can be learned and absorbed
to one's knowledge. And this is particularly relevant to those who are about to work in the fitness industry. In
addition, valuable experience can be gained by exercising the marketing research knowledge learned.

Cost Leadership For The Generation Of Revenue
What is cost leadership? Describe the role of cost leadership in the generation of revenue. Use Walmart as a case
study and apply the construct of cost leadership. The goal of a cost–leadership strategy is to reduce the firm's cost
below that of its competitors. The cost leader, as the name implies, focuses its attention and resources on reducing
the cost at which it is able to offer a product or service (and still make a profit in the long term). The cost leader
optimizes all of its value chain activities to achieve a low–cost position. Although staking out the lowest–cost
position in the industry is the overriding strategic objective, a cost leader still needs to offer products and services
of acceptable value. Firms do not have to sacrifice revenue to be the cost leader since high revenue is achieved
through obtaining a large market share (Porter, 1979, 1987, 1996; Hooley et al., 2004; Bauer and Colgan, 2001;
Hackett, 1996; Reid et al., 1993). Lower prices lead to higher demand and, therefore, to a larger market share
(Helms et al., 1997). As a low cost leader, an organization can present barriers against new market entrants who
would need large amounts of capital to enter the market (Hyatt, 2001). The leader then is somewhat insulated from
industry wide price reductions (Porter, 1980; Hlavacka et al., 2001; Malburg, 2000). History of the creation of one
of the largest retail chains in the world of Wal–Mart is associated with the name of Sam Walton. In the mid–1950s

Why You Shouldn 't Build A Corporate Fitness Center
Sweat for Success
Almost everyone aspires to be successful; however, most people do not know how to achieve it or clearly define
up front what success means. Success is more than just the accomplishment of a goal or purpose; it is appreciating
yourself, loving what you do, and enjoying how you do it. Joshua Love, president of Kinema Fitness Center, is a
prime example of a successful individual. The purpose of this essay is to determine if his article, Why You
Shouldn't Build a Corporate Fitness Center Without a Strategy, is a reliable source for research. In order for any
business owner to be successful, they are required to retain profit from the sales or services they provides. A fitness
center business owner determines profitability from the number of members they provide services to. This article
discusses the importance of developing an effective strategy to maximize the amount of members for a new fitness
center. There are a few issues I found regarding this article; nonetheless, after analysis, I have come to the
conclusion that it is a reliable source that I would use in my own research. There are several supporting factors for
my reasoning. First is the fact that Love's accomplishments in the fitness and business field deem him a creditable
source for this type of article. Joshua also does a phenomenal job presenting an effective argument that is
supported by numerous facts. Another reason I found this article to be a reliable resource is the way the author

Benefits Of Physical Exercise For Health
Declining physical activity is surprising because in the West, it is often believed that many people do exercise. It is
true that sports circles and newspaper articles devoted to the benefits of physical exercise for health are more
numerous than ever but, overall, the information related to the usefulness of physical activity seem not lead to
behaviour change (O 'Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have serious consequences for public health. In
particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing dramatically throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is
not simply a matter of appearance, causes serious diseases and significantly increases the risk of diabetes and
cardiovascular diseases (O 'Brien et al 2015). Surveys in various countries of the European Region show low
levels of physical activity in many populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more
than ever, take care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending less and less energy. Due to
technical progress, even the simplest tasks are mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O 'Brien et al
2015). The fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly growing from a few
years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia, comprising all sport activities carried out in gyms. From
one point of view it is comparable to the process of hatching and development of modern sport in the 2nd half of
the twentieth century.

By the year 2015, it has been long since brothels have lined the streets of well–known cities to the extent in which
they did during the early 1900's. While there are still a few legal brothels in Nevada and in some foreign countries,
we usually find similar sorts in the forms of gentleman clubs or strip clubs nowadays. When examining the early

Karen Abbott's novel, Sin in the Second City: Madams, Ministers, Playboys and the Battle for America's Soul,
there is no pronounced comparison of our modern world with the one of the past, but we can insightfully see that

immigration, urbanization, and the challenge to faith and confidence. First of all, many immigrants traveled to

new ethnic neighborhoods as they feared the varying races and religious affiliations. This growth in modernity
resulted in a positive growth in technological devices such as telephones and street cars. On the other hand, the

corrupted, may have outweighed the good parts of the city. The most important aspects, revolved around
Europeans opening saloons and Madams and pimps opening brothels, both of which contributed to revolutions
with churches, temperance activists, anti–cigarette reformers and more. The importance of immigration in this

  • 2. Fight Club Conformity Analysis Conformity Conformity is a major theme in Fight Club, and there are a number of specific scenes that display the rejection of it and characters falling victim to it, sometimes unbeknownst to them. The Narrator, our main character, is a complex individual. He fits into almost every textbook example of social psychology. He is a complete nutcase. In fact, he is so incredibly insane, that he creates an imaginary friend with whom he transforms himself into a different person, free from the bonds of society, free from conformity, free to change the way he lives. Or does he? The film starts off with the Narrator losing sleep, for what reason we aren't sure. He then proceeds to tell us how he lived his life. He works a 9 to 5 job in a cubicle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Are they rejecting social norms as well? Or has this fight club in turn become the norm, and therefore members are joining it to fit in? Perhaps it is a case of minority influence, when a few influence the many. Tyler and the Narrator have held the same viewpoint for a while now, months even, that they do not care about clever art or Swedish furniture, and they are comfortable admitting that they have scars from fighting. With this unwavering view, others start to take notice, and even begin to respect their ideology. They join fight club to become loyal members. After a while, Tyler decides that they have to expand or "move out of the basement," and hence creates Project Mayhem. People do not always cave into peer pressure. If that is true, then when do we break? When do we give in and conform? According to Bibb Penis Latané's social impact theory, it all depends on three specific factors: strength, how important the group is to you; immediacy, how close the group is to you in space and time; and the number of people in the group. The last factor operates differently than you might think however–the larger a group is, the less each additional person has an influence on others. Ever since starting the first fight club, Norton's character has garnered such a reputation that he has gained a following. People start showing up on his doorstep, ... • 3. Fight Club Analysis Fight Club "There is enough on earth for everybody's need, but not for everyone's greed." Mahatma Gandhi This quote fits perfectly on me. Even though I have enough clothes to last an entire lifetime, yet I keep finding myself at the mall, buying things I simple do not need at all. And I am not the only one, millions of people is doing the same thing. It is because we need certain things: we desire different certain things. Now what is that problem called? Consumerism. Modern society is based on different things. But one of those things, consumerism, has been growing majorly over the past couple of decades, mainly in America. Americans consume exponentially more than any other country in the world and are the leaders in waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fight club is a "cult" how was invented by the narrator and Tyler; "I want you to do me a favour; I want you to hit me as hard as you can "(book p.52). At first the narrator is withdrawn but Tyler explains about self–destruction. After the first few punch, they are aching for more, and want to see how long they can go. This is the start of fight club. They get a basement where they can fight, and the narrator and Tyler make the seven rules of fight club. The most important rule is that "...you don't talk about fight club". For the narrator the fight meant he could go back to his life, do the things that matter. Fight club is way for men to get of their daily lives, out of the consuming lifestyle. In fight club they can beat at each other without norms and normal society rules. These men were raised to hide their aggression. They are the so call generation X – they were raised by women, abandon of father figures. With fight club in the narrators' life now, everything seems to for filed. The fight club is the most important thing in his life; it's all he can think about. Fight club takes over his concerns about his appearance, his job, and the need to make himself more masculine. With Marla back in the picture, after her attempt suicide, Tyler pays less attention to the narrator and the narrator is also faced with some of his own problems again. Tylers main ... • 4. Distinguishing Fantasy from Reality: Comparison Essay... Don DeLillo's book, White Noise, tells the story of Jack Gladney and his family. Throughout the book, Jack takes on a professional, fictional persona resembling that of Hitler, being the Chairman of Hitler Studies at the College– on–the–Hill (DeLillo 4). Jack turns his professional persona into this fictional character, something he could transform himself into, as if he was filling a Hitler mold. Jack relies on this Hitler–esque persona to sustain his own personal identity and self–worth, although in his mind, this fake persona is only subsidiary to his own personality. Jack struggles with ascertaining the importance of himself as compared to the importance of his own made–up persona and this notion of fabricated reality becoming more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack's two identities and his using his fake persona to bolster his own identity can be compared with the movie Fight Club. In the film, Edward Norton plays the narrator of the movie, an unnamed, insomniac office worker. He unknowingly creates a second persona, Tyler Durden, and he sees Tyler as a completely separate person. Throughout the movie, Norton slowly begins to transform his dull, meek life to mirror that of Tyler's, although he does not yet see that he is in fact Tyler. The idea presented by The Most Photographed Barn in America is presented in Fight Club when Norton states, "Everything's a copy of a copy of a copy" (Fincher). Norton's character lives a very dull, monotone life. Everything from his speech, his work, and his living conditions are very bland and boring. When he begins attending support groups to validate his own personal pains by using the pain of others as a crutch, he forms a hatred for Marla Singer because her lie reflected his own lie of not actually having something wrong with him as everyone else in the various support groups. After he develops an addiction to support groups, he states that "If I didn't say anything, people always assumed the worst" (Fincher). He is letting people come to their own conclusions while not having to outwardly lie to them, simply letting everyone else assume the lie for him. Much like how J.A.K. Gladney's personality vastly differs from Jack's, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy Draper... Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy Draper were three extraordinary women who pioneered the field we know today as interior decorating. All three of these women grew up in high societies, which gave them an excellent understanding of the rich, the famous and their expensive tastes. De Wolfe, McMillen, and Draper all had prominent careers from the mid 1800's until the early to mid 1900's. Most of their work was for the rich and famous in American high societies. Elsie de Wolfe was born in New York City in 1865. Although said to be an ugly little girl, from a young age she wowed people with her amazing sense style in clothing. She was a professional actress and was given the unique privilege to choose her own wardrobe for most of her roles. By 1877, de Wolfe had settled into a Boston Marriage –two women living together independent of men– and redecorated the house she shared with Elisabeth Marbury, another high society woman. It was after this redecoration that Elsie de Wolfe decided to go into business as a professional decorator. Eleanor McMillen Brown was born in 1890 in St. Louis, Missouri. After studying three years at Parsons in both New York and Paris, she attended business and secretarial school stating, "I thought if I was going to do it all, I better do it professionally" (Vogel, New York Times). Rather than working from her living room like most of her piers at the time, she paid $13,000 and opened up an office for herself off of East 55th Street ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Re–Creation Health Clubs renovations are now complete bringing a new Keysborough gym with a fresh new design, a new attitude to fitness and sets a new standard for health and fitness in the community. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The project management that I would consider using for the Re–creation Health Club at Keysborough that improves the customer service is the agile project management. Not only has the staff treated their customers with communication but also the layout structure that represented to the customers. So with the way the structure shown in Re–creation Health Club, there has been inventory equipment lying around which can cause customers to trip over and may result in injury. This can create a bad habit that can bring the business down if there is a continuation of angry customers. The equipment at the gym will be fragile for some of them. The staff should tend to replace with new equipment every year to prevent it to rust. The great thing about promoting crossfit is that none of the regular promotion strategies are ones that would really apply to using the model as a way of getting people interested. Community builidng cannot be put onto a fancy flyer or catchy ad. The community must be built inside the gym as well as have a profile within the community. These two things will lead to people who are members of the gym spreading the word about our affiliate and getting their friends to join the gym. However, that couldn't be any further than the truth. While I might be an avid concert goer and all around explorer, why would I ever engage in clubbing? I don't drink and the thought of standing in a dark room with strangers with no purpose seemed odd to me. Truthfully, the closest I have ever had to a "club" like experience would be the horrific house party of '12. Needless to say, that was enough to cement my belief that it would be unenjoyable. Sitting around Friday afternoon with no plans yet set in stone, suggesting that we go out for "girls' night" later that evening via group chat seemed perfectly normal. Bouncing ideas off each other, I brought up the idea of wanting to check out a club. Apparently that caught everyone off guard; instantly the conversation died and I was greeted with several phone calls asking whether or not I was okay and 'how long I had left'. Anyone who knows me knows that while I may love concerts I simply view clubbing as Prom minus chaperones. If you could not tell, I was not fond of the idea of prom either and so opted out. It is not that I am prude of any sort but what is the point of spending hours in line just to enter a dark room only to be grinded on and groped by strangers? His trip was cut short, as he got word that Mckinley's condition had turned for the worse. Mckinley was pronounced dead September 14, 1901; subsequently, Roosevelt was sworn into the presidency, along with his progressive views. Although this was not the start of the conservation and preservation movements, extended from the late 19th through the early 20th century, it was a major step for the movement as Roosevelt had empathy for activists and nature. The combination of a movement and a president who was willing to move resulted in five national parks and 18 national monuments being established by the end of Roosevelt's presidency. After the establishment of these parks, the lands were to be preserved by federal government, but the political and economical agendas of those opposed to the conservation and preservation movements still endangered the pristine land. However, in the movie Fight Club, the components that comprise outward identity often prove to be transitory. Edward Norton's "Jack" character asks, "If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?" The effects of modernity lead to the impermanence of self image, and the decay of identity. Rather than having a true identity, "Jack" is called a "byproduct of a lifestyle obsession." Most of the men had almost been rendered non–existent in the busy world, but they embraced their anonymity and used names less and less, until their anonymity afforded them the ability to go out and commit random vandalistic or violent acts without feeling individually responsible. They took on a mob mentality, and used their new sense of identity as a part of the whole to cope with this anonymity and feel more like men. The effects of modernity, such as these class conflicts, and consumer cultures, all contributed to the lack of masculinity that fueled this group to prove their worth as men. It is true that modernity has serious debilitating effects, and it nearly sucked the life and identity from each of the men of fight club. They became inspired to feel real pain, since many of them had not felt anything for a long time. Monotony overcame their lives and took over their feeling of individuality. These superstores are able to offer competitive pricing because as large companies they can offer a wide selection of products and have purchasing, distribution, marketing, and financing advantages. Due to low margins, the profitability of these individual superstore companies depends on high volume sales and efficient operations. • 32. Cost Leadership For The Generation Of Revenue What is cost leadership? Describe the role of cost leadership in the generation of revenue. Use Walmart as a case study and apply the construct of cost leadership. The goal of a cost–leadership strategy is to reduce the firm's cost below that of its competitors. The cost leader, as the name implies, focuses its attention and resources on reducing the cost at which it is able to offer a product or service (and still make a profit in the long term). The cost leader optimizes all of its value chain activities to achieve a low–cost position. Although staking out the lowest–cost position in the industry is the overriding strategic objective, a cost leader still needs to offer products and services of acceptable value. Firms do not have to sacrifice revenue to be the cost leader since high revenue is achieved through obtaining a large market share (Porter, 1979, 1987, 1996; Hooley et al., 2004; Bauer and Colgan, 2001; Hackett, 1996; Reid et al., 1993). Lower prices lead to higher demand and, therefore, to a larger market share (Helms et al., 1997). As a low cost leader, an organization can present barriers against new market entrants who would need large amounts of capital to enter the market (Hyatt, 2001). The leader then is somewhat insulated from industry wide price reductions (Porter, 1980; Hlavacka et al., 2001; Malburg, 2000). History of the creation of one of the largest retail chains in the world of Wal–Mart is associated with the name of Sam Walton. In the mid–1950s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Why You Shouldn 't Build A Corporate Fitness Center Sweat for Success Almost everyone aspires to be successful; however, most people do not know how to achieve it or clearly define up front what success means. Success is more than just the accomplishment of a goal or purpose; it is appreciating yourself, loving what you do, and enjoying how you do it. Joshua Love, president of Kinema Fitness Center, is a prime example of a successful individual. The purpose of this essay is to determine if his article, Why You Shouldn't Build a Corporate Fitness Center Without a Strategy, is a reliable source for research. In order for any business owner to be successful, they are required to retain profit from the sales or services they provides. A fitness center business owner determines profitability from the number of members they provide services to. This article discusses the importance of developing an effective strategy to maximize the amount of members for a new fitness center. There are a few issues I found regarding this article; nonetheless, after analysis, I have come to the conclusion that it is a reliable source that I would use in my own research. There are several supporting factors for my reasoning. First is the fact that Love's accomplishments in the fitness and business field deem him a creditable source for this type of article. Joshua also does a phenomenal job presenting an effective argument that is supported by numerous facts. Another reason I found this article to be a reliable resource is the way the author presents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Benefits Of Physical Exercise For Health Declining physical activity is surprising because in the West, it is often believed that many people do exercise. It is true that sports circles and newspaper articles devoted to the benefits of physical exercise for health are more numerous than ever but, overall, the information related to the usefulness of physical activity seem not lead to behaviour change (O 'Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have serious consequences for public health. In particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing dramatically throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is not simply a matter of appearance, causes serious diseases and significantly increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (O 'Brien et al 2015). Surveys in various countries of the European Region show low levels of physical activity in many populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more than ever, take care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending less and less energy. Due to technical progress, even the simplest tasks are mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O 'Brien et al 2015). The fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly growing from a few years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia, comprising all sport activities carried out in gyms. • 40. Dr. Abbott's Sin And The Battle For America's Soul By the year 2015, it has been long since brothels have lined the streets of well–known cities to the extent in which they did during the early 1900's. While there are still a few legal brothels in Nevada and in some foreign countries, we usually find similar sorts in the forms of gentleman clubs or strip clubs nowadays. When examining the early 1900's and our current modernity, there are, of course, both extreme and subtle similarities and differences. In Karen Abbott's novel, Sin in the Second City: Madams, Ministers, Playboys and the Battle for America's Soul, there is no pronounced comparison of our modern world with the one of the past, but we can insightfully see that we are not so different. The changes resulting in a more modern America were: emergence of big business and industrial systems, immigration, urbanization, and the challenge to faith and confidence. First of all, many immigrants traveled to America, the land of opportunity, with their hearts and minds set on finding work to support their families and to start anew. The growth of railroads created towns and cities, which then grew as big businesses sprung up, and finally expanded further as immigrants invaded these cities in search of cheap jobs. The inflow of foreigners caused Americans to be resentful and move to the suburbs. Many middle class people did not want to live near the new ethnic neighborhoods as they feared the varying races and religious affiliations. This growth in modernity resulted in a positive growth in technological devices such as telephones and street cars. On the other hand, the negative aspects, such as how cities were becoming overcrowded, unsanitary, filled with disease, and politically corrupted, may have outweighed the good parts of the city. The most important aspects, revolved around Europeans opening saloons and Madams and pimps opening brothels, both of which contributed to revolutions with churches, temperance activists, anti–cigarette reformers and more.
