It may be common to think of each religion as something completely separate from every other religion,
however, this is far from true. In a similar way that Buddhism evolved from the previously established
Hinduism, there are three "Abrahamic Religions" that are said to stem from the patriarch Abraham: Judaism,
Christianity and Islam.
The three (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are also regarded as "religions of the book" since they all consider
the Old Testament of the Bible to be holy writ. Judaism only recognize the Old Testament. Christianity
recognizes the Old Testament and the New Testament. Islam recognizes the Old and New Testaments along
with the Koran (also spelled "Quran" or "Qur'an") to be holy documents that add to and correct the previous
with each new archive, though each in itself is holy.
The idea of Christianity and the beliefs behind it are constantly changing and varying since there are thousands
of denominations of Christianity which can believe in and practice completely different things. This being
considered, focusing on mainly Judaism and Islam will be a more achievable task in this paper.

Introduction
As a kid, I grew up down the street from a guy we called Max. Max was pretty normal; he had a wife, a few
kids, and occasionally sang "Proud to be an American" at Boy Scout functions. Max was also in commercials.
He was the guy in the "Don't Waste Utah" campaign. Max drove a cool car, had a cool dog, and he hated
littering. Garbage is for a garbage can; putting it anywhere else is bad for the planet. Don't. Waste. Utah.
Seeing as how I believe in proper environmental stewardship, I read Gone Tomorrow for this month's book
club. It is a thought provoking book about a subject that many people choose not to lose sleep over: garbage.
We all make it, and we all throw it out.
Garbage is something that gives meaning to the phrase "out of sight, out of mind." As soon as the garbage man
comes at his regularly scheduled time, our trash is whisked away to be properly disposed of. As long as we put
garbage in the trash can and not on the side of the street, we're doing the right thing (and consequently not

Not only does killing and torturing animals for the consumption of their meat and products harm the animal but

Clinicians were asked to report all suspected cases of trichinosis that had been diagnosed in the Auvergne

Case Definition
Confirmed case – defined as a person living in Auvergne with either muscle biopsy positive for trichinella or in
whom serial immunofluorescence (IF) assays demonstrated seroconversion.
Probable case – defined as a patient in Auvergne between February 15 and March 15 1991, with recent clinical
features of trichinosis (fever, facial edema or myalgia) or eosinophilia (>1 x 109 eosinophils per litre)
associated with a positive indirect IF assay for trichinella antibodies.

The problem at hand is that majority humans believe we are superior to non–human animals on the basis of our
brain capacity, ability, and preferences of life. The two principles of consequentialism I plan to work with is the

Another argument is that it is believed to natural and ancestral for humans to eat non–human animals.
Neverless, in cavemen days their life span was much shorter, they did not kill nearly as many animals that are
killed today in factory farming, they ate for survival, and their diets consisted of fruits and vegetables; not
McDonalds and steroid induced animals. Humans are the only species in the animal kingdom who have to cook
and season their meat before eating it. We do not salivate naturally at the sight of raw meat like real carnivores
