Vegetables – It's What's for Dinner
James Garner, a washed–up hollywood celebrity, was paid by the meat board to tout beef as, "Real food for real
people." In April of 1988, James Garner underwent a quintuple coronary artery bypass surgery (Realities 1989).
This is just one of the shocking side effects of consumption of meat. "The practice of vegetarianism involves
eating vegetable products and not consuming meat, fish, and in many instances, egg and dairy products."
("Vegetarianism"). Thus, a vegetarian diet can benefit individuals as well as the world. Vegetarianism is a very
healthy, environmentally aware, animal friendly lifestyle.
There are three major types of vegetarians. Lacto–ovo–vegetarians do not eat meat, but will ... Show more

Even so, Sufi Mystics (who are among the chief guides of Muslim spiritual life) recommend a vegetarian diet

Doctor T. Colin Campbell, a Cornell University nutritional biochemist says, "we're basically a vegetarian

further stated, "in the next ten years, one of the things you're bound to hear is that animal protein...is one of the
most toxic nutrients of all that can be considered" (Vegan Action). Such are the realities of meat consumption.

A Report on New York City Subway
Report on New York City Subway Abstract: The report investigates the issues pertinent to the New York City's
subway. The report focuses on such problems laying emphasis on rat problems and air pollution issues. The
report provides background knowledge to help readers better understand the problems under consideration. A
set of recommendations are given at the end of every section; recommendations that can be incorporated by the
concerned authorities in order to curtail the aforementioned problems. The report is constructed in a manner
that it uses all the germane articles and statistics from recent scholarly literature to define the problems and
then propose recommendations to the aforementioned problems. All the major problems have been outlined
under distinct headings. After presenting the entire case on problems pertinent to New York's subway and
metro systems, the report suggests (i) air–conditioning, (ii) electric breaks, (iii) rubber tires, (iv) awareness
campaigns, (v) community policing (vi) ventilation (vii) proper disposal of trash as recommendations. Table of

The Yellow Wall Essay
The Yellow Wall– was published in 1892 by Charlotte Perkins Stetson. The story was written as a semi–
autobiographical short story about an unnamed narrator that describes the treatment of women during this time
frame. It takes place in a county rental home where her husband has taken her for some treatment from an
"illness" that she supposedly has. Through ethos, pathos, and logos I will review the story and show the reader
that in fact the unnamed narrator was not mentally ill when she arrived at the county home but did in fact
become mentally ill through the treatment that was delivered. The story starts with our no name narrator and
her husband coming to a county home that he has rented for three months to provide her with relaxation ...

It appears that her thought process is intake and she well articulates herself. "It is seldom that mere ordinary
people like John and myself secure ancestral halls for the summer" (Steton 647). As the story progresses the
narrators sentence structure becomes erratic and short wither thoughts running rapidly as evidenced not only in
what she says, by how she says it, "I quite enjoy the room, now it is bare again. How those children did tear
about here! This bedstead is fairly gnawed! But I must get to work" (Stetson 655).By using the sentence s and
sentence structure the reader can validate that the narrators mental wellbeing is deteriorating. We are told that
her husband was a physician and was charged with her care. The simple title of physician automatically
conveys a sense of trust and knowledge that others do not have. A higher authority if you will, " If a physician
of high standing, and one's own husband, assures friends and relatives there is really nothing wrong to matter
with one but temporary nervous depression– a slight hysterical tendency–what is one to do? (Stetson 648) "
Can you not trust me as a physician when I tell you so?"(Stetson, 652). "He is very careful and loving, and
hardly lets me stir without special direction...I have a schedule prescription for each hour of the day."(Stetson,

Pathogens
The term disease can be defined as a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially
one that produces specific symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of
physical injury. With this being said, it can be seen that there are numbers of diseases. A pathogen is a biological
agent, or germ, that causes disease to its host by interrupting normal body processes. Bacteria, viruses, fungi
and parasites are all common types of pathogens that can cause pathogenic, or infectious, diseases. These
pathogens can be found in the air, soil and water, and infection can occur as a result of touching, eating or
drinking something that is infected with a germ.A vector is an organism that does ... Show more content on

Hereditary diseases are disorders or diseases that are inherited genetically. They are also known as genetic
disorders or inherited diseases and may be passed on within the family if there is a mutant gene present. For
example, Down syndrome. This disease is also known as Trisomy 21 and it is caused by inheritance of an extra
chromosome 21. This condition causes delay in mental and physical development of a child. This genetic
disorder is rare and may be detected before a child is born. Another example is Hereditary Fructose Intolerance.
This hereditary disease causes absence of enzyme aldolase B in a person, which is required for metabolizing
fructose. Symptoms of hereditary fructose intolerance include severe abdominal pain, vomiting and aversion to
sweet foods. Along with Hereditary hemochromatosis which is a genetic disease that causes the body to absorb
too much iron. Absorbed iron doesn't leave the body but instead it is stored in the body organs, which can cause

Pig Lovers and Pig Haters
ANP 320 9–26–2013 Pig Lovers and Pig Haters This article relates to what we have learned about materialism.
Harris goes in depth explaining the differences between pig haters and pig lovers, and what that meant for their
societies. Harris wants to know "how to account for an apparently bizarre and wasteful taboo" (45). He
explains the history of pig hatred for the Jews and Moslems, stating that the Bible condemned them from eating
pig because they were dirty. Every reason given for why pigs are hated was irrational in the sense that the same
thing could ultimately be said about most other animals. Harris' reasoning brings the history of the people and
the land into account. They were nomadic pastoralists and the climate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ethnography has became the essential field research strategy in humanities. Ethnography has turned into a

decades its utilization has spread broadly in the social sciences and the humanities. The discriminating
assessment of ethnographic information is not yet overall created. Fitting utilization of this kind of material

Trichinosis is an infection caused by the roundworm. Many symptoms include the following: diarrhea,
abdominal cramps, fever and muscle pain. Roundworm parasites use an host's to reproduce and live. The
reason why people acquire this infection by eating raw or undercooked, contaminated meat, pork and bear. The
roundworm appeared in the middle of the Miocene period, which was around 70 million years ago. It is an
disorder from the small roundworm and can be found in the stomach and small intestine. The larvae live in the

First the host must be infected with the larvae or the parasite. To be infected , the host must eat the larvae and it
will end up in the intestines, hatch and start to affect the host. To be infected by the roundworm, the host must
step in contaminated soil with their barefoot. This type of infection does not spread onto other individuals.
Having the infection has nothing to do with genetics or inheriting diseases from parents. When infected, the
treatments must start as soon as possible. When going to go treatment, a doctor must and will make the
decision to treat the infection based on the symptoms. Safe and effective prescription drugs can treat the
infection and the symptoms. When it comes to the reproduction of the roundworm, the female is bigger than
the male. When they mate, females will lay up to 200,000 eggs per day . The affected host will only hold 5,000.
The eggs can be found in human feces and or contaminated water. The remaining eggs will be hatched in the
intestine. When the host gets infected by the skin, the worm will find an blood vessel and makes it way to the
respiratory system. It will then makes it way to throat were the host will swallow them and go through the

In 1769, father and son traveled to Italy and toured for more than a year in Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples, and
Bologna. While in Italy, Mozart completed another opera, Mitridate, re di Ponto, received a papal audience,
passed admission tests to the Accademia Filarmonica, and performed many concerts. Mozart then returned to
Salzburg, but traveled to Italy for two shorter journeys in October 1771 and October 1772 through March 1773.
During this time he completed two more operas, Ascanio in Alba (1771) and Lucio Silla (1772), eight
symphonies, four divertimentos, and several other works.
Archbishop von Schrattenbach, who was a great supporter of Mozart, died in 1771 and was succeeded by
Hieronymus von Colloredo. Although Archbishop Colloredo was a less generous employer, Mozart continued
in his Salzburg post and worked diligently from 1775 to 1777. However, in an effort to secure a better position,
Mozart obtained leave from Salzburg, and set out with his mother in 1777. They traveled through Munich,
Augsburg, and Mannheim, but Mozart was not offered a post. The next year they continued on to Paris, where
Mozart composed the Paris Symphony. In Paris, Mozart's mother fell ill and soon after the symphony's
premiere, she died.
Several months later, Mozart returned to Salzburg and was given the post of court organist as well as
Konzertmeister. He produced numerous works during this

Judaism And Islam : Abrahamic Religions Essay

PHIL 301–001
Philosophy of Religion
Judaism & Islam
Abrahamic Religions/Religions of the Book
It may be common to think of each religion as something completely separate from every other religion,
however, this is far from true. In a similar way that Buddhism evolved from the previously established
Hinduism, there are three "Abrahamic Religions" that are said to stem from the patriarch Abraham: Judaism,
Christianity and Islam.
The three (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are also regarded as "religions of the book" since they all consider
the Old Testament of the Bible to be holy writ. Judaism only recognize the Old Testament. Christianity
recognizes the Old Testament and the New Testament. Islam recognizes the Old and New Testaments along
with the Koran (also spelled "Quran" or "Qur'an") to be holy documents that add to and correct the previous
with each new archive, though each in itself is holy.
The idea of Christianity and the beliefs behind it are constantly changing and varying since there are thousands
of denominations of Christianity which can believe in and practice completely different things. This being
considered, focusing on mainly Judaism and Islam will be a more achievable task in this paper.
The Western world is more ignorant about Islam and misunderstands it more than any of the three Abrahamic
religions. This is strongly due to misinformation along with radical practices showing up on the news, in
movies and in books. Since Islam has some

What Are Roundworms?
The phylum Nematodes Greek word meaning (Thread) also known as roundworms are one of the most
common phyla of animals. There are over 80,000 different species of roundworms, although there are only
about 60 types of species that can live in a human. Roundworms can be found in water, and on land.
Roundworms have a complete digestive system with two separate openings one for food and one for getting rid
of waste. This type of digestive system is very common in complex animal. Nematodes use external and
internal pressure and body movement to move food through their digestive tracts. As the roundworm grows it
molts and forms new cuticles. Most Nematodes are microscopic though a few parasitic forms can grow to be

The Decimating Effects of Infectious Disease in the New World
"It is often said that in the centuries after Columbus landed in the New
World on 12 October, 1492, more native North Americans died each year from infectious diseases brought by
the European settlers than were born." (6) The decimation of people indigenous to the Americas by diseases
introduced by
European invaders is unprecedented. While it is difficult to accurately determine the population of the pre–
Columbian Americas, scholars estimate the number to have been between 40 and 50 million people. The
population in
Mexico alone in 1519 is believed to have been approximately 30 million. By
1568, that number was down to 3 million inhabitants. Although there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, tracing epidemiology in the 15th century is difficult because so little was done to identify and
classify diseases and their symptoms during this time period. One might say that the New World was "ripe" for
the onslaught of hitherto unknown diseases due to several demographic shifts prior to 1492. These are parallel
to shifts that occurred in Europe such as the creation of large urban areas. Since city planning wasn't what it is
today, cities were overcrowded, sewers were nonexistent or inefficient, and disease carrying vermin multiplied.
This created a welcome mat for infectious disease in addition to the general uncleanliness of the population and
the great number of transient people such as soldiers, students, thieves and the mentally ill.
Another factor leading to the assault of disease on medieval Europe was the domestication of large mammals.
These animals were the origins of some of the most cursed afflictions of the time. Smallpox is a derivative of
cowpox, measles of canine distemper, and influenza of hog diseases. "At first, neither young or old were
spared. After generations, susceptible individuals were eliminated and resistant survivors dominated the gene
pool. Diseases went from epidemics to childhood ills." (6) It was in this form that diseases were carried to the
New World by unsuspecting conquistadors, to a population that had experienced its' own shifts to largely urban

Book Report On The Book ' Club ' And ' Don 't Waste Utah '
Introduction
As a kid, I grew up down the street from a guy we called Max. Max was pretty normal; he had a wife, a few
kids, and occasionally sang "Proud to be an American" at Boy Scout functions. Max was also in commercials.
He was the guy in the "Don't Waste Utah" campaign. Max drove a cool car, had a cool dog, and he hated
littering. Garbage is for a garbage can; putting it anywhere else is bad for the planet. Don't. Waste. Utah.
Seeing as how I believe in proper environmental stewardship, I read Gone Tomorrow for this month's book
club. It is a thought provoking book about a subject that many people choose not to lose sleep over: garbage.
We all make it, and we all throw it out.
Garbage is something that gives meaning to the phrase "out of sight, out of mind." As soon as the garbage man
comes at his regularly scheduled time, our trash is whisked away to be properly disposed of. As long as we put
garbage in the trash can and not on the side of the street, we're doing the right thing (and consequently not
wasting Utah). Incidentally, there are those of us who sometimes wonder if there is something inherently wrong
with our quick and "proper" disposal of discards. I, myself, have felt the occasional pang of guilt when I drop
something in the trash can. I recycle; isn't that enough? Gone Tomorrow explores this question, and it sheds a
dirty light on the reality of our disappearing garbage trick.
Sanitation and Disease
In the beginning trash was more

Let us start with a brief overview of "Electromagnetic Radiation";
Radiant energy released by certain electromagnetic processes is Electromagnetic Radiation. It is radiant energy
that is all around us and takes many forms whether it be visible, such as, visible light, or invisible
electromagnetic radiations, such as radio waves, infrared light, sunlight, and x–rays.
Electromagnetic radiation covers a large spectrum of wavelengths, these waves of radiant energy have different
usage according to their energy, in example; the rays from the sun, sunlight is vital to life on earth, radio waves
allow us to communicate, microwaves allow us to cook our foods, infrared radiation provides us with
warmth/heat, visible light illuminate and is also used essentially for growth of our trees, flowers, and the many
foods we grow on earth, ultraviolet rays, which also comes from the sun, provide us with Vitamin D which is
vital for our bones, and x–rays are used for medical diagnostic such as diagnosing a fractured or broken bone or
pathology, it is also used in airports to check our luggage and help us be safe onboard to our paradise
destinations. Gamma rays are used in the medical field to sterilize surgical equipments, it is also used to
sterilize baby nipples, and cosmetic products, just to name a few; And for the past 60 years or so, the
combination of Radiation, Cobalt–60, Cesium–137, and Gamma Rays have been used for "Irradiating" food.

Food Safety Essay
Food is an essential constituent in human life. Nevertheless, some foods can be detrimental to a person's
organism by causing life–threatening diseases. For that reason, food safety comes into play. Food safety is a
scientific discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent illness. This
includes a set of laws that should be followed to stay away from potentially severe health hazards. Food can
transmit disease from individual to individual, and also serves as a growth medium for bacteria that can cause
food poisoning (Roberts, 2001). Debates on genetic food safety include such issues as the impact of genetically

Common illnesses that can occur are salmonella and trichinosis poisoning resulting from improper handling of
chicken, eggs or pork (Jardin, 2009, para.2). Diseases such as: campylobacteriosis, cholera, and listeriosis also
make the list of illnesses (Jardin, 2009, para.1). These diseases are the versions of food poisoning, which can be
life–threatening. According to the World of Health article published in 2007,
"In the United States of America, for example, around 76 million cases of food–borne diseases, resulting in
325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths, are estimated to occur each year."
For that reason, some serious decisions need to be made as soon as possible in order to challenge that
estimation.
Secondly, food– testing is a procedure required for food safety. Food– borne illness can be a serious public
health hazard. For this reason, some kitchen workers are required by law to have knowledge of food safety
procedures. Food–testing procedures should follow clear methodologies that can be reproduced under similar
circumstances. When testing the flavor of a food with a focus group, methodology might involve blind taste
testing, and then asking test subjects to evaluate the food's flavor on a numerical scale (Gartenstein, 2010,
para.7). As for food–borne pathogens, it might involve culturing and counting the number of microorganisms

ones of permitted and forbidden. Jews also believe that our moral choices we make in our life need to be
handled with much maturity and responsibility. As regards to sexual pleasure the Jews have strict laws to this.
On page fifty–three Kushner describes Jews having three different ways to react to sexual pleasures or any
pleasures. We can yield to our instincts like animals do, suppress them or sanctify them. The Jews sanctify their
instincts by keeping sex only for marriage and for the purpose of procreation. A last main belief can be found
on page sixty–seven of Jews is that called tzedaka or in English charity. Christians believe that giving is not
just the material sense of giving, but giving when it hurts. Christians believe that it doesn't matter how much
you give as long as you are giving a generous gift. The Jews believe in tzedaka meaning giving as much money
as you can and the more money you give the better and holier you are! Prayer is the last

Inuit Vs Eating Raw Meat
Some people think that it wasn't ok for the Inuit to eat to all the parts of an animal or eating raw meat because it
was either disgusting or bad for them because it causes diseases. Well they are half right. Actually eating raw
meat can be good for people, because technically meat that is cooked is harder to digest than raw meat. It was
right and ok for the Inuit to eat raw meat.
The Inuit ate raw meat because they had very few natural resources and very few edible plants to eat. When
food is being cooked the longer the person has it being cooked the more nutrients has been taken away. When
food is cooked some of the vitamins like vitamin c and vitamin b, have been lost or taken away during the
process of it being cooked. Cooked food has

Essay On Feral Hog
Feral Hog Release Impacts and Management solutions The devastation of soil, natural habitat and the
destruction of mass farmlands all caused by the notorious feral hogs that has become nature's neighbor that we
have all come to despise. Today I would like to discuss how this resilient species has impacted the natural
environments, and how their population is soaring in numbers; and last I would like to propose solutions to
address the current issues were are facing and how to manage them. We haven't always endured the dramatic
effect of these ghastly creatures. Around three hundred years ago the Spaniards, during their explorations
introduced the hogs to Texas. The hogs were intended for sustenance and lard for the new settlers here in
America. During the fight for Texas's independence the hogs were left unattended and managed to escape their
encasements. That being said, the hogs began reproducing at an alarming rate; now the feral hog ... Show more

According to the journal article from the University of Nebraska "In most states feral swine are unprotected or
classified as an agricultural pest, therefore hunting methods are liberal and swine can be harvested throughout
the year. States where feral swine are classified as game animals rely on hunter harvest to control or regulate
swine populations; however, sport hunting has had negligible effects on swine population management"
(Nathan03). This method has seem to be the most effective, but there are others that can be considered reliable
as well. There are methods that are nonlethal and are effective to satisfy the need to rid these beast from our
homes. All of these methods that have been mentioned are perfectly for eliminating the current threat like
creating fences for prevention and traps and eventually relocation of the animals. This method is less invasive

refers to the religious rite of a person that belongs to a Christian Church. His mother, Anna Maria Mozart and

While working freelance, Mozart wrote numerous operas and he was even asked to write a requiem, which is a
piece of music used to honor someone who had died.
Mozart was a virtuoso on the piano. A virtuoso refers to someone who is highly skilled on his or her
instrument. Mozart played keyboard and violin while his sister only played the keyboard. At the early age of 3,
Mozart was showing signs of being musically gifted and began composing shortly after. Both he and his sister
received intense musical training which, in turn, allowed Mozart the opportunity to grow as a musician. It
became certain that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a child prodigy. This meant that he had a skill that was not
learned. He had a natural gift for music. Their father, Leopold began teaching his children music at a young
age. Because of this, both children were destined to get far in their musical careers. Over his short life, Mozart
wrote several operas. His most famous operas include; The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute and La
Clemenza di Tito. Operas and plays that are entirely sung. Each of Mozart's operas have a story behind it. For
example, The Marriage of Figaro is a comedy about a couple trying to get married but, a series of obstacles
interferes with it. Because Mozart showed a talent for music at the young age of six, his father took him and his
sister to play in from of a court and they caught the attention of important individuals. This resulted in a tour.

Animal Ethics And Animal Farming
Not only does killing and torturing animals for the consumption of their meat and products harm the animal but
it harms humans and our planet as well. It is common to find people who are omnivores in our country and rare
to find a vegan. The vegan lifestyle is the only way that we can save this planet. Usually, if you are eating
dinner and someone mentions the animal that you are eating, when it was living, another person at the table
freaks out because they do not want to think of that. We disassociate ourselves with the actual living animal
that has suffered huge amounts on our plates because we see ourselves as animal lovers who are against
inhumane torture and killing of animals. You can not classify yourself as an animal lover if you consume an
animal or their product because you are still supporting their demise. Why? Because the taste pleases us. That
is all. We are disgusted by people who torture and hurt animals for pleasure. For example, people disassociate
themselves from the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team due to the actions of the player Michael Vick. Vick ran a
dog fighting ring and bet on dogs to kill one another. Why? For no other reason than the fact that it pleased
him. We say that we are animal lovers and agree that animals have at least some moral value but how does this
make killing and torturing animals for our consumption okay? Animal agriculture and factory farming are huge
industries that are sort of swept under the rug by omnivores. These

The Population of the Wild Hog is Exploding
Today in America there is a wild dangerous animal that is greatly expanding. It is being seen more often in
neighborhoods more than ever. The wild hog population is currently exploding. These animals get up to 400
pounds with 6 in long razor sharp teeth. They also have a thick hide and a armor like plating called a shield
around their chest area. They are destroying Americas agriculture industry as well as peoples property. By
digging their snouts into the earth and flipping it up to eat plant roots. This is called rooting. A group of hogs
can root and destroy several acres of crops or land in a single night. Wild hogs were first introduced to America
by the Spanish as a domestic animal used for meat. Over time these animals escaped and began free ranging
and breeding. They quickly became wild. In the 1930's owners of ranches introduced Russian boars to be shot
in game preserves. These Russian boars grow much larger, are more aggressive and have larger, sharper teeth.
When they escaped, cross breeding occurred that introduced the genes that gave America the hybrid feral swine
they have today. These animals are not only a threat to the economy but they are also a threat to people, other
wildlife and the native land.http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/wild/nuisance/feral_hogs/

The interesting things that I learned about Wolfgang Mozart was that half of his symphonies that he created
was between the age of eight and nineteen. He was given a nickname called "Wolfe". It was funny to me that
when he was a child he was afraid of the trumpet. When Mozart was performing in London when he was
young, people could not believe that a young person like Mozart could be that talented, so they thought that he
was dwarf. When he was fourteen, he performed Mitidate re di Panto and it was a successful performance for
him. Mozart could understand the word of music but could not write words. Mozart spent most of his life

Gnathostoma's Roundworm Disease
Gnathostoma is a roundworm parasite that is not normally found in humans. The roundworm is passed from the
host to a water bug called a Cyclops. It then is passed to a fish, snake or frog and finds its way into the muscle
of the infected creature. It can then be passed to humans when they consume the infected animals' meat. The
patient in the book acquired the parasite from eating a raw cobra heart while traveling to see his family in
Vietnam. In humans the larval form of the worm cannot develop in the stomach so it moves into the muscle of
its human victims. It would then travel to under the skin. It would then move throughout the body for a period
of 4 to 12 years. The migration of the worm through the body is due to it not being use to a human host. The
migration of the worm can lead to the brain and cause death in particularly severe cases. ... Show more content

The criteria are important for deciding whether a restaurant is of better quality. Furthermore, criteria are
necessary for the argument behind the restaurant that is chosen as the best. Food quality, respectable service,
reasonable price, and atmosphere were chosen as the criteria. Without the criteria, anything could go wrong.
Someone could be driving down the road and choose to eat at a restaurant that resembled a shack. Maybe the
person choosing the restaurant thinks it will be a nice and rustic, but the restaurant's atmosphere is all wrong;
the place is a total mess. The customer receives their food, and their meat is green. Food poisoning or worms
could result from this atrocious meal. There is a parasitic disease called trichinosis that could result from eating
raw or uncooked meat. Let's say that the food was actually fine, but the service was terrible. The food arrived
late and the smelly waiter had a sassy attitude. A whole day could be ruined. The customer could be late to the
occasion they had to make after the meal due to their food arriving late. Furthermore, the customer will be in a
terrible mood from receiving back talk from the waiter. This kind of instance could affect other people as well.
Maybe the customer had to go meet up with friends or family after the meal. Now, the customer would be in a

other composers. A particularly important influence was Johann Christian Bach, whom Mozart visited in
London in 1764 and 1765. The family again went to Vienna in late 1767 and remained there until December
1768. These trips were often arduous. Travel conditions were primitive;[10] the family had to wait for
invitations and reimbursement from the nobility.[11] They endured long, near–fatal illnesses far from home:
first Leopold (London, summer 1764)[12] then both children (The Hague, autumn 1765).[13] After one year in
Salzburg, father and son set off for Italy, leaving Wolfgang's mother and his sister at home. This travel lasted
from December 1769 to March 1771. As with earlier journeys, Leopold wanted to display his son's abilities as

Trichinosis Trichinosis is a rare infection caused by a parasitic worm. People can become infected by eating the
raw or undercooked meat of an animal infected with this worm. Bear meat and pig meat are possible sources of
this infection. The severity of the illness will vary depending on the number of worms in the contaminated meat
that is eaten. Once the worms are eaten, they enter the intestines and can cause symptoms. From there, the
worms travel through blood vessels to other areas of the body. When worms reach the muscles, a cyst forms
around the worms. The illness can range from mild to severe. In mild to moderate cases, most symptoms will

Mozart : Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. Mozart quickly became "the most
extraordinarily gifted child in the history of music" (Forney 169). Around the age of 3 Mozart became
interested in playing the keyboard, "he could also recall prominent passages from the pieces that he heard"
(Abert 19). At only reaching the age of four, Mozart's father had already begun to teach him a number of
minutes and other pieces on the keyboard, and not long before he was able to play them with total accuracy and
in perfect time. "Soon he was moved to write music of his own and was still only four when he wrote his first
short pieces, which he played to his father and which the latter duly notated" (Abert 19). Not only did Mozart
begin to compose before he was five but by the age of thirteen, he had already written everything from sonatas
to several operas. Leopold was the father of Mozart, which instantly gave him a strong foundation when it
came to the musical background. Leopold Mozart was a well–respected court composer–violinist, he dedicated
his life and energy to support his son's talent. Not only was Mozart influenced by his father but also by Johann
Christian Bach. At this time Mozart traveled to the courts of Paris, London, The Hague, and Zurich performing
with all the other child prodigies, this is how Mozart met Bach following one of their performances. They

Trichinella Lab Report
OUTBREAK REPORT ON TRICHINOSIS EPIDEMIC IN FRANCE
SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
Trichinosis also referred to as trichinellosis is caused by ingesting the larvae of the parasitic roundworm
species called Trichinella. The infection commonly occurs after eating raw or undercooked meat from animals
such as domestic pigs or wild boar, horses, bear or cougar. The Trichinella larvae will form a cyst within the
striated muscles of these animals and once ingested will mature into adult worms in the small intestine after 1–
2 days. These adult worms will mate and produce eggs, which will then develop into larvae that cross into the
blood system and migrate to striated muscles where they form cysts. The clinical presentation of Trichinosis

Clinicians were asked to report all suspected cases of trichinosis that had been diagnosed in the Auvergne
community, details to include were the signs and symptoms of cases, in addition hematological tests looking
for eosinophilia as well as serological tests. Across the province medical laboratories were asked to report all
cases who had who had unexplained eosinophilia. The local media were used to educate the public about the
possible risk of trichinosis associated with ingesting raw or undercooked horse meat. They were also instructed
to contact their general practitioner if they had flu–like symptoms with facial edema or muscular pain.
Case Definition
Confirmed case – defined as a person living in Auvergne with either muscle biopsy positive for trichinella or in
whom serial immunofluorescence (IF) assays demonstrated seroconversion.
Probable case – defined as a patient in Auvergne between February 15 and March 15 1991, with recent clinical
features of trichinosis (fever, facial edema or myalgia) or eosinophilia (>1 x 109 eosinophils per litre)
associated with a positive indirect IF assay for trichinella antibodies.
Epidemiological Studies
Two case control studies were commenced on April 3, 1991 in Auvergne. Two different control groups were
developed. One study had used controls who were asymptomatic persons who lived with the patients. While

The Relationship Between Porcine And Human Cysticercosis
Some of the other risk factors are linked to both porcine and human cysticercosis. According to Bhutta et al
(2012) ,Garrett et al (2015) and Assana et al (2010), low level hygiene environment such as dirty contaminated
soil and lack of latrine may rise opportunities to access Taeniid ova because dirty soil can increase the
possibility of exposure to taeniid ova for both human and pig and taeniid ova can flow to water resource like
wells in rainy season.
Certainly, according to many of these articles including WHO, the installment of a large number of latrines can
control the risk factor because it can prevent the contamination(WHO 2015), However, there is the article
reporting that public(community) latrine can bring weaker effect and all ... Show more content on

Interestingly, more than 10 members decreased the risk in the result. Although Mwape infer this is because
such large size family cannot consume pork frequently due to the costs, a stronger evidence would be necessary
to prove this. Therefore,a more large–scale observation such as cohort study is highly recommendable to
identify the necessity of latrines in the future.
Each of the resources examines other risk factors why such transmission situation between pig and human
occur from various points of view in detail. Carabin et al(2015) and Edia–Asukeet al(2014) maintain that the
older people, the higher infection rate it is. They infer that the frequency of the exposure is related to the
infection. Interestingly, the change point analysis which determine the number of people with active infections
(cysticercosis)increases from at 30 years old in Zambia. This result is quite younger than the result in Ecuador
under the same analysis (Mwape et al, 2015). This result could imply that sub–saharan Africa is at higher risk
for T. solium infection than Latin America.
As an interesting site as a possible risk factor, slaughterhouse situations are referred in some articles. For
example, in Nigeria, there is an existing abattoir law to do proper management. However, various problem is
identified from the actual situations. Especially, unregistered and private home pig slaughter slabs may cause

The Two Principles Of A Basis Of Our Brain Capacity,...
Tiraj Lucas
Professor Onishi
Philosophy 229
March 5th, 2017
INTRODUCTION
The problem at hand is that majority humans believe we are superior to non–human animals on the basis of our
brain capacity, ability, and preferences of life. The two principles of consequentialism I plan to work with is the
two that consequentialism are based on: 1. Whether an act is right or wrong depends only on the results of that
act. 2. The better consequences an act produces, the better or more right that act. These two principles play a
part in non–human animal inequality because it emphasizes that a person should choose the action that
maximizes the good of consequences for all living beings. If we apply the first principle we could conclude that
non–human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another argument is that it is believed to natural and ancestral for humans to eat non–human animals.
Neverless, in cavemen days their life span was much shorter, they did not kill nearly as many animals that are
killed today in factory farming, they ate for survival, and their diets consisted of fruits and vegetables; not
McDonalds and steroid induced animals. Humans are the only species in the animal kingdom who have to cook
and season their meat before eating it. We do not salivate naturally at the sight of raw meat like real carnivores
do. We would get food poisoning, salmonella, e.coli, mad cow disease, norovirus, trichinosis, etc, when we
ever did eat raw or unhealthy meat. Yet somehow there are people who think our human species hasn 't evolved
passed the 'need to eat meat to survive ' phase, and continue to use ancestral history as an illogical reason to
continue to contribute to suffering and environmental atrocities. Non–human animal equality is not only an
ignored environmental issue but an ignored social issue, resulting in another form of racism or sexism by the
name of speciesism. Speciesm is "the idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to
have greater moral rights than non–human animals. A prejudice or bias in favor of the interests

Vegetables - A Healthy Lifestyle Choice

  • 1. Essay Vegetables Vegetables – It's What's for Dinner James Garner, a washed–up hollywood celebrity, was paid by the meat board to tout beef as, "Real food for real people." In April of 1988, James Garner underwent a quintuple coronary artery bypass surgery (Realities 1989). This is just one of the shocking side effects of consumption of meat. "The practice of vegetarianism involves eating vegetable products and not consuming meat, fish, and in many instances, egg and dairy products." ("Vegetarianism"). Thus, a vegetarian diet can benefit individuals as well as the world. Vegetarianism is a very healthy, environmentally aware, animal friendly lifestyle. There are three major types of vegetarians. Lacto–ovo–vegetarians do not eat meat, but will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even so, Sufi Mystics (who are among the chief guides of Muslim spiritual life) recommend a vegetarian diet for spiritual seekers. Hindu and Buddhist sects also consider all animal life sacred and taught that human beings should avoid harming animals. Doctor T. Colin Campbell, a Cornell University nutritional biochemist says, "we're basically a vegetarian species and should be eating a wide variety of plant foods and minimizing our intake of animal foods." He further stated, "in the next ten years, one of the things you're bound to hear is that animal protein...is one of the most toxic nutrients of all that can be considered" (Vegan Action). Such are the realities of meat consumption. The complete list of all known ailments caused by meat, dairy and egg consumption is as follows: strokes, heart disease, osteoporosis, kidney stones, breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, stomach cancer, Endometrial cancer, diabetes, hypoglycemia, kidney disease, peptic ulcers, constipation, hemorrhoids, hiatal hernias, diverticulosis, obesity, gallstones, hypertension, asthma, salmonellosis, trichinosis, and irritable colon syndrome. The rise in blood cholesterol level from consuming one egg per day is 12 percent (Realities 1989). A diet that has a 50 percent reduction in the amount of meat consumed, can lessen the risk of heart attack by 45 percent. Greater still, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Yellow Wall Essay The Yellow Wall– was published in 1892 by Charlotte Perkins Stetson. The story was written as a semi– autobiographical short story about an unnamed narrator that describes the treatment of women during this time frame. It takes place in a county rental home where her husband has taken her for some treatment from an "illness" that she supposedly has. Through ethos, pathos, and logos I will review the story and show the reader that in fact the unnamed narrator was not mentally ill when she arrived at the county home but did in fact become mentally ill through the treatment that was delivered. The story starts with our no name narrator and her husband coming to a county home that he has rented for three months to provide her with relaxation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It appears that her thought process is intake and she well articulates herself. "It is seldom that mere ordinary people like John and myself secure ancestral halls for the summer" (Steton 647). As the story progresses the narrators sentence structure becomes erratic and short wither thoughts running rapidly as evidenced not only in what she says, by how she says it, "I quite enjoy the room, now it is bare again. How those children did tear about here! This bedstead is fairly gnawed! But I must get to work" (Stetson 655).By using the sentence s and sentence structure the reader can validate that the narrators mental wellbeing is deteriorating. We are told that her husband was a physician and was charged with her care. The simple title of physician automatically conveys a sense of trust and knowledge that others do not have. A higher authority if you will, " If a physician of high standing, and one's own husband, assures friends and relatives there is really nothing wrong to matter with one but temporary nervous depression– a slight hysterical tendency–what is one to do? (Stetson 648) " Can you not trust me as a physician when I tell you so?"(Stetson, 652). "He is very careful and loving, and hardly lets me stir without special direction...I have a schedule prescription for each hour of the day."(Stetson, 648) By establishing that he is a doctor and reaffirming that he loves her and attentive allows ... Harris goes in depth explaining the differences between pig haters and pig lovers, and what that meant for their societies. Harris wants to know "how to account for an apparently bizarre and wasteful taboo" (45). He explains the history of pig hatred for the Jews and Moslems, stating that the Bible condemned them from eating pig because they were dirty. Every reason given for why pigs are hated was irrational in the sense that the same thing could ultimately be said about most other animals. Although Archbishop Colloredo was a less generous employer, Mozart continued in his Salzburg post and worked diligently from 1775 to 1777. However, in an effort to secure a better position, Mozart obtained leave from Salzburg, and set out with his mother in 1777. • 9. Judaism And Islam : Abrahamic Religions Essay Kristianne Mulkey PHIL 301–001 Philosophy of Religion Judaism & Islam Abrahamic Religions/Religions of the Book It may be common to think of each religion as something completely separate from every other religion, however, this is far from true. In a similar way that Buddhism evolved from the previously established Hinduism, there are three "Abrahamic Religions" that are said to stem from the patriarch Abraham: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The three (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are also regarded as "religions of the book" since they all consider the Old Testament of the Bible to be holy writ. Judaism only recognize the Old Testament. Christianity recognizes the Old Testament and the New Testament. Islam recognizes the Old and New Testaments along with the Koran (also spelled "Quran" or "Qur'an") to be holy documents that add to and correct the previous with each new archive, though each in itself is holy. The idea of Christianity and the beliefs behind it are constantly changing and varying since there are thousands of denominations of Christianity which can believe in and practice completely different things. This being considered, focusing on mainly Judaism and Islam will be a more achievable task in this paper. The Western world is more ignorant about Islam and misunderstands it more than any of the three Abrahamic religions. This is strongly due to misinformation along with radical practices showing up on the news, in movies and in books. Since Islam has some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Decimating Effects of Infectious Disease in the New World "It is often said that in the centuries after Columbus landed in the New World on 12 October, 1492, more native North Americans died each year from infectious diseases brought by the European settlers than were born." (6) The decimation of people indigenous to the Americas by diseases introduced by European invaders is unprecedented. While it is difficult to accurately determine the population of the pre– Columbian Americas, scholars estimate the number to have been between 40 and 50 million people. However, tracing epidemiology in the 15th century is difficult because so little was done to identify and classify diseases and their symptoms during this time period. One might say that the New World was "ripe" for the onslaught of hitherto unknown diseases due to several demographic shifts prior to 1492. These are parallel to shifts that occurred in Europe such as the creation of large urban areas. Since city planning wasn't what it is today, cities were overcrowded, sewers were nonexistent or inefficient, and disease carrying vermin multiplied. This created a welcome mat for infectious disease in addition to the general uncleanliness of the population and the great number of transient people such as soldiers, students, thieves and the mentally ill. Another factor leading to the assault of disease on medieval Europe was the domestication of large mammals. These animals were the origins of some of the most cursed afflictions of the time. Smallpox is a derivative of cowpox, measles of canine distemper, and influenza of hog diseases. "At first, neither young or old were spared. After generations, susceptible individuals were eliminated and resistant survivors dominated the gene pool. Diseases went from epidemics to childhood ills." Max was pretty normal; he had a wife, a few kids, and occasionally sang "Proud to be an American" at Boy Scout functions. Max was also in commercials. He was the guy in the "Don't Waste Utah" campaign. Max drove a cool car, had a cool dog, and he hated littering. Garbage is for a garbage can; putting it anywhere else is bad for the planet. Don't. Waste. Utah. Seeing as how I believe in proper environmental stewardship, I read Gone Tomorrow for this month's book club. It is a thought provoking book about a subject that many people choose not to lose sleep over: garbage. We all make it, and we all throw it out. Garbage is something that gives meaning to the phrase "out of sight, out of mind." As soon as the garbage man comes at his regularly scheduled time, our trash is whisked away to be properly disposed of. As long as we put garbage in the trash can and not on the side of the street, we're doing the right thing (and consequently not wasting Utah). Incidentally, there are those of us who sometimes wonder if there is something inherently wrong with our quick and "proper" disposal of discards. I, myself, have felt the occasional pang of guilt when I drop something in the trash can. I recycle; isn't that enough? Gone Tomorrow explores this question, and it sheds a dirty light on the reality of our disappearing garbage trick. Sanitation and Disease In the beginning trash was more ... The Atomic Bomb Of Hiroshima And Hiroshima On August 6 and August 9, 1945 in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, survival solely depended on being in the right place at the right time. When American planes dropped the atomic bombs onto the cities of Japan, no one knew what exactly would be the effect of this powerful nuclear weapon. However even years later, innocent Japanese citizens suffer from the experience of these traumatic days during World War II. Despite the horrors, critical information and research was drawn from the development of the atomic bomb and scientists have discovered that there are many benefits of using nuclear energy, in a peaceful manner, in our world as opposed to using other energy sources, such as coal or gas. For example, nuclear energy has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On August 6, 1945, an American plane, the Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The attacked killed approximately 150,000 Japanese citizens and two days later, a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing an additional 75,000 Japanese. On August 14, 1945, the Japanese surrendered, ending the World War II, which lasted a dreadful six years (The Decision to Drop the Bomb). However, about five years earlier, the United States had no intentions of created a nuclear weapon until Albert Einstein and Enrico Fermi wrote a letter to President Roosevelt to warn the U.S. of the atomic technology being produced in the Axis countries. Roosevelt did not see the necessity for such a project, but he agreed to slowly proceed. In late 1941, the Manhattan Project, the code name for the American efforts to design and build an atomic bomb, was established. The project took place in Los Alamos, New Mexico and Robert Oppenheimer was put in charge of putting the pieces together. In total, nearly two billion dollars had been spent of the development and research of the atomic bomb while employing over 120,000 Americans. Nearly five years later on July 14, 1945, at the Trinity Site in New Mexico, the world's first atomic bomb was ready to test. The scientists who had put all their effort into making this nuclear weapon watched the major destruction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There many different types of people the suffer from this disorder and some such as women that are going through a pregnancy, or people that also have some type of nutritional deficiency, mental retardation, brain damage, and in a majority of these cases it's found in young children. The name Pica come from the latin word for Magpie which a species of bird that feeds on almost everything it encounters. CAUSES Pica's exact cause is still unknown due to the many different cases it is found, but some doctors and scientists have come up with the broad agreement that it is either caused by a nutritional deficiency, cultural influences, ... Pediatricians consider it developmentally wrong if Pica is found in children older than 18–24 months, due to the fact that by that age they should know what is appropriate to consume. If the patient has a type of mental retardation, Pica is found between the ages of 10–20 years old. It can also occur in young mothers in late adolescence or early adulthood but all signs and symptoms should be gone by the end of their pregnancy, however in some uncommon cases, Pica can continue sporadically for years post ... • 33. Trichinosis Research Paper Trichinosis Trichinosis is a rare infection caused by a parasitic worm. People can become infected by eating the raw or undercooked meat of an animal infected with this worm. Bear meat and pig meat are possible sources of this infection. The severity of the illness will vary depending on the number of worms in the contaminated meat that is eaten. Once the worms are eaten, they enter the intestines and can cause symptoms. From there, the worms travel through blood vessels to other areas of the body. When worms reach the muscles, a cyst forms around the worms. The illness can range from mild to severe. In mild to moderate cases, most symptoms will go away in a few months. The infection can cause serious health problems if the worms heavily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Mozart : Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. Mozart quickly became "the most extraordinarily gifted child in the history of music" (Forney 169). Around the age of 3 Mozart became interested in playing the keyboard, "he could also recall prominent passages from the pieces that he heard" (Abert 19). At only reaching the age of four, Mozart's father had already begun to teach him a number of minutes and other pieces on the keyboard, and not long before he was able to play them with total accuracy and in perfect time. "Soon he was moved to write music of his own and was still only four when he wrote his first short pieces, which he played to his father and which the latter duly notated" (Abert 19). Not only did Mozart begin to compose before he was five but by the age of thirteen, he had already written everything from sonatas to several operas. Leopold was the father of Mozart, which instantly gave him a strong foundation when it came to the musical background. Leopold Mozart was a well–respected court composer–violinist, he dedicated his life and energy to support his son's talent. Not only was Mozart influenced by his father but also by Johann Christian Bach. At this time Mozart traveled to the courts of Paris, London, The Hague, and Zurich performing with all the other child prodigies, this is how Mozart met Bach following one of their performances. They quickly became friends and Mozart considered Bach as an instrumental influence in his work. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Trichinella Lab Report OUTBREAK REPORT ON TRICHINOSIS EPIDEMIC IN FRANCE SUMMARY INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND Trichinosis also referred to as trichinellosis is caused by ingesting the larvae of the parasitic roundworm species called Trichinella. The infection commonly occurs after eating raw or undercooked meat from animals such as domestic pigs or wild boar, horses, bear or cougar. The Trichinella larvae will form a cyst within the striated muscles of these animals and once ingested will mature into adult worms in the small intestine after 1– 2 days. These adult worms will mate and produce eggs, which will then develop into larvae that cross into the blood system and migrate to striated muscles where they form cysts. The clinical presentation of Trichinosis varies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clinicians were asked to report all suspected cases of trichinosis that had been diagnosed in the Auvergne community, details to include were the signs and symptoms of cases, in addition hematological tests looking for eosinophilia as well as serological tests. Across the province medical laboratories were asked to report all cases who had who had unexplained eosinophilia. The local media were used to educate the public about the possible risk of trichinosis associated with ingesting raw or undercooked horse meat. They were also instructed to contact their general practitioner if they had flu–like symptoms with facial edema or muscular pain. Case Definition Confirmed case – defined as a person living in Auvergne with either muscle biopsy positive for trichinella or in whom serial immunofluorescence (IF) assays demonstrated seroconversion. Probable case – defined as a patient in Auvergne between February 15 and March 15 1991, with recent clinical features of trichinosis (fever, facial edema or myalgia) or eosinophilia (>1 x 109 eosinophils per litre) associated with a positive indirect IF assay for trichinella antibodies. Epidemiological Studies Two case control studies were commenced on April 3, 1991 in Auvergne. Two different control groups were developed. One study had used controls who were asymptomatic persons who lived with the patients. While the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Relationship Between Porcine And Human Cysticercosis Some of the other risk factors are linked to both porcine and human cysticercosis. According to Bhutta et al (2012) ,Garrett et al (2015) and Assana et al (2010), low level hygiene environment such as dirty contaminated soil and lack of latrine may rise opportunities to access Taeniid ova because dirty soil can increase the possibility of exposure to taeniid ova for both human and pig and taeniid ova can flow to water resource like wells in rainy season. Certainly, according to many of these articles including WHO, the installment of a large number of latrines can control the risk factor because it can prevent the contamination(WHO 2015), However, there is the article reporting that public(community) latrine can bring weaker effect and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, more than 10 members decreased the risk in the result. Although Mwape infer this is because such large size family cannot consume pork frequently due to the costs, a stronger evidence would be necessary to prove this. Therefore,a more large–scale observation such as cohort study is highly recommendable to identify the necessity of latrines in the future. Each of the resources examines other risk factors why such transmission situation between pig and human occur from various points of view in detail. Carabin et al(2015) and Edia–Asukeet al(2014) maintain that the older people, the higher infection rate it is. They infer that the frequency of the exposure is related to the infection. Interestingly, the change point analysis which determine the number of people with active infections (cysticercosis)increases from at 30 years old in Zambia. This result is quite younger than the result in Ecuador under the same analysis (Mwape et al, 2015). This result could imply that sub–saharan Africa is at higher risk for T. solium infection than Latin America. As an interesting site as a possible risk factor, slaughterhouse situations are referred in some articles. For example, in Nigeria, there is an existing abattoir law to do proper management. However, various problem is identified from the actual situations. Especially, unregistered and private home pig slaughter slabs may cause more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Two Principles Of A Basis Of Our Brain Capacity,... Tiraj Lucas Professor Onishi Philosophy 229 March 5th, 2017 INTRODUCTION The problem at hand is that majority humans believe we are superior to non–human animals on the basis of our brain capacity, ability, and preferences of life. The two principles of consequentialism I plan to work with is the two that consequentialism are based on: 1. Whether an act is right or wrong depends only on the results of that act. 2. The better consequences an act produces, the better or more right that act. These two principles play a part in non–human animal inequality because it emphasizes that a person should choose the action that maximizes the good of consequences for all living beings. If we apply the first principle we could conclude that non–human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another argument is that it is believed to natural and ancestral for humans to eat non–human animals. Neverless, in cavemen days their life span was much shorter, they did not kill nearly as many animals that are killed today in factory farming, they ate for survival, and their diets consisted of fruits and vegetables; not McDonalds and steroid induced animals. Humans are the only species in the animal kingdom who have to cook and season their meat before eating it. We do not salivate naturally at the sight of raw meat like real carnivores do. We would get food poisoning, salmonella, e.coli, mad cow disease, norovirus, trichinosis, etc, when we ever did eat raw or unhealthy meat. Yet somehow there are people who think our human species hasn 't evolved passed the 'need to eat meat to survive ' phase, and continue to use ancestral history as an illogical reason to continue to contribute to suffering and environmental atrocities. Non–human animal equality is not only an ignored environmental issue but an ignored social issue, resulting in another form of racism or sexism by the name of speciesism. Speciesm is "the idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to have greater moral rights than non–human animals. A prejudice or bias in favor of the interests ...
