Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer, 1983, by Diane
Wolkstein, Samuel Noah Kramer Comments: A very seductive rendering of the persona of the
infamous, notorious, and horrific "Whore of Babylon" – Inanna herself. She is every bit as
deceptive, ambitious and arrogant with 30 plus names (Ishtar, Isis, Aphrodite, Athena, etc.) – as her
male Anunnaki counterpart – Marduk (the anti–christ) who also has some fifty plus names to his

Story Of An Hour Literary Analysis
Kate Chopin's short story, "The Story of An Hour," emotionally illustrates the hour in which a young
woman with a heart condition finds out her husband has been killed in a mining accident. In the
beginning, she grieves over the loss of her husband, but she soon becomes relieved and joyous when
she realizes that she is now free. However, her husband returns after having been far from the mines
for the day and her heart problems return and she dies. Kate Chopin was an early feminist author
and was well acquainted with death after losing many siblings as a child, her husband (who left her
a large amount of debt), and her mother with whom she was very close. As a means of therapy,
Chopin took up writing and her ideas about feminism and death are very clear. In "The Story of An
Hour," Chopin uses multiple symbols and an allusion to a Greek god to illustrate and support the
idea that male oppression harms the souls and lives of women. Chopin employs the use of
symbolism to further her theme by using Louise's heart and its disease as key symbols. In the
beginning of the short story, the author informs the audience that Louise "was afflicted with a heart
trouble," which caused her husband's friend and her sister to try to tell her about the mining accident
gently. Shockingly, after her worrying phase of initial grief, Louise becomes joyful and "her pulses
beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed every inch of her body." Her sister was
worried that she was stressing her

Venus Bust Analysis
For my project, I have recreated a bust of Venus. A bust is a sculpture of a person's head, shoulders,
and chest. This allows you to include very intricate details and helps you achieve a goal in realism.
There were many sculptures of Venus in ancient Rome, including the Venus Genetrix, meaning
"Mother Venus" in Latin. I chose to create a bust so I could, too, focus on the intricate details,
though my version is very small, it might have been less accurate had I done the Venus Genetrix.
Venus busts like this one have been used for many garden decorations and household decorations in
general.
The sculpture I chose to recreate is a bust of Venus. Venus is the goddess of love, prosperity, fertility,
victory, and beauty. Her greek form is Aphrodite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was actually hard in this way not to find Greek artwork, but since Venus is a Roman goddess, this
was a good choice for me. The Romans didn't believe that a recreation of a work of art was any less
valuable than the first piece of art. We disagree with this today, but they added slight modifications
to their recreations. Roman art liked to recreate Greek art with those slight modifications, like
recreating bronzes (some of which are now lost) in marble. Some variations could be something
other than medium, though. Sometimes the purpose was to add a bit of humor! This added a lot of
Roman to Greek art, which was originally somber and serious. The Romans used a variety of media
in their artwork. Some include marble, painting, mosaic, gems, silver and bronze work, terracottas,
and more! The original bust that I chose to recreate is made of reconstituted resin, but I chose air–
dry clay to finish faster and to have a close model to the original bust.
The Roman Republic was also a great year for Roman Art. Lots of art was produced then because of
the many things happening in the republic and in the military. While this idea is not portrayed in the
bust, the equestrian statue honoring a military hero or civic leader was an idea created by the
Romans. Lots of things happened in this period of time, the start and fall of the Roman republic, and
the beginning of the peaceful period of time we know as the Pax

Leo Valdez In The Blood Of Olympus
In the novel The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan there was one character that stood out above
all others.. Leo Valdez. Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus, (God of Fire, Blacksmiths, and craftsmen) is
a greek demigod who was one of the chosen seven to save the world from the earth goddess Gaea. A
demigod is person who is half god, half human. Leo Valdez is Hispanic from his mothers side,
which is something he has in common with me. Three characteristics that describe him and make
him so special are that he is amusing, brave, and creative. These characteristics helped him save his
friends and the rest of the demigods, including the Gods. Leo Valdez is one of the bravest demigods
in the story. He is described as a teenager with brown skin and brown hair hanging over his eyes.
Leo always had a smile on his face. Throughout the story he was able to fight many monsters. He
ended up sacrificing himself in order to destroy the goddess Gaea, earth goddess, and save everyone.
In the story he also said he wanted to do it alone. He also ended up fighting along with his other 6
demigod friends against the Giants, oversized creatures who were made by Gae to oppose a specific

his friends to keep on going with the difficult journey to stop the evil goddess. Leo even threatened

Eris, the Greek goddess of strife, discord, conflict, contention, and rivalry. She was also considered
the born daughter of the night. Eris was feared and disliked by many of the Greek gods and

After being denied an appearance into the wedding, Eris took the apple she had earlier stolen from
Hera, the wife of Zeus, and threw the apple into a group of the Greek gods and goddesses attending
the wedding celebration. The golden apple had landed near Athena, the goddess of wisdom and
intelligence, Hera, the goddess of marriage and also the jealous wife of Zeus, and Aphrodite, the
goddess of love and beauty. Inscribed in the golden apple, were the words, "to the fairest". The three

all the gods, to ask who was the fairest of them all. Zeus then answered to the three goddesses
saying, "this decision can only be made by a mortal being". With that being said, a mortal being
named Paris was chosen to decide who was to receive the golden apple. After paying close attention
to the three goddesses, Paris came the conclusion that the goddesses should all share this golden

Artemis : The Myth Of Myths
Explain that 2 myths–how do they explain the god, why is the myth important, etc.
For centuries, women across the planet have relentlessly struggled to attain their rights. Even though
the fight for women's suffrage was over decades ago in the US, the excruciating truth is women
across the world still face oppression. An unfortunate expectation is still that a woman's sole
purpose in life is towed and procreate. However, a multitude of religions has strong, female
goddesses that defy the concepts of matrimony. As "Wonder Women" within the Greek culture,
Artemis is the virgin goddess of the hunt, is a strong independent figure that goes against marriage.
In a man run world, Artemis chooses to live life on Earth. She spends her time in nature's solitude
with her maidens, and rarely participates in human affairs. When one reads the myths of Artemis,
the idea that comes across is that anyone who obstructs Artemis' goals, pays dearly. The myths "The
Transformation of Actaeon into a Stag" and "Niobe" reveal the destruction of those who defy
Artemis. In The "Transformation of Actaeon into a Stag" Ovid recalls the tale of how a mortal
hunter, Actaeon, is punished, upon viewing Artemis unclothed body. Furthermore, "Niobe" is the
myth of how an arrogant mother faces the wrath of a goddess. These myths aptly bring out Artemis'
personality, as a deadly and wrathful goddess, that doesn't spare anyone who offends her.
Artemis' vindictive nature is portrayed in the tale "The

AEQUITAS
Aequitas is defined as the Latin concept of justice, equality, conformity, symmetry, or fairness. It is
the origin of the English word "equity". In ancient Rome, it could refer to either the legal concept of
equity or fairness between individuals. She is famously known for her scales of justice and the
sword she carries in tow. This lady of justice is just as well known to the Law Enforcement
community where she is held highly, along with the symbols of her father and his prayers of
protection.
Aequitas, having no children of her own, protects those who protect us. She watches over the
watchdogs and gives them the strength and courage they need to stand by and keep the people safe.
Being the daughter of a goddess and a saint, there is no extreme she won't reach to ensure the well–
being of her chosen children.
Aequitas brings confidence when there is doubt, courage when there is fear and strength when there
is weakness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many stories of Athena and what she represents and stands for, but she is most well known
for her role as the Goddess of war, wisdom and law/justice. It would seem only fitting that her
daughter fall in tow with her. Along with the stories of Athena's path, there has also been some
debate about her love life. There are many that argue she was the Virgin Athena, leading to the most
famous temple dedicated to the goddess... the Parthenon. With this, there are stories of (attempted)
rape and children born from the Earth from fallen semen that came from the failed attempts. It has
also been said that the tails of Athena being a virgin come result from a relationship with her father
Zeus. With all the violence and troubles that Athena seemed to face in story or reality it seems to
come as no surprise that her one and only child would be a protector and an advocate for

Aphrodite is said to be the most beautiful goddess. She is the goddess of love, desire, and beauty.
She was the most desired goddess and her magical girdle on her waist made her even more

There are three accounts of her birth, but there are two main ones. The first one she was said to be
the daughter of Zeus and Dione. The other, which is said to be more likely she was born out of the
sea foam. Cronus had castrated Uranus and tossed his torn of genitals into the sea. Aphrodite then
walked to the shore of Cyprus.

India Association Plans A Newsletter
The poem "India Association Plans a Newsletter" by Sharat Chandra has a lot of meaning to it
behind retaining home culture in another country. Throughout the poem, Chandra discusses on how
the second generation children should still preserve their own culture, and not forget about the
heritage you came from. The poem itself can be understood in a way that is meaningful for all new
immigrants who want to sustain their own heritage in another land which is why today's reader
should pay attention to this poem. Personally, I feel the poem can tell today's readers about the
problems with being too Americanized. Sharat Chandra uses metaphor, imagery, and symbols in
"India Association Plans a Newsletter" to convey a sense of what relieves the younger generation
from falling back too behind on their own culture, and not completely wash it down just because
you are living in a different country.
Breezing through the poem I can spot metaphors, and those are the ones that contradict what
Chandra says in the previous lines. Chandra is an immigrant from India who has been in the U.S. for
about two decades. Today's readers can get a sense of motherhood after reading this because the poet
says, "to make India over there to become India over here" (Line 7); this can be interpreted in a such
way that just because we are in the United States it doesn't mean that we can't bring our country
here. The motherhood literally refers to as giving birth or raising a child, but in the sense of this

The Origin Of The Banshee
Connor Harkins
Jonathan Tyler
English 102–10
1 February 2017
The Banshee The banshee is a phantom that is said to wail whenever a person is about to die. It
would visit a friend or a family member of a Irish person who was dying. People are afraid of them
because it shows us our mortality. We are afraid of death because we do not know what is on the
other side, so naturally we would be afraid of the harbinger of death. The origin of the banshee is
intertwined with death as it is in its spectre form. There are many legends that the banshee came
from. It ranges from women who took alcohol to mourn the death a member of a powerful family to
ancient goddesses that the Christian church turned into a demon. No matter what the origin ... Show

The banshee is said to be a woman that were paid with alcohol to mourn the death of a person. The
family would pay the woman, who was normally and alcoholic, in drinks to cry at the grave a their
deceased loved one to make it seem like they were very respected. The Christian church did not like
this, so came about the story of the banshee. One theory of the banshee is that they are being
punished for their insincere mourning and alcoholism. They haunt a family and not a place unlike
many ghosts. The banshee probably haunts the family out of loyalty to them from their life of
mourning for the family. The origin of the banshee goes farther than that, it has a more supernatural
myth to it.
In Irish myth, the banshee is considered a fairy and so the church says that is it a demon wailing that
it is losing souls to heaven. It is said that the banshee comes from the ancient god race known as the
Tuatha De Danann. According to Carolyn White in A History of Irish Fairies, "The Tuatha De
Danann, the divine folk descended from the mother goddess Dana or Danu, were gods from Greece
(some say, of the Golden race) who came to Ireland enshrouded by a magical mist which hid the sun
and their appearance for three days and nights..." (White 18). This supports the idea of the church
that the banshee is a demon, because it is the descendant of a Pagan goddess. Women are that to be
bringers of life because they give birth to children. So the tale of the banshee being the

Narrative Essay : My Everyday Day
I arouse and realize it's an effulgent and sunny Saturday . As I casually walk to the kitchen still in
my one–piece onesie, I find my 2 friends Wren and Zhee, whom she is the goddess of comeliness
and I am the goddess of quandaries. They apportion a few laughs as I panic and run back to my
room to transmute into something more mundane. After I transmute, I casually walk back to the
kitchen where I was afore, when I was shocked by my friend's appearance. As I masticate my rice
crispy cereals they commence to brainstorm conceptions on how to spend our Saturday together.
Then, they mentioned the beach and it immediately caught my attention. I genially wrap up my
breakfast, then reply with an expeditious, " definitely the beach." They alacritously concurred the
beach is the destination to spend quality time with paramount people on an effulgent Saturday
afternoon. We cerebrated about the memorable times we could have, of course our first intention
was to arrive, gradually set our possessions, and lay tranquilly on the comely sand. Then, we
orchestrated to play some beach volleyball and have a delectable dinner at one of their top quality
restaurants not far from the beach. So, we apprised my parents about our zeal to drive out the beach
for the day and the special conceptions we had orchestrated ahead. Then, we hurried to the room and

Women 's Suffrage Movement : The Perfect Woman
Women have been treated and portrayed similarly throughout history–– Made to be housewives and
handmaidens to men of all ages and expected to be the "perfect woman", a standard image created
by––shocker––men. In fifth–century Greece, the "perfect" woman was expected to obey her
husbands at all times. The "perfect" English Renaissance women was meant to be seen, not heard.
The "perfect" woman of the eighteen hundreds was given novels to read. Novels that held lighter
topics than the newspapers of the day, such as intemperance, nothing too heavy because "once a
woman starts reading, she starts getting ideas" (indirect quote from Beauty and the Beast). The
tables began to turn in 1848, when the first women's suffrage movement convention was held in
Seneca Falls, when women began to realize what Emma Goldman voiced years later in 1915. The
"perfect woman" image began to crumble. Skirts became shorter, topics became heavier, women
started thinking, forming ideas, becoming more outspoken, creating their own image, without the
aid of men. Slowly, they climbed their way up, proving to be more independent and more than what
men thought them to be. How women were viewed as by a society, and their evolution of
independence, has bled through in literature, especially through female deities in ancient
mythologies. Over time, goddesses of different mythologies have grown bolder and more powerful
as the world finally noticed that women were actually people, not pretty trophies. Greek,

Comparison Between Menkaure and His Wife, and Nike from...
Naturalism in art refers to the depiction of realistic objects in a natural setting. The Realism
movements of the 19th century advocated naturalism in reaction to the stylized and idealized
depictions of subjects in Romanticism, but many painters have adopted a similar approach over the
centuries. One example of Naturalism is the artwork of American artist William Bliss Baker, whose
landscape paintings are considered some of the best examples of the naturalist movement. Idealism
is the attitude that places special value on ideas and ideals as products of the mind, in comparison
with the world as perceived through the senses. In art idealism is the tendency to represent things as

By an unknown artist, the sculpture is thought to date from the period 220 BC – 190 BC (though
some scholars date it as early as 250 BC or as late as 180 BC). Her drapery serves to dramatically
emphasize both her dynamic forward movement against the wind and her full, robust form–her
powerful thighs and the active, contracted muscles of her torso. The drapery clings with thin, long,
and uneven ripples to her breasts, abdomen, right leg, and left thigh, its near transparency revealing
these parts of the body almost as if they were nude. Excess fabric forms heavy yet dynamically
irregular shapes and bunches. A long, uneven arc of cloth between her legs accentuates their motion
and implies the counter–force of the wind against her body. The sculptor draws attention to this
downward arc with a swath of drapery that flies forward from the left hip and collides in a V–shape
with the longer swath at the Nike's pelvis. At the same time, in the back of the statue fabric soars out
behind the figure in rigid crests. The effect of this drapery is choppy and uneven, the wind whipping
the cloth as it does sea below into irregular peaks and troughs. A partial inscription on the base of
the statue includes the word "Rhodhios" (Rhodes), indicating that the statue was commissioned to
celebrate a naval

Feminist Spirituality and Goddess Religion Essay
Feminist Spirituality and Goddess Religion
Thousands of years ago, the Goddess was viewed as an autonomous entity worthy of respect from
men and women alike. Because of societal changes caused by Eastern influence, a patriarchial
system conquered all aspects of life including religion. "Furthermore, most feminists interested in
goddesses are women who strongly reject western patriarchal theology"(Culpepper 51). Thus, there
was this very strong feminist idea of women being the prime in the early part of the 17th and the
18th century.
Today, the loss of a strong female presence in Judeo–Christian beliefs has prompted believers to
look to other sources that celebrate the role of women. Men and women have increasingly embraced

Some of these so called religions would be Christianity including the Roman Catholic Church,
Protestants, European Religions and also Judaism who thought of as god being male i.e. Jesus.
Goddess worship was gradually combined with worship of male Gods to produce a variety of Pagan
religions, thus losing some of its singular focus on the female as a deity. Goddess Worship during
the Christian era was molded by more dominant outside forces. As Judaism, Christianity &
eventually Islam evolved, the Pagan religions were suppressed and the female principle was
gradually driven out of religion. Consequently women were reduced to a level inferior to men. The
God, King, Priest & Father replaced the Goddess, Queen, Priestess & Mother (Miles 24). A woman's
testimony was not considered significant in courts, women were not allowed to speak in churches,
and positions of authority in the church were (almost without exception) limited to men. A feminine
presence was added to Christianity when the Virgin Mary was named Theotokos (Mother of God).
However, her role was heavily restricted and included none of the fertility components present in
Pagan religions.
A low point in the life of women was reached during the Renaissance, when hundreds of thousands
of suspected female witches were exterminated being burned and hanged. At the turn of the century,
scholars began writing about a "Mother Goddess". By the 1950s, Gerald Gardner

Audra's War: A Short Story
It was battle morning. War morning. Audra woke in darkness and stuck her head out the bedchamber
window. It was cool out, not frigid, and gentle wisps of wind shook the leaves. If the weather stayed
this calm, that would be advantageous, because arrows would remain on their proper trajectory once
loosed, and they needed every advantage possible. She glanced up at the sky and spotted a handful
of blue–black clouds easing by. Some cloud cover, little wind, and no precipitation... this bode well.
At any moment, Faye and Una would burst into the room and insist upon dressing Audra in her
battle clothes and leather armor. And once again, they would try to convince her not to go. "My lady,
you don't have to go to battle!" Faye had insisted once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of their arguments, Audra was going, even though deep in her soul, she assumed this was
her time to die. For months, a little voice whispered, "This is the end; this is the beginning." To
Audra, that meant death was certain, but she was willing to die for a worthy cause. She and Rory
would be separated on the field, because if both of them fell, there would no doubt be a struggle for
the throne, and protracted war in Aber Hael. Since Carlton's brother had not been heard from in
years on end, he was presumed dead, Audra had declared Vaughan to be the next king should she
and her son die. However, that did not seem necessary, because, for inexplicable reasons, Audra
knew Rory would live. Behind his back, she made sure Vaughan had assigned a score of men to
remain at his side until death. Yet still, she had not revealed to Rory the name of his true father, and
now, on the morning of battle, it was too late. He should not ride out burdened with that knowledge;
his focus needed to rest solely on the fight ahead. Thus, a letter remained locked away in her foot
trunk with the details spelled out, and Vaughan was aware he was to retrieve the letter should Audra

Artisitc Techniques in the Birth of Venus Essay example
The Birth of Venus (Nascita di Venere) is a painting done by Florentine artist Sandro Botticelli in
1486. The painting depicts the moment the goddess Venus first emerges from the waters of the sea
and prepares to step onto the shore. Through linear techinques and artistic symbolism, the painting
not only depicts the story and narrative of the goddess Venus's birth but also seeks to exhibit the
many different types of love and adoration which surround the creation of life. The painting was a
commissioned work for the Medici Family of Florence, a powerful political and financial family
which would later go on to become an influential royal house for centuries. Throughout the painting,
there is evidence of movement and a prevailing sense you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This suggests that she is alive and moving with life and purpose.
Her naked form is a very rare element in the picture. During this time period, nudity was strictly
reserved to convey the idea of pure innocense or virginal qualities. Yet, Botticelli uses the nudity to
symbolize innocence and the untouched skin. Her form is soft and womanly and the seashell that
she rides on also reflects the thought that she is unblemished and untouched, much like a pearl. Her
hair is speckled with fine gold and is flowing naturally. It also serves to naturally cover her naked
body and suggest an innocent and almost Eve like quality. This also is a deliberate attempt at
recreating art from earlier Greek works which embraced the natural beauty of the body, especially
amongst the gods and goddesses of ancient Greece.
The fixation is set on her in the center of the painting due to the triangle of light used to create a
focal point for the viewer. Surrounding her on both sides are the linear equivelants of past and
future. From the left we see her creators helping her along with strength and the force of the wind.
To the right we see her handmaiden ready to usher her into the world, where she will be clothed and
no longer represent innocence. Both exhibit two very different forms of love and caring to Venus.
The two male and female figures linked and joined represent the wind gods from

What Is The Purpose Of Sappho's Poetry?
Sensuality can be described as "Of or arousing gratification of the senses and physical, especially
sexual, pleasure" (Oxford, 2016). Many critics such as Circa say "Most commonly the target of her
affections was female". I disagree that her poetry shows a confession of a sensual relationship.
Rather, it just lets out her emotive feelings. My argument is that her poetry is metaphorical showing
a new and creative representation of the future. Sappho's work has been criticised by many scholars,
one of which being Nazianzen. Sappho's books were burned by Christians in the year 380 A.D. at
the instigation of Pope Gregory Nazianzen. Another book burning in the year 1073 A.D. by Pope
Gregory VII may have wiped out any remaining trace of her works. ... Show more content on

There is the acoustic sound the words form themselves and the impressions created by cinematic art.
Cinematic views can help us interperate what life was like in the past. The telling of the past is
usually covered by vivid storytelling. Combining both the sound and vision give the poetry a second
level of meaning which can either accompany or amplify the normal understated meaning of a
literary text. "Melodic" is a word which sums up the overall feeling of her poetry (Isle of Lesbos:
Poetry of Sappho, 1995). If we are in a position to call her poetry 'sensual', other than the specific
odes, her poetry does not have a specific addressee. Although she was a teacher, so the feelings she
expresses in her poetry may be towards her students, who came to her for help. Sappho has become
familiar in the field of woman–love that two of the most popular words to describe female
homosexuality––lesbian and Sapphic have derived from her (Isle of Lesbos: Poetry of Sappho,
1995). The potential that her work relates to love with these lexis referring back to her, provides
quite sufficient reasoning. Immortal Aphrodite varies in each line with its use of long and short
sounded vowels. This determined a difference to the way ancient Greek sounded. In a similar way
we could add stresses to her poetry making the higher pitches she expresses unstressed and the
lower pitched syllables stressed. Adding stresses to her work is not favoured as it removes a
classical critical factor from the art of her lyric poetry. If the reader or listener uses their imagination
and uses their knowledge of vowel length and pitch change then this poem is readable and
understandable. Dionysos of Halicarnasos who quoted this poem for us, remarks that "the charm
comes from the sounds themselves which are combined in special ways, interwoven with care and
skill". This point also links to why I believe her poetry was crafted for the reader or

Greek Mythology: Aphrodite, The Goddess Of Love
The Goddess of Love

know the famous Aphrodite, the goddess of love and passion. During his presentation you will learn
about Aphrodite's childhood, adulthood, other facts about her, and how she met her unfaithful death.
It all started when Aphrodite was brought into the world. But Aphrodite did not have much of a
childhood, in fact she did not have a childhood at all. In Greek Mythology it states that Aphrodite
was born an adult. But the there are two stories of how she was born. The most common legend of
her birth is when Cronus cut off Uranus' genitals where they fell from the heavens and into the sea,
dissolving into the sea foam that Aphrodite rose from. After she rose from the sea foam it was said
that she rode a giant clamshell to a nearby island, called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

main lover since he had killed her first love, Adonis, because of his jealousy to be with Aphrodite.
And when Aphrodite and Ares were caught sleeping together by Hephaestus, he embedded them

Aphrodite Myths
What is mythology? Mythology is the study and interpretation of oten sacred tales or fables of a
culture known as "myths" or the collection of such stores which usually deal with the human
condition, good and evil, human origins, life and death, the afterlife, and the gods or goddesses
(Mark). A goddess in particular to mythology is the goddess Aphrodite. The Goddess of Love and
Beauty, who beguiled all, gods and men alike; or mockingly at those her wiles had conquered; the
irresistible goddess who stole away the wits of the wise (Hamilton). Aphrodite, the goddess of love
and beauty, was the most powerful goddess of the opposite sex with her power of love and beauty.
There are two unique stories on how Aphrodite was born. The first story begins as the goddess of
beauty and love was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus
(Heaven), after his son Cronus threw them into the sea (Aphrodite). Her name has been explained as
meaning "the foam risen." Aphros is foam in Greek. This sea birth took place near Cythera, from
where she was wafted to Cyprus. Both islands were ever after sacred to her, and she was called
Cytherea or the Cyprian as often as by her proper name (Hamilton). In the second story, she is the
daughter of Zeus and Dione in the Iliad (Hamilton). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ability to seduce them. She controlled emotions. This goddess though had a temper when it came to
her powers that displayed massive amounts of anger, rage, and hatred. Aphrodite was a strong,
exotic, and attractive goddess with great power, but she had a dark side that was out of this world

Duality In Sylvia Plath's Two Sisters Of Persephone
Duality occasionally results as the cause for suffering, while it is a product of the mind, it can often
revolve around condemnation and the fear of judgement. Sylvia Plath's poem, "Two Sisters of
Persephone" illuminates the idea of the duality that exists within a woman's personality. The title
"Two Sisters of Persephone" suggests that there are two sisters being described in this poem, when
in reality, Plath allures the reader by revealing that the two designated qualities actually deal with
the two lives that Persephone endured as the Goddess of the Spring and the Queen of the
Underworld. Plath conveys the concept of dualism through the purposeful use of structure, and
depicting imagery to illustrate the contrasting lives of the renowned deity, Persephone. Primarily,
Plath illuminates her emphasis on contrast through the use of caesuras. The first caesura, "Two girls
there are: within the house" (1), introduces the foil of Persephone's dual personalities. This is
significant as it elucidates the concept of there being two people within one character setting. In this
case the two girls portrayed in the house allude to the existent impression that women are two–
faced. Women are known to have two sides for they only ultimately show what is perceived as face–
value, and preserve their other individual persona hidden. Similarly, Plath uses a second example of
a caesura, "One sits; the other, without" (2), to clarify the erratic contrast amongst her two
personalities. This is

Female Goddesses In Hindu Women
On one hand Female goddesses also act as a powerful role models for Hindu women by setting an
example of how the ideal Hindu woman must be. Goddesses such as Devi and Parvati were usually
seen as consorts of the male Gods. These goddesses inspire women to diligently serve their
husbands while still following the dharmas set for them by their caste and society. In a sense, the
Goddesses' beauty, grace, and even charismatic behavior is expected by the married women in the
Hindu society. Some goddesses also show Hindu women to be more strong and take control over
their actions and mistakes. For example, Goddess Durga, is considered to be a very good role model
of Feminist movements in India. It is said that she represents the violent and destructive ... Show

This being said, the goddesses also tend to be overshadowed by the male gods. They are often
shown as passive consorts of the male gods and are therefore often considered to be less important
than the more prominent male deities. This can lead to the assumption that the Indian women must
serve their husbands just as the female deities serve their consorts. The female deities are also not a
part of the Hindu trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) that represent the gods of creation,
preservation and destruction. As the trimurti represents some of the most powerful gods in the Hindu
religion, the fact that none of the female deities are part of it, almost gives off a sense that they are
not as powerful as the male deities. The goddesses also show that the women's destiny is to
sometimes even sacrifice herself for her husband. One big example of this was Sati. Sati, the
daughter of Daksha Prajapati was the married to Lord Shiva against her father's wishes and lived
with the lord on the mountain of Kailasha. Because he did not approve this marriage, Daksha
Prajapati invited every god to his yajna other than Lord Shiva

Saint Michael Casting Satan Into Hell
One of the art pieces that I have chosen is called "Saint Michael Casting Satan into Hell" created by
Francesco Picano after a design by Lorenzo Vaccarno. This piece was made in 1705 in Italy
(Naples) during the times of Italy 's Renaissance movement. According to the article "Brief History
of Italy" by Tim Lambert states that, "The 18th century was an age of enlightenment when the
power of the church was curtailed"(sec 8). Which stating that during this time religion was highly
focused in their works as a gateway for new ideas. This artwork is located at the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art inside the Ahmanson building on the third floor, in the center of the exhibit
under European art. The reason why I chose this piece is because this piece was interesting, how
they represent the idea how it's represented in the stories that was focused in the work. As well as
how it's place near the center so people can observe it from many different angles. This piece is a
sculpture work that uses Polychromed wood and glass that were carved and molded into and it 's at
least two feet tall.
The next piece that I have chosen is called "Dancer's Headpiece in The Form of the Hindu Goddess

It was a rainy day in the early 2000s. A man sat in a building with his little students observing them

In Her pictures, Lakshmi is portrayed in a female shape with four arms and four hands. She wears
red garments with a brilliant coating and is upright on a lotus. She has brilliant coins and lotuses in
her grasp. Two or four elephants are shown alongside the goddess. The four arms symbolize the four

while living in this world, one ought to make the most of its riches, however not to obsess over it.
Such a living is closely resembled by a lotus that develops in water, but isn't wetted by water. The
four hands speak to the four closures of human life: dharma (righteousness), Kama (genuine

The goddesses named in this chapter occur in the midst of the earliest pagan deities mentioned in
numerous ancient writings; particularly, the ones frequently linked to the land of Canaan. In fact,
several of the goddesses that promoted idolatry and prostitution exist directly in the King James
Version of the Bible, such as Ashtoreth, Diana and Lilith. Although, the word 'prostitute' exists only
once (Lev 19:29), still, prostitution happens to be identified with various words; such as "whore(s),

Emphatically, due to the goddesses, women and young girls required to have their virginity callously
stolen away–how sick is that? Indeed, the paint brush of this practice appears to be broad among the
fertility goddesses, for this domination became witnessed repeatedly in various lands; instigating

Hamilton Caelen Salisbury–White, Date: 09/11/15 Abstract Post Second–wave feminism gave rise
to the Goddess movement, which can be understood as a transcendent cosmological force (e.g.,
Mother Earth), or as an everyday manifestation of self–empowerment. The goal of my research is to
demonstrate how renewed and reconceptualised images of modern Goddesses are symbolic for
female empowerment. My research seeks to demonstrate a shift in understanding about gendered
perspectives regarding stereotypical female deities by looking at how the Goddess movement has
grown in popularity in the West and more specifically, the Hamilton neo–pagan community.

Research Paper On Aphrodite
Aphrodite is the Olympian Greek Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She is
identified with the planet Venus and her Roman equivalent is the Goddess Venus. She is depicted as
a beautiful women. Aphrodite was born out of the sea foam and then went on to land on an island.
Her parents became Zeus and Dione. Seeing Aphrodite was the Goddess of procreation, she had
many children. Aphrodite had fourteen divine children, and five mortal children. Her name came
from a Greek word aphrogeniea which means the foam born. This name was given to her because
she was born out of the foam. Aphrodite had her children with different men. Five of the divine

One of her children who's name is Beroe actually got married to Poseidon which Beroe's mother
aphrodite had children with him already. Aphrodite also had her mortal children with different men.
Two of them she had with Ankhises, one she had with Phaethon, one she had with Poseidon, and
one she had with Argonaut. Eventually she ended up marrying Hephaestus, but then later on cheated
on him with Ares. In Book Eight of the Odyssey, the blind singer Demodocus tells of how Aphrodite
committed adultery with Ares, the god of war. The sun god Helios saw Aphrodite and Ares having
sex in Hephaestus's bed and warned Hephaestus who made a net of gold. The next time Ares and
Aphrodite had sex together, the net trapped them both. Hephaestus brought all the gods into the
bedchamber to laugh at the captured adulterers, but Apollo, Hermes,

Warrior Of God Analysis

  • 1. Warrior Of God Analysis Warrior of GOD from the true Jewish Essene tradition. Thank you and God Bless you Sir. 15. Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer, 1983, by Diane Wolkstein, Samuel Noah Kramer Comments: A very seductive rendering of the persona of the infamous, notorious, and horrific "Whore of Babylon" – Inanna herself. She is every bit as deceptive, ambitious and arrogant with 30 plus names (Ishtar, Isis, Aphrodite, Athena, etc.) – as her male Anunnaki counterpart – Marduk (the anti–christ) who also has some fifty plus names to his credit of deception. 16. • 3. Story Of An Hour Literary Analysis Kate Chopin's short story, "The Story of An Hour," emotionally illustrates the hour in which a young woman with a heart condition finds out her husband has been killed in a mining accident. In the beginning, she grieves over the loss of her husband, but she soon becomes relieved and joyous when she realizes that she is now free. However, her husband returns after having been far from the mines for the day and her heart problems return and she dies. Kate Chopin was an early feminist author and was well acquainted with death after losing many siblings as a child, her husband (who left her a large amount of debt), and her mother with whom she was very close. As a means of therapy, Chopin took up writing and her ideas about feminism and death are very clear. In "The Story of An Hour," Chopin uses multiple symbols and an allusion to a Greek god to illustrate and support the idea that male oppression harms the souls and lives of women. Chopin employs the use of symbolism to further her theme by using Louise's heart and its disease as key symbols. In the beginning of the short story, the author informs the audience that Louise "was afflicted with a heart trouble," which caused her husband's friend and her sister to try to tell her about the mining accident gently. Shockingly, after her worrying phase of initial grief, Louise becomes joyful and "her pulses beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed every inch of her body." Her sister was worried that she was stressing her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Venus Bust Analysis For my project, I have recreated a bust of Venus. A bust is a sculpture of a person's head, shoulders, and chest. This allows you to include very intricate details and helps you achieve a goal in realism. There were many sculptures of Venus in ancient Rome, including the Venus Genetrix, meaning "Mother Venus" in Latin. I chose to create a bust so I could, too, focus on the intricate details, though my version is very small, it might have been less accurate had I done the Venus Genetrix. Venus busts like this one have been used for many garden decorations and household decorations in general. The sculpture I chose to recreate is a bust of Venus. Venus is the goddess of love, prosperity, fertility, victory, and beauty. Her greek form is Aphrodite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was actually hard in this way not to find Greek artwork, but since Venus is a Roman goddess, this was a good choice for me. The Romans didn't believe that a recreation of a work of art was any less valuable than the first piece of art. We disagree with this today, but they added slight modifications to their recreations. Roman art liked to recreate Greek art with those slight modifications, like recreating bronzes (some of which are now lost) in marble. Some variations could be something other than medium, though. Sometimes the purpose was to add a bit of humor! This added a lot of Roman to Greek art, which was originally somber and serious. The Romans used a variety of media in their artwork. Some include marble, painting, mosaic, gems, silver and bronze work, terracottas, and more! The original bust that I chose to recreate is made of reconstituted resin, but I chose air– dry clay to finish faster and to have a close model to the original bust. The Roman Republic was also a great year for Roman Art. Lots of art was produced then because of the many things happening in the republic and in the military. While this idea is not portrayed in the bust, the equestrian statue honoring a military hero or civic leader was an idea created by the Romans. Lots of things happened in this period of time, the start and fall of the Roman republic, and the beginning of the peaceful period of time we know as the Pax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These characteristics helped him save his friends and the rest of the demigods, including the Gods. Leo Valdez is one of the bravest demigods in the story. He is described as a teenager with brown skin and brown hair hanging over his eyes. Leo always had a smile on his face. Throughout the story he was able to fight many monsters. • 13. Artemis : The Myth Of Myths Explain that 2 myths–how do they explain the god, why is the myth important, etc. For centuries, women across the planet have relentlessly struggled to attain their rights. Even though the fight for women's suffrage was over decades ago in the US, the excruciating truth is women across the world still face oppression. An unfortunate expectation is still that a woman's sole purpose in life is towed and procreate. However, a multitude of religions has strong, female goddesses that defy the concepts of matrimony. As "Wonder Women" within the Greek culture, Artemis is the virgin goddess of the hunt, is a strong independent figure that goes against marriage. In a man run world, Artemis chooses to live life on Earth. She spends her time in nature's solitude with her maidens, and rarely participates in human affairs. When one reads the myths of Artemis, the idea that comes across is that anyone who obstructs Artemis' goals, pays dearly. The myths "The Transformation of Actaeon into a Stag" and "Niobe" reveal the destruction of those who defy Artemis. In The "Transformation of Actaeon into a Stag" Ovid recalls the tale of how a mortal hunter, Actaeon, is punished, upon viewing Artemis unclothed body. Furthermore, "Niobe" is the myth of how an arrogant mother faces the wrath of a goddess. These myths aptly bring out Artemis' personality, as a deadly and wrathful goddess, that doesn't spare anyone who offends her. Artemis' vindictive nature is portrayed in the tale "The ... Roles Of Aequias In Athena Nicole Bernhard Professor Grimes HUM 2211 December 4, 2015 AEQUITAS Aequitas is defined as the Latin concept of justice, equality, conformity, symmetry, or fairness. It is the origin of the English word "equity". In ancient Rome, it could refer to either the legal concept of equity or fairness between individuals. She is famously known for her scales of justice and the sword she carries in tow. This lady of justice is just as well known to the Law Enforcement community where she is held highly, along with the symbols of her father and his prayers of protection. Aequitas, having no children of her own, protects those who protect us. She watches over the watchdogs and gives them the strength and courage they need to stand by and keep the people safe. Being the daughter of a goddess and a saint, there is no extreme she won't reach to ensure the well– being of her chosen children. • 21. India Association Plans A Newsletter The poem "India Association Plans a Newsletter" by Sharat Chandra has a lot of meaning to it behind retaining home culture in another country. Throughout the poem, Chandra discusses on how the second generation children should still preserve their own culture, and not forget about the heritage you came from. The poem itself can be understood in a way that is meaningful for all new immigrants who want to sustain their own heritage in another land which is why today's reader should pay attention to this poem. Personally, I feel the poem can tell today's readers about the problems with being too Americanized. Sharat Chandra uses metaphor, imagery, and symbols in "India Association Plans a Newsletter" to convey a sense of what relieves the younger generation from falling back too behind on their own culture, and not completely wash it down just because you are living in a different country. Breezing through the poem I can spot metaphors, and those are the ones that contradict what Chandra says in the previous lines. Chandra is an immigrant from India who has been in the U.S. for about two decades. Today's readers can get a sense of motherhood after reading this because the poet says, "to make India over there to become India over here" (Line 7); this can be interpreted in a such way that just because we are in the United States it doesn't mean that we can't bring our country here. The motherhood literally refers to as giving birth or raising a child, but in the sense of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Origin Of The Banshee Connor Harkins Jonathan Tyler English 102–10 1 February 2017 The Banshee The banshee is a phantom that is said to wail whenever a person is about to die. It would visit a friend or a family member of a Irish person who was dying. People are afraid of them because it shows us our mortality. We are afraid of death because we do not know what is on the other side, so naturally we would be afraid of the harbinger of death. The origin of the banshee is intertwined with death as it is in its spectre form. There are many legends that the banshee came from. It ranges from women who took alcohol to mourn the death a member of a powerful family to ancient goddesses that the Christian church turned into a demon. No matter what the origin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The banshee is said to be a woman that were paid with alcohol to mourn the death of a person. The family would pay the woman, who was normally and alcoholic, in drinks to cry at the grave a their deceased loved one to make it seem like they were very respected. The Christian church did not like this, so came about the story of the banshee. One theory of the banshee is that they are being punished for their insincere mourning and alcoholism. They haunt a family and not a place unlike many ghosts. The banshee probably haunts the family out of loyalty to them from their life of mourning for the family. The origin of the banshee goes farther than that, it has a more supernatural myth to it. In Irish myth, the banshee is considered a fairy and so the church says that is it a demon wailing that it is losing souls to heaven. It is said that the banshee comes from the ancient god race known as the Tuatha De Danann. According to Carolyn White in A History of Irish Fairies, "The Tuatha De Danann, the divine folk descended from the mother goddess Dana or Danu, were gods from Greece (some say, of the Golden race) who came to Ireland enshrouded by a magical mist which hid the sun and their appearance for three days and nights..." (White 18). This supports the idea of the church that the banshee is a demon, because it is the descendant of a Pagan goddess. Women are that to be bringers of life because they give birth to children. So the tale of the banshee being the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After I transmute, I casually walk back to the kitchen where I was afore, when I was shocked by my friend's appearance. • 27. Women 's Suffrage Movement : The Perfect Woman Women have been treated and portrayed similarly throughout history–– Made to be housewives and handmaidens to men of all ages and expected to be the "perfect woman", a standard image created by––shocker––men. In fifth–century Greece, the "perfect" woman was expected to obey her husbands at all times. The "perfect" English Renaissance women was meant to be seen, not heard. The "perfect" woman of the eighteen hundreds was given novels to read. Novels that held lighter topics than the newspapers of the day, such as intemperance, nothing too heavy because "once a woman starts reading, she starts getting ideas" (indirect quote from Beauty and the Beast). The tables began to turn in 1848, when the first women's suffrage movement convention was held in Seneca Falls, when women began to realize what Emma Goldman voiced years later in 1915. The "perfect woman" image began to crumble. Skirts became shorter, topics became heavier, women started thinking, forming ideas, becoming more outspoken, creating their own image, without the aid of men. Slowly, they climbed their way up, proving to be more independent and more than what men thought them to be. How women were viewed as by a society, and their evolution of independence, has bled through in literature, especially through female deities in ancient mythologies. Over time, goddesses of different mythologies have grown bolder and more powerful as the world finally noticed that women were actually people, not pretty trophies. Greek, ... The Realism movements of the 19th century advocated naturalism in reaction to the stylized and idealized depictions of subjects in Romanticism, but many painters have adopted a similar approach over the centuries. One example of Naturalism is the artwork of American artist William Bliss Baker, whose landscape paintings are considered some of the best examples of the naturalist movement. By an unknown artist, the sculpture is thought to date from the period 220 BC – 190 BC (though some scholars date it as early as 250 BC or as late as 180 BC). Her drapery serves to dramatically emphasize both her dynamic forward movement against the wind and her full, robust form–her powerful thighs and the active, contracted muscles of her torso. The drapery clings with thin, long, and uneven ripples to her breasts, abdomen, right leg, and left thigh, its near transparency revealing these parts of the body almost as if they were nude. Excess fabric forms heavy yet dynamically irregular shapes and bunches. A long, uneven arc of cloth between her legs accentuates their motion and implies the counter–force of the wind against her body. The sculptor draws attention to this downward arc with a swath of drapery that flies forward from the left hip and collides in a V–shape with the longer swath at the Nike's pelvis. At the same time, in the back of the statue fabric soars out behind the figure in rigid crests. The effect of this drapery is choppy and uneven, the wind whipping the cloth as it does sea below into irregular peaks and troughs. Goddess worship was gradually combined with worship of male Gods to produce a variety of Pagan religions, thus losing some of its singular focus on the female as a deity. Goddess Worship during the Christian era was molded by more dominant outside forces. As Judaism, Christianity & eventually Islam evolved, the Pagan religions were suppressed and the female principle was gradually driven out of religion. Consequently women were reduced to a level inferior to men. The God, King, Priest & Father replaced the Goddess, Queen, Priestess & Mother (Miles 24). A woman's testimony was not considered significant in courts, women were not allowed to speak in churches, and positions of authority in the church were (almost without exception) limited to men. A feminine presence was added to Christianity when the Virgin Mary was named Theotokos (Mother of God). However, her role was heavily restricted and included none of the fertility components present in Pagan religions. A low point in the life of women was reached during the Renaissance, when hundreds of thousands of suspected female witches were exterminated being burned and hanged. The painting depicts the moment the goddess Venus first emerges from the waters of the sea and prepares to step onto the shore. Through linear techinques and artistic symbolism, the painting not only depicts the story and narrative of the goddess Venus's birth but also seeks to exhibit the many different types of love and adoration which surround the creation of life. Her form is soft and womanly and the seashell that she rides on also reflects the thought that she is unblemished and untouched, much like a pearl. Her hair is speckled with fine gold and is flowing naturally. It also serves to naturally cover her naked body and suggest an innocent and almost Eve like quality. This also is a deliberate attempt at recreating art from earlier Greek works which embraced the natural beauty of the body, especially amongst the gods and goddesses of ancient Greece. Many critics such as Circa say "Most commonly the target of her affections was female". I disagree that her poetry shows a confession of a sensual relationship. Rather, it just lets out her emotive feelings. My argument is that her poetry is metaphorical showing a new and creative representation of the future. Sappho's work has been criticised by many scholars, one of which being Nazianzen. Sappho's books were burned by Christians in the year 380 A.D. at the instigation of Pope Gregory Nazianzen. "Melodic" is a word which sums up the overall feeling of her poetry (Isle of Lesbos: Poetry of Sappho, 1995). If we are in a position to call her poetry 'sensual', other than the specific odes, her poetry does not have a specific addressee. Although she was a teacher, so the feelings she expresses in her poetry may be towards her students, who came to her for help. Sappho has become familiar in the field of woman–love that two of the most popular words to describe female homosexuality––lesbian and Sapphic have derived from her (Isle of Lesbos: Poetry of Sappho, 1995). The potential that her work relates to love with these lexis referring back to her, provides quite sufficient reasoning. Immortal Aphrodite varies in each line with its use of long and short sounded vowels. This determined a difference to the way ancient Greek sounded. In a similar way we could add stresses to her poetry making the higher pitches she expresses unstressed and the lower pitched syllables stressed. Adding stresses to her work is not favoured as it removes a classical critical factor from the art of her lyric poetry. If the reader or listener uses their imagination and uses their knowledge of vowel length and pitch change then this poem is readable and understandable. Mythology is the study and interpretation of oten sacred tales or fables of a culture known as "myths" or the collection of such stores which usually deal with the human condition, good and evil, human origins, life and death, the afterlife, and the gods or goddesses (Mark). A goddess in particular to mythology is the goddess Aphrodite. The Goddess of Love and Beauty, who beguiled all, gods and men alike; or mockingly at those her wiles had conquered; the irresistible goddess who stole away the wits of the wise (Hamilton). Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, was the most powerful goddess of the opposite sex with her power of love and beauty. There are two unique stories on how Aphrodite was born. The first story begins as the goddess of beauty and love was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus (Heaven), after his son Cronus threw them into the sea (Aphrodite). Her name has been explained as meaning "the foam risen." Aphros is foam in Greek. This sea birth took place near Cythera, from where she was wafted to Cyprus. Both islands were ever after sacred to her, and she was called Cytherea or the Cyprian as often as by her proper name (Hamilton). In the second story, she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione in the Iliad (Hamilton). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 53. Duality In Sylvia Plath's Two Sisters Of Persephone Duality occasionally results as the cause for suffering, while it is a product of the mind, it can often revolve around condemnation and the fear of judgement. Sylvia Plath's poem, "Two Sisters of Persephone" illuminates the idea of the duality that exists within a woman's personality. The title "Two Sisters of Persephone" suggests that there are two sisters being described in this poem, when in reality, Plath allures the reader by revealing that the two designated qualities actually deal with the two lives that Persephone endured as the Goddess of the Spring and the Queen of the Underworld. Plath conveys the concept of dualism through the purposeful use of structure, and depicting imagery to illustrate the contrasting lives of the renowned deity, Persephone. Primarily, Plath illuminates her emphasis on contrast through the use of caesuras. The first caesura, "Two girls there are: within the house" (1), introduces the foil of Persephone's dual personalities. This is significant as it elucidates the concept of there being two people within one character setting. In this case the two girls portrayed in the house allude to the existent impression that women are two– faced. Women are known to have two sides for they only ultimately show what is perceived as face– value, and preserve their other individual persona hidden. Similarly, Plath uses a second example of a caesura, "One sits; the other, without" (2), to clarify the erratic contrast amongst her two personalities. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Female Goddesses In Hindu Women On one hand Female goddesses also act as a powerful role models for Hindu women by setting an example of how the ideal Hindu woman must be. Goddesses such as Devi and Parvati were usually seen as consorts of the male Gods. These goddesses inspire women to diligently serve their husbands while still following the dharmas set for them by their caste and society. In a sense, the Goddesses' beauty, grace, and even charismatic behavior is expected by the married women in the Hindu society. Some goddesses also show Hindu women to be more strong and take control over their actions and mistakes. For example, Goddess Durga, is considered to be a very good role model of Feminist movements in India. It is said that she represents the violent and destructive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This being said, the goddesses also tend to be overshadowed by the male gods. They are often shown as passive consorts of the male gods and are therefore often considered to be less important than the more prominent male deities. This can lead to the assumption that the Indian women must serve their husbands just as the female deities serve their consorts. The female deities are also not a part of the Hindu trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) that represent the gods of creation, preservation and destruction. As the trimurti represents some of the most powerful gods in the Hindu religion, the fact that none of the female deities are part of it, almost gives off a sense that they are not as powerful as the male deities. The goddesses also show that the women's destiny is to sometimes even sacrifice herself for her husband. One big example of this was Sati. Sati, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati was the married to Lord Shiva against her father's wishes and lived with the lord on the mountain of Kailasha. Because he did not approve this marriage, Daksha Prajapati invited every god to his yajna other than Lord Shiva ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indeed, the paint brush of this practice appears to be broad among the fertility goddesses, for this domination became witnessed repeatedly in various lands; instigating unwanted pregnancy. The goal of my research is to demonstrate how renewed and reconceptualised images of modern Goddesses are symbolic for female empowerment. My research seeks to demonstrate a shift in understanding about gendered perspectives regarding stereotypical female deities by looking at how the Goddess movement has grown in popularity in the West and more specifically, the Hamilton neo–pagan community. Introduction My research examines how the Goddess movement can be understood as a means to provide women with an alternative and meaningful spiritual path, enabling them to develop a stronger sense of self–worth and community.
