Editor's Notes
“A partnership can be defined as a collaborative relationship between organizations. The purpose of this relationship is to work toward shared goals through a division of labor that all parties agree on. Partnerships are complex vehicles for delivering practical solutions to societal and community issues. Studies of how partnerships operate indicate that organizations manage the complexity by adopting a long-term, flexible approach. During the course of their partnerships, organizations often evolve. They learn about effective management, build capacity, and gain valuable experiences. Therefore, a partnership can serve as a learning mechanism that teaches you to be better at what you do and enables you to achieve your organizational goals” (Frameworks for working together, nd.)
When working on a training course, it is important to start with who your audience will be the time frame of said training and learning goals.
Once the training is completed the learner will be able to effectively create partnerships in the workplace
The learner will be able to identify key components of effective partnership.
For the most part partnerships can be an amazing thing but sometimes it doesn’t work out. There are always advantages and disadvantages in almost anything that we set out to do. When taking a look at partnerships, some of the advantages are;
Shared Responsibility; It’s nice to know that within a partnership you can share all of the responsibilities, including making decisions and not all is on one shoulder. Also when the responsibility is shared, the accountability is just not one sided but your partner will hopefully help in all areas to ensure the success of the task/job.
Flexibility; More options to be more flexible when working with two or more
Decision making; It is often times challenging to make decisions, however, when working with a team or another person, you can talk it through wading out the pros and cons and coming up with a sound decision that will also keep everyone motivating within the task.
Work/ Life Balance; When there is a joint venture within the workplace, it can be a huge reward to work with peers to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner, allowing everyone to create a healthy balance.
Moral Support; We know that life and work can be challenging at times, so its nice to have moral support in a sometimes faced pace environment. Effective partnership can also lend encouraging words when needed.
Dis-Advantages
Disagreements; When working with one or more than, there can and most likely will be a form of disagreement, however, its up to the individuals to be opened minded to remove the disagreement and turn it into compromising.
Liability; depending on the situation within the workplace, when you create a partnership, everyone needs to understand each others capabilities so that there is not too much liability, around someone being involved or on the team but does not how to work the task.
Emotional Issues; If you don’t really have a great understanding of who you could potentially partner with you could end up taking on a lot of issues that can fume into emotional issues for you and the partnership.
The list described above are some of the most common partnerships, however, the last one, “peer partnership”, is important in the work environment. When working with different peers and establishing a partnership for a common goal is important and has great rewards. If the partnership is effective, everyone wins and most importantly the company should see a win in different areas when teams build partnership.
This team will be crucial to the success of the implementation stage, ensuring that the training materials are well thought out.
In a world where technology and software continues to be at the forefront of learning, it’s important to help keep learners engaged utilizing technology
A quick list of different formative assessments.
Observation, Peer/Self and Practice presentations are the ones we will use.
It is important for the learners to provide the facilitator with feedback on the course. Online anonyms is one of the ways that this can be done.
