1. Expo 2005 was the World's Fair held for 185 days in March-September, 2005,
in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, east of the city of Nagoya.
There were national and corporate pavilions expressing themes of ecological co-
existence, renewable technology, and the wonders of nature. In Japanese, this is
rendered as Ai-chikyūhaku (愛・地球博), which means (roughly) "Love the Earth
Expo," as well as being a play on the name of the host prefecture, 愛知 (Aichi).
According to the official website:
We must come together and share our experience and wisdom, in order to create a
new direction for humanity which is both sustainable and harmonious with nature.
Expo 2008 was an international exposition held in September 2008 in Zaragoza.
The exposition was placed in a meander of the river Ebro.
Zaragoza, host city for the International Exposition, is the administrative and
financial capital of the autonomous community of Aragon and Spain's fifth most
populous city.
The exhibition’s most emblematic buildings were the Water Tower, an 80-metre-
high transparent building designed by Enrique de Teresa to evoke a drop of
water, Zaha Hadid's Bridge Pavilion, and the river aquarium. The exposition site
also hosted several events, including a daily parade by Cirque du Soleil called The
Awakening of the Serpent.
Expo 2010, officially the Expo 2010 Shanghai China, was held on both banks of
the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China, in May-October 2010. It was a
major World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions, the first
since 1992. It signifies Shanghai's new status in the 21st century as the "next
great world city". The Expo emblem features the Chinese character 世 ('world',
Chinese "shì") modified to represent three people together with the 2010 date. It
had the largest number of countries participating and was the most expensive Expo
in the history of the world's fairs. The Shanghai World Expo was also the largest
World's Fair site ever at 5.28 square km.
