It is suggested you save this PP in a different name and
share it with your group so you always have a copy –
some sections require you to delete the information on
the slide and replace with your own work

This document will be added to as you progress through
the pre-production phase.
4. FIRE- BTS
One of the music videos I am taking
inspiration from is ‘Fire’ by BTS. I chose this
video to take inspiration from because it
involves lots of things that I would include
within my music video.
The music video for ‘Fire’ includes a dance
scene for each of the main chorus parts. This
is similar to what I want to include within my
music video, I decided to do this because it
creates variation so the video is not as boring
as if it was just people.
The video includes a fast cut montage, this is
similar to what I want in my video, I am going
to edit the video by the tempo of the song, so
if I use a fast song I will edit the image
montage faster to go along with this tempo.
5. PLAYING WITH FIRE- BLACKPINK
Another music video I am taking inspiration from is
BlackPink’s ‘Playing With Fire’.
The video for ‘Playing With Fire’ has lots of abstract
imagery, this is similar to what I want to include within
my music video. I chose to do this because it makes the
video less boring and the imagery makes the viewer more
engaged as they have to think about what the imagery
may mean. This means the music video could get more
views as the viewer has to watch the video multiple times
to understand the meaning of the imagery.
The video also includes close ups of the members of the
band, this makes the viewer connect with the artist, Also
because the video is represents the artist. I decided to
use this technique in my music video as it can make the
audience feel like they are closer to the artist and it can
also make the audience feel the emotion that the person
is conveying.
6. I’M NOT SORRY- DEAN
The music video for ‘I'm Not Sorry’ by Dean is another
music video I am taking inspiration from.
The video uses colourisation to convey the feeling of the
song, the video is in black and white because the song is
sad. I want to include this within my music video,
because I want my video to reflect how the song is, so if
the song is happy I will have the video be bright and if it
is sad I’ll make it look dark or black and white.
The video also has the lyrics shown on the screen, I like
this effect because it connects the lyrics directly to
certain imagery, so the viewer finds it easier to connect
them together.
7. SHANGRI-LA- VIXX
The video for ‘Shangri-La’ by VIXX contains many
different techniques that I am taking inspiration for my
music video from.
An example of this is that the video includes a fast cut
montage, this can increase the amount of views because
the imagery goes fast enough that the viewer has to
watch the video multiple times to be able to understand
what is happening within the video, this is the reason I
am including this within my music video.
The video also includes dance scenes for the choruses,
this is similar to what I want to include within my music
video. I decided to do this because it cuts up the footage.
8. NEVER EVER- GOT7
I am also taking inspiration from the song ‘Never Ever’ by
GOT7.
The video for ‘Never Ever’ is quite dark this is to go with
the sound of the song, the colourisation of the video
reflects how the song is sad. I want to do this within my
music video as it shows the audience what the style of
the song is visually.
‘Never Ever’ also has close ups of the members of the
band, I want to include this so the viewers of my music
video will connect with the people included within the
video.
In the video there is lots of abstract imagery this is so the
video is visually stimulation for the viewer and so the
viewer does not get bored by the visuals. I am going to
include this within my video so the audience do not get
bored by the video.
11. CONVENTIONS AND
TECHNIQUES
Camera- I am going to use close up shots of the main people in
my music video this is going to show the emotion that the actor
is conveying. This will make the viewer more likely to connect to
the people within the music video and will help to make them
feel similarly to how the person is.
I am also going to have the camera moving angles a lot, for
instance it is going to be like a fast cut montage but showing the
same scene from different camera angles. This will make my
music video more interesting as the viewer can get bored by the
same camera angle being used constantly.
For the dance scene of the music video I am going to show the
dancer from multiple angles, almost like the camera is circling
them, doing this will make the dance scene more interesting
especially if the dance is repeated multiple times.
Editing- I am going to use fast cut montages within my music
video, I am using them to cut between multiple different shots,
12. CONVENTIONS AND
TECHNIQUES
I am also going to use a split screen, this is going to be used
within my music video multiple times. The actors within my
video are going to be running and it is going to be split screened
to show them both running, however the camera angle is going
to switch between side angle, front and back, this is going to be
shown multiple times until the end where they are running and
meet.
My music video is also going to be colorized black and white,
this is because the song I chose is sad and I wanted to show this
within my music video quickly, it being in black and white is
going to do this.
Styles- The song I chose is a Hip-Hop/Pop song however it is
sad so for the music video I am not going to be following any
commonly used genre conventions of these genres of music.
13. SUMMARY
-Something that will go well when filming the video is the dance. The dance will
match the feeling of the music video and will go with the song. Also the shots for
this part is going to be relatively easy to film since it is going between close ups of
her feet and long distance shot to show her fully so the viewer can see her dance.
-Another thing that will go well is the order the scenes are going to be in, this is
because I have planned the shots in a lot of detail so I know when certain things
are going to be shown and what needs to be filmed and when.
-Something else that would be good is if the weather would be rainy or downcast,
this is because it fits with the theme of my music video and would help it appear
sadder and not happy.
-Using my fiends as my cast will help me because it means they are less likely to
not turn up, than strangers would have.
-Hiring equipment from college means that I do not have to worry about the costs
of buying the equipment. However as shown on the things that could go wrong
part is that when hiring the equipment I may not be able to hire them for when I
want to.
14. SUMMARY
-Something that could go wrong while I am filming is weather, especially since I
am going to be filming outdoors for quite a lot of my music video. If the weather
is bad, like raining, it may look better for my music video than the weather being
super sunny because of the theme of the video and song, so if it is really sunny I
may have to reschedule filming or move the scenes so they are inside instead of
outdoors.
-Another thing that could go wrong is having my cast not turning up. If this were
to happen I could play the female and dance within my video if I have to. But for
the man I would have to find another one of my friends that could help me, or I
could alternately reschedule the filming of the video so the person can come.
-I might not be able to hire a camera when I want to. If this were to happen I
would hire it when it is available and make sure the cast are able to film at that
time, essentially rescheduling the shoot.
-I may not be given permission to film in certain areas, if this were to happen I
will find somewhere else to film that part of the video.
-Something that could go wrong when filming this music video is going to be
having the cast show the emotion I want them to. If this were to happen I can
make them refilm scenes and give them more direction on how to show that
emotion.
15. FINAL IDEA –
ARTIST/TITLE/INFO
Name of track / name of artist: ‘If You Do’ by GOT7
Brief biographical background: GOT7 is a South Korean boy group
formed and under the production company ‘JYP Entertainment’.
The group has seven members: JB, Mark, BamBam, Yugyeom,
Jinyoung, Jackson and Youngjae. They debuted in January of 2014,
and have since released 8 full length albums.
Links to other artists: There are many different bands that are
similar to GOT7 some are BTS, Exo and Seventeen.
Genre info: The genre of their music is K-pop, Hip-Hop, Trap, Pop
and R&B.
16. FINAL IDEA – TRACK
SUMMARY
The song ‘If You Do’ is about a selfish partner, that will get angry or do something
wrong then act as if she has done nothing wrong so it seems as if the other person is
the one ruining the relationship. She destroys the relationship but won’t end it. “It’s up
to you if you want to break up. I don’t care. This is shown through the lyrics of the
song such as ‘Just do whatever you want. It doesn’t matter to me. I’ll just go to sleep.”
shows how she wont confront the issue and would rather the other partner to take
responsibility. Within the music video this is shown by the woman not being present in
it, they are left to deal with their frustrations and emotions by taking it out on their
surroundings through vandalism and destroying things.
The pace of the song is quite fast in parts and slow in others, this is a contrast to how
break up songs normally sound. The genre of the song is a mixture of pop and hip-
hop, this is because it has a fast beat in the song but the singing sounds to be filled
with sorrow and this shows how the song is a sad styled song. The lyrics for the song
also suggest that the song is about a sad topic, some lyrics like ‘I’m desperate to break
free’ and ‘If I say something you always say let’s break up’, they describe a couple
going through bad moments and in the end mentions how they break up due to these
problems
17. FINAL IDEA – YOUR IDEA
The storyline for my music video is going to be that a couple are having an
argument but end up getting back together at the end of the video. Within the
music video there will be no context to what the argument is about, I chose to do
this because if the video did show the reason the audience would be less likely to
be able to relate to the storyline, whereas they can as most couples have
arguments. I decided to do this storyline because it is what the English translated
lyrics depict for instance with the lines ‘You magnified even my minor mistakes’
and ‘And pushed me to the edge of the cliff’, they sound like something that
would be said in an argument. I also chose to do this storyline as the audience
would be able to relate to it, as most people have arguments with their significant
other and this will make people feel as if they can relate to the feelings shown
within the song.
The first few scenes are going to show the couple having their argument, this is to
show quickly what the music video is about. During the choruses a dancer is going
to dance. The dance section is a common genre convention for K-pop music, and is
used in most music videos for this type of music. I am going to have scenes of the
cast walking/running and at the end they are going to run to each other, showing
that the story of the video has a happy ending. The video will show how the couple
deal with the argument, for instance the woman gets angry and breaks things, and
the man is shown visibly upset by the argument. I am going to have the video is
black and white because the theme of the song is sad, also the video being in black
and white is a common genre convention for hip-hop music videos. Within the
video I am only going to have imagery of people lip-synching to parts of the song
because the song is in Korean and it would be too difficult to have lots of lip-
synching within it.
19. GUIDANCE:
TIME
Week One- Create a storyboard for the storyline of the music video.
Create mind maps for each of my story ideas, this will help me decide which I will use for
my music video.
Research the actors I would need for certain roles, and see how much they would cost to
hire.
Research the equipment I would need and what software I would need to be able to edit
the video.
Research the equipment I would need and what software I would need to be able to edit
the video.
Research the crew members I would need, for camerawork, editing and lighting, and the
costs to hire these people.
Week Two- Research the locations I would be using and see if I have to get any
permission to use those spaces.
I will look around college at the facilities that I may be using, such as the green screen
and studios and think about whether I would like to use them or not.
Ensure that the crew and cast will be able to attend the shoot, this will make sure that
they are more likely to not be able to make it or drop out.
Get all permission forms signed for any locations I will be using, and for the actors who
20. GUIDANCE:
TIME
Week Three- I will hire out a camera and start to film parts of the music video, I
will begin by filming the dance sections of the video, I will take a couple hours
doing this because I need to redo certain parts of the dance with changing the
position or angle of the camera.
Get the cast for my video, one boy and one girl and begin to film the scenes of
them. I will refilm multiple scenes so that the camera can be in a different position
or the actors can change what they are doing to change how the scene would look.
Look over the footage and check to see how the shots look and if they will fit in
with the music. This will also help with me deciding on if there will be any reshoots
needed and find time to do them.
Week Four and Week Five: Will be spend editing the video clips, and putting
them to the chosen music.
I will also make sure I have time left over so that if anything were to go wrong I
would have time to fix it.
21. LOCATIONS
The locations for my music video would be ideally in a dance studio,
this means I would have to book a dance studio for a couple days. The
cost to hire a dance studio within york costs £20 per hour but can be
higher depending on the size needed. I wanted my music video to be
filmed within a dance studio because my plan for the music video
includes parts of dance, this would be easiest done within a dance
studio. My plan however is not all just dancing so I would not have to
book the studio for the full two days. Link:
http://www.yorkdancecentre.co.uk/dance-studio-york.html
If
Another location for my music video would be a forest of some kind, this
would have no cost however I may have to get permission to film on the
land, the forest will be outdoors so I will also have to worry about the
weather. Depending on the distance to the forest I will have to pay for
travel, this could be a taxi which would cost between £10-£30. I could
also transport people by car (One I own), the cost of petrol can be
between £10-£20. A forest I would be able to use is Stockton on the
Forest, I would not need permission to film at this forest, also it is not
far from york so transport will not cost too much.
I would also want my music video to be set within a park, I can do this in
a park within York. The only costs for this would be travel, but that
would not cost more than £20 because it will be within York. A park I
You need to identify locations and
plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks,
eg distance, access, cost, weather?
How will you manage this?
22. EQUIPMENT
The equipment I would need to film the music video would be a camera,
I could get this through hiring. The cost to hire a Canon EOS 5DS is £82
per day, so for a two day shoot it would cost £164. Link:
https://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/products/HAC00-01566-canon-
eos-5ds/
Some more equipment I would need is different lenses, some to change
the distance or how the image appears. I would also hire lenses, to hire
a zoom lens to fit with the camera (Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM) it
costs £45 per day, so for a two day shoot it would cost £90. Link:
https://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/products/HAC00-01954-canon-
ef-11-24mm-f4l-usm/
More equipment I would need is grip equipment's, such as a tripod. To
hire a tripod (Manfrotto Fluid Tripod) it costs £8 per day, which means
for a 2 day shoot it would cost £16. Link:
https://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/products/HAC00-00241-
manfrotto-fluid-tripod/
I would also need lighting, to hire a light (Litepanels Micro Pro) it would
cost £11.50 each day, so for a two day shoot it would cost £23. link:
https://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/products/HAC00-00360-
litepanels-micro-pro/
To go along with the light I would use a softbox (Manfrotto LYKOS LED
Softbox) this costs £2 to hire out for a day, for 2 days this would cost
£4. link: https://www.hireacamera.com/en-gb/products/HAC00-
02336-manfrotto-lykos-led-softbox/
What do you need? E.g.
equipment, resources? Mostly
from college, but who do you
need to speak to get this kit?
What is available? When?
Look at equipment hire places,
etc
23. FACILITIES
For my music video I will need access to a video studio with a green
screen, to hire out one it would cost £390 for a full day, and £270 for
a half day. When hiring the studio you get the use of their flash
heads, continuous lights and any backdrops available. I would not
need to hire the studio out for longer than one day, so the most
spent for this would be £390. Link:
http://www.westlondonstudio.co.uk/photo-studio-hire-book-now/
I would also need an editing room to be able to edit my music video,
I would also need an editor to help with the editing. To hire a room
and editor would cost £550 per day, included within this is the use of
an iMac, graphics card, Sony broadcast monitor and speakers, you
will also be able to use premier and multiple other editing programs.
The editing is supposed to be ½ in terms of how much recording to
editing, so if I record for 2 days I should have 4 days editing, this
means that the cost for 4 days would be £2200. That is above my
budget meaning I would probably not be able to use this room or use
it for less days, for instance only one day this is because the use of a
professional editor would help a lot and complete the rest of the
editing by myself. Link: http://www.slinkyproductions.co.uk/edit-
suite-hire/
If I were to edit the video myself I would have to buy the software,
this would cost £59.99. link:

jKUDsQ&id=20779&L=38&C=74&AffiliateID=91&pHash=52DoOfQm
Where will you edit your video? Do
you need any other specialist
facilities…?
24. PERSONNEL
CREW:
The main crew for my music video would be myself. As it is my
music video I am creating I will be available whenever is possible.
However I am not very good at camera work so I could get a
camera man to help film. To hire a camera man it costs £25 per
hour, I would need them for around 8 hours, so that would cost
£200. Link:
https://www.peopleperhour.com/freelancer/pete/cameraman-
director-of-photography/894414?referrer=freelancer
CAST:
For the cast of my music video I would need a dancer, to hire a
dancer it costs around £155 per day but tends to be higher for
more qualified dancers. Link:
http://www.alivenetwork.com/blogs/complete-guide-to-
booking.asp?id=253
For the rest of my cast I will probably use just my friends, they will
help me for free, however I would have to pay for their lunch. That
would cost £10 per person, so for 3 people it would cost £30 per
day.
CREW: What is you team? Who is in it? What
are each team members
strengths/weaknesses? When are they
available?
CAST: Do you need any external
performers? When are they available? Cost
implications? Will you have to feed them?
Transport them?
Other personnel? Is anyone else helping
you?
25. PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
I would not need any props within
my music video. However I will need
to have a costume, the costume
would be all black clothing. To buy 2
t-shirts for females at £6 each and 2
for men at £6 each, it would cost
£24 from ASOS. To buy some plain
black jeans, 2 for women at £25
each pair, and 2 pairs for men at
£20 per pair. So for 4 pairs it costs
£90. For the shoes I would need one
pair of dance trainers, they are
$24.95 which is£19.40 per pair, I
would need to buy two pairs one for
male and one for a female. I would
also need two pairs of plain black
trainers for the rest of the cast. The
cost for the mans pair is £28, and
the womans is £22.
26. CODES OF PRACTICE
AND REGULATION
A the song I am using is copyrighted I need to get permission
from the production company JYP entertainment to be able to
use the song within my music video or I could get into legal
trouble or the video could be removed due to copyright strikes.
To get permission I could get help from
http://www.prsformusic.com/users/businessesandliveevents/m
usicforbusinesses/Pages/default.aspx, the website helps you get
clearance for the use of music, films etc.
All of my actors are under the age of 18, so I am going to need
to get parental permission for each of them. I will have to also
get release forms from each of my actors declaring that I will be
allowed to release the video. These forms will be filled out
before the shooting of the video begins.
If I am filming within Stockton on the Forest there will be no
need for written consent as it is not private property. The same
goes for filming on the Knavesmire as that is also not private
27. FINANCE/PRODUCTION
COSTS
The likely cost of my product will be under £1800, this will give me a £200
contingency from the £2000 budget, the contingency is this because it is 10% of
the budget given, also the contingency is for if anything were to happen I would
have a backup. I researched how much certain things I wanted to hire were, I
found this quite difficult because many websites do not give an average price, so
I had to find other websites that had quite a high price also the process of
finding these websites was very time consuming. The fact that I found it difficult
to find them meant that my estimated prices may not be realistic as they differ
from company to company. I decided to give the cast £10 per day for food for
them, this means I had to set aside £45 for the cast as they will be filming for 1
and a half days. I also chose to buy costumes for the cast as they should all wear
similar clothes, the cost for the costumes is £157.40 overall. I have to put no
money towards the travel since the locations are all local. I worked out the total
costs of the things I would need to complete the project is £1465.39, this is
because the dance studio costs £80 for 4 hours and the other location is free to
film at. The equipment costs £273 to hire everything I need, and the facility will
cost £609.99 for everything I would need. I would also pay £345 for the
personnel for the filming, and the costume costs £157.40. The only problem I
foresee is that my cast may cancel, however I will ensure that will not happen by
choosing a filming times that everyone will have off.
28. OPTION 1
-For option one I would hire a dance studio for 4
hours, this is so I have the dance sections of my
video done first. This amount of time will allow me
to make sure I have many shots of the dance from
multiple angles and camera positions. For 4 hours
this will cost £80. I would also film on the
Knavesmire, this would only include travel cost,
however all my cast live within York so there
would be no travel costs. I would also hire out a
video studio for half a day, this will cost £270.
-For the equipment I would hire a canon 5DS for
two days, this would cost £164. I would also hire a
zoom lens for the two days of shooting, this would
cost £90. A tripod would got £16 for both of the
days and a light panel would cost £23. Overall this
would cost £293 for two days of shooting.
-For the facilities I would hire out a editing room
for two days, the cost would be £550 for one day
so for two it costs £1100. I would then have to
buy the software to edit the rest of the video
myself for £59.99.
-With the personnel I would hire a camera man,

but is also easy to transport as it is quite light, this will
cost £164 for the two days of shooting. I also decided to
hire a zoom lens for £90 over the two days, this is so the
close ups of the cast look better than if I did not use a lens
and just zoomed using the camera. I would also hire a
tripod at £16 for the two days, this is so I can get lots of
shots without them being shaky.
-For the facilities I would hire a editing suite for one day
this would cost £550, I decided to do this because the
room comes with an editor and that would help a lot when
editing the footage. I would then buy the editing software
for £59.99 so I can edit the rest of the footage myself.
-With the personnel I would hire a camera man for 12
hours, this would cover the full two days, the camera man
costs £25 per hour so for 12 hours it would cost £300. I
chose to hire a camera man because it would help to get
the shoot right quickly, and they would make the footage
look more professional. The cast will be my friends so I

the cast have got a clear

-For the location I am going to hire the dance studio
for 4 hours at the cost of £80, I chose to do this
because the price is not that much and the dance
scene would look best in a dance studio. I would also
film at the Knavesmire since it won’t cost anything
and it will be easy for my cast to get to without
having to pay for their travel.
30. FINAL BUDGET
BREAKDOWN
The budget we were given was £2000, we needed to keep £200 as contingency
for if anything were to go wrong you would have money saved over just incase.
For option One I went over the budget by £190.39, this means I would not even
have a contingency plan. With option Two I had £534.61 left over after I removed
all the things I would need.
If I were to choose one of the options I would follow it is option Two, this is
because it did not go over budget and I got to get all the things I wanted to get.
Provide a costs table for your
budget, if you have
considered more than one
cost option, provide
alternative final budgets and
state a preference with
justification for which option
you would choose.

33. PRE-
VISUALIZATION/CONCEP
T BOARDS
I want my music video to include lots of these kind of imagery shown
above. Some imagery I want to include are close-ups of the people
within my music video this is to show the emotion that I want to
convey within the video. I also want my video to have the same kind
of colours as in the pictures shown above, I want it to look dark and
the video is going to be in black and white, this is to visually show
the theme of the music video. The video is going to be in black and
white, similarly to the images shown above. I also want my video to
include lots of locations like shown, a forest type place, this is
because I want the video to be dramatic and that kind of scenery will
make it more so. I would like the dance scenes to be filmed within a
white room, this would contrast against the outfit the dancer will
wear (all black), this will also make the dancer the main focus of this
part of the video. For the dance part I also want to have one dancer,
this is so the viewer can focus on the moves of that one person and
will not get confused by there being to many dancers included within
the scene.
35. INTRO
The beginning of the song has 6 seconds where there is no
singing.
For this part I am going to show a man walking down a path.
Only their back is going to be shown and the camera is going
to be quite far behind them. This part of the video is going to
be in black and white.
In the song at 0.06 seconds a man says ‘So it’s me again….Why
you got to be like this?.....Forget it.’ this ends at 0.13.
This part is going to show the same man that was walking
saying this into a phone. The shot for this is going to be angled
so you can only see parts of his face, mainly his mouth.

English:

The verse begins almost immediately after the man speaks
in the intro, the start time is 0.15.
The first verse is going to show a man and woman fighting
this is to show what the music video is about.
While they fight the camera is going to change positions. For
the ‘If you do it’s good, if I do it’s good’ it is going to show
the man shouting close up to his face. This going to start at
0.15 and end at 0.18.
Then for the next line ‘How can you always say I’m wrong’
it’s going to show the woman far away pacing around the
room. Starting at 0.18 ending at 0.22.
The next line ‘You always win’ is going to show the man
stood in front of the woman, the mans back is going to be
shown and the woman sat down curled in on herself. The
camera is going to be quite far away from the scene so you
can see the woman behind clearly. This is going to start at
0.22 and end at 0.24.
When the line ‘Tears are the ultimate weapon’ is sung the
video is going to show the woman crying, the camera is

The second verse begins straight after the first
ends, at 0.29.
This verse is going to show lots of random
shots put together to show parts of the story of
the music video.
The first 4 lines ‘I was attracted to your confidence at first’, ‘But
every day I went down on my knees’, ‘You magnified even my
minor mistakes’ and ‘And pushed me to the edge of the cliff’ are
going to be showing the same imagery because the lines are quite
fast as they are a rap. The video is going to show the man walking
out of a door and walking to the wall of a house and hitting it. The
camera is first going to be far away to show the whole image, then
its going to be closer but still far away. Next the shot is going to
be close to his face. This part is going to start at 0.29 and end at
0.37.
The next two lines ‘Well I love you anyway,’ and ‘that’s why I put
up with you’ are also going to be the same part of video. The
video is going to show a woman going through a door and sliding
down the back of it, then the woman is going to curl up in on
herself. The camera is first going to be behind her when she goes

The first part of the chorus, until the
end of the line ‘Suddenly you become a
different person’ is going to show a
different video from the second part.
This part of the chorus starts at 0.45 an
ends at 1.08.
The first part is going to include
dancing. The camera shot for the first
couple lines, ‘Every day every night feel
like a fool’, ‘You gotta know’, ‘Why why
why are you’, ‘always mad mad mad at
me’ and ‘Can we go back to the way we
were’, is going to be far away from the
dancer so you can see the whole

it always becomes the right words’, ‘If
you do I can never win’ and ‘Suddenly
you become a different person’, the
shot is going to go between a close up
of the dancers feet or a more far away
view.
The second part of the chorus starting
at 1.09 and ending at 1.29, is going to
show a split screen of the man and
woman running, the camera is going to

After the last line of the chorus the 3rd verse begins
straight away.
This scene is going to be based on the woman. The
verse is split into two parts. The first part starts at
1.29 and ends at 1.36, the second part starts after
the first part and ends at 1.43.
For the first part the woman going to put her phone
down on her bedside table and she sits on her bed
head on her hands. Her phone is then going to show
that he is calling her, she reaches down to decline it.
Then she is going to lie back on the bed she is sat
on.
The next part she is going to be shown screaming
and getting off the bed. She will then throw the
furniture around the room. It will cut to her sat
amongst the ruined room.

The 4th verse starts at 1.44, the ending of this verse
blends into the beginning of the next chorus so there is
no full ending for the verse.
This verse is going to focus on the man. It is going to
show the man walking down a path, similarly to the
intro of the music video however the camera angle is
going to be the side of the man not the back. This is
going to be shown during the lines ‘I wish you wouldn’t
go too far but you just can’t stop’ and ‘Now I say in my
sleep, I’ll be good’.
At the word ‘good’ the man is going to sit on a bench
and get out his phone. Him walking is going to be
filmed from the side but once he stands near the bench
the camera view is going to switch to the front to show
him sitting down and getting his phone out of his
pocket. Then the camera shot is going to be rom
behind his shoulder so you can see the screen of the
phone. He is then going to try to call her, when he gets
declined he is going to curl up into himself. The angle
of this shot is going to be from the side.
The end part of the verse which is blended into the
chorus is going to switch between the man and woman

The first chorus is going to start by showing the footwork
part of the dance. The shot of the dancer is going to be
from a small distance away to show the whole dancer.
Then at 2.03 the shot is going to switch to show the man
and woman running again similarly to the second part of
the first chorus. This is going to be split screen and the
angle is going to change depending on what the angle of
the woman is for the man.
After the chorus a woman says ‘It’s up to you if you want
to break up…..I don’t care.....Just do what you want.....It
doesn’t matter to me.....I’ll just go to sleep.’ this starts at

54. LOCATION INFORMATION
One of my locations that I am going to film at is my house. The scenes I am
going to film there are the dance scenes (Pre chorus and Choruses), the
argument (Verse 1) and the girls section (Verse 3). I have asked my parents
permission to film within my house. My house is 74 Grange Garth. I am going to
film verse 1 in the living room, verse 3 in my bedroom and pre-chorus and
chorus in the dining room. The red parts on the floor plan are electrical
sockets, and the blue parts are windows/sources of light.
Downstairs Upstairs
55. LOCATION INFORMATION
My other location is the Millennium Bridge in York. With this location I will have
to tell someone that I am going to be filming there so that they know and I can
not get into any trouble about it, the location is not privately owned so I will
however not have to get permission to film there. This location is outdoors so
there are no power outlets and only natural lighting. As it is outdoors the
weather may affect my filming, if so I have written within my contingency plan
what I would do in the situation the weather is too bad to film.
56. RISK ASSESSMENT
Risk Control Measure
Slips, trips and falls while using equipment/looking
through viewfinders.
• Ensure you are familiar with your surroundings, any planned
movements and that the location is safe.
• Any camera movements should employ a spotter for the
camera operator, directing the movement safely.
Manual handling carrying equipment • Do not carry/move equipment beyond your comfort level.
• Request help when transporting equipment/share amongst
crew.
• Adhere to manual handling methods for carrying items.
Lost/stolen equipment • Do not leave any equipment unattended.
Electrical equipment, extension/data cables and
plugs- electric shock
• Do not touch any equipment that appears faulty and report it
to the tutor/technician.
Breaking of items around the house, such as
ornaments or glasses
• Move all important ornaments before filming
• If something were to break clean it straight away
• Keep people away from the broken glass
When in public people tripping or injuring
themselves while walking past the equipment
• Put a sign up saying that I am filming and to be wary
• Keep people away from the equipment
Risks while being near the river, such as falling in
etc
• Make sure that none of the cast or crew walk to close to the
river
• Have a spotter to make sure the camera worker doesn’t walk
in
The dancer injuring themselves • Make sure that they take the necessary preparations before
dancing
• Ensure that nothing will be too close to them while
performing so they don’t risk injury while dancing
The weather, if it is raining the equipment could be
damaged or the cast could slip and fall
• If it is raining do not take the equipment outside
• Make sure that the ground is not overly slippery while filming
58. PRODUCTION/FILMING
SCHEDULEFor the pre-production weeks (Week 1 and 2) the schedule is the same as the
‘Guidance Time’ slide
For the week of shooting, I am going to have two days of filming.
Day 1- I am going to first going to film the dance scenes, this is going to be done
at my house.
10am- I am going to have all the people needed to film the dance scenes come to the
location, this includes me, my mum and Jaime, the people should have come by
10:20. Once everyone turns up I am going to get the dancer to prepare to dance to
make sure that they don’t injure themselves. This will take approximately 10 minutes.
I will then set up the camera and make sure the shot is in the right angle etc, this will
take around 5 minutes.
The filming will then start at 10:35 am, the dancer will run through the dance with
the camera in front of them at a long distance shot. Once the dance has been run
through and filmed three times, I decided to film each run through this amount if
times so I ensure that I have the footage and that I make sure that it looks good, I am
going to move the camera to be in a close up of the dancers feet. The dancer is going
to repeat the run through another three times. After that I will move the camera so it
is in a small distance from her face and repeat the same amount of run through.
Once the run through with the camera in that position finishes I will move the camera
59. PRODUCTION/FILMING
SCHEDULEAt 2pm lunch will be over, so I will have the rest of the cast come over to my
house because that is the next filming location, the people I will need to come
over are Jaime, Tom, Jasmine and myself. I will give them until 2:20 pm to get
there. Then I will make sure their costume is correct and sort out if anything is
wrong with it, this will take about 10 minutes. After that I will set up the camera,
this will take approximately 5 minutes.
Filming for the footage for the first verse, second verse, third verse and second
part of the intro will begin at 2:35 pm. The first part I will film is the the man lip-
syncing for the intro, the shot for this part will be a front facing close up as he
says it. After I have filmed that part twice I will change the camera so it is
extremely close up to his mouth as he lip-syncs the line. The camera is then going
to be put on a side angle so you can see the side profile of the man, he is then
going to lip-sync the lines again.
The next part of the filming will begin at 3pm, this part is going to be for verse 1
of the song. The first part I am going to film is the first scene of the verse, this is
going to be the close up of the man shouting as if he is mid argument, this is
going to be a side facing close up of the man. Then I am going to change the shot
so it is front facing to the man and is close up to his mouth as he is shouting.
This part of filming will be finished at 3:30pm, and I will begin the next part of the
scene. This part is the woman pacing, the shot is going to be mid distance and
60. PRODUCTION/FILMING
SCHEDULEThe next part I will shoot is going to begin at 4pm. The man is going to stand in shot
but be out of focus and have the woman behind him in focus, the first shot is going to
be a long distance shot face on to the woman and behind the man. After that I will
change the shot to shot distance so you can see the woman up close.
We will then take a 20 minute break so nobody gets overly tired. After that the next part
of shooting will begin at 4:20pm, this will be the scene where the man walks out of the
door, the camera is going to be behind him in a long distance shot. I will then move the
camera so it is outside of the house next to the front door, the camera will be on a side
angle and a mid distance shot.
The next part I will shoot is for verse 2 is the scene of the woman going through a door
and sliding down it. The first shot is going to be mid distance behind her. Then the shot
is going to be a close up of her hand opening the door. The next shot I am going to
shoot is with the camera inside of the bedroom on a side angle of her sliding down the
doorway, this is going to be a mid distance shot. I will then shoot the same shot but
from a front angle.
After that part the next part of the shoot is going to start at 4:50 pm, the first shot is
going to be the woman putting her phone down on a side table and her sitting down on
the bed, the camera is going to be next to the bed and facing downwards at the phone
this is going to be long distance so you can see the whole scene. Then I will change the
shot so it is a close up of the phone being put down. I am then going to shoot a close
up of the phone ringing, the camera is going to be in the same position as when the
shot of the phone being put down is in. After that the next shot is a long distance shot
61. PRODUCTION/FILMING
SCHEDULEThat is the last scene shot of the day, so the shoot should end around 5:30pm.
Day 2- I am going to meet with the people I need at 10 am at the millennium
bridge, the people needed are Ethan, Tom, Jaime and Jasmine.
The first shoot will begin at 10:20 am, the part being filmed is the shots of the
man walking down the path, the camera is going to be behind him from mid shot,
then I will change the shot so it is a close up of the mans feet, then change it
again so it is a long shot of him walking. After this I will film the man sitting on
the bench, this will be shot from multiple angles. The next shot being filmed is
over his shoulder him calling the woman and being declined this will be a short
distance shot. Then the camera will be moved to be in front of him and he will curl
into himself, this will be a long distance shot.
The next part will begin at 11 am, this is the running scene. First I will shoot the
man running/fast walking at multiple different angles. I will do the same for the
woman. This should take approximately 1 hour for each person, meaning the
second day will finish at 1 pm.
After I will have 4 days to edit my footage.
