*When creating my music magazine I tried to use most of the usual
conventions that would be found in a normal magazine, however I
did try to do some things a bit differently so that my magazine
could stand out a little bit from others and that it would be more
eye-catching to my target audience. On my front cover I used the
typical conventions which include a mast head, cover lines, a
strap line, barcode etc.
*However I tried to do some parts of my front cover a little
different, for my main picture I didn’t have my model looking
straight at the camera but instead had to look to the side, I feel
like this made her look more dramatic and worked better with the
genre of my magazine; indie. I also tried to vary the fonts that I
used so that it would make my front cover look more interesting
and captivating to the readers.
3. *As well as my front cover I also tried to use the main
conventions used for real media products on my contents
page as well, at the top of my contents page I put a main
image of my model relating to the feature article on my
double page spread, as well as the main image I also
added 3 other small images of other articles that could be
found in the magazine. For my contents page and my
front cover I have tried to use a similar colour scheme
that consists of red, grey and black. I have also added
page numbers for each of the pictures and done a column
of page numbers and their corresponding articles.
4. *For my double page spread I have also tried to use
the conventions use for real media products, this
includes adding the things that I want to be more
visible to the upper outside corners of the page,
such as pictures and pull quotes. As well as this I
have tried to make sure that everything flows nicely
and make sure that it fits in with the colour scheme
and genre of the rest of my magazine. I have also
tried to include subheads to break up the body copy
and to give the reader an insight into what they can
expect to read in the next few paragraphs. I have
also included a headline because this is just as
important as the layout as it tells the reader what
they will be reading on the page.
5. *My magazine is an indie rock music magazine, in most
indie rock magazines the artists range from all different
ages as it is a genre of music that is open to all different
ages, as well as it being open to people of all ages it is
also open to all genders, it is a very specific taste of
music however the social group that forms around it is a
wide variety of all ages and genders. My music magazine
represents a younger social group of women as that is
who I have used as my models, younger women may see
this magazine as something that they can relate to and
see that they can be successful.
