3. DIGITAL LITERACY
• Digital literacy is the awareness, attitude and abilities of
people to properly use digital gadgets and facilities of
identifying, accessing, evaluating, and synthesizing resources
available online, constructing new knowledge, creating media
expressions, and communicating with others.
• Digital literacy means digital skills or having digital capabilities
that needs to live, learn, and work in a society where
communication and access to information is increasing
through digital technologies like internet platforms, social
media and mobile devices.

Digital Competence
•Digital competence refers to the power and skill of
people to find out and use digital space.
•Basic skills like finding content from Google,
editing text in Word, presenting content in
PowerPoint as well as sending an email are
among these skills.

• Using digital competencies and inner talent to advance

• Comprehension: It refers to the ability of readers of
digital media to be able to understand its content.
• Interdependence: The proliferation of digital devices
has made it easier to consume content from different
mediums.
• Curation: Curation refers to finding, organizing and
saving digital media in a way that makes it easier to
access and use this information in future.

8. EFFORTS FOR DIGITAL LITERACY IN PUNJAB
• The school Education Department Government of
Punjab is continuously & closely working with PITB to
develop, test and implement e-Learning solutions that
can help to improve student learning outcomes for public
school students.
• Ed-Tech solutions, including tablets for teachers, LEDs
in classrooms, tablets for students, tablet-based smart
labs, and e-learning systems have been tested.
Implementations have been done in 250 classrooms -
impacting 10,000 students, and hundreds of teachers.

•PCTB textbooks for grades 6 to 10 have been
digitized with thousands of interactive multimedia
components.
