Lions & Eagles & Bulls: Early American Tavern & Inn Signs | Hartford, CT
Long before there were neon lights or golden arches, travelers found their journeys marked by the
artwork of early American sign painters. Lions & Eagles & Bulls is the first major, traveling exhibition
focused exclusively on the art of early American inn signs. The collection that forms the basis of this
exhibition is from The Connecticut Historical Society, which preserves the nation’s largest collection of
tavern and inn signs.
