Forceps delivery is a vaginal delivery procedure where obstetric forceps are used to assist in extracting the fetal head and accomplishing delivery of the fetus. Forceps delivery may be indicated when there is a delay in the second stage of labor due to issues like uterine inertia, maternal exhaustion, or fetal malposition. It can also help address complications in the second stage such as fetal distress, cord prolapse, or eclampsia.
