•2nd August,1999- Head-On-head collision in Gaisal , West Bengal- 268 died, 359 injured .
•2nd December,2000- Sarai Banjaara rail disaster in Punjab – 46 died and 150 injured.
•3rd January, 2003- Ghatnandur rail crash in Maharastra – 18 died and 41 injured .
To get rid of these kind of accidents a team of Konkan Railways produced a
prototype of Anti Collision Device(ACD) based on Microprocessor and Global
Positioning System (GPS) technology.

7. The heart of the ACD is an Intel 80386 processor that
uses the DM&P M6 Intel chipset. It (ACD) has an integrated
digital radio modem and works on the VxWorks

GPS(Global Positioning System),
CCU(Command And Control unit),
Radio Trans-receiver,
ABU(Automatic Breaking Unit).
