Animal Abuse Persuasive Essay
II. Campaign Theme or Focus
Statement and description of the issue to be addressed A major problem in today's society is that
animals are being abused globally. It doesn't matter if the animal is being starved, dehydrated,
neglected, beaten, or even straight out slaughtered: it's all some form of animal abuse. Some
animals, specifically dogs, are inbred and sold illegally. It's these abusive tendencies that this project
is focused on to build awareness toward these issues.
All types of animals are victims of abuse including dogs, cats, horses, chickens, cows, deer, goats,
rabbits, and many more. The sad fact is that no animal is safe from abuse because there are such
people that truly believe that any animal they come across can be used and treated as nothing more
than a defective toy for their own disgusting pleasure and enjoyment....show more content...
Accessed 11 Sept. 2017.
Rationale for selecting the issue This project was specifically chosen because animals are living
creatures that don't deserve such harsh treatments. Animals have emotions just like any other
human. If you were to see a child being abused, would you want to do something about it? And if
you care about a child, what makes an animal any different? Animals also aren't just considered as
pets or mere objects to most of society. Any animal with a home is usually considered a part of that
family. It's time to bring awareness to animal abuse so that animals without a loving home can
hopefully get one.

In the United States, animals are abandoned, beaten, and fighting for their survival every day.
Forced to live in unhygienic conditions with no water or food, they don't have very much hope as
they live out their days lacking the empathy or consideration that they deserve. Some are discovered
and rescued, given the opportunity to experience how magnificent their lives can be; others aren't so
fortunate. In order to change as country, we must stick up for these mistreated animal's rights and
seriously correct the mistakes of cold–hearted people who abuse them. It is up to us to stand up for
these creatures who lack a voice, because who will if we do not?
Cows, chickens, pigs, and other animals are living inside of inhumane factory farms where

Have you ever wondered what Animal Abuse or Animal Cruelty is? Both of these are when
someone is not giving their animal anything to eat or drink and they hurt the animal in every
possible way. Animal Abuse is a very serious problem and should be stop. If you want to help
than here are something you should do, Don't touch the person or animal when you see this
happening because they both can put you in harm's way, You should go get an adult like
someone you trust and go find help together, If you ever witness animal abuse get someone to call
911. There are many things that can happen from someone abusing animals. Some might become
serial killer or pedophile that might be right next door. Many people think that if a child does
animal abuse than they will act in a physical manner of violence to others. This one sociologist
Suzanne Goodney Lea agrees that "if a child is involved in animal abuse they are more likely to
commit physical crimes when they become adults than a child who did not participate in doing
animal abuse when they were young." This is talking about if the child abused animals when they
were young then they will abuse their girlfriends or wife when they get older. A woman named
Janie who is a pharmacist did some studies "that have shown rapist and pedophiles engaged in
animal abuse when they are young." There are many facts that prove to us that when some people
partake in sexual violence you would see that they have also been involved in animal

Imagine being thrown in cage, beaten, starved or forced to do something for no reason... other
than someone else's entertainment. We have all seen those ASPCA commercials showing
depressing pictures of beaten and starved animals asking for help, yet animal cruelty/abuse is still
a major problem. Even though on average, 1,920 animal cruelty cases are reported in the media
each year, thousands of cases are unreported or unnoticed by the public (Animal Cruelty Facts and
Stats). Regardless of animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time and thousands of
dollars in fines, it is still something which occurs on a daily basis across the United States and it
needs to be addressed in affective ways. To understand the issue, we must define key terms
related to animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is defined " legally... as any act of violence or neglect
that inflicts suffering or death on an animal" and it consists of two parts: passive and active
(Animal Cruelty). Passive cruelty is when animals are neglected by their owners, usually
unknowingly or unwillingly. For example, when a person hoards dozens of animals at a time and
doesn't have the means to care for every single one of them, the animals are withheld the
necessary care like food, water, shelter, veterinary care, etc. Active cruelty, on the other hand, is
when an animal is abused with the intention of inflicting injury or death. This is seen in
bloodsport, like dogfighting, in torture, beating, mutilation, poisoning, or shooting or when the
animal is kept in a confined cage (Animal Cruelty). Active cruelty is also seen in puppy mills or in
situations that turn a profit, like trafficking or animal breeding. The USDA provides many
guidelines regarding the care standards of the animals in the breeding mills, however most of
them have up to a thousand breeding animals so their care comes second to the profit they make
off of the offsprings. As early as five BC, Greek scientists have cut open live animals to study their
inner workings and used them to test whether or not drugs were safe to administer to humans. In
1876, England passed the Cruelty to Animals Act, which gave researchers certain guidelines to
abide to in order to get a license to test on

Animal cruelty is a serious issue in the U.S. and it needs to be stopped. Why would anyone be
cruel to animals? Why are animals used for entertainment? Should people I try to stop someone
from abusing an animal if they I see it? How can people I find out if a company tests its products on
animals? Data has stated that in America, 70.1% animal cruelty cases involved dogs, 20.9%
involved cats, and 24.1% involved other animals. Finding the answers to these questions will help
people to become more aware of animal cruelty and hopefully change their treatment on animals.
Some humans are very cruel to animals. Why would people be cruel to animals, though? There are
reasons behind reasons. For example, people use animals for testing certain products, like makeup.
(Get a quote to support this and explain it. You are using TREAC )The reason behind why certain
people do it, could be because they don't think animals deserve respect. People use animals in dog
fighting, circuses, slaughter houses, shelters, and street fairs. Some of these examples might seem
like they're cruel, but if you were in the animal's position, would you feel comfortable? An animal
can't even speak, so how would using them in these events be consented to them? An animal would
rather be doing its own thing, not forced to perform difficult obstacles that humans are capable of
doing. (Health Guidance)
Reasons behind why people abuse animals also vary. There may be unintentional or intentional
reasons. (Add a quote as your evidence and then explain the quote)For example, hoarding is
unintentional abuse. Some people have many pets and don't give enough attention to them all. Not
giving enough attention to an animal is misuse, believe it or not. An intentional reason for abusing
an animal is punishing them. For example, if a dog pees somewhere other than on its pee pad, the
owner might hit the dog. The owner might think that it's appropriate to hit them because it might
teach them not to do it again, but it doesn't help. A pet will get revenge, because it's smarter than you
think.
Animals are used for entertainment, "Animals aren't actors, spectacles to imprison and gawk at, or
circus clowns. Yet thousands of these animals are forced to

Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and
witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one
gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the
Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My
first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was adog who
despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the signs
of basic signs of defense or threats.I didn't walk her because she was on the category of 'red'. Red
meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to walk said
red dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who's name was Cody,
he was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to the fact he was
roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet determined that the leg
had to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more and was just getting in
his way of a better quality of life. The day after Cody's surgery Cody walked up the two flights of
steps to get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured leg amputated he was acting like
the puppy he should be acting. Sadly, Cody passed was recently due to an unknown reason. He
died in his sleep on his bed in his new home

An animal is abused every ten seconds. Animal abuse can come from religious heritage like
bullfighting to just doing it for fun. I believe we need to stop animal abuse. We can start by ending
organized cruelty, stopping puppy mills, and we need to add more laws against it.
Organized cruelty is basically animal abuse which ends with killing animals. My first example is
cockfighting. Cockfighting is when two roosters with blades strapped to their claws, fight to the
death, while people not only watch, but place bets on which animal will win. Cockfighting is the
"oldest spectator sport" dating back thousands of years, and although it is currently outlawed in all
states, it continues to be a form of entertainment for many (Adam B. Ellick). In fact, according to an
article in the New York Times, cockfighting was once...show more content...
Since there are so many, I am only going to give the most punishing laws in North and South
America. In Argentina, the sentence is 15 days to one year in prison. I think that is not enough
time in jail, and should have more time in jail. In Chile, the worst sentence you can get is a fine
of two to 30 units, and 541 days to three years in prison. That is a lot of time in jail, but it could
have more. There are no laws against animal abuse in Columbia, and cockfighting and
bullfighting are considered religious heritages (Wikipedia.com). Columbia is terrible, and should
do something about animal abuse. In Mexico, the worst punishment is two to four years in
prison, and 200 to 400 days at minimum wage. In the United States, the worst case of animal
abuse had a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. This was apart of the "three strikes law" which
means that if you do two other violent crimes, and you got caught doing another crime, you would
get an sentence of life in prison (Wikipedia.com). This means that you could get life in prison for
just stealing a penny. In Venezuela, animal abuse is

Many people have pets; a large majority of them are of course cats and dogs. A pet is defined as "a
domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure."(Dictionary). I believe that a pet is
the most loyal friend you can ever have. Having such innocent animals depend on you whether it's a
cat, dog, fish, bunny and etc. is such a wonderful feeling to endure. Some people however, have this
disgusting urge in them as to hurt such innocent animals. I have watched many commercials related
to such crimes, but there was one that mainly stuck out with me with Sarah McLachlan. The video
asks people to stop cat and dog abuse by making us views feel sympathy, through a mellow tone,
vivid images, and effectively using arrangement and statistics. I could never push myself to hurt such
selfless animals. They don't ever deserve that. What could an animal do to deserve these cruel acts?
When is it considered "okay" to hurt an animal? I chose (ASPCA) The American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals because today in North America they are one of the largest
organizations and were one the first humane society to be established. Their organization was
founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of
humans and must be protected under the law. I can tell that this organization has a genuine goal to
help these animal the President and CEO of ASPCA also gives some insight on why he is a part of

Heartless is too kind a word to describe the cruel owner who abandoned a litter of puppies at a
Corsicana, Texas car wash.
When the staff arrived on this freezing cold early December morning, hearts that were warmed by
the approaching holiday season turned icy as they saw a soaking wet cardboard box moving.
When they opened the box, they were shocked to find five adorable abandoned puppies, huddling
together for warmth.
The box, soaked from the urine of the puppies, also had a layer of pee soaked puppy kibble
covering the bottom of the box. The cruel, uncaring person who abandoned the puppies somehow
thought throwing a handful of food into the box would keep the puppies alive long enough for
people to discover them.
When East Dallas Pet Rescue was called for help, organization founder, Jaclyn Smith sent a volunteer
out to retrieve the puppies. Three of the five puppies were immediately sent to the local veterinarian
for checkups....show more content...

About 1 million animals per year are abused because of domestic violence that occurs in the home
where they live. "Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of
an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim can
suffer terribly. Don't despair, though–anyone can take steps against cruelty." People should stop
animal cruelty because hurting the animals can make the animals population go down and it can also
make the animals stressed and upset.
One reason animal cruelty should stop is because it can cause the animal's population to decrease.

Someone had hung a dog from a tree behind a store. The teen climbed up and freed the dog from

the tree. But the dog only had a minimal injury.
Conversely, this quote shows that zoos are good for the animals and the people because the people

All animals have the right to a natural life span without suffering neglect or cruelty (Sunni Bloyd
13). Dalai Lama once quoted, "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help
them, at least don't hurt them." Some people believe that animals are the lower form of living things
that should be under the rule of human (Missimer healthguidance.org; par 4). Animal cruelty not only
affects the animal, but the person who is watching. Cruelty to animals eventually leads to domestic
violence, animal, experimentation, dog fighting and jail time. Animal abuse has tremendous effect
on children that are 7–12 years of age. According to the Humane Society, "Children that witness
someone harming an animal will think it is normal." "Abused children often "act out" their own
experiences on pets or release their fear and frustration by harming animals" (The Humane
Society of the United States; Par. 5). Children are also known to have learning disabilities and
depression from experiencing the act of animal cruelty. This could potentially be a problem later on
in life. The result in children seeing animal cruelty could further escalate into problems, such as
violence on others. Instead of children believing it is okay to harm animals, they then believe it is
okay to harm humans. This is something that can be avoided by enforcing strict laws on animal
abuse. A professor named Andrew Linzey wrote a book called "The link between animal abuse and

The act of animal abuse across the US is increasing dramatically without great punishment. Animal
abuse is defined as "acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals" (Petfinder). The act of
animal abuse is currently punished with a "Three Strikes Law" which gives a felony charge and
twenty–five year to a full life sentence if convicted of animal abuse three times. This law should
be extended to first time abusers. The penalty should not only be extended for those accused of
animal cruelty, but the government should work harder to encourage people to foster animals to
keep them off of the streets and out of the shelters. People should increase their actions to protect
the safety of domesticated animals. Several animals are waiting in animal shelters to be adopted,
but "for every puppy or kitten who is produced by any breeder, an animal awaiting adoption at an
animal shelter loses his or her chance at finding a home–and will be euthanized" ("Breeders"). This
creates the problem of overcrowding in the shelters and forces the shelter to euthanize animals

Carding, brings to light one of the solutions to stop animal cruelty that has been ignored lately.
Most U.S. communities require a licensure for all dogs starting at 4 to 6 months of age, but in my
opinion it might be even more beneficial to require licensure as soon as a pup's eye are open, or
when a dog first changes owners, establishing ownership at the earliest practical time. Also, an
anti–abandonment program can be beneficial, if we focus on finding the owner rather than
impounding the free–roaming pet. Such an approach would reduce the need for more animal
shelters, and also will be a solution to the extensive expenses for impoundment and euthanasia. In
this article the authors state that: "The right to keep a pet also put a responsibility to the owner to
prevent his animal from harming or annoying people and degrading the environment. Clearly, many
pet owners do not accept their responsibility." Also he points out that "Veterinarians and other health
authorities who bear official responsibility for animal control rarely give adequate attention to
free–roaming animals." That being said, I strongly agree that free–roaming animals should be taken
away from their owners, who clearly do not have any intention to take care of them. According to
the above article, free–roaming animals increase the animal violence, not only human to animal, but

Now you're a strayed four–legged pet that has found an easy escape route from a pet abuser who
abused and neglected you, communicating in a strange language that other #Pets understand as
people either walk on by or stop and stare to only wish you could talk in human language.
Returning back to reality after walking in the paws of a pet, with this in mind think of how
animals live on all fours and walk by us each day showing love in their eye to bring a sense of
companionship to a pet lover that can make one feel less alone as they provide comfort to us during
times of suffering and pain. However, in spite of the needs that are being exchanged between most
pet lover's and their furry–legged friends, there's this silent cry of injustice going on in many

literally bled dry to parasite infestations, or slowly garroted by their own collars." Adds Shelby.

Imagine being abused everyday of your life with no say whatsoever in what happens to you and it
seems as if no one can hear you scream. This is what many animals go through every day as the
numbers of animal cruelty cases rise every day and it seems like everyone is just turning their
heads to the problem. The only way to fix this problem is to take action and give animals the
voice they have needed. Animals have been taken advantage of since the dawn of man when man
developed tools to kill the animals that led to the extinction of some species. Animals for centuries
have been victims of a horrible case of cruelty with the criminals being humans. Millions of animals
are used in experiments each year to test for possible side effects that could happen in humans while
using the product. This causes some issues because humans and animals are not exactly the same so
they can react differently to some products which leads to the pointless deaths of thousands of
animals each year. Animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings 94 percent of drugs

Why would anyone abuse an animal? Animal abuse is rather common, you could be doing it even
if you don't think you are. There are many animals that deal with abuse or neglect, about 1,423
animals a year. That's in the U.S. alone. Animals are living creatures, just like you, and they're not
cheap. Neglect is another version of abuse, and it can come in many forms. Neglect could be starving
them, not giving them medical care, not paying attention to them, etc, etc. Animals are just like
humans, I mean, sure they can't make their own meals, and they can't drive a car, but that doesn't
mean they have fewer rights than you do. If an animal is abused or neglected the animal will be

This is the simplest thing to understand. You must take care of your pets, money is only an object.
Your pet is family, your pet will be with you through everything if you treat them correctly. Again,
pets aren't cheap. Food for a dog or cat can cost $5.00 – $30.00 alone. A pet is like a child. They
depend on you to keep them alive and healthy.
There are many animals who deal with abuse everyday, and that is not okay. If an animal is
neglected or abused the pet will be taken away and the caretaker will be charged $1,500. Animals
are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused,
they don't know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. Animals,
such as humans, shouldn't be abused or neglected. Most animals who are abused or neglected are
usually abused unintentionally, but the second most are abused on purpose. The people who
abuse animals on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have
a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like humans who have been abused.
They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are
the same in my eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I'd be
charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same rights as you to live freely, but
people don't see it. You are able to live on your own and take care of yourself, but they

Persuasive Essay About Animal Abuse

  • 1. Animal Abuse Persuasive Essay II. Campaign Theme or Focus Statement and description of the issue to be addressed A major problem in today's society is that animals are being abused globally. It doesn't matter if the animal is being starved, dehydrated, neglected, beaten, or even straight out slaughtered: it's all some form of animal abuse. Some animals, specifically dogs, are inbred and sold illegally. It's these abusive tendencies that this project is focused on to build awareness toward these issues. All types of animals are victims of abuse including dogs, cats, horses, chickens, cows, deer, goats, rabbits, and many more. The sad fact is that no animal is safe from abuse because there are such people that truly believe that any animal they come across can be used and treated as nothing more than a defective toy for their own disgusting pleasure and enjoyment....show more content... Accessed 11 Sept. 2017. Rationale for selecting the issue This project was specifically chosen because animals are living creatures that don't deserve such harsh treatments. Animals have emotions just like any other human. If you were to see a child being abused, would you want to do something about it? And if you care about a child, what makes an animal any different? Animals also aren't just considered as pets or mere objects to most of society. Any animal with a home is usually considered a part of that family. It's time to bring awareness to animal abuse so that animals without a loving home can hopefully get one. "The FBI Now Considers Animal Abuse A Felony." Sunny Skyz, www.sunnyskyz.com/good –news /1472/The–FBI–Now–Considers–Animal–Abuse–A–Felony. Accessed 11 Sept. 2017. Injured animals can't fight back, starving animals can't fight back, dead animals can't fight back, and neglected animals are too depressed to want to fight back. It's time to fight for the animals that can't. It's time to give those animals a second Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse In the United States, animals are abandoned, beaten, and fighting for their survival every day. Forced to live in unhygienic conditions with no water or food, they don't have very much hope as they live out their days lacking the empathy or consideration that they deserve. Some are discovered and rescued, given the opportunity to experience how magnificent their lives can be; others aren't so fortunate. In order to change as country, we must stick up for these mistreated animal's rights and seriously correct the mistakes of cold–hearted people who abuse them. It is up to us to stand up for these creatures who lack a voice, because who will if we do not? Cows, chickens, pigs, and other animals are living inside of inhumane factory farms where Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Have you ever wondered what Animal Abuse or Animal Cruelty is? Both of these are when someone is not giving their animal anything to eat or drink and they hurt the animal in every possible way. Animal Abuse is a very serious problem and should be stop. If you want to help than here are something you should do, Don't touch the person or animal when you see this happening because they both can put you in harm's way, You should go get an adult like someone you trust and go find help together, If you ever witness animal abuse get someone to call 911. There are many things that can happen from someone abusing animals. Some might become serial killer or pedophile that might be right next door. Many people think that if a child does animal abuse than they will act in a physical manner of violence to others. This one sociologist Suzanne Goodney Lea agrees that "if a child is involved in animal abuse they are more likely to commit physical crimes when they become adults than a child who did not participate in doing animal abuse when they were young." This is talking about if the child abused animals when they were young then they will abuse their girlfriends or wife when they get older. A woman named Janie who is a pharmacist did some studies "that have shown rapist and pedophiles engaged in animal abuse when they are young." There are many facts that prove to us that when some people partake in sexual violence you would see that they have also been involved in animal Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Imagine being thrown in cage, beaten, starved or forced to do something for no reason... other than someone else's entertainment. We have all seen those ASPCA commercials showing depressing pictures of beaten and starved animals asking for help, yet animal cruelty/abuse is still a major problem. Even though on average, 1,920 animal cruelty cases are reported in the media each year, thousands of cases are unreported or unnoticed by the public (Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). Regardless of animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time and thousands of dollars in fines, it is still something which occurs on a daily basis across the United States and it needs to be addressed in affective ways. To understand the issue, we must define key terms related to animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is defined " legally... as any act of violence or neglect that inflicts suffering or death on an animal" and it consists of two parts: passive and active (Animal Cruelty). Passive cruelty is when animals are neglected by their owners, usually unknowingly or unwillingly. For example, when a person hoards dozens of animals at a time and doesn't have the means to care for every single one of them, the animals are withheld the necessary care like food, water, shelter, veterinary care, etc. Active cruelty, on the other hand, is when an animal is abused with the intention of inflicting injury or death. This is seen in bloodsport, like dogfighting, in torture, beating, mutilation, poisoning, or shooting or when the animal is kept in a confined cage (Animal Cruelty). Active cruelty is also seen in puppy mills or in situations that turn a profit, like trafficking or animal breeding. The USDA provides many guidelines regarding the care standards of the animals in the breeding mills, however most of them have up to a thousand breeding animals so their care comes second to the profit they make off of the offsprings. As early as five BC, Greek scientists have cut open live animals to study their inner workings and used them to test whether or not drugs were safe to administer to humans. In 1876, England passed the Cruelty to Animals Act, which gave researchers certain guidelines to abide to in order to get a license to test on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animal Abuse Animal cruelty is a serious issue in the U.S. and it needs to be stopped. Why would anyone be cruel to animals? Why are animals used for entertainment? Should people I try to stop someone from abusing an animal if they I see it? How can people I find out if a company tests its products on animals? Data has stated that in America, 70.1% animal cruelty cases involved dogs, 20.9% involved cats, and 24.1% involved other animals. Finding the answers to these questions will help people to become more aware of animal cruelty and hopefully change their treatment on animals. Some humans are very cruel to animals. Why would people be cruel to animals, though? There are reasons behind reasons. For example, people use animals for testing certain products, like makeup. (Get a quote to support this and explain it. You are using TREAC )The reason behind why certain people do it, could be because they don't think animals deserve respect. People use animals in dog fighting, circuses, slaughter houses, shelters, and street fairs. Some of these examples might seem like they're cruel, but if you were in the animal's position, would you feel comfortable? An animal can't even speak, so how would using them in these events be consented to them? An animal would rather be doing its own thing, not forced to perform difficult obstacles that humans are capable of doing. (Health Guidance) Reasons behind why people abuse animals also vary. There may be unintentional or intentional reasons. (Add a quote as your evidence and then explain the quote)For example, hoarding is unintentional abuse. Some people have many pets and don't give enough attention to them all. Not giving enough attention to an animal is misuse, believe it or not. An intentional reason for abusing an animal is punishing them. For example, if a dog pees somewhere other than on its pee pad, the owner might hit the dog. The owner might think that it's appropriate to hit them because it might teach them not to do it again, but it doesn't help. A pet will get revenge, because it's smarter than you think. Animals are used for entertainment, "Animals aren't actors, spectacles to imprison and gawk at, or circus clowns. Yet thousands of these animals are forced to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animals Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was adog who despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the signs of basic signs of defense or threats.I didn't walk her because she was on the category of 'red'. Red meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to walk said red dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who's name was Cody, he was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to the fact he was roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet determined that the leg had to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more and was just getting in his way of a better quality of life. The day after Cody's surgery Cody walked up the two flights of steps to get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured leg amputated he was acting like the puppy he should be acting. Sadly, Cody passed was recently due to an unknown reason. He died in his sleep on his bed in his new home Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse An animal is abused every ten seconds. Animal abuse can come from religious heritage like bullfighting to just doing it for fun. I believe we need to stop animal abuse. We can start by ending organized cruelty, stopping puppy mills, and we need to add more laws against it. Organized cruelty is basically animal abuse which ends with killing animals. My first example is cockfighting. Cockfighting is when two roosters with blades strapped to their claws, fight to the death, while people not only watch, but place bets on which animal will win. Cockfighting is the "oldest spectator sport" dating back thousands of years, and although it is currently outlawed in all states, it continues to be a form of entertainment for many (Adam B. Ellick). In fact, according to an article in the New York Times, cockfighting was once...show more content... Since there are so many, I am only going to give the most punishing laws in North and South America. In Argentina, the sentence is 15 days to one year in prison. I think that is not enough time in jail, and should have more time in jail. In Chile, the worst sentence you can get is a fine of two to 30 units, and 541 days to three years in prison. That is a lot of time in jail, but it could have more. There are no laws against animal abuse in Columbia, and cockfighting and bullfighting are considered religious heritages (Wikipedia.com). Columbia is terrible, and should do something about animal abuse. In Mexico, the worst punishment is two to four years in prison, and 200 to 400 days at minimum wage. In the United States, the worst case of animal abuse had a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. This was apart of the "three strikes law" which means that if you do two other violent crimes, and you got caught doing another crime, you would get an sentence of life in prison (Wikipedia.com). This means that you could get life in prison for just stealing a penny. In Venezuela, animal abuse is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Many people have pets; a large majority of them are of course cats and dogs. A pet is defined as "a domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure."(Dictionary). I believe that a pet is the most loyal friend you can ever have. Having such innocent animals depend on you whether it's a cat, dog, fish, bunny and etc. is such a wonderful feeling to endure. Some people however, have this disgusting urge in them as to hurt such innocent animals. I have watched many commercials related to such crimes, but there was one that mainly stuck out with me with Sarah McLachlan. The video asks people to stop cat and dog abuse by making us views feel sympathy, through a mellow tone, vivid images, and effectively using arrangement and statistics. I could never push myself to hurt such selfless animals. They don't ever deserve that. What could an animal do to deserve these cruel acts? When is it considered "okay" to hurt an animal? I chose (ASPCA) The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals because today in North America they are one of the largest organizations and were one the first humane society to be established. Their organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. I can tell that this organization has a genuine goal to help these animal the President and CEO of ASPCA also gives some insight on why he is a part of such an organization "Helping Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animal Abuse I'm sure you've seen all of those ad T.V. commercials with all the cute, sad animals? The ones that usually make you tear up and act emotional? Well those ads are very important because animal abuse/animal cruelty is still going on. Even as you've read the past couple sentences, about 39 animals have died. Animal cruelty is a huge problem NOT just in the US but also in the whole world from circuses to science labs, horse racing, and even movies. Most of us have pets we consider family and would never harm. Although there are many Americans that abuse their pets many of us find this very heartbreaking, but we may become hypocrites when we don't pay attention to animal violence against a animal that is not ours or even...show more content... • 10. Persuasive Animal Abuse Heartless is too kind a word to describe the cruel owner who abandoned a litter of puppies at a Corsicana, Texas car wash. When the staff arrived on this freezing cold early December morning, hearts that were warmed by the approaching holiday season turned icy as they saw a soaking wet cardboard box moving. When they opened the box, they were shocked to find five adorable abandoned puppies, huddling together for warmth. The box, soaked from the urine of the puppies, also had a layer of pee soaked puppy kibble covering the bottom of the box. The cruel, uncaring person who abandoned the puppies somehow thought throwing a handful of food into the box would keep the puppies alive long enough for people to discover them. When East Dallas Pet Rescue was called for help, organization founder, Jaclyn Smith sent a volunteer out to retrieve the puppies. Three of the five puppies were immediately sent to the local veterinarian for checkups....show more content... If interested in fostering the two remaining pups, please contact Jaclyn Smith of the East Dallas Pet Rescue, by visiting their Facebook page. Forget the fact that It is a crime of animal cruelty to abandon pets because the person who can do such a thing has no morals so I highly doubt they would care about breaking the law. But for these moronic, heartless people there are shelters, rescue organizations and a million websites like ours that can give needed information for unwanted puppies. It is not only frightening to think what could have happened to these little darlings, but it is more scary to think that there are still so many idiotic persons still living among Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse About 1 million animals per year are abused because of domestic violence that occurs in the home where they live. "Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Don't despair, though–anyone can take steps against cruelty." People should stop animal cruelty because hurting the animals can make the animals population go down and it can also make the animals stressed and upset. One reason animal cruelty should stop is because it can cause the animal's population to decrease. People at the Fuzhou Zoo were throwing bricks at two kangaroos to make them jump."They had been minding their own business......show more content... "This month at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, more than 3,000 dogs will be paraded around New York's Madison Square Garden so that judges can scrutinize every inch of their bodies––from their inbred, squashed–in noses and surgically sculpted ears to their coiffured coats and stubby, amputated tails." They are being cruelty to the animals by doing things to their body. Someone had hung a dog from a tree behind a store. The teen climbed up and freed the dog from material wrapped around its neck. Pima Animal Care Center says the dog suffered minimal injury from the hanging. "Officials say a teen rescued a dog that she found hanging from a tree behind a home–improvement store in Tucson." The dog could of have had died while it was hanging from the tree. But the dog only had a minimal injury. Conversely, this quote shows that zoos are good for the animals and the people because the people get to learn about the animals. "Jack Hanna, a part–time Jupiter resident and one of the world's best–known animal experts, has a message... Zoos, are necessary and indispensable....The primary responsibility of zoos, is educating the people who visit annually. 35 percent said the zoo reinforced their existing beliefs about conservation. It's that kind of personal connection that makes people want to protect animals and conserve their environments." • 12. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse All animals have the right to a natural life span without suffering neglect or cruelty (Sunni Bloyd 13). Dalai Lama once quoted, "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Some people believe that animals are the lower form of living things that should be under the rule of human (Missimer healthguidance.org; par 4). Animal cruelty not only affects the animal, but the person who is watching. Cruelty to animals eventually leads to domestic violence, animal, experimentation, dog fighting and jail time. Animal abuse has tremendous effect on children that are 7–12 years of age. According to the Humane Society, "Children that witness someone harming an animal will think it is normal." "Abused children often "act out" their own experiences on pets or release their fear and frustration by harming animals" (The Humane Society of the United States; Par. 5). Children are also known to have learning disabilities and depression from experiencing the act of animal cruelty. This could potentially be a problem later on in life. The result in children seeing animal cruelty could further escalate into problems, such as violence on others. Instead of children believing it is okay to harm animals, they then believe it is okay to harm humans. This is something that can be avoided by enforcing strict laws on animal abuse. A professor named Andrew Linzey wrote a book called "The link between animal abuse and human violence." In this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse The act of animal abuse across the US is increasing dramatically without great punishment. Animal abuse is defined as "acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals" (Petfinder). The act of animal abuse is currently punished with a "Three Strikes Law" which gives a felony charge and twenty–five year to a full life sentence if convicted of animal abuse three times. This law should be extended to first time abusers. The penalty should not only be extended for those accused of animal cruelty, but the government should work harder to encourage people to foster animals to keep them off of the streets and out of the shelters. People should increase their actions to protect the safety of domesticated animals. Several animals are waiting in animal shelters to be adopted, but "for every puppy or kitten who is produced by any breeder, an animal awaiting adoption at an animal shelter loses his or her chance at finding a home–and will be euthanized" ("Breeders"). This creates the problem of overcrowding in the shelters and forces the shelter to euthanize animals earlier than they would have to if the shelter had plenty of space to keep the...show more content... Carding, brings to light one of the solutions to stop animal cruelty that has been ignored lately. Most U.S. communities require a licensure for all dogs starting at 4 to 6 months of age, but in my opinion it might be even more beneficial to require licensure as soon as a pup's eye are open, or when a dog first changes owners, establishing ownership at the earliest practical time. Also, an anti–abandonment program can be beneficial, if we focus on finding the owner rather than impounding the free–roaming pet. Such an approach would reduce the need for more animal shelters, and also will be a solution to the extensive expenses for impoundment and euthanasia. In this article the authors state that: "The right to keep a pet also put a responsibility to the owner to prevent his animal from harming or annoying people and degrading the environment. Clearly, many pet owners do not accept their responsibility." Also he points out that "Veterinarians and other health authorities who bear official responsibility for animal control rarely give adequate attention to free–roaming animals." That being said, I strongly agree that free–roaming animals should be taken away from their owners, who clearly do not have any intention to take care of them. According to the above article, free–roaming animals increase the animal violence, not only human to animal, but even Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Animals for centuries have been victims of a horrible case of cruelty with the criminals being humans. Millions of animals are used in experiments each year to test for possible side effects that could happen in humans while using the product. This causes some issues because humans and animals are not exactly the same so they can react differently to some products which leads to the pointless deaths of thousands of animals each year. Animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings 94 percent of drugs that pass animal tests fail in human clinical trials. Animals are just like humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I'd be charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same rights as you to live freely, but people don't see it.
