Persuasive Tones
Tone is a very important part in writing essays, letters, articles, and even ads. There are many
different tones you can use in your writing. If you are writing an argumentative writing then tone
can either strengthen or weaken your argument. For example these two sixth graders named Dave
Kessler and Janet Chen, wrote argumentative letters to their schools editor about ads in their
schools. Dave Kessler chose to use a persuasive tone in his letter, saying that he thinks ads in
schools should be banned. This strengthened his argument a lot because he needed to get his point
across. For example, " Advertising may allow a school to get a brand new scoreboard, books or
band uniforms, but the price students pay is too great"(Kessler 1). With

Persuasive Essay On Self Care
A crucial step to living free is self–care. So, what is self–care? Self–care is (different for every
person)unique on an individual basis. Leonowicz stated, "With this in mind, there cannot be one
blanket strategy for practicing self–care (Leonowicz, 2)."One must feed his or her emotional,
physical, mental, and spiritual needs. On an emotional standpoint, this may include surrounding
yourself with people with healing potential(or who exude positive energy and thus are helpers at
healing the soul . For example, I have friends who are able to change my negative mood to positive
mood in a matter of seconds. Having these friendships are not only therapeutic and but also a
necessity to maintaining my mental wellness. In addition to the emotional aspect, one must take
care of his or her physical needs. This is different for each person; some may need to nourish their
bodies with more healthy food and water, whereas others need to be more active and exercise
more. From a mental perspective, an individual could require more academic stimuli to thrive and
hence more exposure in a university setting. Also, some may need stress relief from their jobs and
family. There are a number of mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga and tai chi. On a
spiritual level, some people may find peace in religion and prayer. music to heal ones soul. These are
all simple examples of different ways to achieve self–care and peace of mind.
After enumerating the aforementioned aspects of self–care,

Challenges Of Giving A Speech
Life is about challenges and there are challenges we face by having to give a speech as well as
the stress on what to give a speech over to keep your audience attentive. We connect with each other
through the words we speak whether it is in a large group or one on one in a working interview. A
teacher has to learn how to communicate in many different ways to help every student learn in their
own unique way.
I always found it hard to pick a topic that I want to discuss or write about. In my opinion, it is easier
to give a speech that you are well familiar with than having to do research to educate yourself on
something you know nothing about. Being able to give a speech on something you already know
will allow you to speak without having to look off of your legal pad, furthermore builds trust with
the audience, but will it be a strong enough speech to keep everyone's attention. What you know,
they may already know. Knowing who you will be giving a speech to will help you with the details
of what you should inform the audience about. In my opinion, it is in the power of the speech.
The power of a speech can be remembered for a lifetime. It is not what you say, but how you say it.
You want to give a speech that they will remember, therefore, it is all about the details in your
speech. Knowing whom you will be speaking to and the knowledge they already know is important.
You want to inform the audience, not give them the basic information they already know. That will

Persuasive Essay On Suicide Prevention
Why should anyone care about someone's life beyond their own? It seems like common sense.
People should value human life just like they value their own but with the rate of suicide, it's clear
they don't. Suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily (Merriam–Webster, n/a.)
Suicide prevention has not been viewed as something valuable to fund and that's contributing to the
rate of suicide today. People need to care simply because people are dying. People are taking their
own lives because the value place on mental health is not considered as high as the value placed
on physical health. Not many people are ending their own lives because of a broken leg, but
because their mental health is so invasive and painful they can no longer deal with the burden of
living with it. Humanity can move forward in helping the mentally ill by looking at the statistics
and providing active methods to help them. Each year 34,598 people die by suicide. That
balances out to an average of 94 suicides a day. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Those are just completed
suicides, where it ends in death. 864,960 suicides are attempted a year. This means that every 38
seconds, one person attempts suicide. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) People are attempting to end their
lives at an alarming high rate each and every day. Because of this, suicide ranks as the eleventh
leading cause of death across all ages (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) In fact, more people are dying from
suicide than homicide. So each year 34,598 completed suicides take place. In comparison to that,
only 18,361 homicides take place each year (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Both are absolutely
devastating but only one can possibly be prevented. Homicides tend to be isolated, unpredictable
events with nothing visible leading up to them so there's no method of preventing them. However,
with suicide, occasionally there are warning signs and when noticed, preventive action can take
place. Suicide on college campuses is a growing issue. The rate of suicide of college campuses is
.5 and 7.5 per 100,000 among college students (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) There are more than 1,000
completed suicides per year on college campuses. (Suicide Statistics, n/a) Suicide may only be the

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be
successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in
meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that
highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success
is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race,
religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for
everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It"
encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it
happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which
include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun
(Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed
the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am
also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as
confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to
work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.

Essay On Vaccinate Children
It is generally not questioned when a doctor says, "Take this medicine. You need it to get better."
or "Your baby needs antibiotics to clear up that ear infection.". Doctors do know what they are
doing, but it is good to research on one's own time especially on such a controversial topic as such.
Especially on topics that affect your children. On the topic of whether or not to vaccinate children,
most people are uninformed and unaware of the risks and effects that come with vaccines so
consequently they blindly get vaccines for their children without really knowing what they are
injecting themselves with.
Forget the "diluted" virus in the vaccine, because that is not the only thing that is in the vaccine.
There are so many chemicals and ingredients...show more content...
There are ingredients that America uses and consumes that other countries have banned. It is
interesting to then think of why we trust the government and health organizations to have our best
interest in mind when they obviously do not. Being a christian, and reading the portion of God's
word that says, "... the love of money is the root of all evil", and so it is necessary to research why
the vaccine was made and who made it, the side effects, and what exactly is in it. It is necessary to
consider someone's advice– especially when they are gaining personally from you following
(blindly or not) what they have convinced you to be the truth. There are many instances where
doctors and registered nurses do not want to get vaccines due to knowing the truth about the
harmful properties they contain. When the H1N1 flu virus was being spread around, a mandate in
New York was established to enforce a mandatory rule that healthcare workers must get the flu shot.
Both a pregnant doctor and a Registered Nurse (RN) refused and rebelled against the mandate and
even filed a lawsuit (Thomas

Why We Should Legalize Drugs
Drugs are a major influential force in our country today. The problem has gotten so out of hand
that many people are even considering legalization of one of the most used drugs, marijuana. The
legalization of marijuana is a controversial issue that has been fought for and against for several
decades. Marijuana is defined as a preparation made from the dried flower clusters and leaves of the
cannabis plant, which is usually smoked or eaten to induce euphoria and to heal and soothe.
(dictionalr.com)
The first benefit to the legalization of marijuana would be the decreased spending on law
enforcement. Many of America's jails are filled to the brim with people who got long and unfair
sentences for possession of the drug. Part of the...show more content...
If marijuana were legal, it would also bring a significant source of revenue to the United States. A
lot of money currently is spent on drugs, and most of it goes to illegal operators outside of the
country. If legalized, the pot revenue would go to Americans. In the current economic climate, this
would definitely be welcome. A tax could also be put on the drug, and the companies that grew and
possessed the plants would have to pay income taxes to the government. It is possible for marijuana
to become one of the number one cash crops in though whole country. And with all the people who
would smoke it, or use it in other ways, it could quickly become one of the main stimulators in our
economy.
The part of the government fighting the drug war could also focus on more important drugs like
cocaine and heroin, instead of a drug that is proven to not be as harmful. In the 1930s, the American
media spread numerous false stories that marijuana was an extremely dangerous drug and therefore
marijuana and hemp were banned in 1938. It is clear that the ban on marijuana in the United States
was unnecessary because most of the things we believe to be true about the drug were just scare
tactics made up by the government at the time to get people to want to get rid of all drugs.
Marijuana has been found to alleviate symptoms of serious diseases. Asthma, glaucoma, and muscle
spasms are just a few. It has also been proven to help a

Persuasive Essay On Procrastination
Have you ever postponed something super important because you wanted to have fun on a Friday
night? Convincing yourself "Oh, I'll just get it done tomorrow?" This action of putting off a task
until the next day or a later time is called procrastination. Someone displaying procrastination would
either be delaying their work for another job that they consider more important or distracting
themselves with an activity that is more interesting. Many people believe that only disorganized or
lazy people acquire or pick up this intrusive habit, but I disagree with this misconception. Productive
people, too, occasionally lack the desire to get things done on time. Take for example myself; I have
always struggled with this mannerism and even more...show more content...
The prefrontal cortex is what makes an individual decide to engage in a task. With that in mind,
putting work off makes it easier for the limbic system to dominate and give immediate pleasure
feelings which the brain prefers. In other words, people begin to manipulate this perception and
enjoy the short–term effects because it becomes more satisfying not to complete the task. This
habit can start to control how or when we choose to tend to our responsibilities (Spencer). I
recognize this feeling on a daily basis. For example, there was a day that I decided I was going to
study in the library as I would hopefully be more productive in that setting. However, as soon as I
sat down I began to fiddle with everything I could get my hands on. From obnoxiously twirling my
pencil to watching time–consuming YouTube videos, I wasn 't very productive, and as a result, I
had to cram until two AM for an exam the next day. I had always known thatprocrastination was
satisfying, and now with this new information that confirms that it feeds off of my "good" feelings
based on my body 's anatomy. Moving on, I then researched how to recognize why myself and
others procrastinate in the first place. The first reason people procrastinate is that they "become"
perfectionists. As procrastination becomes a more common act, it can also bring about the action of
perfectionism. Harold Taylor does a fantastic job at identifying perfectionism, along with other
reasons

Persuasive Essay On Cyber Security
Over the past few years we have seen a massive surge in terrorist attacks carried out by Islamic
fundamentalists, which has forced the US government to take action in hopes of preventing future
attacks. Part of this action has come in the form of increased online surveillance on US citizens. At
first glance, the danger in this is not immediately apparent, but with the information leaked by
Edward Snowden it is becoming all too clear what kind of danger this represents. To be perfectly
clear, the purpose of this paper is not to delve into conspiracy theories about the government using
this surveillance to keeps its citizens in check like some Orwellian dystopian society. Rather, this is
simply to highlight how dangerous the methods used in this type of surveillance is to cyber security,
and how inefficient it is at stopping terrorism. In the past, terrorism is something that has always
had a presence in the world be live in, whether it be from racial/ethnic supremacists, radical
nationalists, religious zealots, or anarchists. Regardless of which group it was that claimed
responsibility for a heinous act of violence, people did not live in fear of being a victim of a
terrorist attack, because the attacks were either so infrequent or small in scale, it just registered as
an unfortunate tragedy. Now all of that has changed, if a person were to ask, "Where was it that
fifteen people were killed in that ISIS attack last year?" They would most likely be asked, "Which
one?" It

Persuasive Essay Internships
When I started off as a college student, I always asked people what I could do to increase my
chances of finding a job right after college. Often times, I found that the only advice they would
offer me was to have a couple of internships under my belt. Now, I'll admit I was always entirely
turned off by this idea. I wanted to get advice that would help me sneak my way to the top without
having to do an internship. Mainly because as a broke college student I wanted to find a job where I
would get paid, not a non–paid internship where I would deliver coffee to a snobby boss who was
too cheap to hire an assistant and settled for an "intern" instead. So as you could imagine, hearing
people give me this advice made me roll my eyes. But, fast forward a few months later and here I
am, sitting at my own desk doing a paid internship for a kick ass agency. Surrounded by the biggest
warm–hearted goofballs I've ever had the blessing to know and learn from.
This internship has been the most real experience for me. I don't run out to get coffee, I don't
alphabetically sort number files (crossing my fingers this isn't a real task people have to do if so I'm
so sorry come intern here), or pick up anyone's dry cleaning. They work to push us outside of our
comfort zones and give us as close to a real agency experience as we could possible get. They jump
at every and any opportunity they have to show us how to grow and further develop our skills.

Persuasive Essay On Change In Life
Life is a whirlwind of events, situations, and lessons all wrapped into one. There is no one way to
live life correctly or to the greatest ability because each individual has a different perception of it.
Throughout the whirlwind, some of the lessons learned may benefit or harm us but at the end of the
day, life waits for none. Deciding to make a change in life can be one of the hardest yet most
fulfilling things a person can do. Whether a life change is occurring because one wants to be
healthier, or one wants to be more positive, the act can be intimidating at first. Although there are
different ways to go about it, there are at least four key steps to achieving and making a successful
lifestyle change and shift. The steps include acknowledging the problem and deciding on a new
lifestyle or what change to make, thoroughly researching the lifestyle and what it takes to attain it,
giving a layout or making a plan of the new lifestyle, and lastly having a self–reward system for the
successful transition. As a person it can be hard to admit when there is a problem or to even
acknowledge when there is a flaw within. Pride can be a preventative factor in making a lifestyle
change but can be rewarding when overcame. The first step towards change is accepting one needs
to be made. The solution lies within and finding it is as simple as self–realization of an issue. Being
aware of the obstacles that hinder growth into a new lifestyle allows the opportunity to make the
necessary changes, ultimately actuating the entire life changing process. Following the admission
of a problem, one must decide what to do about it and what type of life to transition to. Whether
the goal is to become more positive, lose weight, get better grades, or even have a better sleep
schedule, the first step to achieving it is deciding to make the change. After finally making the
decision to make a change within life, the journey continues on. When learning something new in
class time is spent studying and researching the topic in order to further understand and comprehend
it; the same logic is applied to a lifestyle change in the sense that the research done has to be even
more thorough. Some situations may require tiny changes over time

Essay on Wildfires
A wildfire is any instance of uncontrolled burning in grasslands, brush, or woodlands. Wildfires
destroy property and valuable natural resources, and may threaten the lives of people and animals.
Wildfires can occur at any time of the year, but usually occur during hot, dry weather. Wildfires are
usually signaled by dense smoke which may fill the air for miles around. The National Weather
Service, U.S. Forest Service, and State forestry agencies combine to give wildfire probability
forecasts. Local radio and television stations broadcast information and warnings on local fire
conditions. Wildfires pose an increasing threat to the residential United States. In 1987, 53,000 fires
consumed more than two million acres. By October 1988, almost...show more content...
On the actual day of the fire, the fire planners will again check such conditions as wind and
moisture content in the vegetation. The wind direction will determine where the fire is started. Fire
crews start the burn with a device called a drip torch. A drip torch is a can of fuel with a
flame–carrying wick at the end. When the crewmember tilts the wick toward the ground, a flame
streams out and ignites the vegetation. Most of the effort that goes into a prescribed fire is making
sure that it is contained in the boundaries set for the fire. Firefighters and fire suppression equipment
are near the site if the fire grows out of control (www.nps.gov/wica/fir–why.html, pgs. 1–3).
While not all the effects of prescribed burns are known some are very evident. The first of these
common effects is that vegetation and fallen dead material are burned creating an open forest floor.
This eliminates any fuel that could contribute to a high intensity fire in the future. When the fire
burns the organic material in the forest, nutrient rich ash is left behind. When the first rain comes,
the nutrients in the ash dissolve into the soil for the new plants to use. This process is called
nutrient recycling. These nutrients left in the soil are a good source of food for the young plants
that will begin to grow back. Another outcome of prescribed fire is that new growth begins
immediately after the fires have been extinguished. Within

Persuasive Speech On Sexual Assault
Did you know according to the national sexual violence resource center, 1 in 5 women, and 1 in
16 men will face sexual assault during their time at a college? And from rainn.org women in
school are 3x more likely to face it than women out of school( ). Hopefully that's as frightening to
you as it is to me. It is important that one day these statistics are lowered to 0. Today, I want to
give everyone more insight on how sexual assault can be stopped by letting you know about the
problems we face being in college when it comes to sexual assault and the laws and reasons that
make it difficult for victims to report. After stating the problems, I will present you with solutions
and the benefits your actions will have. So, let's get started. Because we are in college, most of us
probably spend some weekends out at the bars, parties or other events where alcohol is presented.
Around 89,000 cases of rape are reported annually and of those cases 7.2% occurs at parties or
other events, according to statistic brain. To be put that in a better Boone Pickens has 56,790
seats (O' Colly). So, that's almost 1.5 stadiums filled with people that have been sexually
assaulted at a parties. Just think about that for a moment, we ourselves either know people or are
the people who go out and have too much to drink sometimes, but is anybody asking to be
belittled or taken advantage of? Being at social events make people less aware, especially when
they are drinking, so their guard is being put down, which is how they may be taken advantage of.
Not only does sexual assault occur out at public events, but it also occurs in people's private time
as well. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who may just experienced sexual assault. Who did it
to you? Someone you've never met? Well, guess what if I told you it was your best friend, a
relative, or your boyfriend/girlfriend. According to the National Institute of Justice, approximately
90% of sexual assaults reported are committed by someone that they know ( ). You probably never
thought of that, just as most victims didn't. Because most victims do experience this from someone
they know, an estimated 63% of sexual assaults are never reported, according to NSRVC( ).
So why

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible
schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took
three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose
scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for
procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me,
being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the
class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a
god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would
ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on
the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed
home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself:
I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle
of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of
junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school
year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind
out these two semesters

Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art
Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and
communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's
views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border
this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from
the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying
definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene,
from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic
interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as
a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more
consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared
to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely
range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If
an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with
it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill
Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where
an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is
easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or
racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as
simple.
A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San
Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric,

Persuasive Speech About Zoos
For this persuasive speech, I needed to pick a topic that I was passionate about. I wanted to be
able to persuade people to see my side on an issue that I truly cared about. I stumbled across a
topic that I wrote a research paper on last semester, and I knew this was the topic that I needed to
use in my speech: abolishing zoos. I asked a few questions to my classmates to gauge their
support or dislike for zoos. I then took these results and figured out exactly who my target
audience was, and what kind of speech I would be giving. The following analysis goes over the
results from my survey and explains what these results mean in terms of my speech. The first
question that I asked my classmates was whether or not they had been to a zoo. This may seem
like a strange question to ask, but I had to make sure that the results that I used to guide my
speech were coming from people who had been to a zoo before. Luckily for me, all 12 of the
participants that took my survey had been to zoos before. I then began to ask about how people felt
after leaving zoos to see how they felt about...show more content...
I was also a little shocked that not a single person said that they think zoos should be abolished.

tailor my speech to this population and get them to understand that zoos are not beneficial to the
animals that they keep captive. I'm going to have to focus on how bad zoos are. I need to find
shocking behaviors that zoo animals exhibit to present to the class. If I take a strong stance against
this issue and use strong evidence that really shows that zoos are bad for the animals, I think I will

Persuasive Essay On Education Reform
Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to realize what their
purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain educational reforms, it has been hard for teachers to say
what they need to say. "In 40–plus states, the math and English guidelines determine the knowledge
students have to master by the end of each grade, what they'll be tested on this year, and in many
cases, how teachers and principals will be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released"
(Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be reconsidered.
Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No Child Left Behind, Race to the
Top, and Common Core State Standards math and reading are declining. These standards tell
teachers what to teach and what the students should know by the end of the school year. The reforms
also evaluate teacher performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people
believe educational reforms should not be telling teachers how to teach their students, and others
believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the truth is educational
reforms are yet to be perfected.
One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students throughout the
country should all have the same high–quality standards. Issues and Controversies states,"All states
should adhere to similar academic standards so that American youth are

Interesting Topics For Persuasive Essay

  • 1. Persuasive Tones Tone is a very important part in writing essays, letters, articles, and even ads. There are many different tones you can use in your writing. If you are writing an argumentative writing then tone can either strengthen or weaken your argument. For example these two sixth graders named Dave Kessler and Janet Chen, wrote argumentative letters to their schools editor about ads in their schools. Dave Kessler chose to use a persuasive tone in his letter, saying that he thinks ads in schools should be banned. This strengthened his argument a lot because he needed to get his point across. For example, " Advertising may allow a school to get a brand new scoreboard, books or band uniforms, but the price students pay is too great"(Kessler 1). With Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Self Care A crucial step to living free is self–care. So, what is self–care? Self–care is (different for every person)unique on an individual basis. Leonowicz stated, "With this in mind, there cannot be one blanket strategy for practicing self–care (Leonowicz, 2)."One must feed his or her emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs. On an emotional standpoint, this may include surrounding yourself with people with healing potential(or who exude positive energy and thus are helpers at healing the soul . For example, I have friends who are able to change my negative mood to positive mood in a matter of seconds. Having these friendships are not only therapeutic and but also a necessity to maintaining my mental wellness. In addition to the emotional aspect, one must take care of his or her physical needs. This is different for each person; some may need to nourish their bodies with more healthy food and water, whereas others need to be more active and exercise more. From a mental perspective, an individual could require more academic stimuli to thrive and hence more exposure in a university setting. Also, some may need stress relief from their jobs and family. There are a number of mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga and tai chi. On a spiritual level, some people may find peace in religion and prayer. music to heal ones soul. These are all simple examples of different ways to achieve self–care and peace of mind. After enumerating the aforementioned aspects of self–care, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Challenges Of Giving A Speech Life is about challenges and there are challenges we face by having to give a speech as well as the stress on what to give a speech over to keep your audience attentive. We connect with each other through the words we speak whether it is in a large group or one on one in a working interview. A teacher has to learn how to communicate in many different ways to help every student learn in their own unique way. I always found it hard to pick a topic that I want to discuss or write about. In my opinion, it is easier to give a speech that you are well familiar with than having to do research to educate yourself on something you know nothing about. Being able to give a speech on something you already know will allow you to speak without having to look off of your legal pad, furthermore builds trust with the audience, but will it be a strong enough speech to keep everyone's attention. What you know, they may already know. Knowing who you will be giving a speech to will help you with the details of what you should inform the audience about. In my opinion, it is in the power of the speech. The power of a speech can be remembered for a lifetime. It is not what you say, but how you say it. You want to give a speech that they will remember, therefore, it is all about the details in your speech. Knowing whom you will be speaking to and the knowledge they already know is important. You want to inform the audience, not give them the basic information they already know. That will not engage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Suicide Prevention Why should anyone care about someone's life beyond their own? It seems like common sense. People should value human life just like they value their own but with the rate of suicide, it's clear they don't. Suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily (Merriam–Webster, n/a.) Suicide prevention has not been viewed as something valuable to fund and that's contributing to the rate of suicide today. People need to care simply because people are dying. People are taking their own lives because the value place on mental health is not considered as high as the value placed on physical health. Not many people are ending their own lives because of a broken leg, but because their mental health is so invasive and painful they can no longer deal with the burden of living with it. Humanity can move forward in helping the mentally ill by looking at the statistics and providing active methods to help them. Each year 34,598 people die by suicide. That balances out to an average of 94 suicides a day. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Those are just completed suicides, where it ends in death. 864,960 suicides are attempted a year. This means that every 38 seconds, one person attempts suicide. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) People are attempting to end their lives at an alarming high rate each and every day. Because of this, suicide ranks as the eleventh leading cause of death across all ages (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) In fact, more people are dying from suicide than homicide. So each year 34,598 completed suicides take place. In comparison to that, only 18,361 homicides take place each year (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Both are absolutely devastating but only one can possibly be prevented. Homicides tend to be isolated, unpredictable events with nothing visible leading up to them so there's no method of preventing them. However, with suicide, occasionally there are warning signs and when noticed, preventive action can take place. Suicide on college campuses is a growing issue. The rate of suicide of college campuses is .5 and 7.5 per 100,000 among college students (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) There are more than 1,000 completed suicides per year on college campuses. (Suicide Statistics, n/a) Suicide may only be the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive. By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay On Vaccinate Children It is generally not questioned when a doctor says, "Take this medicine. You need it to get better." or "Your baby needs antibiotics to clear up that ear infection.". Doctors do know what they are doing, but it is good to research on one's own time especially on such a controversial topic as such. Especially on topics that affect your children. On the topic of whether or not to vaccinate children, most people are uninformed and unaware of the risks and effects that come with vaccines so consequently they blindly get vaccines for their children without really knowing what they are injecting themselves with. Forget the "diluted" virus in the vaccine, because that is not the only thing that is in the vaccine. There are so many chemicals and ingredients...show more content... There are ingredients that America uses and consumes that other countries have banned. It is interesting to then think of why we trust the government and health organizations to have our best interest in mind when they obviously do not. Being a christian, and reading the portion of God's word that says, "... the love of money is the root of all evil", and so it is necessary to research why the vaccine was made and who made it, the side effects, and what exactly is in it. It is necessary to consider someone's advice– especially when they are gaining personally from you following (blindly or not) what they have convinced you to be the truth. There are many instances where doctors and registered nurses do not want to get vaccines due to knowing the truth about the harmful properties they contain. When the H1N1 flu virus was being spread around, a mandate in New York was established to enforce a mandatory rule that healthcare workers must get the flu shot. Both a pregnant doctor and a Registered Nurse (RN) refused and rebelled against the mandate and even filed a lawsuit (Thomas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Why We Should Legalize Drugs Drugs are a major influential force in our country today. The problem has gotten so out of hand that many people are even considering legalization of one of the most used drugs, marijuana. The legalization of marijuana is a controversial issue that has been fought for and against for several decades. Marijuana is defined as a preparation made from the dried flower clusters and leaves of the cannabis plant, which is usually smoked or eaten to induce euphoria and to heal and soothe. (dictionalr.com) The first benefit to the legalization of marijuana would be the decreased spending on law enforcement. Many of America's jails are filled to the brim with people who got long and unfair sentences for possession of the drug. Part of the...show more content... If marijuana were legal, it would also bring a significant source of revenue to the United States. A lot of money currently is spent on drugs, and most of it goes to illegal operators outside of the country. If legalized, the pot revenue would go to Americans. In the current economic climate, this would definitely be welcome. A tax could also be put on the drug, and the companies that grew and possessed the plants would have to pay income taxes to the government. It is possible for marijuana to become one of the number one cash crops in though whole country. And with all the people who would smoke it, or use it in other ways, it could quickly become one of the main stimulators in our economy. The part of the government fighting the drug war could also focus on more important drugs like cocaine and heroin, instead of a drug that is proven to not be as harmful. In the 1930s, the American media spread numerous false stories that marijuana was an extremely dangerous drug and therefore marijuana and hemp were banned in 1938. It is clear that the ban on marijuana in the United States was unnecessary because most of the things we believe to be true about the drug were just scare tactics made up by the government at the time to get people to want to get rid of all drugs. Marijuana has been found to alleviate symptoms of serious diseases. Asthma, glaucoma, and muscle spasms are just a few. It has also been proven to help a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Procrastination Have you ever postponed something super important because you wanted to have fun on a Friday night? Convincing yourself "Oh, I'll just get it done tomorrow?" This action of putting off a task until the next day or a later time is called procrastination. Someone displaying procrastination would either be delaying their work for another job that they consider more important or distracting themselves with an activity that is more interesting. Many people believe that only disorganized or lazy people acquire or pick up this intrusive habit, but I disagree with this misconception. Productive people, too, occasionally lack the desire to get things done on time. Take for example myself; I have always struggled with this mannerism and even more...show more content... The prefrontal cortex is what makes an individual decide to engage in a task. With that in mind, putting work off makes it easier for the limbic system to dominate and give immediate pleasure feelings which the brain prefers. In other words, people begin to manipulate this perception and enjoy the short–term effects because it becomes more satisfying not to complete the task. This habit can start to control how or when we choose to tend to our responsibilities (Spencer). I recognize this feeling on a daily basis. For example, there was a day that I decided I was going to study in the library as I would hopefully be more productive in that setting. However, as soon as I sat down I began to fiddle with everything I could get my hands on. From obnoxiously twirling my pencil to watching time–consuming YouTube videos, I wasn 't very productive, and as a result, I had to cram until two AM for an exam the next day. I had always known thatprocrastination was satisfying, and now with this new information that confirms that it feeds off of my "good" feelings based on my body 's anatomy. Moving on, I then researched how to recognize why myself and others procrastinate in the first place. The first reason people procrastinate is that they "become" perfectionists. As procrastination becomes a more common act, it can also bring about the action of perfectionism. Harold Taylor does a fantastic job at identifying perfectionism, along with other reasons Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Cyber Security Over the past few years we have seen a massive surge in terrorist attacks carried out by Islamic fundamentalists, which has forced the US government to take action in hopes of preventing future attacks. Part of this action has come in the form of increased online surveillance on US citizens. At first glance, the danger in this is not immediately apparent, but with the information leaked by Edward Snowden it is becoming all too clear what kind of danger this represents. To be perfectly clear, the purpose of this paper is not to delve into conspiracy theories about the government using this surveillance to keeps its citizens in check like some Orwellian dystopian society. Rather, this is simply to highlight how dangerous the methods used in this type of surveillance is to cyber security, and how inefficient it is at stopping terrorism. In the past, terrorism is something that has always had a presence in the world be live in, whether it be from racial/ethnic supremacists, radical nationalists, religious zealots, or anarchists. Regardless of which group it was that claimed responsibility for a heinous act of violence, people did not live in fear of being a victim of a terrorist attack, because the attacks were either so infrequent or small in scale, it just registered as an unfortunate tragedy. Now all of that has changed, if a person were to ask, "Where was it that fifteen people were killed in that ISIS attack last year?" They would most likely be asked, "Which one?" • 12. Persuasive Essay Internships When I started off as a college student, I always asked people what I could do to increase my chances of finding a job right after college. Often times, I found that the only advice they would offer me was to have a couple of internships under my belt. Now, I'll admit I was always entirely turned off by this idea. I wanted to get advice that would help me sneak my way to the top without having to do an internship. Mainly because as a broke college student I wanted to find a job where I would get paid, not a non–paid internship where I would deliver coffee to a snobby boss who was too cheap to hire an assistant and settled for an "intern" instead. So as you could imagine, hearing people give me this advice made me roll my eyes. But, fast forward a few months later and here I am, sitting at my own desk doing a paid internship for a kick ass agency. Surrounded by the biggest warm–hearted goofballs I've ever had the blessing to know and learn from. This internship has been the most real experience for me. I don't run out to get coffee, I don't alphabetically sort number files (crossing my fingers this isn't a real task people have to do if so I'm so sorry come intern here), or pick up anyone's dry cleaning. They work to push us outside of our comfort zones and give us as close to a real agency experience as we could possible get. They jump at every and any opportunity they have to show us how to grow and further develop our skills. On top of doing what they can to help us Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay On Change In Life Life is a whirlwind of events, situations, and lessons all wrapped into one. There is no one way to live life correctly or to the greatest ability because each individual has a different perception of it. Throughout the whirlwind, some of the lessons learned may benefit or harm us but at the end of the day, life waits for none. Deciding to make a change in life can be one of the hardest yet most fulfilling things a person can do. Whether a life change is occurring because one wants to be healthier, or one wants to be more positive, the act can be intimidating at first. Although there are different ways to go about it, there are at least four key steps to achieving and making a successful lifestyle change and shift. The steps include acknowledging the problem and deciding on a new lifestyle or what change to make, thoroughly researching the lifestyle and what it takes to attain it, giving a layout or making a plan of the new lifestyle, and lastly having a self–reward system for the successful transition. As a person it can be hard to admit when there is a problem or to even acknowledge when there is a flaw within. Pride can be a preventative factor in making a lifestyle change but can be rewarding when overcame. The first step towards change is accepting one needs to be made. The solution lies within and finding it is as simple as self–realization of an issue. Being aware of the obstacles that hinder growth into a new lifestyle allows the opportunity to make the necessary changes, ultimately actuating the entire life changing process. Following the admission of a problem, one must decide what to do about it and what type of life to transition to. Whether the goal is to become more positive, lose weight, get better grades, or even have a better sleep schedule, the first step to achieving it is deciding to make the change. After finally making the decision to make a change within life, the journey continues on. When learning something new in class time is spent studying and researching the topic in order to further understand and comprehend it; the same logic is applied to a lifestyle change in the sense that the research done has to be even more thorough. Some situations may require tiny changes over time Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Essay on Wildfires A wildfire is any instance of uncontrolled burning in grasslands, brush, or woodlands. Wildfires destroy property and valuable natural resources, and may threaten the lives of people and animals. Wildfires can occur at any time of the year, but usually occur during hot, dry weather. Wildfires are usually signaled by dense smoke which may fill the air for miles around. The National Weather Service, U.S. Forest Service, and State forestry agencies combine to give wildfire probability forecasts. Local radio and television stations broadcast information and warnings on local fire conditions. Wildfires pose an increasing threat to the residential United States. In 1987, 53,000 fires consumed more than two million acres. By October 1988, almost...show more content... On the actual day of the fire, the fire planners will again check such conditions as wind and moisture content in the vegetation. The wind direction will determine where the fire is started. Fire crews start the burn with a device called a drip torch. A drip torch is a can of fuel with a flame–carrying wick at the end. When the crewmember tilts the wick toward the ground, a flame streams out and ignites the vegetation. Most of the effort that goes into a prescribed fire is making sure that it is contained in the boundaries set for the fire. Firefighters and fire suppression equipment are near the site if the fire grows out of control (www.nps.gov/wica/fir–why.html, pgs. 1–3). While not all the effects of prescribed burns are known some are very evident. The first of these common effects is that vegetation and fallen dead material are burned creating an open forest floor. This eliminates any fuel that could contribute to a high intensity fire in the future. When the fire burns the organic material in the forest, nutrient rich ash is left behind. When the first rain comes, the nutrients in the ash dissolve into the soil for the new plants to use. This process is called nutrient recycling. These nutrients left in the soil are a good source of food for the young plants that will begin to grow back. Another outcome of prescribed fire is that new growth begins immediately after the fires have been extinguished. Within Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Speech On Sexual Assault Did you know according to the national sexual violence resource center, 1 in 5 women, and 1 in 16 men will face sexual assault during their time at a college? And from rainn.org women in school are 3x more likely to face it than women out of school( ). Hopefully that's as frightening to you as it is to me. It is important that one day these statistics are lowered to 0. Today, I want to give everyone more insight on how sexual assault can be stopped by letting you know about the problems we face being in college when it comes to sexual assault and the laws and reasons that make it difficult for victims to report. After stating the problems, I will present you with solutions and the benefits your actions will have. So, let's get started. Because we are in college, most of us probably spend some weekends out at the bars, parties or other events where alcohol is presented. Around 89,000 cases of rape are reported annually and of those cases 7.2% occurs at parties or other events, according to statistic brain. To be put that in a better Boone Pickens has 56,790 seats (O' Colly). So, that's almost 1.5 stadiums filled with people that have been sexually assaulted at a parties. Just think about that for a moment, we ourselves either know people or are the people who go out and have too much to drink sometimes, but is anybody asking to be belittled or taken advantage of? Being at social events make people less aware, especially when they are drinking, so their guard is being put down, which is how they may be taken advantage of. Not only does sexual assault occur out at public events, but it also occurs in people's private time as well. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who may just experienced sexual assault. Who did it to you? Someone you've never met? Well, guess what if I told you it was your best friend, a relative, or your boyfriend/girlfriend. According to the National Institute of Justice, approximately 90% of sexual assaults reported are committed by someone that they know ( ). You probably never thought of that, just as most victims didn't. Because most victims do experience this from someone they know, an estimated 63% of sexual assaults are never reported, according to NSRVC( ). So why Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Persuasive Essay On Online Classes Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent. Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple. A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Speech About Zoos For this persuasive speech, I needed to pick a topic that I was passionate about. I wanted to be able to persuade people to see my side on an issue that I truly cared about. I stumbled across a topic that I wrote a research paper on last semester, and I knew this was the topic that I needed to use in my speech: abolishing zoos. I asked a few questions to my classmates to gauge their support or dislike for zoos. I then took these results and figured out exactly who my target audience was, and what kind of speech I would be giving. The following analysis goes over the results from my survey and explains what these results mean in terms of my speech. The first question that I asked my classmates was whether or not they had been to a zoo. This may seem like a strange question to ask, but I had to make sure that the results that I used to guide my speech were coming from people who had been to a zoo before. Luckily for me, all 12 of the participants that took my survey had been to zoos before. I then began to ask about how people felt after leaving zoos to see how they felt about...show more content... I was also a little shocked that not a single person said that they think zoos should be abolished. These high numbers have really helped me because it has made it easy for me to see that my target audience needs to be audience members who zoos and are pleased with them. I'm going to tailor my speech to this population and get them to understand that zoos are not beneficial to the animals that they keep captive. I'm going to have to focus on how bad zoos are. I need to find shocking behaviors that zoo animals exhibit to present to the class. If I take a strong stance against this issue and use strong evidence that really shows that zoos are bad for the animals, I think I will be able to persuade my target audience to want to have zoos abolished like I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Persuasive Essay On Education Reform Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to realize what their purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain educational reforms, it has been hard for teachers to say what they need to say. "In 40–plus states, the math and English guidelines determine the knowledge students have to master by the end of each grade, what they'll be tested on this year, and in many cases, how teachers and principals will be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released" (Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be reconsidered. Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, and Common Core State Standards math and reading are declining. These standards tell teachers what to teach and what the students should know by the end of the school year. The reforms also evaluate teacher performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people believe educational reforms should not be telling teachers how to teach their students, and others believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the truth is educational reforms are yet to be perfected. One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students throughout the country should all have the same high–quality standards. Issues and Controversies states,"All states should adhere to similar academic standards so that American youth are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
