3. INTERPRETATION OF THE LYRICS
I think the lyrics in the song re basically encouraging people to get on their feet and dance as if
nobody is watching. “Go mad” is the title of the song and a phrase that is repeated very often
in the son indicating that they want it to be a song to get people moving and enjoying
themselves.
4. SYNOPSIS OF THE VIDEO
I'd say that this music video is basically just a dance video. It consists f people by themselves or
in groups or just every one dancing in different locations such as a skate park, a pathway in a
forest and an empty car park from beginning to end. having said that its just dancing the video
doesn't get bring because most of the dancing doesn't seem to be choreographed so you can't
predict what exactly is going come next.
5. NARRATIVE, CONCEPTUAL OR PERFOMANCE
BASED?
This music video is definitely performance based because it content in simply just dancing. it
doesn't follow a story Line although the video and the lyrics of the song match up very well.
"Buss a move like alkaiyida". Alkaiyida is a dance from Ghana and when this line is the song is
said the people in the video begin to do this dance.
6. THEMES ANDD MOTIFS
• Fun and togetherness – demonstrated when everyone is dancing and playing with each other
• Dance – the main theme in this music video when is shown from beginning to end
• Friendship – Some people hug each other in the start of the video and Kwamz and Flava are sat
greeting their friends
7. LIP SYNCHING
There is plenty of lip synching in this music video not only from the two artists but also from
the other people in the video as they are singing along. This is obviously because in the video
they are dancing and it would be hard to do both the singing and dancing at once so they lip
synch instead.
8. TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for this song and music video is both males and females under the age of
30. I think this because the video is quite bus, engaging and fun for all ages as it it family
friendly as well with no inappropriate language or scenes used in it.
9. MISE-EN-SCENE
In the video everyone including the artists are dressed in basic casual, everyday clothing such as
trainer, tracksuits, basic t-shirts, snapbacks etc. This makes them all blend in with each other
which adds on to the theme of togetherness. There is also only two props used in the video
which are skateboards and flares, I think this was done to keep the video simple and insure that
the main focus was on the people in the video and what they were doing.
10. CAMERA
The video begins with a low angle shot in the empty car park in which Kwamz and Flava walk into.
The camera looks as if it has been placed on the ground at a slated angle. There is also use of many
two shots especially during the first verse of the song from different angles of the artist lip
synching. I also notice the use of close up shots of different people throughout the video. For
example, Mista Silva who is featured in the video, his verse consist of mostly close up shot of him
lip synching his verse of the song.
11. EDITING AND LIGHTING
From the beginning of the video I noticed the use of text in a graffiti type font that is use to introduce the title
of the song and the artists names. There’s also slow motion in the beginning in the shot of a guy riding on his
skateboard and another slow motion shot of Kwamz and Flava greeting their friends. There is also a few scene
in the music video which are in black and white which adds on to the simplicity of the video an how everybody
blends in together. There is also flashes between each scene change. From beginning to end there is bight
lighting which adds onto the fun theme of the video as it makes the video look more exciting.
12. THINGS FROM THIS MUSIC VIDEO THAT I
COULD USE IN MINE:
• Use of bright colours and lighting to create an exciting, fun and energetic atmosphere.
• Different camera angles
• Simple backgrounds to keep the attention on the people in the video
• Slow motion in the intro of the video as a way of introducing the artists into the video.
