Insecurity Necessary
Security is one of the essential needs not only to an individual, but also to society. Everyone wants
to feel secure wherever they are regardless of the time. The presence of insecurity causes
unnecessary tension which might even lead to economic instability within a country. However, in
order for everyone to be secure, there are essential measures that have to be taken which some
people argue are extreme and unnecessary. After September 11, 2001, attacks in the U.S. by
terrorists, there were numerous changes that were advocated to ensure such an event does not occur
again. For instance, Americans were subjected to regular security checks and personal details
monitoring. Such measures, to some people, seem extreme as they appear to be violating people's
rights and privileges. However, the security measures that Americans have been subjected to are
essential, and people have to bear with them if they want to be secure. ... Show more content on

Furthermore, it does not cost anyone anything substantial to give a minute for them to be checked.
The one who is going to benefit from the security checks are the Americans who criticize security
officers when such an event occurs. Those who facilitate the insecurity are within the people and
therefore, it would be ironic to expect security officers to know them merely by looking at their
faces. Consequently, airports are one of the major routes that terrorists use to infiltrate the country
and penetrate dangerous weapons. Does it therefore mean that security officers should let anyone
enter and leave airports without being checked? Americans should be patient and support the
security measures put in airports and other places if indeed they care about their

Insecurity In Othello
Shakespeare's tragedy, Othello, reveals the contextual issues that pertain to the foible nature of
humanity, effectively demonstrating the social mores of the Elizabethan era. Shakespeare presents
aspect of jealousy, racial segregation in the Elizabethan society and the assumed promiscuity of
women as the intrinsic part of human nature which ultimately leads to the downfall of Othello.
The power of jealousy induced by Othello's insecurity of his relationship with Desdemona is an
evident factor leading to the death of Othello. Othello's initial undeniable love towards Desdemona
is demonstrated through hyperbole, "If it were now to die, 'Twere no be most happy", expressing his
delight towards seeing Desdemona, proclaiming that this is the happiest ... Show more content on

Venice was a city renowned for its courtesans, which resulted in the assumed infidelity of women.
Desdemona's true purity that contradicts the society's perception is suggested through the recurring
motif of "wedding sheets", when symbolises virginal purity. Hence, the visual imagery of blood–
stained wedding sheets at the end of the play is parallel to the demoralising of women in the
Venetian society due to the flawed perception towards them. The society's suspicion that all women
are promiscuous is highlighted through sexual innuendo, as Iago suggests, "Making beast with two
backs", implying that their love is nothing more than lust. Women were common objectified in the
Elizabethan society, as displayed through dehumanisation of Desdemona, "purchasing Desdemona",
alluding to the paying of courtesans, implying the promiscuity of Desdemona. Society's perception
towards women as such transforms The undesirable nature of promiscuous women further
contributes to Othello's action, as demonstrated through exclamation of Cassio, "I marry her! What!"
implying that Bianca is unsuitable for marriage, as she is a courtesan. Othello's initial perception of
her from pure to sexually promiscuous as demonstrated through the shift in the diction of Othello,
where "I love the gentle Desdemona" contrasts to the inflammatory tone, "cunning whore of
Venice", again

How Does Plath Use Of Personification
Plath uses the simple tree and flower as manifestations of desire. Personification is heavily used to
transform the tree and the flower from plants to people the narrator wants to become, and they are
also used to emphasize the traits the narrator desires. The tree is fruit–bearing, stable, and peaceful.
The narrator is upset that she lacks the tree's ability to bear fruit, and the fruit represents
achievement, and the lack of fruit represents the narrator's discomfort at lacking achievement. Plath
writes, "Sucking up minerals and motherly love / So that each March I may gleam into leaf," (l.3;
l.4) not only showing the emphasis personification creates, but the usage of the word "I" shows how
the narrator is constantly wishing to be the tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important pieces of punctuation are the periods at the end of select lines. Periods are used
to end thoughts, while commas at the end are used to indicate slight change in the thought. Using
periods as dividers, the poem is divided into seven sections, all different but reinforce the ideas of
insecurity, desire, isolation, and neglect. The first section, which is only line one, explains the
narrator's rejection of herself, which easily transitions to sections two and three. These two sections
describe what she wants to be, first with the narrator becoming them, and then her comparing herself
to them. Sections two and three explain the effect others have on insecurity because they represent
the idealized version of her. Section four details her isolation, neglect, and invisibility to them. The
setting of night, which represents darkness, offers a half–baked explanation to the narrator's
invisibility, however, the fact there is starlight shows that the trees and flowers are purposefully
ignoring her. With this invisibility, her feelings snowball into neglect and isolation. Section five is
similar to sections two and three; it is a repeat of her comparison to the trees and flowers. Section
six is a reinforcement of her insecurities, and her out of placeness. Section seven is a detailed
continuation of six, but the ending of section seven represents her insecurities and her neglect. Word
pairings such as "useful... finally" (l.19) and "touch me for one...have time for me" (l.20) clearly
demonstrate her hope that if she changes, she will be accepted by them. Plath's usage of end
punctuation creates an easy flowing cycle of insecurity; the insecurity is made known, the
justification behind it is shown; it is then reiterated; and the narrator finally finds peace in the
fantasy of being like the trees and the flowers. The constant

Insecurity In Elderly
Research on elderly nutritional outcomes is often found in geriatric medicine and nutrition literature.
This set of work is focused on the physiological relationship between deficiencies in specific
nutrients for the elderly. Often this work examines the role of food insecurity in nutrient intake

Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is a big problem, but to understand, decrease, and solve it some big questions need
to be asked, answered, and talked about. These questions include: Who does it affect and why?
What's happening locally to help alleviate the problem? And, what are the best solutions? This
hunger problem has been around too long and the time to solve it is now. MANNA, a local food
bank, is dedicated to solving food insecurity in Western North Carolina by keeping food pantries
supplied and ready to serve the population in need.
Need
Hunger and food insecurity are big problems in America and all around the world. To understand
food insecurity, one must know how it is defined. Food insecurity is defined by the United States
Department of Agriculture as "a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life."
(What 1) Hunger is not a new problem in America, and though the problem is still prevalent, the
food insecurity rate among most Americans has decreased in recent years because of economic
boosts (WorldHunger.org). Even though the economic boost has helped alleviate the overall
problem, the increased expectations for how people spend their money and live their lives as
consumers can also contribute to food insecurity. Some of the reasons that an individual or family
would be food insecure are car repairs, medical bills, loss of income or other emergencies.(Valentine

Final Assignment – Hunger and Food Insecurity Among the Elderly
Introduction:
Hunger and food insecurity has become a documented public policy that is not an inequality limited
only to developing countries, but is also apparent on different levels ranging from global, national
and local households. The federal definition of food insecurity is defined as the limited access to
adequate nutritionally safe foods at all times for an active, healthy life (USDA, 2006, p. 1). Food
security has become the essential element of health and well–being of a growing population of older
adults that is estimated to increase over the next decade and continue to rise in the following
decades. The majority of literature on food insecurity in the United States focuses on children and
single parent households, which is research that appropriately highlights children and low– income
families that are often the most food insecure in America. However, less in known about the plight
and potentially vulnerable populations of older ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Functional impairments of food insecurity in elderly adults were significantly linked with "low
income, low education, minority status, food stamps and social isolation" (Lee & Frongillo, 2000, p.
594). In certain areas of the United States dimensions of food insecurity are social and culturally
defined concerning what are acceptable food sources opposed to socially acceptable food sources,
which are sensitive to population subgroups such as ethnic, urban/rural, and age groups. Age related
factors increase the risk of biological nutritional deficiencies in older adults. The elderly that report
more food insecurity has significantly lower intakes of key foods and nutrients than those who have
sufficient food sources (Quandt, Arcury, McDonald, Bell, & Vitolins, 2001, p.

Insecurity In Othello
Othello essay
Insecurity is the dark void that everyone falls into, and get dragged in a certain way, slowly trying to
seize you apart and everyone who comes near it. So insecurity is in everyone, making everyone's
basic emotions such as sadness and jealousy. Insecurity can lead to suicide, and that topic represents
insecurity to get worse prevalent in teenagers in this era, so insecurity is critical to analyze, to
prevent it from getting worse, leading to negative thoughts like suicide. William Shakespeare's play
Othello shows that insecurity is dangerous because it can lead to manipulation and immorality.
So the play Othello shows that insecurity leads to manipulation. The play Othello reveals this when
Iago explains he hates Othello, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play Othello indicates this when Othello talks about Desdemona as a whore in scene five when
Othello commits suicide, "when you shall these unlucky deeds relate, speak of me as I am, nothing
extenuates." (5.2.400–401) This action is immoral because Othello killed Desdemona out of
suspicion, which has roots to the seeds of doubt planted on him by Iago in scene one. The seeds
represent insecurity on Othello put on by Iago, and those seeds become bigger and bigger, that is
what started Othello's suspicion. So the suspicion is started by insecurity since you are insecure
things such as being gullible, the insecure gets suspicious because you think that insecurity comes
from someone you know. Some people might say insecurity does not arouse suspicion, well people
become suspicious because the insecure will observe other people as a cause of their insecurity, and
that they have fewer faults than the insecure, this phenomenon leads to suspicion. The play Othello
shows why insecurity causes immorality in another scene when Othello calls Desdemona a whore in
act four, "I took you for that cunning whore of Venice." (4.2.104) This quote reveals immorality
because Desdemona explains she loves Cassio, but Desdemona is explaining Cassio as her "best
friend." In addition, Othello is angry because Othello essentially takes Iago's advice and sees that
Desdemona is flirting with Cassio. In the real world, this shows that you

Food Insecurity in Lake City
Food insecurity is an issue that is shared across the USA in both the homes of adults and adults with
children. Low food security is defined as a household avoids substantial disruptions using coping
strategies such as eating less variety, federal food programs, and food banks (US Department of
Agriculture 2015). Very low food security is defined as eating patterns disrupted and food intake
reduced due to lack of resources or money. The national low food insecurity in 2013 was 8.7% and
very low food was 5.6% making the total 14.3% (US Department of Agriculture 2015).

chronic diseases (Gundersen & Ziliak 2014). These households also had a higher prevalence of
untreated caries (Chi, Masterson, Carle, Manci, & Coldwell 2014). Although these government

Nutritional value of a meal is not always due insufficient funds. Other reasons are: not enough time

In Ivory Tower, a documentary analyzing the privatization of US universities, it is reported that
college tuition has increased over 1120% since 1978 and has become a "product" or "commodity"
that is increasing far more exponentially than any other good or service. In order to alleviate
decreased public funding, universities began increasing tuition and other student fees at
unprecedented rates. Furthermore, the hegemony that a college education is an absolute necessity
for a successful future resulted in large numbers of applicants to these universities. Paired together,
these factors contributed to US universities accepting record numbers of students while also failing
to accommodate these students with adequate resources. In particular, recent years have shown
significant increases of students from low–income families and diverse cultural backgrounds
attending US universities. However, the amount of financial aid and basic needs support for these
students has remained relatively stagnant (Watson et al. 2017). Without adequate support from their
respective institutions, many students find it difficult to obtain basic needs, like food and shelter,

In the story; "Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe" the main character Okonkwo has insecurities

the story Okonkwo would kill to demonstrate to his clan he was a warrior to his tribe mates.

statement can be further strengthened when Okonkwo collected heads. Okonkwo stormed into battle
for his tribe and decapitated his enemies. These heads showed that he was a warrior and not the

When it comes to the idea of family we think of unity and happiness not division and agony. The
average family we think of today is a mirage of stable households collectively happy. The father is
the head of the house, the foundation, the mother is the body, the frame and walls that binds it all
together and the children are the doors and windows that shine light into the house. my house was
not that mirage. Although being raised in a single parent household made me feel incomplete and
growing up as a teenager made me insecure, as a young adult I realized it was a stepping stone

Insecurity In Richard III Essay
Everyone knows the feeling of insecurity. It can cause us to do unexplainable things, some people
shut themselves out, and others experience strong emotions. All and all, everyone experiences it in a
unique way. In Richard III, Richard's own insecurity motivates his actions. The insults and verbal
abuse that's directed to him regarding his deformity causes him to take evil out back on others. His
use of charisma and confidence to win over women in the text is influenced by his insecurities.
Lastly, he turns to villainy as a distraction from deeper problems relating to his self confidence
issues.
Richard is a victim of bullying throughout the play, and this causes him to do harmful things to
others. His deformity is something that he is very insecure about, and when characters in the play
insult him, it leads to him getting revenge on them. Anne, when Richard is talking to her as a
potential love interest, insults him, "Blush, blush, thou lump of deformity" (1.2.58). As Richard is
trying to be charming, Anne strikes his insecurity, which upsets him, and causes him to hurt her
later. Queen Margaret calls Richard names as well, "Thou elvish–marked, abortive, rooting hog"
(1.3.228). This is especially hurtful to Richard, because he is trying to be especially desirable to win
over her daughter, yet he is still called rude names. Later in the play, Richard implies that he is going
to kill Anne, "Come hither; Catesby. Rumor it abroad / That Anne my wife is very grievous sick; / I
will take order for keeping close"(4.2.50–52). This is awfully suspicious and implying that he is
going to kill her, which is his revenge for her calling him a lump of deformity, as well as allowing
him to proceed in his plans to take the throne. He is insecure about the insults, but he still tries his
best to be kind to the women in the play.
His use of charisma to allure women is rooted in his insecurities. All his life he has been bullied and
called names, and so he tries to use charm to win over the women in the play. His confidence is
shocking considering his insecurity. In an attempt to seduce Anne, he compliments her, "Your beauty
was the cause of that effect, / Your beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep" (1.2.124–125). Here,

Body
Why are women so insecure?
Women are insecure for several reasons. We are probably insecure for a lot of the same reasons men
are.
Some insecurities stem from instances from our childhood which can include bullying.
– Not just daughters, but all children usually seek affirmation and approval growing up. If they
didn't get such things or if someone was always critical of them they will carry it with them through
their adult life, often causing many insecurities. 2. A lot of our insecurities can stem from our
personal/intimate relationships.
– Whether we are broken up with or someone we care about quits showing interest in us, we
immediately become insecure, often blaming ourselves for not being the reason things worked out.
There are even times the other person points things out that will stick with us and also make us
insecure. 3. The biggest reason we can be incredibly insecure at times is because of the media's
standards of beauty.
–A woman's biggest hindrance in gaining and sustaining some self–confidence is the standard of
beauty that the media constantly bombards us with. According to the media, a woman is considered
"beautiful" when she's young, skinny, with clear skin, a perfect white smile, lustrous locks, and an
enviable body. Most regular everyday people won't always have

Although I was born during a prospering era of the 1900s, full of innovations and new ideas, my

Instead, I told myself that my aunt did not like me and that I was an outsider or an "extra" in the

This feeling of being unwanted along with the feeling of insecurity, caused by the financial struggles

Insecure love is a love that sees no future. In Shakespeare's Hamlet, Prince of Denmark Ophelia and
Hamlet's love falls victim to their own insecurities and therefore drastically fails. The relationship
that ensues between Ophelia and Hamlet is complicated and questioned continuously in modern day
analysis of the play. Their relationship proves to be important to the story in many different ways,
including how it affects the characters as individuals throughout the play. Shakespeare's use of
character development, the effects of grief, and an overall theme of insecure love in their
relationship further contributes to the meaning of the play as a whole.

Nonetheless, what drives their personal destruction also highly contrasts resulting in their

diverse completely. In the murder of King Hamlet, the setting of the dark forest contributes to its
eerie and hurried tone. This is clearly executed in (one of many scary ghost quotes). As the ghost of
King Hamlet speaks, he beckons on Hamlet to seek revenge sealing Hamlet's soon spiral of anger.
This anger Hamlet then uses as an excuse for nearly all of his actions in the play, disregarding the
feelings of Ophelia many of times consistently. This careless attitude Hamlet displays is found in
(Not the king quote). As Hamlet detaches himself from being a murderer, Ophelia detaches herself
from the world surrounding her. Ophelia's father's murder was a mere mistake that was brushed
over, contributing to her more detached view of grief. This behaviour is proven throughout the play
as well; Hamlet furthermore dismissing his crude actions while Ophelia internally self–destructs.
Despite this, the Ophelia that is portrayed by the end of the play is a completely new independent

Food Insecurity and its Ongoing Repercussions
Record–high levels of food inequality are being felt most prominently in the world's cities. Since the
year 2000, New York City food costs have increased by 59 percent, while the average income of
working adults has only increased by 17 percent. (Breggin 1) rising food costs and lack of food
availability in urban areas has created effects that are felt by millions of people around the world.
The USDA defines Food insecurity as a household–level economic and social condition of limited
or uncertain access to adequate food, and it is plaguing our nation. Characterized by inability to find
healthy food and not having enough to sustain a household are problems that an estimated 12.3 % of
American households experience regularly (USDA 1).chart food sec..png
Because of limited economic resources, many food–insecure families rely on low–cost, low
nutrient–dense food, sacrificing quality and nutrition in order to provide enough food to avoid the
pangs of hunger that they otherwise could not avoid. Low–income households purchase fewer fruits
and vegetables (Darmon), and the largest food category purchased is"other foods"–frozen or
prepared meals, canned and packaged foods, condiments and seasonings, sugar and other sweets,
and fats and oils. They found that few Americans met dietary recommendations for total fruits and
individuals from middle and low–income households have significantly lower intakes of fruits. For

Food Insecurity – A Public Health Issue The day before Thanksgiving I left work thinking about all
the things I still needed to do for the holiday such as picking up take–out so I wouldn't have to cook
anything that night, making one more trip to the store, and wondering if I should buy another
dessert. It started raining, and I was hoping it would stop before I had to park at the grocery store,
and the store wouldn't be too crowded. When I got to my first destination of the night, my thoughts
stopped, and I realized that my worries were pretty superficial. I had just arrived for my volunteer
shift at the food pantry at Rosie's Place, a Shelter and resource center for women in Boston. There I
remembered just what being thankful was all about. The women who were picking up their
groceries that night didn't have my superficial worries, they had to worry about how to make food
stretch from one check to the next. They had to worry about carrying multiple heavy bags of food in
the rain, on a crowed bus and through neighborhoods that are not safe in the daylight, never mind at
night. These women and their families are among the many in the country that are food insecure.
Who are the poor and food insecure? Food insecurity is defined as "limited or uncertain availability
of nutritionally adequate and safe food or limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable food in
socially acceptable ways" (Burke, M.P, Martini, L.H., Cayir, E., Hartline–Grafton, H. L., Meade,

the number of children who go hungry compared to the overall rate. The rate of child hunger is

Insecurities In Othello
You act like it's you against the world, but it's really just you against yourself (Thingswesay). In the
play Othello by William Shakespeare, Iago showcases various insecurities produced by personal and
sexual issues that upbring his duplicitous character. These insecurities play a key role in the
development of the play and the making of Othello's catastrophe. Iago is an unreliable man that is
spurred by his own particular insecurities. From the beginning of the play, Iago is left in displeasure
since he was incapable of achieving his endeavour to wind up as a lieutenant and his physical
appearance, both in which Cassio has a critical contribution. In any case, what makes Iago desirous
to a great degree is the way that Othello elevates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fears the exposure of his actual character and wants to execute his plan by keeping other
individuals believing that he is an honest and a trustworthy man. Firstly, Iago undermines Emilia not
to say another word in regards to the handkerchief that he utilizes as a major aspect of the
arrangement to devastate Othello. He advises Emilia to "Be wise and get you home." (Act 5.2.221).
Emilia disagrees with what Iago says and soon after, Iago draws his sword. This shows Iago really
thinks about his personality and notoriety, his trepidation of presentation is fierce to the point that it
drives him to execute his own particular wife. Also, there is not a single line written in the play,
which uncovers Iago presenting his reality to someone else. In spite of the fact that everybody
makes sense of Iago's two–sided personality towards the end of the play, despite everything he
doesn't have the quality to uncover his actual two– sided character or translate why he has done such
offensive deeds. When Othello demands Iago for a reasoning behind his actions, he responds back
saying, "Demand me nothing; what you know, you know. / From this time forth I never will speak
word" (Act 5.2.300–301). Iago's instability of character is powerful to the point that is prohibits him
to talk up and give a sensible reaction to Othello regarding why he has done such malevolence
activities. Identity, as well as reputation, is what a man is acknowledged for, a wide range of wrong
decisions will destroy this part of Iago

Women will often turn to dieting, exercising, eating disorders, and cosmetic surgery in order to

are advertisements telling us what it means to be desirable. Personally, the saddest part of this sexist
marketing is it's no longer about women fitting into a man's perception of beauty but their
perception has become our reality. We have accepted that we are deficient, flawed and not pretty

We are constantly receiving mixed messages about true beauty. Is it in the eye of the beholder? Do

Nutrition Insecurity
According to the World Health Organization, malnutrition is shortages, excesses or disproportions in
a person's intake of nutrients. It could also be referred to as when the body does not have adequate
nutrients in food due to health problems such as diarrhea. This is a big issue developing nations
where lack of clean water and poor sanitation are common. Millions of children are affected by
poverty all over the world, and malnutrition has become a serious problem for many communities
(Finn, 2014). In developing nations, many children do not have access to the well–balanced,
nutritious food with the nutrients they need to develop properly. As a result, malnutrition can lead to
health problems and even death. Food insecurity has currently become the main issue with
malnutrition which is an indicator of either overnutrition or undernutrition especially among the
vulnerable group of people (Ihab, A., Rohana, A., & Manan, W, 2015). Global forces could
contribute to malnutrition such as environmental damage, advancement of technology,
transportation of goods, multinational corporation, lack of health information and social awareness
that can affect any child at any point in time as it remains a relevant risk factor for illness as well as
death around the world (Muller & Krawinkel, 2005). Infant and children who experience nutrition
insecurity may experience developmental delays, illness, and academic challenges (Finn, 2004).
Therefore, it is important for the policymakers a well

The utilization of food is affected by poverty and climate change. If the families are already at or

Chambers discusses the many adaptations of Williams Shakespeare's Othello. Othello is just one
example of a what Shakespeare is known for, writing plays that deals with themes that are uniquely
human and extend beyond any geographical location or time period. Chambers writes about how
during Shakespeare's time, there was great hostility towards "the great number of Negroes and

While Othello once came across as loving and extremely affectionate towards Desdemona, when his
jealousy takes over, he becomes blinded by rage. This anger finally shows itself to her in Act 4, after
he has already made the decision to kill her. When they are speaking with Ludovico and he claims "I
think, they do command him home/Deputing Cassio in his government", Desdemona replies "Trust
me, I am glad on't" (IV.i.263–264;265). Othello, becoming so frustrated by what he believes her to
be implying, strikes her and calls her a devil. Then, in her shock and confusion, Desdemona meekly
leaves, claiming she doesn't want to offend him. Desdemona, though she is confused as to the
reasoning, believes that she must have done something wrong for him to treat her so. This reaction
lines up strongly with the reaction of abuse victims to inter–partner violence. It's common for them
to blame themselves for their spouses destructive behavior, even when it's obviously just an act of
cruelty and domination. This sense of power and control that Othello feels he has to assert over
Desdemona escalates to the point that he feels justified it is his right to take her life. This belief
stems from growing up in a world where women are considered a man's property, in conjunction
with his own desensitization to violence and death from his time at

Water and food insecurity are one in the same problem
Student ID: 752528
Water and food insecurity is a worldwide issue that should be concerned in 21 century. "Countries
Near East and North Africa are facing the water scarcity and food security right now. The
availability of fresh water is expected to drop by 50 % by the year 2050, said FAO" (Impact of water
scarcity on food security a priority for Near East and North Africa meeting, 2014) There are some
similarities in the causes of and responses to food and water insecurity. However, there are also
some differences between the cause and effect of water insecurity and food insecurity. Similarities
and differences will be discussed in this essay.
Water is essential to food security. Food production to a great extend is depending on water. Water
can be a great use of irrigation to the agriculture. Not only for the food crop, non–food crop like
cotton and rubber also count on water in order for its growth. About 70% of freshwater are now for
irrigation use. "According to the united nations, 1.2 billion people already live in areas experiencing
a lack of physical access to water." (purt, 2013)
The uneven distribution of water is a key factor that causes water scarcity. For example in china,
there are more water resources in south than north. While the underground water becomes scarce,
the crop irrigation is all relay on rainfall. An unstable varies amount of rainfall can cause water
scarcity, hence decrease in food

Insecurity In Othello
In William Shakespeare's tragedy Othello, there is a double standard for race focused mainly on the
main protagonists Othello and Desdemona. There is a drastic contrast between the way Othello is
held with high esteem politically yet is ridiculed when brought into a romantic setting. The disdain
that is brought upon Othello is one of the contributing factors for his spiral into a jealous rage and
his own downfall. Perhaps one of the primary instances of a character presenting Othello as a
negative character is when Brabantio discovers that Othello and Desdemona are married in Act I,
Scene 3; it is his speech beginning with "a maiden never so bold..." that plants the seed of insecurity

Othello not only served in the army but was a famous general despite his race, showing that there
was nothing segregating him in that aspect. That entire mood shifts when Brabantio finds out about
the secret marriage, wrenching Othello down from someone he bestowed trust in to someone
beneath his status. In Brabantio's speech renouncing the possibility that Desdemona could choose to
love Othello in her right mind he accuses their relationship of being "against all rules of nature",
opening a broader concept regarding interracial relationships (Shakespeare I.iii.442). Brabantio
takes a similar stance a few lines earlier in his impassioned speech when he emphasizes the way
Desdemona chose Othello "in spite of nature, of years, of country, credit, everything" (Shakespeare
I.iii.437–38). Not only does Brabantio mourn for the damage this union inflicts upon their
reputation, but he also asserts that the possibility of their interracial relationship would be against
the laws of nature, something completely different from the praise Othello received as a general.
While Brabantio's dramatization of his expectations for the marriage's consequences does reveal his
own viewpoint on the double standard of race, it also unknowingly reveals Desdemona's stance as

School lunches are often unsung heroes of many modern American households. Frequently
overlooked and disregarded because of their stigma, school lunches are a key ingredient that may
help make the world a better place. Unknowingly, great numbers of individuals in our communities
deal with food insecurities every day of their lives. It baffles me that in an advanced society many
people do not have the resources to provide food for themselves or their families. Until it affected
me personally, I was unaware nor passionate about the struggles of food insecurity. My passion for
solving food insecurity in my local community has led me to gain both experience and leadership
through understanding and advocating for those around me. Near the beginning of this school year,
my friend Bianca frequently asked me, "Are you going to finish that?" Initially I suggested that she

reflecting, I realized that Bianca suffered from the plight of food insecurity. I was hit with a
whirlwind of emotions... how could someone that I know not have the resources to feed herself.
From that moment forward, I began packing a little extra each day. For the remainder of the school
year, I always shared my food with her to ensure that having something to eat was not a concern for
her. This daily ritual made me interested in researching whether others dealt with this same issue.

Food Insecurity Essay
Listening to conversations about food on campus, I found that there was a common theme last year:
it was difficult to find healthy food on campus. I think we'll find that to be less of the case this year,
especially with N–Rich recently opening in the Union, and a new service called Instacart that will
deliver groceries to campus. However, despite an expanded variety of options to purchase fresh
fruits and vegetables, the problem of food insecurity has hardly been addressed. Food insecurity is
the "state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food,"
according to the Oxford Dictionary. It is a widespread problem on college campuses across the
nation. While food insecurity only impacts 14% of households, 48% of college students claim to be
food insecure. This problem disproportionately impacts first generation college students, students of
color, and students who need financial aid, as noted by the National Student Campaign Against
Hunger and Homelessness. Today, these students still have few resources to address this problem.
Last year, I was excited to see N–Rich open. I toured inside and out, and saw that it increased my
options to buy healthy food on campus. Though there's valid argument that N–Rich's variety is
small, for the first time in my college career, I did not have to travel over a mile to buy an onion. N–
Rich opens up options for students with more meal plan money than they need. But for students who

Food Insecurity Among The Aging Population
In the last five years there has been a growth in the level of food insecurity among the aging
population. In 2012 15.3% of the aging faced a threat of food insecurity. Further from 2001 to 2012
there was a 44% increase in the aging population experiencing hunger (Ziliak & Gundersen, 2013).
In 2008 8.1% of households with an elderly individual living in the residence were food insecure,
and 8.8% of the elderly living alone were food insecure (Coleman–Jenson, Nord, Andrews, &

food insecurity among households with the elderly present and households of the elderly living
alone (Coleman–Jenson, Nord, Andrews, & Carlson, 2011; Coleman–Jensen, Nord, & Singh; 2012,

Gregory, & Singh, 2014; Ziliak & Gundersen, 2014). Research has shown food insecurity leads to
the reduction of nutritionally sufficient diets and poorer health status, thus this growth in food
insecurity for the elderly is troubling as the elderly are already at risk for poor health outcomes (Lee
& Frongillo, 2001; Stuff, et al., 2004).
Heflin, Corcoran, & Siefert examine variation in food insecurity among low–income populations
and suggest food insecurity operates through three mechanisms: (1) individual constraints on coping
abilities, (2) demands, and (3) resources (2007). A significant body of literature on food security

Insecurity Necessary

  • 1. Insecurity Necessary Security is one of the essential needs not only to an individual, but also to society. Everyone wants to feel secure wherever they are regardless of the time. The presence of insecurity causes unnecessary tension which might even lead to economic instability within a country. However, in order for everyone to be secure, there are essential measures that have to be taken which some people argue are extreme and unnecessary. After September 11, 2001, attacks in the U.S. by terrorists, there were numerous changes that were advocated to ensure such an event does not occur again. For instance, Americans were subjected to regular security checks and personal details monitoring. Such measures, to some people, seem extreme as they appear to be violating people's rights and privileges. However, the security measures that Americans have been subjected to are essential, and people have to bear with them if they want to be secure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, it does not cost anyone anything substantial to give a minute for them to be checked. The one who is going to benefit from the security checks are the Americans who criticize security officers when such an event occurs. Those who facilitate the insecurity are within the people and therefore, it would be ironic to expect security officers to know them merely by looking at their faces. Consequently, airports are one of the major routes that terrorists use to infiltrate the country and penetrate dangerous weapons. Does it therefore mean that security officers should let anyone enter and leave airports without being checked? Americans should be patient and support the security measures put in airports and other places if indeed they care about their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Insecurity In Othello Shakespeare's tragedy, Othello, reveals the contextual issues that pertain to the foible nature of humanity, effectively demonstrating the social mores of the Elizabethan era. Shakespeare presents aspect of jealousy, racial segregation in the Elizabethan society and the assumed promiscuity of women as the intrinsic part of human nature which ultimately leads to the downfall of Othello. The power of jealousy induced by Othello's insecurity of his relationship with Desdemona is an evident factor leading to the death of Othello. Othello's initial undeniable love towards Desdemona is demonstrated through hyperbole, "If it were now to die, 'Twere no be most happy", expressing his delight towards seeing Desdemona, proclaiming that this is the happiest ... Desdemona's true purity that contradicts the society's perception is suggested through the recurring motif of "wedding sheets", when symbolises virginal purity. Hence, the visual imagery of blood– stained wedding sheets at the end of the play is parallel to the demoralising of women in the Venetian society due to the flawed perception towards them. The society's suspicion that all women are promiscuous is highlighted through sexual innuendo, as Iago suggests, "Making beast with two backs", implying that their love is nothing more than lust. Women were common objectified in the Elizabethan society, as displayed through dehumanisation of Desdemona, "purchasing Desdemona", alluding to the paying of courtesans, implying the promiscuity of Desdemona. Society's perception towards women as such transforms The undesirable nature of promiscuous women further contributes to Othello's action, as demonstrated through exclamation of Cassio, "I marry her! What!" implying that Bianca is unsuitable for marriage, as she is a courtesan. Othello's initial perception of her from pure to sexually promiscuous as demonstrated through the shift in the diction of Othello, where "I love the gentle Desdemona" contrasts to the inflammatory tone, "cunning whore of Venice", again ... • 5. How Does Plath Use Of Personification Plath uses the simple tree and flower as manifestations of desire. Personification is heavily used to transform the tree and the flower from plants to people the narrator wants to become, and they are also used to emphasize the traits the narrator desires. The tree is fruit–bearing, stable, and peaceful. The narrator is upset that she lacks the tree's ability to bear fruit, and the fruit represents achievement, and the lack of fruit represents the narrator's discomfort at lacking achievement. Plath writes, "Sucking up minerals and motherly love / So that each March I may gleam into leaf," (l.3; l.4) not only showing the emphasis personification creates, but the usage of the word "I" shows how the narrator is constantly wishing to be the tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most important pieces of punctuation are the periods at the end of select lines. Periods are used to end thoughts, while commas at the end are used to indicate slight change in the thought. Using periods as dividers, the poem is divided into seven sections, all different but reinforce the ideas of insecurity, desire, isolation, and neglect. The first section, which is only line one, explains the narrator's rejection of herself, which easily transitions to sections two and three. These two sections describe what she wants to be, first with the narrator becoming them, and then her comparing herself to them. Sections two and three explain the effect others have on insecurity because they represent the idealized version of her. Section four details her isolation, neglect, and invisibility to them. The setting of night, which represents darkness, offers a half–baked explanation to the narrator's invisibility, however, the fact there is starlight shows that the trees and flowers are purposefully ignoring her. With this invisibility, her feelings snowball into neglect and isolation. Section five is similar to sections two and three; it is a repeat of her comparison to the trees and flowers. Section six is a reinforcement of her insecurities, and her out of placeness. Section seven is a detailed continuation of six, but the ending of section seven represents her insecurities and her neglect. Word pairings such as "useful... finally" (l.19) and "touch me for one...have time for me" (l.20) clearly demonstrate her hope that if she changes, she will be accepted by them. Plath's usage of end punctuation creates an easy flowing cycle of insecurity; the insecurity is made known, the justification behind it is shown; it is then reiterated; and the narrator finally finds peace in the fantasy of being like the trees and the flowers. • 9. Food Insecurity Food insecurity is a big problem, but to understand, decrease, and solve it some big questions need to be asked, answered, and talked about. These questions include: Who does it affect and why? What's happening locally to help alleviate the problem? And, what are the best solutions? This hunger problem has been around too long and the time to solve it is now. MANNA, a local food bank, is dedicated to solving food insecurity in Western North Carolina by keeping food pantries supplied and ready to serve the population in need. Need Hunger and food insecurity are big problems in America and all around the world. To understand food insecurity, one must know how it is defined. Food insecurity is defined by the United States Department of Agriculture as "a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life." (What 1) Hunger is not a new problem in America, and though the problem is still prevalent, the food insecurity rate among most Americans has decreased in recent years because of economic boosts (WorldHunger.org). Even though the economic boost has helped alleviate the overall problem, the increased expectations for how people spend their money and live their lives as consumers can also contribute to food insecurity. Some of the reasons that an individual or family would be food insecure are car repairs, medical bills, loss of income or other emergencies.(Valentine 1) Food insecurity can cause health problems for children that don't get proper nourishment and ... • 11. Food Insecurity Final Assignment – Hunger and Food Insecurity Among the Elderly Introduction: Hunger and food insecurity has become a documented public policy that is not an inequality limited only to developing countries, but is also apparent on different levels ranging from global, national and local households. The federal definition of food insecurity is defined as the limited access to adequate nutritionally safe foods at all times for an active, healthy life (USDA, 2006, p. 1). Food security has become the essential element of health and well–being of a growing population of older adults that is estimated to increase over the next decade and continue to rise in the following decades. The majority of literature on food insecurity in the United States focuses on children and single parent households, which is research that appropriately highlights children and low– income families that are often the most food insecure in America. Functional impairments of food insecurity in elderly adults were significantly linked with "low income, low education, minority status, food stamps and social isolation" (Lee & Frongillo, 2000, p. 594). Age related factors increase the risk of biological nutritional deficiencies in older adults. So insecurity is in everyone, making everyone's basic emotions such as sadness and jealousy. Insecurity can lead to suicide, and that topic represents insecurity to get worse prevalent in teenagers in this era, so insecurity is critical to analyze, to prevent it from getting worse, leading to negative thoughts like suicide. William Shakespeare's play Othello shows that insecurity is dangerous because it can lead to manipulation and immorality. So the play Othello shows that insecurity leads to manipulation. The play Othello indicates this when Othello talks about Desdemona as a whore in scene five when Othello commits suicide, "when you shall these unlucky deeds relate, speak of me as I am, nothing extenuates." (5.2.400–401) This action is immoral because Othello killed Desdemona out of suspicion, which has roots to the seeds of doubt planted on him by Iago in scene one. The seeds represent insecurity on Othello put on by Iago, and those seeds become bigger and bigger, that is what started Othello's suspicion. So the suspicion is started by insecurity since you are insecure things such as being gullible, the insecure gets suspicious because you think that insecurity comes from someone you know. Some people might say insecurity does not arouse suspicion, well people become suspicious because the insecure will observe other people as a cause of their insecurity, and that they have fewer faults than the insecure, this phenomenon leads to suspicion. The play Othello shows why insecurity causes immorality in another scene when Othello calls Desdemona a whore in act four, "I took you for that cunning whore of Venice." (4.2.104) This quote reveals immorality because Desdemona explains she loves Cassio, but Desdemona is explaining Cassio as her "best friend." In addition, Othello is angry because Othello essentially takes Iago's advice and sees that Desdemona is flirting with Cassio. In the real world, this shows that you ... Low food security is defined as a household avoids substantial disruptions using coping strategies such as eating less variety, federal food programs, and food banks (US Department of Agriculture 2015). Very low food security is defined as eating patterns disrupted and food intake reduced due to lack of resources or money. The national low food insecurity in 2013 was 8.7% and very low food was 5.6% making the total 14.3% (US Department of Agriculture 2015). Food Insecurity With rises in the cost of attendance and decreased state–funding throughout American universities, the cliché of the "broke and starving" college student has never been more relevant. Despite its humorous origins, this cliché is the lived reality for the 42% of students in the University of California (UC) system who face constant food insecurity (Martinez et al. 2016). At a large research institution like UC San Diego, students' main priority is to excel academically and to obtain a degree. In Ivory Tower, a documentary analyzing the privatization of US universities, it is reported that college tuition has increased over 1120% since 1978 and has become a "product" or "commodity" that is increasing far more exponentially than any other good or service. In order to alleviate decreased public funding, universities began increasing tuition and other student fees at unprecedented rates. Furthermore, the hegemony that a college education is an absolute necessity for a successful future resulted in large numbers of applicants to these universities. Paired together, these factors contributed to US universities accepting record numbers of students while also failing to accommodate these students with adequate resources. In particular, recent years have shown significant increases of students from low–income families and diverse cultural backgrounds attending US universities. However, the amount of financial aid and basic needs support for these students has remained relatively stagnant (Watson et al. 2017). • 25. Insecurity In Richard III Essay Everyone knows the feeling of insecurity. It can cause us to do unexplainable things, some people shut themselves out, and others experience strong emotions. All and all, everyone experiences it in a unique way. In Richard III, Richard's own insecurity motivates his actions. The insults and verbal abuse that's directed to him regarding his deformity causes him to take evil out back on others. His use of charisma and confidence to win over women in the text is influenced by his insecurities. Lastly, he turns to villainy as a distraction from deeper problems relating to his self confidence issues. Richard is a victim of bullying throughout the play, and this causes him to do harmful things to others. His deformity is something that he is very insecure about, and when characters in the play insult him, it leads to him getting revenge on them. Anne, when Richard is talking to her as a potential love interest, insults him, "Blush, blush, thou lump of deformity" (1.2.58). As Richard is trying to be charming, Anne strikes his insecurity, which upsets him, and causes him to hurt her later. Queen Margaret calls Richard names as well, "Thou elvish–marked, abortive, rooting hog" (1.3.228). This is especially hurtful to Richard, because he is trying to be especially desirable to win over her daughter, yet he is still called rude names. Later in the play, Richard implies that he is going to kill Anne, "Come hither; Catesby. Rumor it abroad / That Anne my wife is very grievous sick; / I will take order for keeping close"(4.2.50–52). This is awfully suspicious and implying that he is going to kill her, which is his revenge for her calling him a lump of deformity, as well as allowing him to proceed in his plans to take the throne. He is insecure about the insults, but he still tries his best to be kind to the women in the play. His use of charisma to allure women is rooted in his insecurities. All his life he has been bullied and called names, and so he tries to use charm to win over the women in the play. His confidence is shocking considering his insecurity. Examples Of Insecurity Although I was born during a prospering era of the 1900s, full of innovations and new ideas, my family, that had just migrated from China, continued to follow some old beliefs. When I was a child, I had always remembered my mother telling me that when she was giving birth to me my aunt was banging on the door trying to stop my mother from giving birth to another daughter. My mother never got along with my aunt, but I never questioned the how reliable what my mother had told me. Instead, I told myself that my aunt did not like me and that I was an outsider or an "extra" in the family since I was already the third daughter my mom had. This feeling of being unwanted along with the feeling of insecurity, caused by the financial struggles my family, as the first generation, had while trying to start a life in a completely different country, pressured my true personality. I began to talk less, thinking that it would help take some burden off my parent's shoulders. These feelings completely endowed my childhood. Food Insecurity Food Insecurity – A Public Health Issue The day before Thanksgiving I left work thinking about all the things I still needed to do for the holiday such as picking up take–out so I wouldn't have to cook anything that night, making one more trip to the store, and wondering if I should buy another dessert. It started raining, and I was hoping it would stop before I had to park at the grocery store, and the store wouldn't be too crowded. When I got to my first destination of the night, my thoughts stopped, and I realized that my worries were pretty superficial. I had just arrived for my volunteer shift at the food pantry at Rosie's Place, a Shelter and resource center for women in Boston. There I remembered just what being thankful was all about. The women who were picking up their groceries that night didn't have my superficial worries, they had to worry about how to make food stretch from one check to the next. They had to worry about carrying multiple heavy bags of food in the rain, on a crowed bus and through neighborhoods that are not safe in the daylight, never mind at night. These women and their families are among the many in the country that are food insecure. Who are the poor and food insecure? He advises Emilia to "Be wise and get you home." (Act 5.2.221). Emilia disagrees with what Iago says and soon after, Iago draws his sword. Not only for the food crop, non–food crop like cotton and rubber also count on water in order for its growth. About 70% of freshwater are now for irrigation use. "According to the united nations, 1.2 billion people already live in areas experiencing a lack of physical access to water." (purt, 2013) The uneven distribution of water is a key factor that causes water scarcity. For example in china, there are more water resources in south than north. While the underground water becomes scarce, the crop irrigation is all relay on rainfall. An unstable varies amount of rainfall can cause water scarcity, hence decrease in food ... • 65. Stella's Insecurity Stella and Miles had a rather unhealthy relationship. They were having many issues that deep down they knew would never be resolved. Both were dealing with insecurities about themselves and about each other; Stella's insecurity was evident in her pursuit of other men's attention while Miles' was evident from the affairs he had with other women. However despite all these issues that they were dealing with, they still claimed they loved each other. Though it seems as if the love that existed between them was purely a delusion. Perhaps Stella did love his husband and perhaps the reason behind her insecurities was due to the lack of attention from him. However it is safe to say that the moment Stella became aware of his husband's affair, her love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Improving My Worldview That's what I want to know. That's what I've always wanted to know. Hell, it's what I've built a worldview on, a life on. Observation and speculation, understanding and knowledge. I've always felt so damn interested in.. Well, everything. But there's a reason for that, a reason I didn't really realize fully until just now. Just a disclaimer: Maybe I'm pulling the reason out of my ass; I sort of doubt the validity of anyone's true ability to fully 'know' themselves, or anyone, or anything... But I thought this warranted some expression of my thoughts. I constantly seek knowledge to improve my worldview. I seek to improve my worldview because I want to know how things will happen, and what things can happen. I want to know these hows and whats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not as far as I know. The main thing to do would be realizing that, ultimately, insecurity is a terrible motivator for ensuring you don't get harmed. However, it doesn't fit with this system. It doesn't fit because if you were to abandon that core insecurity as a drive to understand yourself, then you also abandon, well, understanding yourself! And insecurity is not something easily replaceable if you want to truly have the same drive of introspection. There's rarely a greater, more effective emotional underlier that truly causes someone to think deeply about themselves. Or, atleast, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Food Insecurity Food security described as having access to enough food for a healthy life. Americans living with food insecurity are uncertain of having enough food to provide for household members due to insufficient funds or other resources for food. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, very low food security is considered a food insecurity in which access to food is severely restricted. Hunger is described as a physical discomfort from not consuming food and can occur episodically but is possible to be the result of severe or protracted food insecurity. In Mississippi around 2007, about 29% of minorities were food insecure. According to the Feeding America network, African Americans are more likely to suffer from food insecurity. I asked my interviewee how the food he eat impact his health, and his response was more geared toward satisfaction of feeling full. He specified that the foods he eat helps him boost his energy and satisfies his hunger. Mr. Anonymous does not have much access to food nor resources to purchase food. His living environment is unsafe; he paints cars for income and walks back and forth to the nearest fast food restaurant to acquire a food. He also stated that often, family members would bring him food items from the dollar store a few blocks up the road from him. In his living quarters, he only has a hot plate and a microwaves, so he does not prepare full course meals. Mr. Anonymous is a native of Louisiana, so during celebrations and special occasions, his family meets in at one designated location and feast foods like gumbo, rice, chicken, and pecan pie, etc. Considering his living conditions, Mr. Anonymous does not have a normal food pattern. • 71. Insecurity In Othello In William Shakespeare's tragedy Othello, there is a double standard for race focused mainly on the main protagonists Othello and Desdemona. There is a drastic contrast between the way Othello is held with high esteem politically yet is ridiculed when brought into a romantic setting. The disdain that is brought upon Othello is one of the contributing factors for his spiral into a jealous rage and his own downfall. Perhaps one of the primary instances of a character presenting Othello as a negative character is when Brabantio discovers that Othello and Desdemona are married in Act I, Scene 3; it is his speech beginning with "a maiden never so bold..." that plants the seed of insecurity in Othello's mind and reveals the true feelings of not just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello not only served in the army but was a famous general despite his race, showing that there was nothing segregating him in that aspect. That entire mood shifts when Brabantio finds out about the secret marriage, wrenching Othello down from someone he bestowed trust in to someone beneath his status. In Brabantio's speech renouncing the possibility that Desdemona could choose to love Othello in her right mind he accuses their relationship of being "against all rules of nature", opening a broader concept regarding interracial relationships (Shakespeare I.iii.442). Brabantio takes a similar stance a few lines earlier in his impassioned speech when he emphasizes the way Desdemona chose Othello "in spite of nature, of years, of country, credit, everything" (Shakespeare I.iii.437–38). Not only does Brabantio mourn for the damage this union inflicts upon their reputation, but he also asserts that the possibility of their interracial relationship would be against the laws of nature, something completely different from the praise Othello received as a general. While Brabantio's dramatization of his expectations for the marriage's consequences does reveal his own viewpoint on the double standard of race, it also unknowingly reveals Desdemona's stance as ... • 73. Food Insecurity Essay School lunches are often unsung heroes of many modern American households. Frequently overlooked and disregarded because of their stigma, school lunches are a key ingredient that may help make the world a better place. Unknowingly, great numbers of individuals in our communities deal with food insecurities every day of their lives. It baffles me that in an advanced society many people do not have the resources to provide food for themselves or their families. Until it affected me personally, I was unaware nor passionate about the struggles of food insecurity. My passion for solving food insecurity in my local community has led me to gain both experience and leadership through understanding and advocating for those around me. Near the beginning of this school year, my friend Bianca frequently asked me, "Are you going to finish that?" Initially I suggested that she buy herself something or pack lunch, but she always refused and went without eating. After reflecting, I realized that Bianca suffered from the plight of food insecurity. I was hit with a whirlwind of emotions... how could someone that I know not have the resources to feed herself. From that moment forward, I began packing a little extra each day. For the remainder of the school year, I always shared my food with her to ensure that having something to eat was not a concern for her. This daily ritual made me interested in researching whether others dealt with this same issue. Sparking my passion, my friend's situation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Food Insecurity Essay Listening to conversations about food on campus, I found that there was a common theme last year: it was difficult to find healthy food on campus. I think we'll find that to be less of the case this year, especially with N–Rich recently opening in the Union, and a new service called Instacart that will deliver groceries to campus. However, despite an expanded variety of options to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, the problem of food insecurity has hardly been addressed. Food insecurity is the "state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food," according to the Oxford Dictionary. It is a widespread problem on college campuses across the nation. While food insecurity only impacts 14% of households, 48% of college students claim to be food insecure. This problem disproportionately impacts first generation college students, students of color, and students who need financial aid, as noted by the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness. Today, these students still have few resources to address this problem. Last year, I was excited to see N–Rich open. I toured inside and out, and saw that it increased my options to buy healthy food on campus. Though there's valid argument that N–Rich's variety is small, for the first time in my college career, I did not have to travel over a mile to buy an onion. N– Rich opens up options for students with more meal plan money than they need. But for students who need to ration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Food Insecurity Among The Aging Population In the last five years there has been a growth in the level of food insecurity among the aging population. In 2012 15.3% of the aging faced a threat of food insecurity. Further from 2001 to 2012 there was a 44% increase in the aging population experiencing hunger (Ziliak & Gundersen, 2013). In 2008 8.1% of households with an elderly individual living in the residence were food insecure, and 8.8% of the elderly living alone were food insecure (Coleman–Jenson, Nord, Andrews, & Carlson, 2009). After a dip in 2010 rates of food insecurity among the aging there was an increase in food insecurity among households with the elderly present and households of the elderly living alone (Coleman–Jenson, Nord, Andrews, & Carlson, 2011; Coleman–Jensen, Nord, & Singh; 2012, 2013). 2013 8.7% of households with elderly individuals were food insecure (Coleman–Jensen, Gregory, & Singh, 2014; Ziliak & Gundersen, 2014). Research has shown food insecurity leads to the reduction of nutritionally sufficient diets and poorer health status, thus this growth in food insecurity for the elderly is troubling as the elderly are already at risk for poor health outcomes (Lee & Frongillo, 2001; Stuff, et al., 2004). Heflin, Corcoran, & Siefert examine variation in food insecurity among low–income populations and suggest food insecurity operates through three mechanisms: (1) individual constraints on coping abilities, (2) demands, and (3) resources (2007). A significant body of literature on food security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
