Proposal to Revitalize a Community Center
Delivered to Sharon Bailey
Community Leader
April 10, 2014
Kanesha Robinson, St. Petersburg College Student
krobin25@live.spcollege.edu
Overview
 If the proper steps are taken the center can become beneficial to
the community.
 A utilized center will help bring the community closer together.
The Opportunity
 Gather neighborhood leaders and other residents together to open
community center on a daily basis.
 Get volunteers from the community to help set up programs for the
youth in the neighborhood.
Key Success Factors
 The key to a successful community center is the volunteers. In order
for the community center to be successful there will need to be
plenty of volunteers to help run the center.
Analysis of Opportunities
 An alternative to using the community center for children is to rent it
out for events.
Strategic Solution Option
 The best solution is to use the building for the afterschool program
and other activities for children in the community.
Audience Analysis
 Having a place where young children and young adults can come
together can be instrumental in keeping those children out of
trouble. The programs that are offered at a community center can
teach them teamwork and the importance of helping others.
Community centers can give children a chance to highlight any
special skills or talents that they may have.
Benefits
 Community centers help to keep children and teenagers off of the
street.
 A community center can be a valuable asset to a community in
that it gets neighbors together for the good of the community.
Risks
 It depends on volunteers to keep it running
 If there are not enough volunteers the kids will stop coming
 An underfunded center can cause a complete shutdown
Final Recommendation
 The community center implement an afterschool program where
the children can participate in a variety of different activities.
 1. Start an afterschool program.
 2. Start a music program.
 3. Start a sports program.
 4. Start a drama club.
 5. Start an arts program.
 6. Start cooking Lessons
 7. Build a computer lab.
