Summer In A Closet
The story All Summer In A Day by Ray Bradbury is about a girl named Margot who doesn't quite fit
in with the rest of the kids. Margot moved from Earth to Venus because her parents had to have
money. But on Venus the sun only comes out every 7 years for only 1–2 hours. But as we all know
on Earth the sun is out every day for 12 hours, so Margot knows what the sun looks like. So all the
other kids are jealous of her so they throw her in a closet.
Margot got put in a closet because she was trying to describe what the sun looked like to the other
kids. But apparently the other kids got tired of her non–stop talking about the sun so they shoved her
in the closet. The sad thing was that they forgot all about Margot when the sun did come out, which

Descriptive Essay About My New House
I looked back at my house, the green peeling paint on the door, the ripped screen door, the huge
window at the top of the house, from which you could see into my room, and I only had one
thought, this is no longer my home. I tore my gaze away from the house and entered the car. The
floor had so much of our boxes and suitcases, I was forced to lift my feet so I could fit. My
neighbors weren't home yet, so I wasn't able to say goodbye to them. I wished they were there. I'd
always been really close with my neighbors. They took care of me when my sister was born, and
waited for my grandpa to take me to the hospital. I was especially close to the neighborhood kids;
ever since I could talk they came over almost every week. I wondered if my new neighborhood
would be like this. The engine vroomed to life and away from the beautiful, old house we went. In
less than ten minutes, we arrived at my new house. The front was undeniably gorgeous. The grass
was not the yellowish brown brought on from the drought, instead it was a lively green that I had
dreams about running in. The fall leaves around the trees enhanced the feeling of Christmas soon to
come and the stairs leading up to the front door were clean. They had no muddy footprints that I was
so used to seeing on my concrete. I walked up the steps slowly. I had a half–witted hope that if I
moved slow enough I'd end up back at the Azusa house. I didn't move slow enough. I walked
through the doorway and into a corridor type area

"You mean that I am going to have a step–siblings? I don't want any more siblings mom. For years
it's just been the us, why can't it stay that way?" I looked at my mom wanting her to say that it could
be that way, just us, forever. "Maggie why can't you just see that I am happy? I love Jonathan and
you'll just have to learn to love him too. Please just do this for me." My mom picked up the glass
vase that held the flowers from my parents wedding and slowly wrapped the case in newspaper and
set it in the box. She set the flowers down on the table and slowly taped the box shut and took it
outside and put it on the moving truck. "Mom?" I looked down at the flowers and gently picked

"Maggie honey are you getting ready to leave already?" I stopped and looked at my mom and
nodded. "Maggie do you mind taking Charlie back with you? We won't have enough room in the

who is eighteen the same age as me, walked over to my car and got in. I got behind the wheel and
started the car. "Wow. Nice car Mags. I mean Maggie." "You can call me Mags. I just don't like
Jonathan calling me that." I backed out of the driveway and started down the road towards my new
life, so fun. "Why?" I glanced over at Charlie. I was surprised he normally didn't say more than two
words to me whenever he saw me. "Uh," I stopped for a moment debating on whether or not to tell
him the truth. "It was a nickname my dad gave me before he died." "Oh. Well..." Charlie didn't know
what to say so he simply sat there as we drove to the new house. The rest of the ride was silent, even
the radio didn't fill the silence that was hanging in the air. When we pulled up to the house I sighed.
I didn't want to move not today, not tomorrow, never. I wanted to stay in the house I've lived in since
I was born. "Well. Ready for this?" Charlie twisted in his seat so he was looking at me. "Nope." I
said simply. There was no beating around the bush with this. "We should probably get in there and
claim rooms. I don't want a sucky room." I looked over at

Margot In The Closet
As soon as the students opened the door, Margot immediately freaked out. She started screaming
and bawling her eyes out. She calmed down for a few minutes, but then one of the kids said
something and she started to sob again. She fell to her knees. Then the teachers came into the class
and look straight at Margot. Stunned, that Margot was on her knees the teacher walked right over to
William and grabbed his arm and drug him out in the hall. Barely able to speak, William tells the
teachers that the he locked Margot in the closet because he didn't believe her about the sun. The
teachers didn't know what to do to punish William, so she sent him to the principal's office. When he
got down there he started to cry. As the teacher called William's

The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror's San Junipero
The Future of Oppression Black Mirror's "San Junipero" is an episode that, on the surface, seems to
be a simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San
Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be 'uploaded'
when they 'pass over', their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual
town. Both are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as 'tourists', allowed to test–
drive life in the virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance
overcomes Kelly's moral reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie's reservations of being out
with her sexuality. It also provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the
quadriplegia she suffered from an accident following her parents' poor reaction to her coming out,
that paralyzed her before she truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love
story, however, are levels that suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is
still very much in control, symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The
episode was written by Charlie Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege,
Brooker's work always comments on and critiques society's standards and future. By delaying the
reveal of crucial plot points, such as the fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an
advanced virtual reality, merely hinting at it with a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience
captive. Denying information and providing clues allows viewers to uncover the truth for
themselves, to speculate and remain active watchers. The story may differ depending on the viewer
because it truly depends on what the viewer has been trained to search for in media and what their
personal experiences and history are. All–in–all, the surface level story is simple enough to pick up
on. Even if viewers are not attuned to Brooker's subtle metaphor, subtle subtext, they will be able to
see the story of two women falling in love in a virtual town. Those attuned to his style or to interpret
within the context of oppression will see another

Prejudice In The Celluloid Closet
Ghazal Al Awad
Hollywood's Prejudice A controversial issue these days is over Hollywood's negative depictions of
homosexuality. Such portrayals were so focused on silencing queer people and basically putting
their emotions in the "closet." A documentary The Celluloid Closet, which is based on The Celluloid
Closet book by Vito Russo, analyzes the representation of gays and lesbians in Hollywood films
from the 1890s to the 1980s. The Celluloid Closet argues that Hollywood's portrayal of gays and
lesbians has often been harsh and homophobic, which led gays and lesbians characters to be defined
by their sexuality, lacking any character development throughout the plot.
According to the documentary, from the 1890s to the 1930s, homosexuality has been portrayed as a
source for ridicule and laughter. That period of time represented the archetype "the sissy;" however,
the sissy did not pose a threat on the representation of homosexuality because the sissy were

"The popularity of shows such as Will & Grace; La vie, la vie...; and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
demonstrates that networks are willing to feature queer characters as long as the shows draw high
ratings and generate profits for advertisers" ("Queer Representation"). According to the U.S. gay
rights organization Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), a study has found that
"only 17 of the 102 movies from major studios in 2013 featured lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender characters and, of those 17, the majority were offensive and defamatory portrayals."
GLAAD have found the Vito Russo Test. To pass the Vito Russo Test, "a film must feature an LGBT
character 'not solely or predominantly defined by their sexual orientation or gender identity,' and
who, if removed from the film, would significantly affect the plot." However, only seven out of the
17 films that portrayed LGBTQ characters were able to pass

Abstract:
This report examines 'Another Closest', a promotion organisation that utilises social justice practices
to impact social, cultural and political changes in connection to domestic violence between same sex
couples. "The reality is that domestic violence occurs at approximately the same rate in gay and
lesbian relationships as it does in heterosexual unions." (Elliot, P., 1996) The data in this report has

In relation to respect and recognition given to the LGBTIQ community experiencing domestic and
family violence, 'Another Closet' encourages a sense of agency and hope in a way that empowers
victims to stand up for themselves and find the light in such a dark situation. The care about the
victims and emphasis them to tell their stories in a compassionate manor in which makes them feel
safe and helping them recognise power relationships and what to do if you ever find yourself in a
victimising situation.
Social Practices:
Riggle, et.al, (2008) emphasises Fraser's social practices of connectedness and belonging. 'Another
Closet' through a sense of connectedness and belonging creates a sense of belonging among the
LGBTIQ community experiencing domestic violence. The website shares numerous cultivating
networks in which connect victims to be able to share their story and connect as a community and
help each other get through some of the darkest times in their lives. 'Another Closet' is a serious site
which is both informative in the signs of domestic violence among the LGBTIQ community and
providing the means for one to save themselves. It is confronting as seeing the names and faces of
those who have suffered and who have told their stories to help others brings a whole minority
together to help fight against domestic violence and making sure everyone receives the help

The Ones Who Walk Away From The By Ursula Le Guin
The topic of Ursula Le Guin's short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" is of
conscientiousness. The theme revolves around how people are often willing to excuse awful things
if it's for their own gain. The first element that led me to the theme is the tone of the story.
Specifically, the clashing of the tones between the narrator is describing the city of Omelas and
when they are describing the child and the room he/she is kept in. When describing the city, the tone
is very bright and exultant; the narrator tries their best to make this place sound like the utopia it
supposedly is: "With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to
the city Omelas, bright–towered by the sea. The rigging of the boats in harbor sparkled with flags. In
the streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old moss–grown gardens and
under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings, processions moved," (Guin 1). The
picture that is painted here is one of pure bliss, almost fairy–tale like cheerfulness. This is in stark
contrast to the dark and dismal way that the child and the room that they are kept in is described:
"The floor is dirt, a little damp to the touch, as cellar dirt usually is. The room is about three paces
long and two wide.... The people at the door never say anything, but the child, who has not always
lived in the tool room, and can remember sunlight and its mother 's voice, sometimes speaks. "I will
be good," it

offender. In this next paragraph I will talk about how a three year old was ducked taped in a closet.

be more careful because you would never know who around might be a sex offender. Men should be
the ones who should always protect the women and not disrespect them. We should never touch a

Have you ever try to go back to your ex's house to get your stuff and your ex is dating someone at

story on how me and my ex girlfriend broke up was that we were arguing to much over the littlest

Unbeknownst to the children, Hanna had an ulterior motive for getting all of them out of the house.
One was never sure what brought on a Pinch. It usually took place when all seven were at school.
They would come home to immaculate bedrooms, minus their favorite toys of course.
It could have been the stress of having seven children under foot for the two weeks of Christmas
vacation or the toys strewn all over the house. The mountains of laundry, tripping over shoes, boots
and skates littering the hallway and stairs was enough to send anyone over the edge. Wet mittens
covering every heating register in the entire house, blocking the heat to warm the chilled rooms may
have caused Hanna to snap as she went into a frenzy grabbing all the wet mittens and tossing them
into a laundry basket.
From the couch, Millie watched as Hanna methodically snatched

It was too late, the sun was gone. A huge burst of regret and remorse went through their bodies.

The Dual Meaning Of The Closet
Henry Urbach uncovers the dual meaning of the closet as an architectural container and metaphoric
location to mask sexual identity. As an architectural container, the closet is a place where things are
stored. Putting away things that are not needed or wanted for display. The closet allows a room to
look cleaner and less clutter. Centuries ago closets were mainly wardrobes, how do closets from
today's society compare to closet wardrobes that were used years ago? Typically we say "your
clothes are in the closet" or " the towels are in the closet" but when people say, " Jake has come out
of the closet" we don't literally mean he walked out of a closet unit, but he or she has revealed their
sexual identity. This phrase is used because being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term "coming out of the closet" is from the 20th century. It is hard for the person to come out
with who they really are. Although the decision to come out is a personal one, disclosure has been
facilitated by a variety of institutions and social movements: The re appropriation of stigmatizing
labels, (finding words that are less pejorative to describe a stigmatized group) advocacy and support
groups (a second social phenomenon that facilitates disclosure is the advocacy and support groups
made up of people who are out) and outing (a third phenomenon related to disclosure is outing).
(Corrigan, P .2003) According to Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, Braun (2006), "the development of
a lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) sexual identity is a complex and often difficult process. Unlike
members of other minority groups (e.g., ethnic and racial minorities), most LGB individuals are not
raised in a community of similar others from whom they learn about their identity and who reinforce
and support that identity. Rather, LGB individuals are often raised in communities that are either

I was 11 when my parents were taken away. I remember vividly what happened that day. It had been

father was a farmer and my mother packaged items to send to 'The Central'. The night was cold, and
because my family were 'brown eyes' we were treated differently from the others meaning that we

It was Friday, we were armed. There was about one hundred of us ready to fight, although not even

Experiment With The 100 Mit's Sloan School Of Management
Why Everything Is Relative Even When It Shouldn't Be?
Everything is relative based off the decoy effect. The experiment with the 100 MIT's Sloan School

No one selected the decoy option print only. After removing the decoy options only 68 students

Evaluate The Closet Analysis
Evacuate the Closet Our lives are a kaleidoscope of vivid memories and experiences. There are good
memories we relive over and over in our heads; there are brutal ones we wish we could forget. Over
time, these experiences become a part of who we are, whether we like it or not. Therein lies a forked
road. Do we make the most of the situation and move on, or do we dwell on the past and choose a
path of embitterment? For all my life, I have considered myself as a sort of oddity. I didn't speak
English for most of primary school. My customs were different from my American classmates.
Being different became the norm for me; I wasn't really bothered by it. I learned to overcome all the
little sarcastic comments made by the other children in school. For the most part, everything was
okay. Everything was okay until I started my junior year of high school. By the beginning of my
junior year, I knew that I was gay. I had spent enough time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

my research, I pulled out passages condemning every day actions as sins; this only seemed to
incense her more. That night, I went to sleep emotionally exhausted. It felt as if my world and
family was falling apart. As time went by, I discovered that I had misinterpreted my mom's anger.
The nightly tears she shed in what she thought was secret, revealed to me that she wasn't angry; she
was extremely worried and frightened. Being a religious woman, she obviously didn't want her son
to go to hell. It occurred to me that my angry reaction may have done more harm than good. I

The Celluloid Closet Movie Analysis
The Celluloid Closet is a documentary directed/written by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. The
film shows numerous clips of actors who act in the role as a gay, bisexual, transgender, or a lesbian
character. This movie gives the audience a great insight of what it like to make a movie like that in
Hollywood. They interview men and women who either portray as a character in the film, by giving
their personal experience what it like to be that character they portray, or either directed/written a
movie about it. In the beginning of the film, the word SISSY is a trait in a boy or a man that
associate with feminine behavior or style. It can also be a woman with muscular traits.
Does Sissy liberate? Yes, Hollywood allowed it. Sissy's was never open about their sexuality they
were mainly like a subliminal in a film. The subject was never discussed privately or even in public,
but you knew by the behavior of the men or women. Hollywood industry felt that if a man dress as a
woman they think it comedy. When a woman dress as a man they think she look pretty or sexy for
both men and women. Looking through the history of homosexual, gay and lesbian films, you can
see the progress, but you can also see the era in the time when people at once was afraid to now
people are more open. For example, in the 1920s people was more scared to come out and be who
they are. At the time not, much actors wanted to act or portray as homosexual because they thought
it will ruin their career. Compare

the attacks. He finds a key in his father's closet and ventures out into the city to find who it belongs
to. During this adventure Oskar attempts to find closure and shows his true emotions. The title

Still In The Closet
Social Justice
By:Yanna Rossiter
How many times have you heard someone was describing something as "gay", or used the word
"fag" to talk about their friends when they are messing around. At NHS, I feel like I've heard it a bit
too many times. I've heard it shouted from across the hall, but some teachers tend not to care if there
are any repercussions. None of these students really know how this affects the people who actually
are gay, or still in the closet.. If you're in the LGBTQ Community, for me anyways, it hurts when
someone yells "That's gay" because I think, "how so, how are these clothes gay, they didn't go the
nerve–racking choice to tell their parents that they weren't like the other kids at school." Yes, they've
spent some time in the closet, but it isn't the same. Students can feel ambushed by these words
because people use them as an insult. It is suppose to make the person they're telling feel bad about
whatever they are being judged about. How is that okay? What if someone is still in the closet, and
you call their outfit gay, you're saying "you're outfit looks so bad, so I'm going to call it gay." It's
also the same with the word "dyke" People feel like it's bad to be one, when really that person is just

Analysis Of Bad Day By Daniel Poster
Bad Day by Daniel Poster has been a song that has influenced my life since I can remember. It is
really the first song that i remember hearing from my child hood. Every time it came on the radio
me and my mom blasted it. The song goes through the motion in a third person narrative of someone
having a bad day. I remembered during my childhood when I was having a bad day I would blast
this song and it would make me in a better mood. It really begin the foundation of music for me.
This song spoke volumes to me and it would instantly change my mood when I heard it. Now when
I hear it I instantly am drawn to memories of me and my mother blasting it. It takes me back to my
child hood in a way. I remember my favorite lines from the song was, "You're taking one down. You
sing a sad song just to turn it around." Its ironic, but sometimes listening to sad music will brighten
my mood. I related a lot with that verse and the rest of the song. This is why Bad Day by Daniel
Poster is part of my attention collection project. Scooby Doo is another piece of my attention
project. Growing up I didn't really like watching a lot of television, but I do remember loving the
show Scooby Doo. I was interested in always trying to figure out the mystery of who was the person
behind all the mischief. I remember when I was sick I would watch Scooby Doo. It was a big part of
my child hood and I also still like to watch it today. It has taught me that the real monsters are not

Dorian Gray Closet
Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray has several major preoccupations which are integral in
understanding the depths in which it goes in formulating its central message. The novel presents
itself almost as an essay, with a preface concluding with the statement "All art is quite useless"
(Wilde 4). From this preface, to its conclusion, it deals with the role of art as catharsis for the artist;
however, not only as a release of emotion, but also as a "closet" for the artist's innermost desires.
The novel literally expresses this through its first lines, "The artist is the creator of beautiful things /
to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim" (Wilde 3). Thus, art acts as a vehicle to conceal that
which the person truly yearns and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrative of the novel displays the fallibility of art as a closet by means of this portrait. When
the artist imbues their sins and virtues into the very foundation of their work, they become visible
for all audiences. Dorian may not paint the portrait, but he shares a similar relationship with it; it is
him it reflects. The portrait mirrors Dorian and paints his longings on a canvas for all to see: "the
face on the canvas bear the burden of his passions and his sins; that the painted image might be
seared with the lines of suffering and thought, and that he might keep all the delicate bloom [...]
Eternal youth, infinite passion, passions subtle and secret, wild joys and wilder sins–he was to have
all these things. The portrait was to bear the burden of his shame" (Wilde 77, 88). The portrait
embodies Dorian, everything he does, everything he wants, and everything he feels, the portrait
projects. This further perpetuates the closet analogy; however, it also circumvents the metaphor
itself, art does not conceal, it reveals. When Basil Hallward perceives the fruit of his labor after
Dorian infuses it with himself, his response shows the portrait's failure to conceal: "There was
something in its expression that filled him with disgust and loathing [...] it was from within,
apparently, that the foulness and horror had come. Through some strange quickening of inner life the
leprosies of sin were slowly eating the thing away" (Wilde 130–2). Art in this scenario fails as a
closet and lays bare the sins of Dorian Gray, it is unable to hide that which he desires. Wilde states
that "Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. / Those who read the symbol do so at
their peril" (Wilde 3) but here, there is no beneath. The hidden intentions the work professes are
visible from a brief

Short Story : ' Walk Closet '
Walk in closet
Walk in closet is a rather late invention. It started appearing in modern homes in early 20th century.
Before that period a walk in wardrobe as we know it today, was not commonly seen even in the
most elaborately designed houses. A regally decorated dressing room was however a common
feature of many 19th century homes.
If you are planning to design a dressing room for your home, you can easily go through the dressing
room pictures presented on this site and model a walk in closet based on any of the designs
presented here.
Walk in closet ideas
Compared to some of the princely mansions of the past, modern houses have very different
requirements. That however should not deter you from planning for dressing room designs. A
variety of layouts suitable for small rooms as well as the expansive ones is now available for you to
choose from.
An en suite changing room generally follows a U–pattern which helps to make an optimal use of the
available space. The next best option is L–shaped layouts, particularly if the available space is not
adequate enough to go for more detailed walk in closet designs. When you have an oblong shaped
room you can consider building a galley style walk in closet.
One wall closets are the most suitable option for tiny spaces. This can be built in an open plan
bedroom as well. Before you choose any of these options, measure the space and see which one of
the dressing room design ideas would be most appropriate for the space. Bespoke

Examples Of Skeletons In The Closet
When we overhear a discussion about skeletons in the closet, they may not necessarily be talking
about a collection of bones. Instead, they may be referring to secretive skeletons from their past
hidden deep in the dark closets of their mind. They go out of their way to conceal them, knowing if
divulged they could cause pain and humiliation by embarrassing or destroying an otherwise
unblemished reputation, even ruining lives forever. When we say, "I have skeletons in my closet"
that's our way of saying, "I'm not telling you about my past escapades, it might change your opinion
of me," or simply "I'll protect my secrets and they can never come back to bite me." Without a
doubt, everyone has skeletons known only to them hidden away in the closet ... Show more content

Philosophy Of Clutter
Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth and revitalization. As we open our doors to the warmer weather,
the weight of a messy house can be overwhelming. The urge to spring clean spawns a bloom of yard
sales. But it's not enough to simply purge and reduce, we need to organize to prevent clutter from
magically reappearing.
"A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHIG IN IT'S PLACE"
"Some people are going to naturally be cluttered unless they get the help of someone like an . . .
organizer to get them to understand how they can make better choices as to what they keep and how
to store it. But even an organized person who doesn't have a system they can use in a closet or office
or garage or pantry will still going to really struggle without the framework." ... Show more content

THE PHILOSOPHY OF ORGANZATION METHODS
Some discards are a no–brainer: jeans that are too small and out of style, stacks of newspapers and
junk mail, or baking pans that haven't seen cake since the dawn of the Paleo diet. The judgment
becomes trickier when we consider items we love for sentimental reasons. Approaches range from
Marie Kando's minimalist, scorched–earth purge to Christina Waters' recognition/value of "creative
clutter."
DISCARDING – STAGE 1
Kondo's minimalist approach states that keepsakes brought joy and value to your life in the moment,
but it's probably time to move on. Whatever her critics claim, Kondo has developed an impressive
purging method that groups possession by category followed by sorting in a specific sequence. Only
items that currently bring you joy or purpose remain. The effect can be dramatic. (details

Tom had wanted to kill Dickie "before, once or twice or three times," (95) but Tom makes the
decision to actually do so after Dickie has once again accused Tom of being gay, this time after Tom
ogles the gay acrobats on the beach in Cannes. Tom feels "a sharp thrust of shame" and is reminded
of "Aunt Dottie's taunt: Sissy! He's a sissy from the ground up" (94). Tom is, at least partially,
motivated by Dickie's rejection of Tom's suspected infatuation with him. This aligns with the strain
of the gay villain in which "gay and lesbian characters...are no longer victims but victimizers ––

mother for her unintuitive organization of the various kitchen supplies.
"Bottom drawer, next to the freezer," she yelled, somehow sensing his difficulty from the bedroom.
He cursed her again and shut the door, coming out with a thick roll of semi–clear plastic sheeting.
As if setting the table for an impending feast, my father began to drape the plastic over the long

Personal Narrative Story : A Short Story
Lub–dub, lub–dub. My heart raced, I stood on the edge of the stairs. I waited, listened, and then

Back at home, there was chaos. The dishes clattered before their arrival. Stemming from the

8. The next time you have to go poking around a dark place like your crawl space or fusebox, have a

Celluloid Closet Stereotypes
The Celluloid Closet explores representation in film and its enormous effect on American culture.
Although the film was originally released in 1995, many of the same issues around queer
representation in media still remain over twenty years later. Gay characters are often the sidekick in
stories revolving around heterosexual heroes, and queer stereotypes like "The Sissy" still persistent
nearly 80 years after the character first appeared; and although queer erasure is not a prevalent as it
was in the 1950s and 1960s, with entire plots being changed to hide queer elements, queer stories
are still hijacked in subtler ways. Notably, queer characters are still regularly played by straight
actors. Furthermore, these straight actors often win prestigious

The Closet Murder
"Goooo to the closeeeeet. Goooo to the closeeeet." said an unknown voice.
。。。。。。。。
Jame's eyes jerked open. What happened!? thought Jame. "Wake up! Wake up Jame!" said Adelicia
as she shook him. Jame quickly sat up and blushed. "What's wrong?", he said as he rubbed his eyes.
"The principal wants you in his office!" Jame suddenly woke up fully, "Why?"
"Uh, I think it is because you dream walked to the closet down the corridor."
。。。。。。。。
"The closet. What's wrong with the closet? Why did they see me going to the closet? When did they
see me going to the closet? But why me? Why do I sleep walk to the closet? What is the problem of
sleepwalking to the closet?, " thought Jame as he was walking to the principal's office to get
questioned. He shivered. He had a bad feeling, and his bad feelings never told lies.
James is what you would consider to be a regular was a 12 year old boy from America. He had
short, straight brown hair, olive colored skin and blue green colored eyes. He looked just like every
other 12 year old boy but he has a crazy story to tell.
The school Jame is in is a school called Henry Jek. It is named after the principal. It looks like a
great mansion for a haunted story. Most of the windows were blocked up with wood. There is a
humongous wooden door that groans every time you open it. There is nothing alive in the gardens of
it except the lively sunlight.
The principal's room had no windows, it only had one small candle that lit the room up with
creepiness.

Summer In A Closet

  • 1. Summer In A Closet The story All Summer In A Day by Ray Bradbury is about a girl named Margot who doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the kids. Margot moved from Earth to Venus because her parents had to have money. But on Venus the sun only comes out every 7 years for only 1–2 hours. But as we all know on Earth the sun is out every day for 12 hours, so Margot knows what the sun looks like. So all the other kids are jealous of her so they throw her in a closet. Margot got put in a closet because she was trying to describe what the sun looked like to the other kids. But apparently the other kids got tired of her non–stop talking about the sun so they shoved her in the closet. The sad thing was that they forgot all about Margot when the sun did come out, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Descriptive Essay About My New House I looked back at my house, the green peeling paint on the door, the ripped screen door, the huge window at the top of the house, from which you could see into my room, and I only had one thought, this is no longer my home. I tore my gaze away from the house and entered the car. The floor had so much of our boxes and suitcases, I was forced to lift my feet so I could fit. My neighbors weren't home yet, so I wasn't able to say goodbye to them. I wished they were there. I'd always been really close with my neighbors. They took care of me when my sister was born, and waited for my grandpa to take me to the hospital. I was especially close to the neighborhood kids; ever since I could talk they came over almost every week. I wondered if my new neighborhood would be like this. The engine vroomed to life and away from the beautiful, old house we went. In less than ten minutes, we arrived at my new house. The front was undeniably gorgeous. The grass was not the yellowish brown brought on from the drought, instead it was a lively green that I had dreams about running in. The fall leaves around the trees enhanced the feeling of Christmas soon to come and the stairs leading up to the front door were clean. They had no muddy footprints that I was so used to seeing on my concrete. I walked up the steps slowly. I had a half–witted hope that if I moved slow enough I'd end up back at the Azusa house. I didn't move slow enough. I walked through the doorway and into a corridor type area ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For years it's just been the us, why can't it stay that way?" I looked at my mom wanting her to say that it could be that way, just us, forever. "Maggie why can't you just see that I am happy? I love Jonathan and you'll just have to learn to love him too. Please just do this for me." My mom picked up the glass vase that held the flowers from my parents wedding and slowly wrapped the case in newspaper and set it in the box. She set the flowers down on the table and slowly taped the box shut and took it outside and put it on the moving truck. "Mom?" I got behind the wheel and started the car. "Wow. Nice car Mags. I mean Maggie." "You can call me Mags. I just don't like Jonathan calling me that." I backed out of the driveway and started down the road towards my new life, so fun. "Why?" I glanced over at Charlie. I was surprised he normally didn't say more than two words to me whenever he saw me. "Uh," I stopped for a moment debating on whether or not to tell him the truth. "It was a nickname my dad gave me before he died." "Oh. Well..." Charlie didn't know what to say so he simply sat there as we drove to the new house. The rest of the ride was silent, even the radio didn't fill the silence that was hanging in the air. When we pulled up to the house I sighed. I didn't want to move not today, not tomorrow, never. I wanted to stay in the house I've lived in since I was born. "Well. Ready for this?" Charlie twisted in his seat so he was looking at me. "Nope." I said simply. There was no beating around the bush with this. "We should probably get in there and claim rooms. I don't want a sucky room." I looked over at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She calmed down for a few minutes, but then one of the kids said something and she started to sob again. She fell to her knees. Then the teachers came into the class and look straight at Margot. Stunned, that Margot was on her knees the teacher walked right over to William and grabbed his arm and drug him out in the hall. Barely able to speak, William tells the teachers that the he locked Margot in the closet because he didn't believe her about the sun. • 13. The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror's San Junipero The Future of Oppression Black Mirror's "San Junipero" is an episode that, on the surface, seems to be a simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be 'uploaded' when they 'pass over', their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual town. Both are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as 'tourists', allowed to test– drive life in the virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance overcomes Kelly's moral reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie's reservations of being out with her sexuality. It also provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the quadriplegia she suffered from an accident following her parents' poor reaction to her coming out, that paralyzed her before she truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love story, however, are levels that suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is still very much in control, symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The episode was written by Charlie Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege, Brooker's work always comments on and critiques society's standards and future. By delaying the reveal of crucial plot points, such as the fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an advanced virtual reality, merely hinting at it with a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience captive. Denying information and providing clues allows viewers to uncover the truth for themselves, to speculate and remain active watchers. The story may differ depending on the viewer because it truly depends on what the viewer has been trained to search for in media and what their personal experiences and history are. All–in–all, the surface level story is simple enough to pick up on. Even if viewers are not attuned to Brooker's subtle metaphor, subtle subtext, they will be able to see the story of two women falling in love in a virtual town. Those attuned to his style or to interpret within the context of oppression will see another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Prejudice In The Celluloid Closet Ghazal Al Awad Hollywood's Prejudice A controversial issue these days is over Hollywood's negative depictions of homosexuality. Such portrayals were so focused on silencing queer people and basically putting their emotions in the "closet." A documentary The Celluloid Closet, which is based on The Celluloid Closet book by Vito Russo, analyzes the representation of gays and lesbians in Hollywood films from the 1890s to the 1980s. The Celluloid Closet argues that Hollywood's portrayal of gays and lesbians has often been harsh and homophobic, which led gays and lesbians characters to be defined by their sexuality, lacking any character development throughout the plot. According to the documentary, from the 1890s to the 1930s, homosexuality has been portrayed as a source for ridicule and laughter. That period of time represented the archetype "the sissy;" however, the sissy did not pose a threat on the representation of homosexuality because the sissy were between ... • 20. The Ones Who Walk Away From The By Ursula Le Guin The topic of Ursula Le Guin's short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" is of conscientiousness. The theme revolves around how people are often willing to excuse awful things if it's for their own gain. The first element that led me to the theme is the tone of the story. Specifically, the clashing of the tones between the narrator is describing the city of Omelas and when they are describing the child and the room he/she is kept in. When describing the city, the tone is very bright and exultant; the narrator tries their best to make this place sound like the utopia it supposedly is: "With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to the city Omelas, bright–towered by the sea. The rigging of the boats in harbor sparkled with flags. In the streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old moss–grown gardens and under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings, processions moved," (Guin 1). The picture that is painted here is one of pure bliss, almost fairy–tale like cheerfulness. This is in stark contrast to the dark and dismal way that the child and the room that they are kept in is described: "The floor is dirt, a little damp to the touch, as cellar dirt usually is. The room is about three paces long and two wide.... The people at the door never say anything, but the child, who has not always lived in the tool room, and can remember sunlight and its mother 's voice, sometimes speaks. "I will be good," it ... In this next paragraph I will talk about how a three year old was ducked taped in a closet. On January 21, 2016 they have found a young girl that was three year old ducked tapped into a closet. This is really important because we need to be more careful because you would never know who around might be a sex offender. Men should be the ones who should always protect the women and not disrespect them. We should never touch a girl because there will be consequences and can go to jail for most of your life. "On the day of the attack, six of the inmates left the classroom, but 21–year–old Jacob Harvey remained. He stabbed the woman repeatedly with a pen, choked her, slammed her head into the floor, tore off her clothes and raped her. There was no supervision from correctional officers, the victim said." It was only a matter of time before bodily injury would befall one of the players. Millie, the only girl in the mix, held her own, body checking and high sticking. One was never sure what brought on a Pinch. It usually took place when all seven were at school. They would come home to immaculate bedrooms, minus their favorite toys of course. It could have been the stress of having seven children under foot for the two weeks of Christmas vacation or the toys strewn all over the house. The mountains of laundry, tripping over shoes, boots and skates littering the hallway and stairs was enough to send anyone over the edge. Wet mittens covering every heating register in the entire house, blocking the heat to warm the chilled rooms may have caused Hanna to snap as she went into a frenzy grabbing all the wet mittens and tossing them into a laundry basket. As an architectural container, the closet is a place where things are stored. Putting away things that are not needed or wanted for display. The closet allows a room to look cleaner and less clutter. Centuries ago closets were mainly wardrobes, how do closets from today's society compare to closet wardrobes that were used years ago? Typically we say "your clothes are in the closet" or " the towels are in the closet" but when people say, " Jake has come out of the closet" we don't literally mean he walked out of a closet unit, but he or she has revealed their sexual identity. There are good memories we relive over and over in our heads; there are brutal ones we wish we could forget. Over time, these experiences become a part of who we are, whether we like it or not. Therein lies a forked road. Do we make the most of the situation and move on, or do we dwell on the past and choose a path of embitterment? For all my life, I have considered myself as a sort of oddity. I didn't speak English for most of primary school. My customs were different from my American classmates. It is really the first song that i remember hearing from my child hood. Every time it came on the radio me and my mom blasted it. The song goes through the motion in a third person narrative of someone having a bad day. I remembered during my childhood when I was having a bad day I would blast this song and it would make me in a better mood. It really begin the foundation of music for me. This song spoke volumes to me and it would instantly change my mood when I heard it. Now when I hear it I instantly am drawn to memories of me and my mother blasting it. • 56. Dorian Gray Closet Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray has several major preoccupations which are integral in understanding the depths in which it goes in formulating its central message. The novel presents itself almost as an essay, with a preface concluding with the statement "All art is quite useless" (Wilde 4). From this preface, to its conclusion, it deals with the role of art as catharsis for the artist; however, not only as a release of emotion, but also as a "closet" for the artist's innermost desires. The novel literally expresses this through its first lines, "The artist is the creator of beautiful things / to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim" (Wilde 3). Thus, art acts as a vehicle to conceal that which the person truly yearns and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrative of the novel displays the fallibility of art as a closet by means of this portrait. When the artist imbues their sins and virtues into the very foundation of their work, they become visible for all audiences. Dorian may not paint the portrait, but he shares a similar relationship with it; it is him it reflects. The portrait mirrors Dorian and paints his longings on a canvas for all to see: "the face on the canvas bear the burden of his passions and his sins; that the painted image might be seared with the lines of suffering and thought, and that he might keep all the delicate bloom [...] Eternal youth, infinite passion, passions subtle and secret, wild joys and wilder sins–he was to have all these things. The portrait was to bear the burden of his shame" (Wilde 77, 88). The portrait embodies Dorian, everything he does, everything he wants, and everything he feels, the portrait projects. This further perpetuates the closet analogy; however, it also circumvents the metaphor itself, art does not conceal, it reveals. When Basil Hallward perceives the fruit of his labor after Dorian infuses it with himself, his response shows the portrait's failure to conceal: "There was something in its expression that filled him with disgust and loathing [...] it was from within, apparently, that the foulness and horror had come. Through some strange quickening of inner life the leprosies of sin were slowly eating the thing away" (Wilde 130–2). Art in this scenario fails as a closet and lays bare the sins of Dorian Gray, it is unable to hide that which he desires. Wilde states that "Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. / Those who read the symbol do so at their peril" (Wilde 3) but here, there is no beneath. • 58. Short Story : ' Walk Closet ' Walk in closet Walk in closet is a rather late invention. It started appearing in modern homes in early 20th century. Before that period a walk in wardrobe as we know it today, was not commonly seen even in the most elaborately designed houses. A regally decorated dressing room was however a common feature of many 19th century homes. If you are planning to design a dressing room for your home, you can easily go through the dressing room pictures presented on this site and model a walk in closet based on any of the designs presented here. Walk in closet ideas Compared to some of the princely mansions of the past, modern houses have very different requirements. That however should not deter you from planning for dressing room designs. A variety of layouts suitable for small rooms as well as the expansive ones is now available for you to choose from. An en suite changing room generally follows a U–pattern which helps to make an optimal use of the available space. The next best option is L–shaped layouts, particularly if the available space is not adequate enough to go for more detailed walk in closet designs. When you have an oblong shaped room you can consider building a galley style walk in closet. One wall closets are the most suitable option for tiny spaces. This can be built in an open plan bedroom as well. Before you choose any of these options, measure the space and see which one of the dressing room design ideas would be most appropriate for the space. Bespoke ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But even an organized person who doesn't have a system they can use in a closet or office or garage or pantry will still going to really struggle without the framework." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Searching for lost items, buying replacements for stuff you already have, and paying for storage units are some of the costs. It can also be draining, zap your creativity, stressful. Piles of clutter are reminders represent a decision delayed. Do I use this piece? Should I repair it? The Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui seeks to find harmony between a person and their environment. Feng Shui experts insist messy, disorganized spaces stall and de–engergize Ch'i or an area's "life force." THE PHILOSOPHY OF ORGANZATION METHODS Some discards are a no–brainer: jeans that are too small and out of style, stacks of newspapers and junk mail, or baking pans that haven't seen cake since the dawn of the Paleo diet. The judgment becomes trickier when we consider items we love for sentimental reasons. Approaches range from Marie Kando's minimalist, scorched–earth purge to Christina Waters' recognition/value of "creative clutter." DISCARDING – STAGE 1 Kondo's minimalist approach states that keepsakes brought joy and value to your life in the moment, but it's probably time to move on. Whatever her critics claim, Kondo has developed an impressive purging method that groups possession by category followed by sorting in a specific sequence. Only items that currently bring you joy or purpose remain. The effect can be dramatic. (details ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. The Celluloid Closet Essay Tom had wanted to kill Dickie "before, once or twice or three times," (95) but Tom makes the decision to actually do so after Dickie has once again accused Tom of being gay, this time after Tom ogles the gay acrobats on the beach in Cannes. Tom feels "a sharp thrust of shame" and is reminded of "Aunt Dottie's taunt: Sissy! He's a sissy from the ground up" (94). Tom is, at least partially, motivated by Dickie's rejection of Tom's suspected infatuation with him. This aligns with the strain of the gay villain in which "gay and lesbian characters...are no longer victims but victimizers –– psychopaths, who murder the objects of their affection" (The Celluloid Closet), particularly when they are rejected. Some statements offered during the decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When seeing Dickie and Marge kiss, "[w]hat disgusted Tom was that he knew Dickie didn't mean it" (74), and Tom runs home to dress in Dickie's clothing, tell an imaginary Marge that not only does Dickie not love her, but that "there is a bond between" Tom and Dickie (75–76). It is implied that Tom has feelings for Dickie, and when it is made evident that Dickie will not reciprocate these feelings, Tom turns to violence. This imagined murder would not be too different from a crime of passion and jealousy; crimes of passion are prevalent in society, and largely understandable, yet the reader was often left wondering if Tom Ripley felt any passion toward anything. In fact, most of Tom's rage is directed toward the femininity and implied heterosexuality of Marge––upon seeing Dickie and Marge's kiss, "[w]hat disgusted him was the big bulge of her behind in the peasant skirt" ... Bucket lists are a great idea for people who want to achieve or do things in their life. Making my own professional grade cosplay (#28 on my list). Cosplay is a mix of two terms, costume and play. It's where you basically dress up as a character from a show/movie/book and act as that character. I want to learn to sew, using a sewing machine, and be able to make the outfits that the characters, that I choose, wears. I want to do this because I think have this ability to make and sew complete outfits would be awesome. I love the rush and light thrill of cosplay. • 68. Persuasive Essay On Closets Although the winter season is filled with celebration, love and family–time it can also be coupled with lots of clutter! The transition from winter to spring doesn't just happen with weather and food but also all throughout the house. There is nothing quite like being able to open up all your windows and doors and transform your home from it's winter version to it's spring–ready self! • 70. What Are They Doing Home So Early? Fuck, what are they doing home so early?" My dog, Rosco, barked and propped his shaggy paws up onto the window sill, tail wagging with an energy which I could never fathom exerting for anything or anyone. The blue Honda pulled in, immediately followed by my father's shiny Tesla. I hoped that he would get me a nice car for graduation because, at the time, things like that mattered to me. Quickly, I moved from the sofa and turned off the T.V. before slipping into the slatted coat closet. In hindsight, it was a stupid place to hide. But, I had stayed up all night to play Fallout, so I wasn't exactly thinking straight. What a shit day to skip school. Through the thin slits in the closet door, I could see my father drop the man's arms and walk into the kitchen. Rosco continued to play with his new friend. His friend did not play back. The sound of drawers opening caught my attention and I could hear the low grumbling of my father, cursing my mother for her unintuitive organization of the various kitchen supplies. "Bottom drawer, next to the freezer," she yelled, somehow sensing his difficulty from the bedroom. He cursed her again and shut the door, coming out with a thick roll of semi–clear plastic sheeting. As if setting the table for an impending feast, my father began to drape the plastic over the long wooden coffee table. Then he lifted the man, who seemed to still be breathing, atop the sheeting and covered the floors, taping the seams with focused precision. After completing the strange task, he bound the stranger's arms and roped him to the table–top. "Alright, is he ready?" "Dammit woman, you're always rushing me." "Oh? Well, I'm so sorry," she hummed, walking into my view, dressed in something straight off of a Victoria's Secret mannequin. My mother hovered over the man for a moment before sitting on his stomach, crossing her arms impatiently and turning to the kitchen where, I could only assume, my father was presently standing. • 72. Personal Narrative Story : A Short Story Lub–dub, lub–dub. My heart raced, I stood on the edge of the stairs. I waited, listened, and then stepped down slowly. My grip tenacious on the basket, my eyes flickering, I searched for movements. Now, I had to run into the room, put my five quarters in, put our clothes in, shut the cover, and race back up to our apartment. I had to be careful. I didn't want to interrupt a gang meeting in the dark and cold basement of our apartment's laundry room. This was Saturday morning. Back at home, there was chaos. The dishes clattered before their arrival. Stemming from the crowded stove, the sweltering steam stained my mother's face. As she paced the foot length's width between stove and sink, I prepared for the long night, moving tables and pushing back sofas so there would be more room. In the coat closet, climbing into a basket filled with plastic bags I stepped on our luggage and stepped into another laundry basket, where I kept all my jeans, to switch off the lights and close the door, this was my closet. Across the bathroom I shut the shutters of the bookcase piled with my brother's clothes atop my father's textbooks. While bordering pillows around the walls to conceal the holes, I heard knocks. I dashed towards our bedroom and shut the door tightly before the knob fell into my hand. I did not want them to see my mattress and my brother's crib two feet from my parents' bed. I did not want them to know we only had one bedroom. Filing in groups, the visitors came quietly and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Celluloid Closet Stereotypes The Celluloid Closet explores representation in film and its enormous effect on American culture. Although the film was originally released in 1995, many of the same issues around queer representation in media still remain over twenty years later. Gay characters are often the sidekick in stories revolving around heterosexual heroes, and queer stereotypes like "The Sissy" still persistent nearly 80 years after the character first appeared; and although queer erasure is not a prevalent as it was in the 1950s and 1960s, with entire plots being changed to hide queer elements, queer stories are still hijacked in subtler ways. Notably, queer characters are still regularly played by straight actors. Furthermore, these straight actors often win prestigious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
