8. Attention: Graduating students
Each year members of the graduating class nominate candidates and then vote to choose the student who will represent the
graduates in Grade 12. The valedictorian addresses the graduates and audience during the commencement exercises on June 29th.
Process:
A. Only graduating students can nominate candidates. The candidates will have the opportunity to be the valedictorian.
NOMINATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE online. See your Remind Text or the office for the link.
B. Each nomination must have a primary and a seconder nominator. Last day to submit a nomination is Friday, April 21 by 2:30
p.m. Each student can only nominate a student once (not twice or more), or second a person once (not twice or more).
C. Nominations will be tabulated. The list will be reduced to the top three candidates based on the number of nominations for
each person.
D. Voting will take place by secret ballot at the Grad Breakfast on May 24. Students who cannot attend the grad breakfast can
vote at the main office on May 24 only.
E. The valedictorian will be announced Thursday, May 25, on the morning announcements.
F. The valedictorian will be required to make a speech at Commencement. (The speech must be submitted to School
Administration prior to Commencement for approval.)

11. Pride Prom 2017- CANDYLAND
• The GSA is proud to extend an invitation to all LGTBQ students or
their allies to this year’s Pride Prom taking place at Bear Creek
Secondary School on Friday , April 28. The cost is $10 and you must
have a completed permission invitation form in order to attend. You
can get the permission form from Mr. Pearson anytime in room 212.
13. New Scholarships are popping up all the time, be sure to look for
regular updates in Guidance. A Financial Info/ Scholarship Folder is
available on the side counter in the Guidance Office.
